Surprise- Ryan Sampson x OC
Ryan Sampson x Lucy Margaux
Description: Lucy decides to surprise Ryan while he’s filming Plebs in Bulgaria.
Word Count: 1.6k
Lucy almost couldn’t contain her excitement as she stepped off the plane in Sofia, Bulgaria. It had been nearly four months since she had seen her fiance. She had gotten a part as a secondary character in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which meant she had to fly to Hawaii for the next two to three months. Of course time was added for any reshoots or scenes added, which totalled in being away for almost four months.
By the time she returned home though, Ryan was already in Bulgaria filming the fourth season of Plebs. She missed him dearly, an empty house was the exacting she didn’t want to come home to. Of course Ryan would be home soon enough, but she wanted to see him now. She wanted to lay in his arms and just relax until she’d eventually have to leave for the premiere of the movie in America.
After being home for less than a week, she got an idea: why not just go to Ryan? After making several calls to Sam Liefer and Tom Basden (writer who also played Aurelius), she made plans to go to Bulgaria. Then, a few days later she was finally here! Tom B didn’t have to be at the studio until 3:00, which gave him plenty of time to pick Lucy up from the airport.
“Lucy,” the man in question called loud enough for the girl to hear as she grabbed her luggage from the luggage claim. She whipped around, a bright smile already on her face. The two friends met each other halfway in a tight hug.
“Wow, you look incredible,” Tom complimented as they pulled away. “I see Hawaii treated you well with a tan.” Lucy giggled and nodded.
“Well I was in the sun almost all day for four months straight,” she responded amusedly. “I’d be mad if I didn’t get a tan.” He shook his head at her then grabbed one of her suitcases, beginning to lead her out. They made pleasant conversation as he drove her to Ryan’s temporary home during filming. Thankfully, she already had the spare key after staying with him during filming of series three. Tom was kind enough to help her bring her stuff inside then head to the Nu Boyana Film Studios, where Plebs was mostly filmed.
They had to be as quiet as possible when walking inside so as to not alert Ryan, who was filming a scene with John and Tom R, that they were there. The plan was to arrive, get her stuff inside, go to the studio, get into costume, then surprise Ryan during filming. So far, the plan is going well.
They managed to get past everyone and walked into one of the makeup trailers, where the makeup artist Mariana was waiting. It didn’t take her long to do hair and makeup, and before she knew it she was in her character’s dress and waiting for her cue to go on. Now that she had a minute to breathe, she became nervous. Logically, she knew that she had no reason to be, it was just Ryan. Maybe it was just the excitement of seeing him again after three months. Thankfully, she didn’t have to ponder over it for long before she heard Tom R recite his line.
“Grumio, you’re literally a co-founder of the Crown and Toga, you shouldn’t have to be alone on a couple's night.” That was Lucy’s cue to come in. She walked in timidly, channelling her character Daphne as she made her way over to the men.
“Excuse me, is this seat taken?” She asked coyly upon reaching the table that Ryan was sitting at. Tom’s mouth dropped open when he realized that she was there. Ryan instantly whipped around, and in his shock he stood and walked a few steps away. Lucy laughed as the rest of the cast and crew cheered at the man’s reaction. She and Tom high-fived each other then hugged.
“I didn’t know you were coming here,” Tom said over the noise. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
“Only Sam and Basden knew. I didn’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone,” she explained happily. He chuckled and kissed her cheek then pulled away shortly before Ryan turned around once more and practically ran over to her.
She barely had time to open her arms before he wrapped his arms around her tightly. Ryan laughed in disbelief, almost as if he was expecting her to disappear when he touched her, then picked her up and spun her. That made her let out a surprised squeal and her arms tightened around his neck until he finally set her down. Before she had time to process it, Ryan leaned down and pressed his lips to hers, which made the cheers of those around them pick up once more.
“What’re you doing here?” He asked with another laugh upon pulling away. “I thought you were just going to wait for me back in London?” Lucy shrugged coyly.
“I had a change of plans,” she explained with a bright smile. “I wanted to come see you. Besides, Sam wanted Daphne to come back for a few more episodes.”
“Wait, so you’re here to stay?” He asked excitedly.
“Until filming ends, yes,” she responded with a small giggle. That made him happy enough to pull her into another hug.
Almost no work was done for the rest of that day. Anytime Ryan was supposed to be on screen, he wouldn’t stop glancing at Lucy whether she was on or off camera. Eventually Sam decided to call it a day for everyone, and they had the rest of the evening off. Ryan decided to have a dinner party with Sam, both Toms, John and Sofia to celebrate Lucy’s arrival. That meant a trip to the grocery store, so once the couple was ready, they headed to the nearest grocery store.
“What are we trying to make for dinner? I feel like that’s the first question we should ask,” Lucy said as they grabbed a cart. “I’m not about to just walk all over the store without a plan. I’ve been in a total of three time zones in the past week.” Ryan hummed thoughtfully as he began pushing the cart around, Lucy following alongside him.
“What about Soupe à L'oignon?” He suggested.
“Why that?” She laughed, looking at him.
“It’s your favorite,” he shrugged. “What better way to celebrate you than to make your favorite meal?” Lucy cooed at him then kissed his cheek.
“You’re sweet,” she responded before beginning to inspect the French bread. Ryan watched her amusedly then shook his head.
Dinner ended up being lovely. Ryan and Lucy taught everyone about making French food and they made pleasant conversation throughout dinner. Lucy had to admit, she missed everyone. She, of course, had been cast in the movie before filming for Plebs started so she couldn’t be signed on right away. Now that she had talked to Sam and Tom B and caught up with everyone, she couldn’t be happier to be on. The others left around 11:00, and Lucy cleaned up while Ryan saw them out. As she worked on washing the dishes, she suddenly gasped when arms wrapped around her waist. She relaxed a moment later when Ryan’s chin rested on her shoulder.
“I missed you so much,” he muttered, pressing a kiss to the shell of her ear.
“I missed you too,” she responded softly, moving her head enough to look at him. A small soft smile graced her fiance’s face and he pecked her lips gently.
“Why don’t you go get ready for bed? I can finish up here,” he offered. Usually, Lucy would argue and say that she could manage, but she was still rather tired. It had been a long day after all. So, instead she nodded, offering him one more kiss before heading to the bedroom. She changed into her pajamas and climbed into bed, snuggling into the soft duvet on it.
Just a few minutes later she heard the bedroom door close and footsteps walking around the room. Ryan didn’t take long to change into his pajamas and crawl into bed beside her. Lucy rolled over to face him, laughing when she realized how close his face was to hers.
“Well hello there,” she giggled out.
“Hi,” the boy chuckled. “Come here often?”
“Oh, just a few months out of the year,” she played along. “I’m staying with my amazing fiance for the time being.”
“Oh really?” He inquired. “What’s he like?”
“He’s incredibly handsome,” she started, which made him laugh. “But that’s not all I see in him. He’s funny, very intelligent, and he has a lot of patience for my stupidity. He’s my favorite person and the love of my life.” Ryan couldn’t hide his blush as she finished speaking.
“I have a fiance as well, you know.”
“Oh, and what’s she like?” She asked with a playful smile.
“She’s absolutely gorgeous,” he answered matter-of-factly. “And she has such a carefree soul. She’s compassionate and calming to be around. She is the light of my life.”
“Well, she sounds wonderful,” Lucy spoke, smiling so wide it almost hurt.
“You are,” Ryan responded softly, dropping the act. The girl hummed in response, her eyes beginning to droop as her exhaustion wore in on her.
“Let’s get some sleep, yeah?” Ryan suggested before pressing a kiss to her cheek. Lucy only nodded and allowed him to move enough to turn off the bedside lamp before cuddling close to him.
“I love you Ryan,” she muttered tiredly as her eyes closed. She didn’t have to look at him to know he was grinning at her.
“I love you too Lucy.”

Milestones- Ryan Sampson x OC
Ryan Sampson x Lucy Margaux
Description: Goes through the years of Ryan and Lucy’s relationship.
Word Count: 2.4k
1. Meeting
“Alright, just in here Lucy,” the casting director, Catherine, instructed as she led a girl into the room. Lucy followed the woman obediently, straightening out her skirt before she came into view of everyone else in the room. She nearly lost her breath when her eyes landed on Tom, Rosenthal, Joel Fry, and Ryan Sampson. The trio was sitting in three out of the four chairs, waiting patiently for the women to enter. Once they heard Catherine instruct Lucy, they stood with polite smiles.
“Alright boys, this is Lucy Margaux,” she introduced them, gesturing to the girl in question. “Lucy I assume you know who Tom, Ryan and Joel are.”
“I do,” she responded before smiling at the men in front of her. “It’s nice to meet you all, I’m a big fan of the show.” She held out her hand, Joel shook it first, then Tom. Ryan was the last one to shake her hand, and he held on the longest. Lucy didn’t even realize that their hands were still connected until they heard the secondary casting director, Mariana, clear her throat. They glanced at her in unison, then down at their hands. They pulled away quickly and Lucy looked away shyly. She heard Tom and Joel snickering behind Ryan, then looked up just in time to see him look back at his friends with a glare. Mariana passed out a small packet to the boys and Tom, suppressing a chuckle.
“Alright, playing the role of Daphne for this chemistry read is Lucy Margaux,” Catherine spoke, taking a seat beside the camera once it turned on. “We will begin with Daphne’s introduction to the boys. You have your scripts, begin when you’re ready.” The four nodded in unison then turned to the first page. Lucy took a deep breath then gasped when Tom suddenly bumped into her.
“Oi! Watch where you’re going, would you? These apples aren’t exactly easy to carry,” she demanded, leaning down and acting as if she were picking up apples.
“Yeah, Marcus,” Joel spoke in character, pretending to be interested in the girl. “Terribly sorry about him, he’s a nitwit.” Tom, called a small ‘hey’ as Joel “helped” her. When they stood, Joel shot her a confident smirk.
“How about I make it up to you?” He asked suggestively. “I know a few different ways.” Lucy and Tom rolled their eyes in unison.
“Yeah, thanks but no thanks,” she responded, beginning to move past him. That was in vain as she nearly bumped into Ryan, who was staring at her stupidly with his hand in the air. Lucy’s eyes glanced down at the script, reading that Grumio was supposed to be holding up an apple. Her eyes swept over to Ryan once more and she gingerly reached and “grabbed” the invisible fruit from his hand.
“Thank you,” she said shortly, shooting the man an appreciative smile. The man also smiled then shrugged.
“Weren’t nothing,” he brushed off. “Need any help?”
“Oh, no thank you anyways, uh,” she trailed off expectantly.
“Grumio,” he finished simply.
“Daphne,” she introduced happily.
“And I’m Stylax,” Joel added, but Lucy ignored him. The reading continued for the next ten minutes. They went through just about the entire script before Catherine stopped them.
“Alright, Mari cut the camera.” Mariana did as she was told and everyone looked at Catherine. Lucy was the most nervous out of all of them, but she had a reason to be. Catherine stared between the four of them thoughtfully, then leaned back in her chair.
“Well, it looked great to me,” she finally said, which made Lucy’s hopes rise. “You got the part. Your first episode’s filming begins next week. You’ll get a call within the next few days with all the pertinent details. Thank you Miss Margaux, and congratulations.” It took all Lucy had not to scream excitedly.
“Thank you so much,” she spoke with a smile so wide it almost hurt her cheeks.
“Congratulations Lucy,” Ryan added. Though he was chuckling, she could tell that he was being genuine, which made her grateful.
“Yeah, welcome to the shit show,” Tom said, ruining the moment in one of the funniest ways possible. She already knew she made the right choice by auditioning for Plebs.
2. Asking Her Out/First Date
Lucy was still getting into the flow of being on the show, it was a working process for everyone. Thankfully she had Ryan there to help her when she needed it. They’d gotten rather close since she joined the cast, and though everyone made her feel welcome, no one did more than Ryan. Heck, he’d even begun texting her outside of the casts’ group chat. They talked everyday no matter what. That’s why she wasn’t really surprised when he asked her out after a long day of filming.
They made plans for that Saturday at around 3:00, and Lucy couldn’t be more excited. She spent the entire morning deciding what to wear, she really liked him and wanted it to be perfect. Finally once 3:00 struck, there was a knock on her door, and she had to restrain herself from running to the door.
“Hey, right on time,” she half teased after opening the door. Ryan stood there with a bright smile and a bouquet of pink Ranunculus flowers in his hands.
“Yeah, well I couldn’t have you waiting for me,” he responded with a chuckle before holding out the flowers. “I didn’t know what your favorite flowers were, so I had to guess.” Lucy couldn’t hide her blush as she gingerly took the bouquet.
“They’re beautiful Ryan, thank you,” she responded happily.
“They’re a bit shadowed by you,” he shot back smoothly, which made her blush deepen.
“Such a flirt,” she playfully reprimanded. “I’m going to go find a vase for these. Come on in.” She opened the door wider for him then headed to the kitchen. She didn’t need to look back to know that the boy was following her. It didn’t take her long to find a vase and she placed the flowers in it after filling it with water.
“Alright, ready to go?” She asked, turning to face him. She was surprised to see him staring at her with a look she couldn’t quite describe.
“Yeah, let’s go.” He held out his hand for her, which she took obediently, then they were off.
Ryan ended up taking her to an old fashioned ice cream parlor. They shared an ice cream sundae and talked about anything they could think of until the shop closed. Even then they continued the date by taking a walk around the park near Lucy’s house. After their feet finally grew tired, Ryan walked her up to her doorstep and pressed a kiss to her cheek before bidding her farewell. Lucy could say without a doubt that that was the best date she’d ever been on thus far, and Ryan definitely felt the same way because he asked her on another date the very next day.
3. First Kiss
It was New Year’s Eve, the first New Year’s Eve party she’d ever spent with the Plebs cast and crew. But more importantly, her first New Year’s with Ryan. They’d been dating for nearly four months at that point, and they hadn’t had their first kiss yet. It never seemed like the right time, and the both of them wanted it to be perfect.
Ryan and Lucy showed up to Sam Liefer’s house together when the party was just starting. Now the house was full and the party was in full swing as the night grew later and later.
“One minute!” Tom B called around the house. By this point Ryan and Lucy had separated to talk to other people, but after Tom made the announcement, she made her way out of the kitchen and into the crowded living room. This was one of the few times that Lucy was annoyed that both she and her boyfriend were at least a few inches shorter than most everyone there because it made finding him infinitely harder.
“Ten!” He wasn’t near the kitchen.
“Nine!” Nor was he in the dining room.
“Eight!” He wasn’t by the hallway.
“Seven!” Not in any of the bedrooms.
“Six!” Or the bathrooms.
“Five!” Not by the front door either.
“Four!” There he was!
“Three!” He was by the window in front of the chanting crowd.
“Two!” Lucy began walking towards him, calling his name above the crowd.
“One!” Ryan spotted her and began meeting her halfway.
“Happy New Year!” Ryan said nothing as they reached each other, and instead wrapped his arms around her waist. Before Lucy could say anything, Ryan pulled her to his chest and pressed his lips against hers. The girl blushed profusely but didn’t pull away. Instead, her arms went around his neck and she returned the kiss. The fireworks outside were nothing compared to what the couple felt when they kissed. For a fleeting moment, they forgot that they weren’t the only ones in the room, then whoops and hollers emitted from everyone as they realized what had just happened.
“GET IT RYAN!” They heard Joel yell above everyone else. That made the couple pull away, both of them giggling like lovesick fools. And that’s exactly what they were, they realized as they looked at each other once more. Not that either of them minded.
4. First Anniversary
For their one year anniversary, Ryan decided to recreate their first date. They went back to Twisted Treats and shared another ice cream sundae. After that they took another walk in the park by Lucy’s house. It gave both of them a happy sense of nostalgia. Most of their conversations had been about memories of the past year.
One of those included Ryan not being able to focus during a panel while at a con because he wanted to hold her hand but they were in her lap so he made grabby hands at her until she noticed and grabbed his hand. Lucy’s favorite memory was Ryan attempting to speak in French to her (since she was born and raised in France) and being awful at it. But, Lucy thought it was very endearing and she was absolutely delighted about it. Ryan’s favorite was actually a tie between two. One was when they were just slow dancing while on the set of Plebs after he had a bad day, and the other one was when they were on set and Ryan sat on the couch while Lucy’s head laid in his lap and he was playing with her hair. That was their updated favorite date they’d ever been on.
5. Moving In
It wasn’t until after they had their four year anniversary that Ryan suggested they move in together. They practically lived at each other’s houses anyways, so they figured, why not? Lucy had one stipulation though: since it was an entirely new step in their life together, they should have an entirely new (to them) house together. Ryan had no problem with that, and the next few months between shooting for Plebs was spent house hunting.
After two months, Lucy finally found a nice house that seemed perfect for them. After a few tours of it, Ryan agreed that the house was perfect. It had three bedrooms and two bathrooms with plenty of space for both of them. The rent was fair as well, and they were moved in within the next month.
The process was rather difficult with the summer sun shining down on them harshly, but Ryan somehow managed to make it fun for his girlfriend. There were several times where Lucy would be taking a break from the heat and Ryan swooped her up, tossing her into the backyard pool that came with the house. Lucy made sure to return the oh so kind gesture with a water gun she purchased while out in the shops.
The two of them were sure they made the right choice with this house after their housewarming party. Their friends and family had just left, Ryan seeing them out. When he returned he noticed Lucy dance around as she cleaned up the living room. He watched her dance for a minute before walking up behind her. His arms wrapped around her waist from behind and he began swaying to the music playing in the background. Though surprised at first, Lucy quickly melted into his touch and they continued to dance for a long time. Eventually they decided that cleaning could wait until tomorrow and happily went to bed in their new house.
6. Proposal
It had been at Ryan's 35th birthday party and they just finished giving him his presents. Lucy was helping Sofia throw away the wrapping paper when Ryan suddenly stood.
“Alright, I know that this is my birthday and all, but there’s still a gift I have for someone,” he announced, making everyone look amongst themselves confusedly. “Lucy,” he called softly, gesturing to his girlfriend to come closer to him. Lucy glanced at Sofia curiously before doing so, trying to figure out why the girl was smiling like that. Ryan’s arm went around her as he looked around at all their friends and family.
“This party couldn’t have happened without this amazing woman right here,” he started proudly while Lucy took notice that Tom was holding his phone up as if recording something. “She’s the one who planned everything and made sure that I would have a good time. But that’s not something she does only on occasion. She’s always been there to help me and guide me through gatherings such as this without so much as a hint of annoyance, which I know she probably has.” The crowd chuckled at that. “She’s been with me through thick and thin and I’m so lucky to have her. I genuinely can’t even begin to imagine my life without her. So,” he said.
Various gasps emitted from the crowd, but Lucy couldn’t bring herself to speak as her boyfriend lowered to one knee. He pulled something out of his pocket then held it up to her. It was a ring, she realized as her hands went to her mouth.
“Lucy Règine Margaux, you’ve been making me happy for the past seven years, but I know a way that you can make me even happier. Veux-tu m'épouser (Will you marry me)?” Lucy didn’t hesitate to nod.
“Of course I’ll marry you,” she responded with a small, teary-eyed laugh. Their friends and family nearly deafened the couple as Ryan stood and slipped the ring on her finger. The couple embraced tightly and people began to surround them to congratulate them, but they could only focus on each other. Because they were the only person they needed.

Behind the Romance- Ryan Sampson x OC
Ryan Sampson x Lucy Margaux
Description: Ryan and Lucy are invited to the internet show “Behind the Romance,” where they’re shown the progression of their relationship in the form of videos and clips.
Word Count: 2.6k
“Are we doing the intro now?” Lucy asked, looking at the director behind the camera. She moved her legs so she was sitting with her legs crossed on the bed, adjusting the hood of her Piglet onesie on her head.
“Yep,” the director, Sarah, responded with a nod. “Just say something like- introduce yourselves and explain what you’ll be doing here today. Cameras are rolling so whenever you guys are ready.”
“Alright, want me to do it?” Lucy questioned, looking at her fiancé. Sam nodded from beside Lucy then leaned back against the headboard. She nodded as well and faced the camera with a bright smile.
“Welcome back to Behind the Romance everyone,” she greeted. “I’m Lucy Margaux.”
“And I am Ryan Sampson,” Ryan added, also grinning at the camera.
“And we are engaged. Today we’re here in our pajamas ready to watch and react to the videos that the lovely crew of this show have compiled together for us,” Lucy finished with a giggle.
“These weren’t originally our pajamas,” he pointed out to those who don’t know.
“Yeah, they sent us these like three days before we came here,” she nodded.
“Right, and what do you have over there, Lucy?” Ryan questioned, trying to look around her. Lucy turned to the nightstand beside the bed then perked up.
“Ooh, they’ve given us some complimentary wine,” the girl responded, reaching over and picking up the empty wine glasses. She then handed one of the glasses to the man beside her and picked up the bottle of wine from the bucket of ice it sat in.
“We have a bottle of,” she trailed off as she brought the bottle closer to her to read the label. “2020 Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio Alto Adige. I didn’t understand half of those words but man does it sound expensive.” She began attempting to remove the cork from the bottle in vain.
“Do you need me to try?” Ryan asked amusedly.
“No I’m a strong independent who doesn’t need a man,” she responded shortly before holding the bottle out for him with a pout. “I need help.” Ryan, along with the crew, laughed at the sudden change in attitude as the boy grabbed the bottle. It took him a couple tries but he finally managed to get it open. The cork flew out past the cameras with a loud pop, which made Lucy scream in surprise and jump away.
“Jesus Christ, Ryan!” She exclaimed, holding a hand to her chest.
“What?” The boy replied defensively, trying not to laugh. “How was I supposed to know it was going to do that?” Lucy rolled her eyes and shook her head, picking up her glass.
“Just pour me some wine so we can get on with this,” she demanded, holding out her glass for him. “Please.” Ryan scrunched up his nose but obliged with a grin to her.
“Since you asked so nicely,” he retorted sarcastically. Lucy rolled her eyes and took the bottle once Ryan was done filling his cup, placing it back into the bucket of ice.
“Anyways, ready to start it?” Lucy asked, to which Ryan nodded. The girl nodded and leaned forward, pressing play on the video in front of them.
From the looks of it, they seemed to be on the set of Plebs. Ryan, Tom and Joel were in a small circle, all in their respective characters of Grumio, Marcus and Stylax. It was the Herpes Cat episode from season 1, the scene where Grumio thought that his missing lottery ticket had been eaten by a cat that had died.
“What are the chances of the lottery ticket being in the cat?” Marcus questioned. Grumio thought about the question.
“50/50,” he answered after a moment. Marcus hummed with an incredulous look on his face.
“Right,” he spoke, sounding as if he didn’t believe him. “And even if it is, what are the chances that that is the winning ticket?”
“50/50,” the slave responded, sounding more sure this time.
“Well it clearly isn’t,” Marcus stated.
“Course it is,” Grumio retorted flatly.
“How are the chances of you winning the lottery 50/50?”
“Either I will win it, or I won’t.” Before any of them could react, a laugh came from behind the camera. Several people, including Joel, the director Sam and Ryan groaned dramatically.
“Lucy!” Sam exclaimed, shortly before the camera panned over to the girl in question, who was standing not far from the set.
“I’m sorry!” She exclaimed, still laughing. “I don’t know why that line delivery was so funny to me.” Ryan groaned yet again, and the camera followed him as he walked over to the girl.
“You’ve gotta shhhh!” He called despite being right in front of her. His hands cupped her face, which made her start laughing again. That gave him cause to shush her again just as melodramatically. He whispered something into her ear that the camera couldn’t pick up then walked back over to Tom and Joel. Lucy’s lips pressed together in a smile and she clasped her hands in front of her stomach.
“Ready to try again?” Sam questioned, making the guys nod.
“Alright, still rolling.”
The clip ended, and Ryan glanced at Lucy only to see her holding back a laugh.
“I remember that day. Sam had to ask Lucy to leave the set because she wouldn’t stop laughing at that scene,” he commented. Sarah grinned from behind the camera.
“What was it that he whispered to you?” She questioned, crossing one leg over the other in her chair. That’s what made Lucy giggle as she remembered back to that moment.
“He told me, in the absolute sweetest voice I think I’ve ever heard him use, to shut the hell up.” Ryan burst out laughing at the way she said it matter-of-factly, then shrugged when the others began laughing.
“What can I say? I guess chivalry isn’t dead,” he said simply. Lucy finished her glass as he talked, then refilled it, also topping off Ryan’s while she was at it.
“Moving on?” The boy asked. Once the others calmed down, he was given the okay to continue the video, so he pressed play.
This time it was the first episode from season 4, where Lucy’s character Daphne is meeting Jason, the builder who accidentally killed Stylax.
“So, you’re the one that killed Stylax?” Daphne questioned, crossing her arms. Jason nodded his head, looking guilty.
“I really didn’t mean to, it was just our boss Cassius isn’t big on safety,” he explained, but Daphne held a hand up to stop him.
“I know, Marcus told me. Doesn’t make it any less sad though,” she answered simply. Jason’s eyebrows knit together.
“Are you his girlfriend?” He questioned, making her eyebrows raise.
“No, but Gods knows how much he wished for it,” she grumbled in response.
“Does that mean you’re single?” His guilty expression morphed into a hopeful one.
“What the hell mate? You just killed my best friend, now you’re hitting on my girl?” Ryan yelled jokingly, which caused Lucy and Jonathan (who played Jason) to break character. The two of them laughed as Ryan marched over to them, acting like he was about to fight Jonathan.
“Down boy,” Tom cut in with a laugh, pretending to hold Ryan back.
“No Ryan! You’re the only one for me,” Lucy exclaimed dramatically, resting her hands on his chest to “stop” him.
“Tell that to him!” The boy cried, gesturing to the man beside her before dropping the act with a chuckle. “Alright sorry,” he spoke as he walked off behind the camera. Lucy leaned down a bit as she laughed then upon standing straight again, she got back into character. She couldn’t get a word out before they began to laugh again.
“Man you were in such a silly mood that day,” Lucy said after they paused the video.
“Yeah, I don’t even know why. I think it’s because we were still getting used to having John around, I didn’t really know what to do with myself so I thought that messing around would get everyone more comfortable in the environment.”
“So you do know why,” Lucy pointed out with a grin.
“You- I…” he stopped and just took another drink of his wine, which made Lucy laugh. “Just play the next video,” was all Ryan could come up with for a response. Lucy shook her head, but did as he said.
This time they weren’t on the set of Plebs, it looked like they were getting ready for some sort of interview. “They” being Ryan, Lucy, Tom, Joel and Tom Basden (who played Aurelius). The five of them sat in director chairs side by side with another chair off to the side where their interviewer would sit. As they waited for said interviewer to arrive, they all made small talk with each other. Ryan had been talking with Tom B when he looked over at his girlfriend.
“What’s wrong?” He inquired, leaning closer to her so their conversation could be a bit more private.
“My hair,” Lucy answered, seeing no point in lying to him. “I don’t think I’m very happy with how they did it.” She gestured to her hair, which sat completely straight. Ryan pursed his lips then nodded. Without a word he suddenly stood up and walked behind her chair. The guys watched him, curious as to what he was up to. Even Lucy was confused for a moment, then she felt his fingers run through her hair.
“Hold still, yeah?” He instructed as he separated her hair into three sections, beginning to braid it. Lucy’s head tilted down a bit so he had more room to work with and took the time to get on her phone. After a few minutes he finally finished and used a ponytail on his wrist to tie the end of it.
“That better?” He questioned as he walked around to her side. The girl answered with a simple ‘yeah’ and moved her braid in front of her shoulder, running her fingers along the braids. The guys cooed teasingly when she kissed his cheek and the boy blushed shyly, telling them to bugger off while he sat back down in his chair.
“Aww that was so sweet,” Lucy said. “I completely forgot about that.”
“Wait so you just knew when something was bothering Lucy?” Sarah questioned, looking amazed.
“Yeah,” Ryan shrugged. “I’m usually able to spot any changes in Lucy’s behavior so I just kind of know how she feels about a certain situation. It’s the same with her as well, I think.” Lucy nodded at that and took another sip of her wine.
“Definitely,” she agreed. “I think it’s mostly just because we’ve known each other for almost eight years and dating for seven at this point. You have time to learn their mannerisms and understand how they process things so when something happens you can tell what’s going through their head.” Ryan nodded and took her hand. She smiled at him, leaning over to peck his lips. Sarah grinned at the interaction.
“Well, there are only a few more clips you need to look at, but they’re just random small ones that you don’t have to explain so you can just sit back and watch, yeah?” The couple nodded at her then Lucy leaned forward to press play.
Sarah hadn’t been lying. The last two minutes of the compilation were filled with random moments all from interviews and cons and such. It was mostly them acting cute, which made both of them smile. During one clip, Ryan couldn’t focus on their interview because he wanted to hold Lucy’s hand but they were in her lap so he made grabby hands at her until she obliged. In another clip they were doing a panel at some con where they just kept on talking to each other, looking as if they forgot everyone else was there until Tom R got their attention. A different clip showed Ryan attempting to speak in French to her (since she was born and raised in France) and being awful at it, but Lucy being absolutely delighted at it. There was one where they were just slow dancing on the set of Plebs, and another one where they were on set and Ryan sat on the couch while Lucy’s head laid in his lap and he was playing with her hair.
There were many other clips, but the last one was their favorite. It was a clip, they recognized, that Tom R had recorded and shared to Instagram. It was a video of when Ryan proposed to Lucy.
It had been at his birthday party and they just finished giving him his presents. Lucy was helping Sofia throw away the wrapping paper when Ryan suddenly stood.
“Alright, I know that this is my birthday, but there’s still a gift I have for someone,” he announced, making everyone look between themselves confusedly.
Just before the video cut, the couple embraced tightly and people could be seen beginning to surround them to congratulate them.
“That was so nice,” Lucy said with a small smile. “It felt like we were reliving each stage of our relationship.” Ryan nodded and wrapped his arm around her.
“I love you,” he muttered softly, which made her heart melt. She knew he meant it too.
“I love you too,” she said sweetly, making everyone watching’s hearts melt. Sarah said something to them from off camera, which made them look over.
“Right,” Ryan started, straightening up and looking at the camera with a toothy grin. “Thank you everyone for watching this episode of Behind the Romance. We hope to see you next time. Goodbye!” Lucy sat beside him, taking his hand.
“Bye guys,” she said rather happily as both of them waved with their free hands. Just before the cameras cut, Ryan and Lucy shared a sweet kiss that made Sarah ‘aww’ at them. She didn’t even need to make an episode about it to see that they were truly in love.
