Rylan smiles, trying to see if he can fit one more thing on his lap, but there is a stomach in the way of that, Hayle just chuckling, checking quickly to see if River is done with his part, and when he sees him being done, he nods.
“So.. we’ll be needing some help over here River, we may have gone overboard with these books.”
“Oh wow you two have gotten a lot there!”
He wraps his arms around Rylan, kissing his cheek gently, before taking some off the books so they can pay for it all. They both know that Hayle’s addiction to taking pictures has not gotten any less over time when his husband was away.
“I guess we’ll fill them all eventually.”
River chuckles, as they pay and they get ready for the next step. River heads towards the cafeteria with the picture books, while Hayle takes Rylan to the post office to pick up their package, before they head to a small store to get wrapping paper, and a present for Chris that Hayle hopes to send him with the pictures. When both things are done, they head towards the cafe as well.
Vy takes Fannar to a store nearby where he knew there were some things Hayden wanted. It was mostly business related things, and electronics, things Vy wasn’t very knowledgeable about, but he was hoping to find something Hayden would like. A woman greeting her and Fannar, helping them find the things they want, a blue notebook, and as luck would have it, it has a offer that comes with a extra recorder that makes you able to use the tablet as a dicta phone which Vy is sure is a very good idea. As Fannar agrees with him, that becomes what they decide on.
River smiles as he watched Rylan go with his dad and walked over to the Cafe where Hayden was waiting, quickly finding his table and walking over to sit nearby.
“Done Christmas shopping?” “Yeah, found a store with gems and other shiny things, and well, lets say a certain little star takes after their mother when it comes to shiny things.”
He chuckles, the bag with all they had been buying, and Chris's surprise bag sitting on a chair next to him. River putting their shopping next to it.
“I'm guessing my twin is having a field day being out of the house?” “Oh yes he is. I am glad he is having a good day. It can't be easy to be so bed-bound.”
River sighs worried. Rylan's pregnancy hadn't been easy on them. Despite what Vy had asked him, he had been sharing his energy with Rylan but it felt like something was always wrong, as if it wasn't enough, for all he could feel was his child's energy and Rylan felt fainter by the day. Vy said everything was alright, yet he felt as if Vy was lying to him, or perhaps he was being paranoid?
“Hey... Hayden, is the lizard a good liar?” “Ehm, from what I noticed, not a very good one, why?”
He looked at River. He knew he worried a lot about his brother, as did he, he noticed it too, but Vy always answered he was okay or as good as could be expected.
“I worry about him too…” “Just... he doesn't feel right... Maybe it's just me being paranoid... “
He falls quiet once he sees Hayle and Rylan heading their way, Hayden nodding at him, he had noticed it as well, but Vy kept telling him for what it was, Rylan was as good as could be expected.
“He doesn't.. but perhaps it's the magic of the little one, being so strong that we lose the feel of him? I can't see Vy lying about it.I'll try and ask again, try and dig a little deeper.”
The last words are mostly a whisper, then he turns and waves at his brother and dad, waving at them, noticing Rylan waving back. As the two enter, Rylan’s nose is filled with the smell of sweet cake and drinks.

                                        HELENA NORWOOD
Age: 30 Birthdate: April 19th 1988 Gender and Pronouns: Female, she/her Hometown: Kingsholm, Norway. Occupation: Owner of Three Bear’s Supermarket / Chief Editor at  Kingsholm Daily / Field Seeker.
                                                                She is a Human.
                                                 BIOGRAPHY:
Helena’s came into this life just as this world came into existence: with a bang. She was born in a storm on the side of the highway. On the way to the hospital, the car broke down. The hard rain that pounded onto the metal roof of the jeep didn’t dare drown of the newborns cries. Derek and Cynthia have said that Cynthia had given birth to thunder. Helena has carried this mentality throughout her life. A force of nature, her voice was never to be quieted for anything or anyone. Helena Norwood was always someone who could bite off more than she could chew growing up. She wanted to run before she could walk. This didn’t necessarily make her smart, but it did make her adventurous and curious and adaptable. And who’s to say that combination shouldn’t be feared? Helena knew what she wanted, and she went after it without any doubt. Anything is achievable if you work hard enough for it, Derek once told her. This caused an unruly sense of ambition in the little girl that hasn’t died since.
Derek and Cynthia never wanted fame and it was something they never instilled into their children. Helena was glad she was taught the fame wasn’t everything, she didn’t want fame. That was boring, easily disposable. No, Helena wanted something better. She wanted the glory. She wanted to move away from Kingsholm and seek change and sink her teeth into the heart of the world. She desperately wanted to learn what was outside of Kingsholm and use this information to her advantage. But how? Was always the question she didn’t have an answer for. It was irritating. While having this drive, Helena wasn’t the easiest child to get along with. Sometimes, she would ask questions that were too curious for other kids’ likings – or rather, not to their understanding. It was in grade four when she realized her mind worked on a different wavelength than others. And that perhaps, she could use this to her advance. But, she’s been using this advantage since she was able to speak full sentences. It started in kindergarten, she just didn’t know it then. The questions started out small. Can you tie my shoelaces, please? Even though she was the first one in her class to know how to complete such a simple task. Can you get my lunchbox from my bag, please? Filled with innocence, doe-like eyes and full lashes. Helena was a cute kid. She’s been told over and over and over again. She had her teachers in the palm of her hands.
Just because she knew how to work people didn’t mean that Helena replied on them. Oh, no. In fact, all throughout school, her classmates replied on her, despite some of them not wanting to. She wasn’t exactly the popular ‘mean girl’. She went out of her way to greet the new kids, make them feel welcomed. This carried into high school – it got to the point where she stopped bullying in the hallways and convinced them that they should take her volunteer hours over the weekend to better themselves. And although not having all of her hours to be recommended for Student Body President, Helena still won. God, it was too easy that it was almost boring. At this point, Helena knew she had exceeded her own abilities and needed more of a challenge. Unfortunately, this all came to a halt when she father died in his own grocery store of a heart attack. Helena was in her room when she heard the wailing of her mother. Helena consoled Cynthia and the youngest Norwood sibling as they cried for their loss. Consoled might be putting it too sweetly. She wanted to cry with them but felt like she couldn’t. She didn’t whisper sweet nothing in their ears. It would all be false and what would be the point? Derek wasn’t coming back and there was too much work to be done.
It didn’t take long for bitterness to seep into Helena. The grief of losing Derek hit the Norwood family hard. Where it made the rest of the family heady, Helena slowly took place as leader of the family. Rylan did his best in helping Cynthia around the house. O this day, Helena doesn’t know what happened to him, all she knows is that he was hardly ever home. Despite her detachment to the general population of Kingsholm, her family was always number one. She had never used her manipulative tactics on her family, though, every now and then, she would reconsider. But as much as it pissed her off that Rylan decided to desert his family and much rather be with his girlfriend or friends, he was dealing with Derek’s death in his own way. Helena decided that giving her eldest brother space was the best decision. Unfortunately, that might have been too much freedom for him.
Thing didn’t change, and begrudgingly, Helena kept attending to her family’s needs as Rylan went to college. Juggling school academics, extracurricular activities and helping manage Derek’s grocery store, Three Bears Supermarket, in Helena’s eyes, Rylan was able to do as he pleased. Helena didn’t know what to do with her life, but she knew she didn’t want to stay in Kingsholm. And that’s exactly what happened. She felt stuck for those two years. In high school, she knew she had everything set up for her, but she felt guilty ( something only her family could make her feel ) for even thinking about leaving her family behind in such a mess. So yes, she stayed for two years looking after the store and her mother and sister. After that time period and the youngest sibling old enough to take the mantel, Helena was flying the nest. She was soaring. She moved to Amsterdam and enrolled in journalism studies on a hunch. She had just hoped this would keep her interest and waste sometime until she figured out what she truly wanted to do with herself. – It didn’t take long to find out that Helena was good at this and that she actually loved it. University was a breeze. She had made a few enemies, but she knew it was only because she went above and beyond her professor’s expectation when looking for stories. While classmates were covering cat fashion shows and interviewing the class athlete of the year, Helena went after investigations that evolved brutally murdered hookers or stuck behind police to sneak her way into a drug busts for the right footage.
Helena was hired by the New York Times two weeks after graduating. A story of hers went viral and they caught her name and they were interested in what she could bring to the table. She moved to New York and did her job while still looking over the Three Bear’s from afar. Money was tight, but it wasn’t difficult. By now, the grief of Derek’s death had eased, and the Norwood family kept in touch whenever they could. FaceTime, phone calls, texting. No matter where they were in the world, they would always find some way to contact each other. Helena moved through the ranks with ease. Asking the right questions and her ambition made that easy for her – within three years she went from being a low-ranking writer into an investigative journalist. While during an investigation in Africa, she met a photographer, Charles. The pair quickly hit it off. It was easy to be comfortable around Charlie. He was down-to-earth, easy going and completely unexpected, just how Helena liked things in her life to be. They went three weeks together, side by side. And once they came back to New York to put the story together, they started a relationship. Charlie had become Helena’s official photographer. They were together for a number of years. Side by side on hundreds of interviews. They moved in together, decorated their apartment together, got a cat, and eventually, became engaged.
Helena’s life took a turn a few years later when she scooped up an interview of a terrorist from Peru, General Alcantara who was leading one side of a military in a civil war in the Peruvian country, firstly making his way through Ecuador and wanting to invade Columbia. While Helena was interviewing the General, one of his bodyguards found out that the CIA was attempting to track him through Charlie’s camera, who was revealed to be an undercover agent - but not CIA - the LSR. Growing with rage, the General’s eyes grew silver and without blinking, lifted Charlie off the ground as if he weighed nothing and strangled him until his lips turned blue, his eyes bulged out of his head and the General stopped when the sickening sharp snap! of the neck sounded through the quiet room. Helena would have been next if a swarm of agents hadn’t stepped in brought General Alcantara to the ground.
As it turned out, the LSR had been tracking General Alcantara for years, but was never able to get close, and they figured they not use someone who was deemed unassuming? Someone who was both stupid and brave enough to get close to the General. Finding this hard-hitting journalist, a plan was set into motion. The user had become the used. Distraught and thoroughly pissed off, of course, Helena wasn’t going to let this go so easily so she made the LSR tell her everything, and train her to be one of them. In time, she has become a Field Seeker, using her investigative journalism tact’s to help find Silvers because in her mind, she knows she should be pissed off with the LSR and her fiancée about using her, but if Silvers didn’t exist and weren’t a ‘problem’ none of this would have happened. Resigning from New York Times, Helena saw it fit to move back home to Kingsholm while taking the position of Chief Editor for Kingsholm Daily. Yes, there was indeed a Chief Editor before her who was perfectly comfortable with his job, but also heavily underqualified. And despite being overqualified, Helena sat down and had a chat with Keith Pedersen and ‘allowed him to resign’ from his job, mostly because working under someone else didn’t sit right with Helena, but, there was also the freedom of leaving when she’s able to and no one questioning where she’s going whether it be running around or even leaving Norway for either her own assignments or the LRS’s tasks she’s been given.
Helena Norwood is portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen.
