Saskia felt rejuvenated as Anders finished working his magic. Like one might feel after waking up from deep slumber-- a sore muscle or an aching joint here and there, but whole and rested and ready to take on the world again. She accepted the damp rag gratefully and scrubbed her face and neck off all the blood and dirt sticking to her skin.

“I know,” she said, finishing the wiping of her face and setting the cloth over her thigh now. “I know.” Leaning forward to regard the healer closer, she whispered a promise, “And I’m ready to spill blood--mine or otherwise-- to protect what you’ve built here.” Her tone was solemn and her gaze fixed on the man before her-- someone she admired and looked up to. Saskia was hot-headed and impulsive, yes, but she didn’t take such vows lightly. There was nothing in the world she believed in more than the equality and freedom of all people.

“I can do all the small chores, certainly,” Saskia agreed while standing up, rolling her shoulders, stretching her arms and legs. She wasn’t needed anywhere else for the time being, so a stop in Kirkwall to offer whatever help she could was feasible enough. “But don’t be afraid to ask more of me-- I can handle myself.” She trailed off for a moment, offering a good-hearted smile. “With minimal patching up needed, I promise.”

Only now does she open her eyes, piercing ambers looking up at Red. She softens, then, as if the sight of him is enough to scrape off the sharp edges, the unyielding parts of her. Maybe it is; maybe you do fight fire with fire, and just as well. Flopping on her belly, she takes his hand to kiss; a soft thing pressed with utmost affection against his knuckles.

“Whatever it is you need, I will bring it to you here,” Saskia whispers. And then, her tone takes on a different import, “Don’t make me strap you to the bed... again.”

A ‘side-effect’ of spending most of her time among humans and having lived through so much hardship and strife since the very first day she’s hatched out of her egg is that Saskia has a very skewed sense of how old she is. In most verses, she’s in the 25-30 age range, which is still young even for a human, let alone a dragon who can easily live thousands of years. To older dragons like her father, she’s barely a toddler, but if you talk to her, she’s gonna sound like she’s gone and lived for so long that the only thing left for her to do now is die for her cause.
