– The Tarot Card Killer
CASE LEVEL: Three
POINTS REQUIRED: Four Hundred
OVERVIEW:
A string of mysterious murders have recently caught the attention of MACUSA, and sent shockwaves through the wixen community. The first reported murder was that of Cerelia LeClair, a twenty-six year old pureblood, and self-identified seer. Cerelia had been conducting psychic readings out of her home in Panama City, Florida since she first graduated from Ilvermorny. On the evening of August 15th, 1996, a customer of Cerelia’s had shown up to her home for their monthly reading with the seer. When Cerelia had not answered the door they grew concerned, and entered the residence themself. It was then when they discovered the young witch slumped over her reading table, dead from an apparent poisoning. This was assumed due to the chalky pink film pooling from her lips. When the local aurors investigated the scene they found an additional clue in that of a tarot card, specifically the empress, clutched in her hand. The local auror division chalked up the killing to that of a spurned client, and began investigating the case as so. Unbeknownst to the Florida Auror Division, one month later another seer would be killed in a similar fashion. This seer was thirty-seven year old halfblood, Peter Bartee, who ran a psycic shop out of Montgomery, Alabama. Like Cerelia, Peter was found with a pink film on his lips, as well as a tarot card tucked into his shirt pocket. This tarot card would be that of the hanged man.
Six months would pass and two more bodies would be discovered, all in varying locations, all seers who died of a poisoning, with major arcana tarot cards on their person. MACUSA wouldn’t link these crimes to one another until the fourth victim was found in Gulfport, Mississippi. Up until that point the murders at been treated as distinct cases, due to the fact all were in different auror divisions, and none of the divisions were communicating with one another about the murders. This fifth murder would change that however, as it was the second to occur in Mississippi, and it was then when the division began looking for other possible victims. Once it was realized the murders crossed state borders, the case was handed over to MACUSA, who assigned it to the Central Squad due to all of the cases taking place in their timezone. Since MACUSA picked the case up, the story has hit the main stream of wixen news media. Seerers from throughout the U.S have grown fearful for their lives, and many have ramped up security measures at their businesses, while others have closed down shop completely. This has seemingly not deterred the murderer however, as the most recent victim has just been discovered in Freeport, Texas. It is now up to the aurors to find this killer before any more innocent lives are lost.
PERSONS OF INTEREST:
Cerelia LeClair: The first victim. Cerelia was a twenty-six year old pureblood. She was found dead in her home in Panama City, FL, with the empress tarot card in her hand.
Peter Bartee: The second victim. Peter was a thirty-seven year old halfblood. He was found in his shop in Montgomery, AL with the hanged man tarot card in his shirt pocket.
Zaahid Iman: The third victim. Zaahid was a fifty-nine year old pureblood, and self described “traveling psychic”. They were found in the woods, around a campfire outside their RV in Moss Point, MS. The hermit tarot card was found in their back pocket.
Flaminia Pepitin: The fourth victim. Flaminia was a forty-eight year old no-maj born out of Gulfport, MS. She was found on her back porch, slumped over a patio table. The high priestess tarot card was found rolled into her belt loop.
Constantine Arteaga: The fifth victim. Constatine was a fifty-two year old pureblood. His wife claims he had the gift of sight from his mother, but never used it. He was found dead at a casino in Biloxi, MS with the emperor tarot card found within a hand of cards he’d been holding.
Chesil Bly: The sixth victim. Chesil was a thirty year old halfblood, he was found in his kitchen where he was said to often conduct tea readings out of his home in Shell Beach, LA. The fool tarot card was found sticking out of his shoe.
Nova Nakai: The seventh victim. Nova, a pureblood, was the youngest victim at sixteen. Nova was not a professional seer, but often performed readings for her friends. She was found on a park bench in Beaumont, LA. Tucked into the side of her sunglasses, was the star tarot card.
Dinah Black: The eighth victim. Dinah was a sixty-eight year old halfblood seer, and host of the popular radio program, Dinah Devines. She was found deceased in her radio station in Houston, TX, with the judgement tarot card in her coat pocket.
Ailene Midnight: The ninth victim. Ailene was a twenty-three year old seer, who wrote horoscopes for the local wixen newspaper in Galveston, TX. They were found in their office cubicle, the sun tarot card was tucked into the keys of their typewriter, which sat in front of them.
Josiah Cain: (cw: schizophrenia) The tenth victim. Josiah was a fifty-three year old no-maj born. Josiah had suffered greatly from paranoid schizophrenia, and was homeless at the time of his death. He was considered to be a doomsday preacher, who would often stand on street corners of Freeport, TX, predicting the end of days. When he was found, the tarot card of the devil was safety-pinned to his shirt.
CHIEF’S NOTES:
Wow, this is really serious guys. We should do something.
- Chief Ben Eames
There are twenty-two major arcana cards, and we’ve allowed this asshole to get through almost half of them. This case had previously been assigned to a different team within our squad, but Commissioner Henshawe requested us to switch out aurors, both in order to get some fresh eyes on this case, and to give some relief to the previous aurors who seemed to have hit a wall. Their findings have been left on your desk in folders marked “T.C. Case”. Josiah Cain’s body was found this morning, and the local aurors are still processing the scene. I would recommend getting down there quickly, before they’ve cleared it.
- Deputy Chief Langer

There is something special about spending time near the water and there is no better way to get to your favorite waterfront destination then by RV. RVs are one of the only modes of travel that allow you to bring many of the comforts of home and park it at the water’s edge. In many cases you can literally stay on the beach. Here we will be looking at some of the top waterfront RV destinations and we will break them down by region.
Eastern USA
The Eastern US has many great waterfront locations. Starting in the North is Acadia National Park. To visit this great park and stay on the water try the Bar Harbor/Oceanside KOA. It is a great park and the waterfront location is outstanding both for its views and for its proximity to the park and Bar Harbor.   Heading south to Maryland you will find Assateague Island which is home to the Assateague Island State park and Assateague Island National Seashore. Both parks have RV camping spaces located on or adjacent to the beach facing the Atlantic Ocean. Ocean City, MD is short drive and offers a ton of entertainment options. The RV spots here are pretty basic, no full hookups, but the atmosphere is outstanding and watching the feral horses is a unique experience.   On the Rappahannock River just before it feeds into the Chesapeake Bay, you'll find two great parks for a family getaway. Bethapage and their sister park, Grey's Point, feature river access and on-site waterparks for the kids. These two parks are consistently rated among the best in the country and for good reason.   Myrtle Beach, SC. The Grand Strand is a great destination for waterfront RVing. There are several large RV parks located here with sites that back right up to the dunes. The two largest, Lakewood and Ocean Lakes, are on the north end of town and both offer great access to all the activities the area has to offer.
Gulf Coast USA
No list of great water front RV destinations would be complete without a trip to the Florida Keys. You can call it east coast, or Gulf Coast, we call it fantastic. There are many great RV parks along the 106.5 miles of highway that pass through the islands. Some notable spots include Bahai Honda State Park, Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina, Curry Hammock State Park, and Blue Water Key RV Resort.   The Gulf Shores, Al area is a great waterfront RV destination. Buena Vista Costal RV Resort is just across from the beach and only a few minutes from town. Gulf State Park has an outstanding campground. It has several sites along a small inland lake, but the main attractions are the gulf fishing pier, a couple miles of pristine ocean beach and 25 miles of paved walking and cycling trails. It truly is a gem of a park that everyone should visit at least once.   Magnolia Beach, TX. While not a destination in and of itself, Magnolia Beach stands out as one of the best free camping beaches around. It is located about ½ way between Galveston and Corpus Christi. What makes this beach unique, aside from being free, is that it is located in an area where the tides are not very dramatic. So, you can park right on the beach with little worry of waking up wet.   South Padre Island, TX. This is beautiful and remote stretch of sand in Southern Texas and perfect for an RV. Isla Blanka RV Park is on the southern tip of the island. While its waterfront location is outstanding, the real joy here is the access to the road leading north along some of the best beaches and waterfront spaces Texas has to offer.
Western USA
Fort Warden State Park Beachfront Campground in Port Townsend, WA is a fantastic location. Fort Warden itself is a great historical park to visit. Neighboring Port Townsend is a great little seaside town which provides ferry access to Whidbey Island. Olympic National Park is less than an hour away as are Seattle, Sequim and Port Angeles which all make for great day trips.   Fort Stevens State Park, Astoria, OR. Fort Stevens State Park is the west coast Gulf State Park. While you cannot camp right on the waterfront here, the camping areas are first rate and there is a large network of walking/biking trails that lead to a large stretch of beach not far from the campground. Nearby Astoria is a great seaside town rich in history and culture as is much of the surrounding area.   Cape Lookout State Park, OR. This is one of the few locations on the Oregon Coast where you can beachfront camp. Its located just south of Tillamook and offers great access to this beautiful area.   Silver Strand State Beach, CA. This beachfront gem is on the Pacific side of the San Diego Bay. This area has near perfect weather year-round and the RV park is located right on the beach. From here you also have great access to all that San Diego has to offer.
International
There are many great waterfront RV destinations around the world as well. New Zealand offers great RVing opportunities on both the North and South Islands. Australia has a vibrant RV scene with many great locations to visit around the coast of the island. In Europe, the Mediterranean coast offers many great locations, particularly in Spain.   RVing offers many advantages to traditional travel and that is especially true when it comes to visiting waterfront destinations. RVs will give you greater access and allow you to bring the comforts of home with you. Here we have outlined some great RV waterfront destinations but there are many more out there to explore. Hopefully these ideas will inspire you to get out there and do just that.

March 22nd, Livingston LA
Left Galveston at 7am today. Long haul to Livingston LA which is about 20 miles east of baton rouge. The TX part of I10 was pretty good until you got to the border of LA then it got ugly. Lots of rough pavement and potholes, so we downshifted to Alaska driving going very slow 35 -45 mph only this time with hazards on.
In LA the road was new to rough. Then we got to a cool part for at least 10 miles where the road was basically a bridge across a large series of bayous. Boats were actually running in between the sides of the freeway.
Then we got into baton rouge and crawled for 8 miles which gave us plenty of time to see the Mississippi river, downtown, and the slum areas. Then we got cut off by a lousiana AHole. Thanks for that Jerk!
Got to the park after 2pm...long day. We are at lakeside rv park in Livingston. Nice park and pretty settings with a lake and lots of trees. After setting up we drove back toward BR to hit Costco and keep our stockholder reinvestment program going!

Leo and I got to take a weekend get-a-way without the kids and pets!  Our youngest spent the weekend with friends for his friend’s birthday and my two oldest had to work so they stayed home and took care of the dogs.  It was a gorgeous weekend to spend at the beach!
Tumblr media
On the way down to Galveston, we got stuck behind some large trucks and auto carriers.  I hate driving behind or next to these, always creeps me out.  I’m always afraid one of those cars will break loose and slide off the truck and cause a big accident.
We boon docked for the first time at the Angleton Walmart on our way there since we arrived at 2am. We are about 30 minutes away from our final destination but couldn’t check in until noon. We went inside and asked the manager if it was okay for us to catch some z’s in their parking lot.  He said that would be fine as long as we left at sun up.  We bought a few items we needed and to show our gratitude for letting us stay.  We parked on the outer edge of the parking lot so that we were not in anyone’s way.  Our generator worked great powering the AC so we could stay nice and cool Friday night.
Boondocking in the Walmart Parking lot in Angleton, Tx.
Got back out on the road, grabbed some breakfast, did some sight seeing and then checked in to our destination at the Galveston Island RV Resort.  We got camp set up and Leo turned on the TV, and appropriately, JAWS was on. LOL!
Jaws was appropriately on when Leo turned on the TV.
Galveston Island RV Resort was a very nice place to stay.  The bathrooms were private and very clean, friendly staff, it was quiet and just a hop, skip, and a jump to the beach, just had to cross the street and take a road between some houses to get there.   We will definitely revisit this place next time we come to Galveston.

6 Best Beginner-Friendly Surfing Spots
Guest Post By: Joe Laing
Looking for the perfect beach for a beginner level surfer? Start with the entries on our list.
Ever watch the surfers at the beach and wonder what it would be like to catch a tube and ride it all the way  in? Stop dreaming and get your feet wet! There are easy-to-reach beaches in the USA that cater to beginners. These spots have local surf shops offering lessons and gear, and gentle waves that won’t leave you feeling pounded.
Grab your sunscreen—one of these six scenic, beginner-friendly surfing spots is waiting to host your next vacation:
Sea Isle City, New Jersey is an East Coast haven for beginning surfers, with eight designated surfing beaches and an endless supply of gentle rollers. You’ll also find plenty of outfitters offering surfing lessons and equipment rentals, so consider enrolling in a three-day surf camp to learn the basics. It may look hectic by the size of the crowds, but this smart seaside city planned their beaches by activity, so visitors don’t collide.
How to get there: Sea Isle City is easy to get to and is just a couple of hours south along the shore from New York City (and only 30 minutes from Atlantic City International Airport).
See all rentals in Sea Isle City
Folly Beach, South Carolina, 15 minutes from Charleston, is so laid-back you’ll think you’re in southern California. You’ll find a half dozen breaks offering consistent waves that are best ridden on a longboard. Surf schools are abundant, but book your lessons before you visit, as space is limited. Vacationers to Folly Beach praise the soft sand and unspoiled beachscape.
How to get there: Charleston International Airport is a 30-minute drive away, and Atlanta is about four hours west of Folly Beach on I-26.
See all rentals in Folly Beach
La Jolla Shores, CA
Speaking of SoCal, La Jolla Shores beckons beginning surfers with predictable waves and a mile-long stretch of sandy beach. You’ll find parking close to the beach and friendly surf shops with instructors experienced in working with beginners. Visitors to La Jolla are close to all San Diego attractions, so plan an extended trip to this sun-washed coastal village.
How to get there: San Diego International Airport is less than 20 minutes from La Jolla Shores, or you can drive there from Anaheim in an hour and a half.
See all rentals in La Jolla
Sunset Point Beach, CA
Sunset Point Beach, at the northern end of Will Rogers State Beach in Pacific Palisades, California, is famous for long, smooth rollers that beginning longboard surfers will love. Surf shops in Pacific Palisades and nearby Santa Monica offer all the necessary start-up gear, so there’s no excuse for not making this your first California surfing experience.
How to get there: This Los Angeles area beach is easy to access with parking along Pacific Coast Highway. Pacific Palisades is 30 miles from Los Angeles International Airport, or if you’re driving in from the east, it’s about a four-hour drive straight west from Las Vegas on I-15.
See all rentals in Sunset Beach
Galveston Beach, TX
For our next beginner surf spot, we’re heading south to Galveston Beach, Texas. This popular beach is blessed with consistent, small waves, making it perfect for the new surfer. Galveston Island is the quintessential beach destination, with plenty to experience off the water, too.
How to get there: Galveston Island is a 45-minute drive from Houston Hobby Airport, or if you’re traveling from New Orleans to Galveston, it’s a five-hour drive on I-10.
See all rentals in Galveston
Cocoa Beach, FL
The final stop on our tour is Cocoa Beach, Florida. Not only will you find easy waves to conquer on a longboard, you can also take lessons from world-famous Ron Jon Surf School (Now that’s a T-shirt worth taking home!) There’s a classic Florida Space Coast feel here, so you’ll be sharing your days with fishers, kayakers, and beachcombers soaking up the sun.
How to get there: You’re about an hour away from Orlando International Airport at Cocoa Beach, or you can drive straight across the state two hours from St. Petersburg.
