Mrs. Edith Elzina Triplett Foster, age 92 of North Wilkesboro, formally of Purlear, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at Wilkes Senior Village.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 16th, at Lewis Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Dwayne Andrews and Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:45 until 10:45 prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Foster was born July 31st, 1925 in Wilkes County to Dewey Vine and Annie Whittington Triplett.  She was a homemaker. Mrs. Foster was a lifelong member of Lewis Fork Baptist Church where she had sung in the church choir, taught Bible School and served as church clerk. She was a member of the Extension Homemakers Club for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Albert "Walt" Foster, two sisters; Geneva Triplett Wood Brown and Lutrelle Triplett Greene and one brother; Stuart Triplett.
Mrs. Foster is survived by a son; Larry Foster and wife, Cathy of Purlear, two grandchildren; Tommy Foster and wife Donna and Alex Foster, one step grandchild; Dawn McPeters and husband, Barry, three great- grandchildren; Adam Foster and wife, Anna, Luke Foster, Troy Foster, three step greatgrandchildren; Megan Teetor and husband, Jessie, Mason McPeters and Peyton McPeters, two great great- grandchildren; Charlotte Foster and Georgia Foster and two sisters; Inez Blackburn  and Norma Jean Wood of Wilkesboro.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Lewis Fork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 395 Lewis Fork Baptist  Church Road, Purlear, NC 28665 or Wake Forest Care at Home Hospice, 126  Executive Drive, Suite 110 Wilkesboro, NC 28697.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Wilkes Senior Village for their loving care and friendship over the past two and one half years and to Wake Forest Care at Home Hospice.  
 Florence Shumate, 67

Mrs. Florence Sharon Shumate, age 67 of Wilkesboro passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Rock Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Henley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Shumate was born September 22, 1949 in Bluefield, W. VA to Leonard and Virgie Mae Landreth Shumate.  She retired from Tyson Foods after working 34 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sharon will be remembered for her strength, wisdom, strong will and ability to love everyone unconditionally. She is survived by 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 6 siblings. The things she enjoyed most was spending quality time with family and friends. She was a breast cancer survivor and lost her fight with lung cancer but gained her wings in heaven for eternity. Sharon will be greatly missed by everyone but never forgotten.

                                            Howard Raymond Love age 88

Mr. Howard Raymond Love age 88 of Millers Creek passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 at his home.  He was born February 24, 1929 in Wilkes County to Coy and Grace McDaniel Love.  Mr. Love was a member of Greater Vision Baptist Church.
     He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  During his working career, he worked for Empire Cadillac-Oldsmobile of Wilkesboro, B&L Motors and was part owner of Millers Creek Implement Company.  He was the owner of Howard Love's Garage in Millers Creek until his retirement.
     He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Mary Lee Shephard Love, two sons; Mike Love and wife Judy of Mulberry, Mark Love and wife Kim of Millers Creek, one daughter; Tina McNeil and husband Rodney of Millers Creek, six grandchildren; Travis McNeil, Zach Love, Tyler Gregory, Kandis McNeil, Lexie Love and Brantley Love, one great grandchild; Skylar Brown, two sisters; Mary Jane Rich and Betty Moose.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters; Pansy Love and Pauline Johnson and one brother; Willie Thomas Love.
     Funeral services were held  August 14, at Greater Vision Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Pardue and Pastor Lyn Lambert officiating.  Burial was  in Mountlawn Memorial Park.  Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 Honor Guard made presentation of the flag.

Louise Staley, 94

Mrs. Louise McLain Staley, age 94 of Wilkesboro passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the Villages of Wilkes.
     Funeral services were  August 14, at Fishing Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Cardwell and Rev. Darrell Poole officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.  
     Mrs. Staley was born June 3, 1923 in Wilkes County to Robert Sherrill "Jack" and Oma Mink McLain.  She was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Ray "Lee"  Staley; one sister, Betty McLain Mayberry; and two brothers, James David "Son" McLain and Robert Sherrill McLain.
     She is survived by two daughters, Judy Staley Anderson of Wilkesboro and Janet Staley Newsom and husband Robert of Signal Mt. TN.; two grandchildren, J. Keith Anderson and Derick Lee Anderson; three great grandchildren, Joseph Lee Anderson, Montana Shay Anderson and Staley Derick Anderson; and one great great grandson, Gannon Lee Anderson; and two sisters, Helen McLain Cox and Ruth McLain Moore, both of Wilkesboro.

 James Triplett, 63

James Charlie Triplett, age 63, of North Wilkesboro, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. He was born February 17, 1954 in Person  County, NC to Everett Mose and Sally Ann Whitt Triplett. Mr. Triplett was a US Navy Vietnam Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer Watson; and step son, Adam Hamby.
     Surviving are his daughters, Jamie Hamby of Lenoir, Brandy Janene Triplett of North Wilkesboro; companion, Brenda Munsey of North Wilkesboro; brothers, Junior Triplett and wife Tammy of North Wilkesboro, Ray Triplett of Bristol, Tennessee; sisters, Patsy Greene and husband Bill, Linda Hartley all of Lenoir; step sons, Erik Hamby and wife Grace of Ferguson, Alan Munsey and wife Mindy of Wilkesboro; step daughter, Heather Hemric and husband Bradley of Boomer; grandchildren, Noah Watson, Andrew Watson, Jarrod Hamby, Austin Hamby all of Lenoir; step grandchildren, Heather Hamby, Ethan Hamby, Kaid Hamby all of Ferguson, Taylor Munsey, Jack Munsey both of Wilkesboro, Rylee Hemric of Boomer.
     Memorial service was August 13,   at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jeff Collins officiating. Flowers will be accepted.                            Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.  
 David Wayne Hill, 53

Mr. David Wayne Hill, 53, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Wilkes Medical Center: Wake Forest Baptist Health.
     Mr. Hill was born Monday, May 18, 1964 to Claude James Hill and Betty Bryant Hill in Johnson City, TN.
     David was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was a professional logger with a ProLogger achievement award.  David married his best friend, Charlotte Staley Hill on September 29, 1996.  David was a devoted, loving and caring husband for 22 years.
     He was preceded in death by: his parents.
     Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife, Charlotte Staley Hill, of the home; two sisters, Teresa Ford and husband, Buster, of Hamptonville, Betty Bente of Pennsylvania; a brother, Landon Hicks and wife, Sherrie, of Hays.
     The funeral service was held  August 12, at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel, 2109 Moravian Falls Road. Rev. Tom Moore and Rev. Monty Mathis will be officiating. Burial   followed in the Shady Grove Baptist Church cemetery, 496 Reservoir Rd, Wilkesboro, NC.
      In addition to flowers, memorials may be made to: Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes, PO Box 396, Moravian  Falls, NC 28654 to help with funeral expenses.

 Delia Hawkins, 86

Miss Delia Carzettia Hawkins, age 86 of Hays went home to be with her Lord on August 9, 2017 surrounded by her family.
      Miss Hawkins was born April 12, 1931 in Wilkes County to Albert and Delphia Prevette Hawkins. She was a member of New Covenant Baptist Church.
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two granddaughters; Rebecca and Trina.  
     She is survived by one daughter; Dwana Hawkins and husband Daniel of Hays, three sons; Roby Hawkins and wife Mary, Robert Hawkins and wife Jo all of Hays, Ricky Hawkins and wife Rita, of North Wilkesboro, four grandchildren; Donnie, Teresa, Regina and Tina, nine great grandchildren; Kaity, Courtney, Rylan, Justin, Sonya, Jacob, Waylon, Jessica and Destiney, and five great great grandchildren; Kloe, Kaiden, Alyssa, Rebecca and JaDarius.
     A special thank you to Donna and Fay Brown and Angie Button and the Staff of Wilkes Senior Village.

 Carolyn Foster, 86

Carolyn June Cooke Foster, age 86, of North Wilkesboro, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at her home. She was born March 17, 1931 in Watauga County to John Paul and Pearl Jones Cooke. She was of the Baptist Faith, played the piano in many churches for over 80 years; and retired from Rose's Department Store. Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her parents.
     Surviving are her daughter, Anne Elizabeth Foster Grannaman and husband Rick of Mt. Airy; sons, Robert Grant Foster of Millers Creek, William Ivan Foster and wife Linda of McGrady; brothers, Joe Cooke and wife Dot of North Wilkesboro, Bob Cooke and wife Joyce of Goldsboro; sister, Frances Cooke Caudill and husband John of Millers Creek; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
     All services will be private. Flowers will be accepted.

 Mazella Bumgarner, 87

Mrs. Mazella Faw Bumgarner, age 87 of Wilkesboro passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at her home.
     Funeral services was held   August 13,   at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Hall, Rev. Mark Wood  and Rev. Kevin Brown officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  
     Mrs. Bumgarner was born August 22, 1929 in Wilkes County to James Thomas and Ettie Ellen Bare Faw.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  "Mazella was known by many names: Maze, Mazie, Mama, Mamaw, and Garner. She wore many hats: Christian, Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend. Many have fond memories of fun times in her basement beauty shop. Beyond her family, her greatest passion was cooking, which was evident in the excellences of her dishes. She will be remembered by the twinkle in those gorgeous blue eyes and the love she showered on those she loved."
     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; James Earl Bumgarner, two sisters; Geneva Eller and Virginia Deviney and one brother; Pritchard Faw.
     She is survived by three daughters; JoAnne Bumgarner, Delores Dowell and husband Jay all of Wilkesboro and Debra Barlow and husband Cecil of Millers Creek, six grandchildren; Tyana Martin, Angela Ellis, Heather Dancy, James Kijek, Kendra Birch and Eric Barlow, eighteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, two sisters; Louise Livingston of Boomer and Vivian Hamby of Ferguson and one brother; Clifford Faw of Wilkesboro.

 Fannie Reed, 82

Fannie Reed, age 82, of Wilkesboro, died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. She was born November 18, 1934 in McDowell County, West Virginia to Curtis and Dora Lester. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Burgess Reed.
      Surviving are her children, Della Riffe and husband Vernon, Larry Reed and wife Phyllis all of West Virginia, Ronnie Reed and wife Vicki of Hays, Patricia Jennings and husband Ricky of Millers Creek, Stella Matney and husband Tony, Teddy Reed and wife Alicia all of Wilkesboro; sister, Judy Walker of Virginia; ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Judy Carson Manning, age 70, of Millers Creek, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born December 10, 1946 in Wilkes County to Julius "Bill" Carson, Sr. and Louise Cardwell Carson. She was previously employed with Gateway Insurance for 25 years. Mrs. Manning was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, J.B. Carson.
Surviving are her daughter, Kimberly Wiles of Hays; son, Glen Manning of Tilghman, Maryland; sister, Sheila Walsh of Purlear; brother, Ronnie Carson of Seattle, Washington.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Pastor Joey Moore and Pastor Mark Barlow officiating. John Roy Parker, age 78, of North Wilkesboro, died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at his home. He was born March 29, 1939 in Wilkes County to Roy and Fannie Foster Parker. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ray Parker.
Surviving are his sisters, Anna Lee Williams of Wilkesboro, Sybil Love of Jonesville, Evelyn Parker of Wilkesboro; brother, Clay Parker of Wilkesboro; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Billie Sue Wiles, age 83 of Wilkesboro passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at her home.  
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Union United Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Marsh and Rev. Jim Purdy officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wiles was born March 20, 1934 in Wilkes County to Earl Winfield and Bruce Crysel Baker.  She retired from Wachovia Bank as a Teller.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Boyce Wiles, and one brother, Charles E. Baker.
She is survived by a daughter; Susan Weatherman and husband Rickey of Wilkesboro and a son; Bryan Wiles and wife Donna of Charlotte, and two grandchildren; Brittany L. Wiles and Heather Wiles Bagley and husband Jacob.

Mrs. Phyllis Sue Wood-Guilford, age 85 of Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of North Wilkesboro passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Sturgill Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 12, 2017at Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Joel Blevins officiating.  Entombment will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service at Mountlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel.
Mrs. Guilford was born April 29, 1932 in Wilkes County to Charles and Estelle Wood.  She was a former employee of Harry W. Nice Memorial Bridge in Newburg, Maryland and was a member of the Moose Club and Shriner's Club.  She also enjoyed ceramics, crocheting and playing bridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Dan Irvine, second husband John Guilford, sons Danny Irvine and Randy Irvine, nephew Mark Wooten and brother Bobby Wood.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Hardy and husband Robert of Spring Hill, Florida, one sister Sheilah Conway and husband Joel of Moravian Falls, one brother Gerald Wood and wife Deena of Wilkesboro and four nephews Kevin Wood and Westley Wood both of North Wilkesboro, Jim Wood and Jerry Wood both of Phoenix, Arizona.

Rylan’s and Tatiana’s twins, William and Victoria have grown up as well. Like his brother and his wife, Rylan and Tatiana had another child, Precious, after moving out as well.
