i was thinking about kon’s doodle of young justice in sb94 #92 again so here’s a study i did earlier this year to try to emulate it :3

On one hand, bringing Kon back into his Jack Kirby beginnings as a love letter to Kirby would be fitting for the character and it would be something nice to do in celebration of Jack's life 30 years after his death but on the other hand, I am not sure how many people would actually appreciate it, understand it or even care about it. Geoff really did everything in his power to remove Kon from the world placement of Kirby and it worked.

Guys. Look me in the eyes. I'm gripping your shoulders so hard right now. Clark did not fail Kon. He did not ignore him. Editorial would not allow Clark to be a major character in sb94 because he would not have let that shit slide. He was only allowed cameos because he had common sense and they wouldn’t have been able to tell that nickelodeon child star ass story if Clark was heavily present. Do you understand me. Considering how little Clark was allowed to directly influence Kon’s life during that era it is remarkable he helped as much as he did and was still a solid, loving, dependable figure and one of the only people truly looking out for that kid as much as he was allowed to. Once he was allowed to Be There, he quite literally took Kon away from that hell and gave him a home. Listen to me. Clark did not fail Kon and it took real world interference to stop him from helping so much it changed the story itself. Do not slander Clark Kent when you know not of which you speak.

[ID: Clark and Kon are silhouetted against a setting sun, the sun getting lower and the sky turning more orange as they sit. Kon walks up and sits next to Clark. Kon says, "You'll find him. I know you will. I mean, you're you. You're..." He pauses, puts his head in his head on his arms and continues, "When is it going to stop feeling like this?"

the problem with reading comics (superboy (1994)) is that every time i see a post referencing a plot from the comics (superboy (1994)) but it's clear from the post they have not actually read the comic in question (superboy (1994)) or at the least, if they did, they missed some of the biggest and most significant themes in that comic (superboy (1994)), it leaves me sitting here and grumbling to myself because of the very loud voice in my head going "well that actually contradicts the comics (superboy (1994))", but i know that that is not actually a productive thing to say and that i should simply block the post/person and move on. even though i would love for more people to read comics (superboy (1994)). especially before they reference things about those comics (superboy (1994)). that would be cool

The thing about the "but do i have a soul" bit in tt03 is it absolutely is plausible as a reaction due to kons intense depression that kind of peaks during this era but 1) it is Not intended that way and i think its stupid to pretend geoff had anything in mind re kon but the ridiculous evil genes storyline, and 2) it is dealt with in the most boring way possible. Anyway point being u can read that as kon being deeply in it but that doesnt take away from how stupid that entire plot was and how geoff clearly didnt do much research when writing it. Also characters are written by people who direct all their thoughts and actions remember that? Wild
