Once again, RT went back to business as if nothing happened. Who cares if their fans hate the RT managment boogieman? As along as their cash cow is safe, then they don't have to fix jack shit. today i was like 'man, i haven't checked up on anything roosterteeth related in years, i wonder how they're doing?'

a burning building. a sinking ship. the plane is going down. oh my fucking god. it's not that i'm exactly shocked, but more surprised at how much this is destroying them, considering they had been openly like this for years, but then seemingly changed (well kinda, but not really, as some of the info revealed), and so i just thought that the community forgave them and moved on....

nah, turns out that the community could recover from RT being terrible employers (came out years ago), horrible fratboy culture (came out years ago), censoring of fans (has been occurring for years), racist (found out years ago), harbouring a predator (they weren't exactly aware, but facilitated a culture that normalised it), but transphobia was the straw that broke the camel's back lmao. the cherry on top is that they would call said former employee f*ggot as a nickname.....UNTIL he came out as a trans woman, then they stopped. they wrote the n word on a whiteboard for their black coworker to see, but the one thing they won't touch is trans lmao. all superficial, of course. they'd trot him out as their evidence of inclusivity, but then have him work so hard, for such little pay, that at one point he got pneumonia. it just shows the pure virtue signaling that all these progressive companies have. whatever the latest zeitgeist is, and currently it's trans and genders, that's what they lean into full force.

Totally fine if not and you just wanted to draw some cool art, but the whole metal virus arc was one of my favourites in the idw comics ^-^'

Anyway this got so long bc I like to ramble so read more it is

So, I guess the Sonic!Lads universe exist somewhat within the idw sonic canon, like the actual sonic characters do exist but are vaguely there, so restoration hq or whatever it was still exist, G.U.N. Exist somewhat, there’s the Babylonians, etc.

Anyway, This was probably a while after all the lads are friends, which is probably a very bad timing, considering the whole lore with Brian, but we'll get to it someday.

Basically at first the whole thing was like the idw, where everyone didn't notice at first, but when they did, it was far too late.

Kevin and RT are roommates, and since RT does have an extreme gear, they managed to bail out, taking some necessary equipment specifically to survive/camp, and jumps out of a fucking window kasjaskj (okay maybe a bit dramatic but the whole place outside are already swarming with zombots so what are they supposed to do)

Brian was at Daithi's place, doing some check ups to make sure his robot parts didn't act up again, before the garage doors started banging, and as they went to the window, they see that the outside was also swarming with Zombots. Daithi started to tell Brian to get anything he can get while he himself tries to take some tech he made that might be useful, before the doors broke and the zombots started coming. They managed to get away safely because of Daithi's bounce shoes (though he was almost caught) and Brian's rocket shoes.

Sean was working in his shift on the coffee shop, before he saw people running away, and before the windows at the shop broke because of the zombots. He wasn't home, and there was only a few things that can held them back, so He just ran away, trying to find somewhere safe, bringing anything he can.

ANYWAY, RT and Kevin managed to find a shelter that was created by the restoration HQ and stayed there for a while. Dan works with others to try and save other people by using his extreme gear, while Kevin helps inside the shelter as much as he can.

Brian and Daithi was camping from place to place before getting a notice that there was a restoration HQ ship near them. They tried to make a run for it while getting chased by the Zombots, before they got surrounded just close to the ship. They fought as hard as they can before Brian just, picks Daithi up and throws him into the ship, leaving him behind. There's a whole 'I'm not leaving you again!' scene or something, (like that one scene with Vector and Espio) where Daithi tries to get out and help, but was stopped by the other civillians inside, while he watched Brian getting consumed by the horde.

Sean manages to run into the shelter Dan and Kevin is in, and helps too, while getting a few supplies. He works both Inside and outside, sometimes becoming Intel for whatever is happening outside and helping Dan get out of tight situations.

Anyway, Daithi later also arrives, informing the Lads about Brian's situation. Sean decides to help, Dan too whenever he can, while Kevin still mostly stays inside, but going outside once or twice if the other lads aren't there to help Daithi.

Though things got worse. After one particular nasty situation, Dan eventually catches the virus when he was out with Sean, rescuing any alive civilians. Sean went to help him, but Dan just, told him to go, to go back to the HQ while with the consciousness he still had, Dan will try and stop any Zombots while Sean and the others escape.

We get back to Brian and he did got infected, his robot parts are trying to fight through the virus since it mostly affected his alive parts, so some of his consciousness is there. He tried his best to help others escape, but it is becoming hard as his own robot side starts to get corrupted.

Sean later also got infected while going through an abandoned city, trying to find any survivor, before eventually encountering a horde with some other people and tried to run for it, but he got pulled by the zombots as he was climbing a ladder to the roof, and eventually turned into a zombot.

I'll try to make this quick, but at the end the only lads who weren't infected are Kevin and Daithi. They did go through some tight stuff, almost getting infected here and there. At the end before every virus was taken away, the shelter was ambushed and they were trying to hold them back as best as they can, though after months and maybe year? I forgot how long the fucking arc was of fighting and surviving, they are getting very exhausted. But good timing since the whole end of the arc happened, and the virus vanished.

Later on both of them tried to find where the other lads were, though Dan did find his extreme gear again and managed to go to the shelter again, reuniting with Kevin and Daithi, Sean was later found in an abandoned building while Brian was inside another shelter with other people.

RWBY Novels provide an extreme character assassination for Coco, a character with already unfortunate allusions (being a reference to a nazi) that make her an outright creep.

Homophobic? LOL. LMAO. The only homophobes are the RT who took 5 volumes to confirm that gay people exist in the setting and who literally only confirmed a pairing after nine volumes just for the sake of merch without actual development or resolving the issues and set-up that existed since V3 and only did it because the show was on the risk of oblivion financially. The RT that cheerfully queerbaited for years (and admitted to it in V2 commentary) without intending to follow up on it and who very likely at first created Sun's team as "pairing material" (thankfully that idea got dropped after V2) out of fear that everyone kept shipping WLW pairings in V1 . And MLM pairings STILL don't exist beyond whatever the hell they had attempted (and terribly failed) with Clover.

The less is said about how completely cisgender and heteronormative the show has been for most of it's run the better - the completely het dance audience laughing at the a guy in a dress, one of the most effeminate characters in the show getting kicked in the nuts as the joke, the "we made qrow wear a skirt it was funny" joke, the absolute mess of a metaphor that Penny ends up being with focus on "making her a real girl" , not to mention how RT treat their own staff.

It's absolutely mind-boggling how RT delivers some of the most racist, homophobic and misogynist writing with a severe dose of ableism and transphobia on top and the stans just lap it up, developing a giant blind spot as far as the company goes.

It's absolutely fair to complain about Blake retcon which completely tore apart her backstory and reasoning and turned her activism into basically a teenager tantrum of a literal princess who lived in a castle in a tropical paradise. Her character makes ZERO sense and her parents end up looking extremely bad in hindsight (even worse than Ghira already comes off, what's with him being an extremely white misinterpretation of MLK - whoever made this BRILLIANT decision needs to never write again). Early volumes Blake, with the retcon in mind, comes off a s literal hypocrite now.

I spoke multiple times how Blake-Retcon ends up being some of the most offensive material in regards to how the show handles the very concept of racism. Instead of anything resembling logic they turned her into a Twitter poster, down to the tone-deaf speech about "burning and looting". And then racism and her own character narrative disappeared off the face of the earth for le cat joeks.

A proper Neo backstory would be needed in the show. A backstory that tells audience nothing new beyond that "oooh she's a sad rich girl" does absolutely nothing. It still does nothing FOR the show as, again, the character comes into relevance multiple volumes too late and ends up wasted in a filler padding volume. The character ended up being completely pointless.

What world building? The Goofy GMOD Dimension that literally broke the suspension of disbelief of the setting (even further)? The talking goofy creatures? The Two Gods Backstory that adds nothing to the setting and makes them even more generic and boring? Plopping down another god on top of existing two gods that already did not need to exist, continuing RT's tradition of overcomplicating the plot with redundant elements that break it? The whole volume hitting a big reset button on any sort of self-reflection or growth it could have provided by proclaiming the MCs are always right and shouldn't ever change or grow? Or the suicide tea and vilifying mental health?

I am sure there's good parts there because the dynamic between the duo is compelling enough to carry a story but...

Doing the thing that completely tore apart Blake's characterization to Neo, of all people, was peak galaxy brain move from whoever wrote it. Did she really need parent stuff or overtly complicated backstory beyond "She's an orphan"?

Let alone dedicating an entire book to a character that's already dead and a character that won't show up for volumes only to get written off in a filler volume.

But also if they WERE to make her a more elaborated backstory...if anything that backstory and who she is and what made her tick should have been part of the main show.

Alas her backstory and any reasons to actually care for her now live in the land of RWBY side material together with such great decisions like making RWBY's first lesbian character a sexual predator.

i literally had an r/rwby moderator in my twitter mentions asking if i thought they broke james mcavoy's legs for xmen — which is just grossly insensitive & not even accurate to the situation. this isn't actual actors portraying a disabled character; which is still criticized irl anyways. we want disabled characters played by disabled actors, that's part of the whole push for authenticity & opportunities for marginalized people who've been looked over & passed over for privileged actors instead.

rwbycritics has this really uncomfortable habit of times of playing too much into "anti sjw" mindsets as a pushback against the main rwby subreddit; but all that ends up doing is harming marginalized peoples anyway. we're used as props for both sides, either to attack rt or give them asspats & either way, our own agency & voice doesn't matter. it's depressing.

They probably feel like putting the effort to approach you might do more bad than good(?); they basically don’t wanna force the start of the relationship. They have this idea that if you two are meant to get a chance to sit down and greet each other, it has to happen comfortably. Btw, they would definitely be more than happy to do so. I feel like finally properly meeting you, is something that they would enjoy for sure. They just wanna be relaxed about it all, and not dwell in this situation too much.
