Not so friendly reminder that Tankies are people who deny not only the genocides of Russia but also Vietnam and China (including the Uyghurs), and are apologists for the North Korean regime. They push Russian propaganda of "colour revolutions" every time a Global South country rises up against a totalitarian government because they believe totalitarianism is merely anti-communist agenda; deriding, dismissing and dehumanizing the liberation movements of our countries that come at great human cost. They're not anti-imperialists or anti-colonial; their chief issue with the imperial core is that it's not their ideology seated at the heart of it. They only care about Global South lives when it serves their ideology, and have no genuine concern or curiosity about the ground realities or agency of the communities impacted by imperialism and colonialism.
I also want you to understand that every major power player involved in this conflict is a genocidal fascist. Hamas, Hezbollah and Houthis that are fighting Israel are funded by the theocratic Iranian regime headed by Ebrahim Raisi (begging you to remember the hundreds of Iranian girls and women killed for protesting it). Iran is also an ally of the notorious Bashar Al-Assad's regime in Syria, responsible for the genocide and displacement of millions of his own people while actively funding the Islamic State he wages war against. Both Assad and Raisi are allies of Putin, who is currently trying to colonize and genocide Ukraine and is terrorising Poland, Hungary, Georgia, Estonia, Latvia etc. However, Iran and Putin (half-heartedly) are also allies of the Armenians who are being genocided by Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is supported by the US, but also Erdogan in Turkey, infamous dictator that hates the European Union and is a close pal of Putin. Meanwhile the US's best friends in the Middle East is Israel, which hates Arabs, and Saudi Arabia, who doesn't recognise Israel as a country but is hated by most of the MENA and is currently in a Cold War with Iran.
*yanks y'all by the shirt and shouts in your face* THERE ARE NO GOOD GUYS HERE, DO YOU UNDERSTAND?? ONLY INNOCENT CIVILIANS CAUGHT IN A SPIDER WEB OF GREEDY, DESPOTIC, GENOCIDAL, FASCIST CUNTS. THERE IS NO POINT TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHICH ONE IS THE BIGGEST THREAT TO GLOBAL DEMOCRACY BECAUSE ALL THE FALL OF ONE DOES IS CREATE A POWER VACCUUM THAT WILL IMMEDIATELY BE FILLED BY THE NEXT BULLY.
These governments can only be toppled from within by their own people once external threats like war with their neighbours are eased, because militaries with nothing to fight are economic black holes that try to eat itself, and it's this economic stress that act as catalysts for coalition building and civilian revolt. Military losses weaken imperialists' coercive power and legitimacy over their own people, so the best thing you can do to help them agitate for change is preventing imperialist expansions from claiming any more victims.
#TL;DR: if the US divests from Israel#withdraws entirely from Iraq and Syria and actually commits to helping Ukraine beat back Putin#it would break Israel's continuing destabilising of the Middle East#and consequent lessening of external threat might lessen some of these states' chokeholds over their own people.#Sadly‚ it's also why the US refuses to do so. Ukraine means little to the US#while the MENA keeps the US's arms and oil industries in business.#If Putin invades Ukraine and the US is tied up fighting seven different countries in the Middle East alongside Israel#he's going to try and encroach into Poland#and then we're on the brink of nuclear war.#Althoug actually we might not have to wait that long#considering the US is already aiming nuclear missiles at Iran for being mean to Israel#and also attacking the US's bases in Iraq and Syria in retaliation for Gaza.#tankies#war in ukraine#ukrainian genocide#palestinian genocide#armenian genocide#western leftists#geo-politics#decolonisation#colonization#imperialism#middle east#global south#totalitarianism#western propaganda#western imperialism#genocide denial#liberation#knee of huss

troops from many corners of the globe have been involved in afghanistan, iraq, vietnam etc but ppl dont call these world wars which is the only reason i singled out the imperial core, western europe in this case being under threat bc realistically thats why as far as i can tell ppl from the imperial core consider wwi and wwii to be “world wars” but not other global conflicts. like u just made fun of me for assuming by world war u meant one where the imperial core is under threat and then continued to talk about it as meaning just that? or am i misunderstanding lol. anyway sorry for sending on anon im just embarasaed by my uninformed opinions >//<
Don't worry, I'm not making fun of you. I apologise if my tone led you to believe otherwise.
The fact that many imperialist nations together invaded various poor countries does not make them 'world wars', just the same as the seven-nation alliance of european empires that invaded and looted China during the century of humiliation did not constitute a 'world war' - because these nations were all united in plunder, and, really, barely carrying out 'war' as much as simple banditry.
The world wars of the previous century were notable for being conflicts between empires - including, yes, the USA. The conflict between these empires does not necessarily need to manifest as a ground invasion of their territories, especially in this, the age of nuclear deterrence - and would much more likely appear as proxy conflicts in their imperial holdings, such as already occurs between French and Russian forces in Africa.
Nobody ever attempted an invasion of the US in the previous two world wars because it was impractical, and now similarly it is impractical to attempt an invasion of any given nuclear state - but the point of the inter-imperialist conflict is the acquisition of competitor's imperial territories, not necessarily the cannibalisation of the competitor itself.
Given modern military technologies and the conception of greyzone warfare, indirect fires against the imperial core could be carried out - so, cruise missile strikes, etc - but as has been demonstrated in the Ukraine, actual red lines tend to lean more towards a 'sustainable' type of war (whose existence is entirely uncertain at this point).
To summarise: firstly, world war generally refers to conflict between imperialist states, and between imperialist spheres of influence; secondly, world war does not necessarily mean invasion of the imperial core; and thirdly, you are my friend and I love you, do not be embarrassed.

Where are all those liberals with the Doomsday Clock and anti war sentiment. If 911 taught us nothing else it taught us that ANYTHING can happen. Heaven help us all.
Russia has allegedly launched an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) at a Ukrainian city for the first time, an expensive but potentially potent reminder by the Kremlin that it has a large reserve of nuclear-capable weapons which can strike form thousands of miles away.
The central-Ukrainian city of Dnipro was struck by a single ICBM missile in the early hours of Thursday morning Ukraine claims, part of a broader air raid that state media said also saw one air-launched ballistic missile and seven air-launched cruise missiles fired at the city. The Ukrainian government has not made an official statement on casualties in the “massive attack” but said they managed to shoot down six of the cruise missiles in-flight.
The launch of an ICBM is claimed by Ukraine’s air force to have come from the Astrakhan Oblast, which borders the Caspian Sea. The launch has not been corroborated by Western states observing the conflict, the United Kingdom has called it unconfirmed, for instance. Russia has yet to confirm or deny an conventional explosive armed but nuclear-capable ICBM launch, apparently the latest sabre-rattling move by the state as it bids to discourage further Western involvement in Ukraine.
While claiming there was “no significant damage” caused, nevertheless Ukraine also stated a city medical facility and an industrial area were hit. Sergiy Lysak, the head of the regional administration said in a statement that: “Since early morning, the aggressor has massively attacked the region. Information about the consequences is being clarified. At the moment, it is known about damage to an industrial enterprise in Dnipro. There were also two fires in the city.”
Ukraine called the attack an attempt to damage the city’s “critical infrastructure” . Meanwhile, just 70 miles away a power interconnector for the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was cut in an air strike. This left the plant with just one backup power supply.
A loss of external power can be catastrophic for a nuclear plant because the control systems that govern the reaction process — and which can crash-stop it in an emergency — cannot safely rely on the power the plant itself produces and need redundancy. The Zaporizhzhia plant has been occupied by Russian forces for several years and is presently run by Russian nuclear company Rosatom, one of the few Russian businesses that has been untouched by Western sanctions as Russia is a massive global player in the supply of Uranium, needed by nuclear power plants everywhere.
ussia has stated that it considers precision attacks against military or political targets inside the Russian Federation an act of war by the states providing the weapons, even if they are launched by a third party. How far Russia is willing to take this nuclear sabre-rattling is unclear: at several points through this conflict the Kremlin has expressed its displeasure at Western nations involving themselves in what it clearly considers a private war but never followed through with threats on issues like the supply of tanks, earlier missiles, and jet fighters.
Yet long-range missile strikes inside Russia may be taken a lot more seriously inside the Kremlin. Talks about the policy of whether to give Ukraine permission to engage in such attacks against their invader have gone back months, and key moments have been met with Russian reminders that they ultimately hold a trump card against attempts to bring down the Putin state.
When Zelensky was in Washington in September to ask for long-range strikes, Russia appeared to respond by saying it was reviving its nuclear doctrine to create a state of co-responsibility for attacks by American-backed states. In October Russia issued what very much looked like a reminder of what it holds in reserve and had never yet deployed in anger, a considerable armoury of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, conducting continent-spanning test-firings.
A land-launch of a Yars ICBM from Plesetsk to Archangesk (pictured, top) demonstrated a range of 3,500 miles, with Russia publishing quantities of footage showing the launch of several nuclear-capable missiles. The Yars is Russia’s newest ICBM, part of the development of their first such new weapon since the end of the Cold War, with the 3,500 mile flight only around half of its claimed maximum range, designed to strike deep into the United States if required.
Then earlier this week, as the U.S. was stated to have signed off on strikes on the Russian interior with American-made missiles in Ukrainian hands, Vladimir Putin signed off on that new nuclear doctrine, a further message to the West.
While today’s alleged launch and strike serves a warfare rather than training purpose, the use of an ICBM to deliver a conventional warhead rather than a considerably cheaper and less sophisticated tactical ballistic or cruise missile is a pointed further message from Russia to the West.
Poland, one of the European states closest to the fighting and perhaps taking the most alarmist state about Russian territorial ambitions — it is practically a matter of faith in Polish defence circles that Moscow has designs on Poland, should it succeed in Ukraine — appears to have reacted to the Thursday morning launch, scrambling fighters and and land-based defence systems.
A statement from the Polish Air Force, which operates F-16 jets, said Thursday: “Attention, due to another attack by the Russian Federation, which is carrying out strikes on objects located, among others, in western Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft have begun operating in our airspace… the Operational Commander of the RSZ activated all available forces and resources at his disposal, the on-duty fighter pairs were scrambled, and the ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems reached the highest state of readiness.”
How ironic it would be for America to be destroyed fighting for some 3rd World Shidt Hole that up until 10 minutes ago was famous only for its lack of real democracy and corruption.

YF-12 at Mach 3.2 at an altitude of 74,000 feet (23,000 m) to a JQB-47E target drone 500 feet (150 m) off the ground. The missile did not have a warhead but still managed to hit the B-47 directly and take a 4-foot section off of its tail! Thank you to…Romain Hugault for this amazing drawing
The Y F-12 was a derivative of the A-12 . With the looming threat of long range Soviet nuclear bombers, the U.S. Air Force knew they needed a high speed interceptor they could task with closing with and destroying bombers before they could reach American targets. However, America’s involvement in the Vietnam War made funding difficult to come by.
The introduction of ICBMs into Cold War nuclear posturing meant that the most looming nuclear threat was no longer long range bombers, it was missiles.
Only about 80 of these missiles were ever built, with seven total guided launches attempted from the YF-12. Six of those test launches resulted in kills, with the propulsion system failing on the seventh. Despite never seeing operational use, the AIM-47 would go on to serve as the basis for the legendary AIM-54 Phoenix missile later carrier by the Grumman F-14 Tomcat. There is one YF-12 remaining at the Museum of the Air Force near Dayton Ohio.

I know right?
theirs a few more stuff with Apollo that reference Kristoph, him poking fun of Athena’s voice before her first case and him taking shutting down Athena’s not having a motive with ‘you’ve had killers with motives you wouldn’t dream of’ (paraphrase)
It kinda sucks how DD is the *only* game that comes close to actually reconizing post turnabout trump that Apollo was mentored by Kristoph, which SUCKS. Like,, not even Apollo Justice, where Apollo is introduced as Kristoph’s mentee really have anything directly showing that Apollo actually got taught by Kristoph nor is that relationship explored.
I LOVE the idea of the main villian being the main character’s mentor! Theirs a lot you can do with that dynamic, but Apollo Justice doesn’t really do anything with it 😭 like, DD ended up winning in that department despite the fact Kristoph isn’t even their.
I NEVER NOTICED WHAT YOU POINTED OUT anon thank you so much for informing me. I will proceed to obsess about these facts later!!
Ngl I feel like we would have gotten more about Apollo's and Kristoph's dynamic if the original writer stayed for DD (and Spirit Of Justice, but I have yet to play SOJ so I dunno). But we just. Don't know!! I don't believe the original writer had publicized the ideas for DD, but if I'm wrong please tell me. All I know is that the original writer wanted to keep Beanix if I remember correctly as to what a friend told me.
Though in a way I am. Kinda happy? We get no information??? Because the possible interpretations are so interesting. They range from too wholesome (Kristoph treating Apollo better than Klavier, treating Apollo as if he's the only person who deserves such special treatment) to seven nuclear missiles pointing directly at Apollo. And I <3 EVERY interpretation.
But also I'm not happy I NEED to know their canon dynamic NOW. WHAT WENT DOWN. Like the fact he's an important character too. Like. Aaaaughhhh head in hands!!!
Though like. I'm ngl apart from his debut game, DD and I'm also guessing SoJ side line Apollo SO bad. So. Holds arms up. I'm so sad!!!
The fact he could have smoothed his way out of prison too...Like looking at his cell. And you're telling me he couldn't talk himself out of prison?
"He might have gotten the death sentence" SIMON WAS ROTTING AWAY FOR SO LONG. GOING IN AND OUT OF HIS CELL AND COURT. AND YOU'RE TELLING ME KRISTOPH GOT EXECUTED SO FAST??? Like if I recall correctly DD is set after aa4 a year later. Simon was waiting for his death sentence for like. A while. I'm pretty sure, with the Dark Age Of Law and the right words and all that Kristoph could have wormed his way out of it.
Like. There's something interesting to be cooked up here I'm sure.
But also I wanna say that. DD feels like it wants to reference aa4 without acknowledging aa4. And it sucks!! Like Klavier played 'The Guitar's Serenade' despite saying he'll never play it again. No reason no logic. And it hurts.

Millions of Ukrainians woke up early on Sunday morning to a massive Russian missile and drone attack on their country’s infrastructure, the biggest assault from Moscow since the end of August and the first large-scale attack since the US election.
Donald Trump once promised to settle the Ukraine war in “24 hours” but the 120 missiles and 90 drones aimed at the nation’s utilities is a reminder that Moscow’s maximalist aspirations to cow and subjugate its neighbour remains unchanged.
The military may use electricity, water and gas, but the obvious reality is that in any outages of utilities, it is civilians across the country who will be disproportionately affected, just as a harsh winter looms where temperatures of -10C (14F) are not uncommon and -20C is not unknown.
The true target of such a widespread attack – from Lviv in the west, to Odesa in the south, and the capital Kyiv – is national morale. Even when the incoming missiles are largely intercepted, as they were on Sunday, the air raid alarms in the small hours and explosions in the distance sap people’s energy, even though the overwhelming desire in Ukraine to resist remains undimmed.
A Ukrainian woman living in Kyiv, who asked that her name not be used because of the reference to her family, said the dilemma was always whether to wake her 10-year-old son and go into a shelter or leave him and hope the danger passes. Near nightly drone attacks on Kyiv have already left many in the capital short on sleep.
Among the munitions deployed, Ukraine believes, were seven Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, which can in theory be nuclear armed and travel at four to 10 times the speed of sound. But Russia’s missile arsenal has been sharply depleted from the early stages of the war, meaning that it is likely to have been building up stocks to use in a large-scale attack.
Such studied Russian cynicism is also apparent elsewhere. Olaf Scholz, Germany’s chancellor, spoke to Vladimir Putin for an hour on Friday. The Kremlin afterwards suggested nothing had changed in its negotiating position, and that its full-scale invasion of 2022 was the “direct result” of a Nato policy that aimed at “creating a staging ground against Russia on Ukrainian soil”.
The Kremlin statement also insisted that the west should recognise “the new territorial realities” an unsubtle reference to Russia’s occupation of nearly a fifth of Ukraine – and then referred back to a Putin speech made in June at Russian’s foreign ministry, which spelled its the demands in fuller form.
In that address, Putin demanded, again, the “demilitarisation and denazification” of Ukraine. Russia had previously demanded, in negotiations in 2022, that Ukraine’s army be reduced to just 50,000 and has said it wants four eastern and southern Ukrainian regions, Donetsk, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia of which only the fourth, Luhansk, is fully occupied.
Not surprisingly Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a different view in a radio interview with Suspilne, the country’s public broadcaster. Victory, he said, would amount to “a strong Ukraine” emerging either on the battlefield or through diplomacy, though he was prudent not to be too specific about what that meant.
While there may be signs, expressed behind the scenes, that Ukraine is willing to accept the loss of some occupied territory for a peace, Russia’s demands appear to go far beyond that, and may leave Ukraine with little choice but to try and fight on, even if the US walks away from supplying military aid.
How successful it could be is uncertain. Ukraine did shoot down or neutralise 85% of the missiles and 94% of the drones, but it proved disturbingly easy for Russia to knock out entire power stations in the spring with a barrages of missiles at a time when air defences were stretched.
Despite Trump’s election and talk of peace, such is the scale of Russian aggression – as demonstrated on Sunday morning – that an end to the war still appears a long way off.

I've decided to rewatch YJ all over again. Just finished EP 1 and- man, I feel like I'ma kid again. "Today is the day!" yeah don't mind me crying like a baby. Well, better enjoy it before it becomes the embodiment of that audio that goes "there was a very hungry, genetically modified caterpillar- SEVEN NUCLEAR MISSILES!"
Also, very fun to watch it after I read basically anything that DC has to offer- lots of fun stuff to pick up. The flips my guts did at "Blockbuster" AAA if they ever make a s5 (they should make, like, at least three more seasons to sort everything out) I definitely want to see the whole Blockbuster-Nightwing-Tarantula issue, even if I understand that it's set on a different earth and that it'd be too heavy, perhaps, for a pg 14 show.

@jamiesfootball because you asked, here's a random assortment of clips of prose that are stuck in my brain, from the highlights sections of various books i've read on my kindle, some short, some longer, some profound, some that just got stuck in the gears:
Everyone's judgement was impaired. Nothing said or done now could be trusted. But somehow it wouldn't be forgotten or forgiven.
the ritual, adam neville
"Real magic can never be made by offering up someone else's liver. You must tear out your own, and not expect to get it back. The true witches know that."
the last unicorn, peter s beagle
The unicorn was weary of human beings. Watching her companions as they slept, seeing the shadows of their dreams scurry over their faces, she would feel herself bending under the heaviness of knowing their names.
the last unicorn, peter s beagle
But at the same moment, Prince Lír said, "No." The word escaped him as suddenly as a sneeze, emerging in a questioning squeak - the voice of a silly young man mortally embarrassed by a rich and terrible gift. "No," he repeated, and this time the word tolled in another voice, a king's voice; not Haggard, but a king whose grief was not for what he did not have, but for what he could not give.
the last unicorn, peter s beagle (cutting myself off here or i'd just include half the book) (some more under the cut)
"You're a knight now, Kay. You're one of them. They can't touch you, and they'll listen to you. I want you to be my go-between. You're my consiliarius, man. I trust you." Arthur leans over, grasps Kay's arm. Pulls him to himself, until their foreheads touch. "I love you, Kay. You know that, right?" "I love you too, Arthur." "We're brothers, Kay!" "Yes," Kay says. "Brothers." Arthur smiles. And Kay knows, at that moment, that he's lost him. That the Arthur he knew is gone forever, had perhaps never existed in the first place. This new Arthur is nobody's friend, and nobody's brother. He is alone.
by force alone, lavie tidhar
“This isn’t how the story’s written. There’s no happy ending for kings. They become by beating or killing the competition, then they rule, then…” He makes a chopping motion. “Another upstart comes along. And he’s young, and he’s hungry, and he’s just a little bit more vicious and he’s not scared to die. The king is dead. Long live the king.”
by force alone, lavie tidhar
The astonishing thing was how little appreciation existed for what all this meant; for what Tomahawk could do. As if it had not penetrated human understanding that each of them could transport a 200-kiloton nuclear warhead and that ships carried them by the score; the circumstance scarcely realized that Tomahawk embodied a revolution not just in seapower but in warfare itself, to the extent one could fairly state that it made little difference any longer what happened to land weapons, whether they were banned or not. It is a hard thing to say but the fact was this: All of the talk concerning the restriction or elimination of lad-based missiles constituted a historic charade, terrible in its meaning, its illusion. If the last one of these had been removed by such negotiations, nothing would have changed. It was almost as though people were being lulled into forgetting that there existed something called the sea: and that there are many seas, indeed that they occupy seven-tenths of the planet, and that there is no spot of land that cannot be reached by an object launched from some sea by a ship. People either did not know or could not grasp the fact that a single ship, such as ours, could fairly well exterminate a continent. And there were many ships.
the last ship, william brinkley
I read the letters the ship's blinker sent back in white bickerings across the water BOATS UNDERWAY SILVA BACK WITH FINE CATCH ENOUGH FOR ALL HANDS SILVA SAYS FISH AS GOOD AS CAPE COD SO MUST BE SOMETHING SINCE SILVA SAYS THAT'S WHERE GOD WAS BORN
the last ship, william brinkley
All witches are selfish, the Queen had said. But Tiffany's Third Thoughts said: Then turn selfishness into a weapon! Make all things yours! Make other lives and dreams and hopes yours! Protect Them! Save Them! Bring them into the sheepfold! Walk the gale for them! Keep away the wolf! My dreams! My brother! My family! My land! My world! How dare you try to take these things, because they are mine! I have a duty!
