Now let me tell ya that I shed some tears at part 3-4. REAL TEARS. I had to read it twice because it was TOO GOOD.

So my question has been answered, SHE IS PREGNANT. I was skeptical with that theory but poisoning sounds too weird for it to prolong that long (😂). But i wasn’t sure. Pookie you are indeed the mastermind. I cried when Pocket broke down because let’s be real, if the thing between Bucky and Cunthage didn’t happened (Cunthage didn’t fucking exist), Pocket would actually care for the baby. She’s frustrated, she’s hurt, she’s disappointed, she’s at her lowest point.

When she woke up, finding Bucky there, it’s like she’s snapped into a defensive mode. She have/make this mindset where Bucky would hurt her (but in truth she’s the one who’s hurt because she YEARNS for him but is in denial — so by thinking that she’s hurt, she thinks that Bucky would hurt her… get it?😂). Also Bad Decision #28 wasn’t able to fuck Bucky out of her system. She wasn’t able to forget Bucky and he reappears? That’s one hell of emotion rollercoaster.

I love it when she told him that she’s not fucking with people to get back at him, she’s doing it to forget him. But rather than making her forget, it makes her misses him more, of the things that she lost. (Man, I bet Bucky was giggling inside because she couldn’t forget him — but ofc he’s disappointed with himself for putting her in that situation too… but… still, that doesn’t mean he cant)

We can clearly see there the love Pocket has for Bucky (man she love him so much). Salut Bucky for his patience. He’s calm and collected now, and not spouting shits like my girl, not being possessive. He control himself for Pocket. She needs him his hug — ‘just a little bit’ (you see that reference?😂) Again we’re seeing this in Pocket’s POV, but I guarantee you Bucky is this close 🤏🏻 in losing his sanity when he was called to the hospital.

One thing I like to highlight is the talk between Pocket thinking she’s not good enough for Bucky to share his issue, and Bucky not wanting to talk about it because he wants to impress Pocket by hiding his ugliness (the getting hard part) is so real. It’s easier to share something to people who is the same ‘bad’ as you but not someone who you want to impress. But the one you want to impress will interpret that he/she is not good enough/ trustworthy enough to know about your ugliness.

Btw i noticed that we focus more on the fact that Pocket really loves Bucky, but not the opposite. So now im going to say it, Bucky really love Pocket too in a way we cant see but feel. He’s trying. He’s proving. They’re similar yet different. Right now, he’s learning to understand her more (I AM NOT DEFENDING HIM😂) But as Pookie always said, both of them have their own flaws. It what made them, realistic. You can love someone so much, even when the trust is broken, but it can be mend. With time. With patience. With enough love and certainty. It all depends on you (the person who is in that situation) to prove it, to act it out (speaking from experience).

Our Bucky has returned stronger than before! He's still working on things, but he's already doing heaps better!

He's accepted the consequences-- he knows she has no business forgiving him, and he'll take it, which I felt was a really big step for him. He's no longer promising "I'll do whatever I can to fix it." It's now "I fucked up. I get there is no fixing it. I accept whatever you decide, and I'll live with your decision, because I respect you." NGL, parts 3 & 4 made me tear up, too. You are not alone.

I *really* tried to sell the 'Pocket was poisoned' lie because people clued into her being pregnant so quickly, lol. I tried to mislead you all! And no, if Cunthage hadn't happened, she'd be so fucking happy to be having his baby, let's be real. They'd be getting married and Tony would pretend to be so annoyed by it all, but secretly, he'd be over the moon to become an uncle and would throw her the most extravagant, lavish wedding the world's ever seen. And Pocket would fucking love that baby, because it was hers and Bucky's, and they'd be doing it together.

She's tried so hard to get over him, to forget about him, but despite everything he put her through, she just can't. She's kind of starting to realize now that maybe it's fruitless to try. So, finding out he's there, that she was pregnant, but suddenly she's not, all at once-- that's a lot. She shut down in the moment, and just got nasty because she didn't know what else to do.

You know, Bucky was actually not happy when she told him about not being able to forget him, no matter how many guys she's slept with. It hurt him to know how much he hurt her, that she felt that was something she needed to do to cleanse herself of him. He's remorseful. A tiny part of him might be hopeful-- if she can't get him out of her system, maybe there's a chance for them yet, but he isn't putting a lot of stock into that right now. He's just miserable that she's miserable.

When Bucky got that call from the SHIELD medical center, he damn near lost his shit. All he heard was that they found her in the safehouse, unconscious in a pool of blood. I don't even want to know what was going through his head. Something we don't see, because it's not a Bucky POV fic, lol, but he went to leave to be with her, but Steve tried to stop him from going, not thinking it was a good idea for him to just show up without warning Pocket, but Bucky was too scared and too worried about her being alone to listen, so while he's made some progress, there's still a tiny bit of selfishness there. Hey, he can't be fixed overnight, lol.

Bucky was so embarrassed about the erect-while-fighting thing. I mean, it was the last thing he wanted the girl he was in love with to know about him. Like, can you imagine that conversation? "So, yeah, doll, funny story-- every time I get really into a fight, where I want to fucking kill someone, I get a boner. Totally normal and not off-putting at all, right? lol" Like, it makes him look like Ted Bundy getting off on violence or something, if Bucky knew who Ted Bundy was (Side note: I like to imagine that Pocket, like me, is a True Crime freak and made Bucky consume every TC doc, podcast, movie, and book under the sun, lol).

(Off topic: Zefron as Bundy left me uncomfortable and confused, ngl)

Regardless, Bucky was ashamed and didn't want Pocket seeing that part of him. He didn't care if others did, because what they thought of him never mattered so much as what she thought of him. Also, I realized I had included him looking guilty after the sparring session and had to go back and come up with a reason why he might look guilty that didn't have anything to do with him actually having feelings for Cunthrage, lol.

It sucks to not have Bucky's POV happening (and that's something I'm rectifying in With Friends Like These...), because it's left so much of his motivations up to interpretation. I'm hopeful that everyone will see the subtle changes in him as we go forward. There will be more conversation between them in Chpt. 26, before shit hits the fan in 27, lol. 27 is off the rails, ngl.

It is safe to say that Pocket's spiral has been fully stopped. She's done hiding and running away. I mean, she kinda can't run away from Bucky anymore, cause he's right there now, but oh well, lol. She has to confront everything. And that includes Carthage, which I confess I had a lot of fun writing, because Pocket got to be a total bitch back to her. The showdown is coming!

I also miss sexy times between Pocket and Bucky, full disclosure :( That is why I have, no lie, at least eight different smut oneshot ideas planned for them after the story concludes. Idk, they are just so silly when they hook up, but also hot? Like, they have fun together, and I feel like it's never just sex, but always deeply connected time between two people who adore one another more than anything else on the planet.

Michigan's Adventure Trip Report 6/28/24

My long awaited trip report!!!! Day two of the three-day trip across Ohio, Michigan, and western Pennsylvania. This was a Friday. We got into the park at about 1:30 PM and stayed until about 7:00 PM.

Coaster Rankings and Thoughts

1) Shivering Timbers (x 10 rides, including some light rain rides)

Shivering Timbers, love of my life. I love this ride so much I could legitimately cry. It's already been said by ElToroRyan and friends, but I'll say it again. I know the Voyage was advertised as having the most airtime on any coaster prior to Steel Vengeance's existence, but I think that's complete BS. I love Voyage beyond words, but there is no WAY it has more airtime than this absolute airtime machine. The Voyage has a lot of quick airtime pops, but every single hill on Shivering Timbers delivers fairly strong, sustained negative Gs. The huge outward hills give incredible, sustained floater. The wooden roughness and the way the train kind of bounces as it goes over those huge hills just adds to the duration and intensity of the airtime. The valleys are crazy intense too, between the wooden feel, the way you get slammed back down into the seat after the airtime, and the decently strong positives. The turnaround gives strong laterals, and the drop off the turnaround is one of my favorite moments of the ride, as there is an unbanked left turn into the drop that gives laterals and a great airtime pop at the same time. The return run continues with hill after hill, most of which are smaller hills, giving quicker airtime pops. One of those smaller hills before the camera gives one of the strongest airtime moments on the ride. Then you get hit with some of the strongest, most sustained laterals on any coaster in the world, as you are pinned to the side of the train for several seconds on the awesome, 630 degree helix finale. It can be bumpy as hell, especially in a wheel seat. But it's not an intolerable roughness, just one that gives the ride a ridiculous, out-of-control feel that puts it over the top. I got a few rides with some light rain coming down, and that was truly incredible. I never wanted to stop riding. This ride is severely underrated, and that may just be because it's under-ridden, being so far out of the way of other parks. Please believe me, it is worth the trip, no matter where you are. But if you are already at Cedar Point, that 4.5-hour drive is a no-brainer.

2) Thunderhawk (x 2 rides)

This is my 148th coaster and maybe my 26th? park, and yet this is my first Vekoma SLC. I've heard the moaning and complaining about how bad SLCs are, so I went into this with low expectations, but to be perfectly honest, I thought it was pretty great. It's a super forceful ride. The drop and the crazy first inversion are the best parts of the ride. It's a very forceful and disorienting sequence, and I grayed out there on both my rides. But all the inversions are whippy and intense. I rode in the front and in row 7, and I didn't really get any headbanging in either place. I could see how you might bang your head on the corkscrews at the end if you don't brace properly, but I was able to avoid it.

3) Wolverine Wildcat (x 1 ride)

This ride is in a weird state right now, with three different types of track going on. The first drop with the GCI titan track is obviously smooth but ruins the wood coaster feel. The brief Gravity Group retracked wood section after the first turnaround is great, with a few solid airtime pops. But after that, the ride turns back into a standard Dinn with a little roughness and barely any forces to speak of. I wish they would do the full Gravity Group retrack, because this ride does have potential.

4) Corkscrew (x 1 ride)

This a fun, classic ride. I've come to really enjoy the drops on these old Arrows, and this is no exception, as it gives good air in the back row. I also found it to be a pretty smooth ride through the corkscrews. My only complaint is that it's extremely short.

5) Mad Mouse (x 1 ride)

I was pretty excited for this ride, and it didn't quite live up to my expectations. The laterals are not as strong as they are on the better Mack mice (i.e. Hersheypark Wild Mouse), but there is some sharp ejector on the hills at the end. It's a fun ride. Capacity is a nightmare though, as we waited 35-40 minutes for it on a pretty slow day.

6) Zach's Zoomer (x 1 ride)

This is a CCI!! I love to see it!!! This ride is very fun and kind of wild for a family ride. The single-position bar lets you slide around in the seat with the laterals if you are sitting alone.

Trip Details

We left Cedar Point around 10:00 PM on 6/27 and drove for an hour and a half to a hotel in Holland, OH, then made the remaining three hours and fifteen minutes of the drive to Muskegon the next morning/afternoon on 6/28. We got to Michigan's Adventure around 1:30 PM. Let me tell you, just driving up and seeing Shivering Timbers stretching along the majority of the parking lot is an experience in itself. I was freaking tf out. We got into the park, and went straight to Shivering Timbers for three rides, waiting less than 5-10 minutes for each ride. We then waited about 30 minutes to get one ride on Wolverine Wildcat. I would have liked to ride it again, but they were just running one train, so I couldn't waste the time. We went back to Shivering Timbers for another ride. Then we waited an obscene 40 minutes to get on Mad Mouse, despite there being barely anyone in the park. We got pretzels at Auntie Anne's, then got on Zach's Zoomer pretty quickly for one ride. We walked right into Corkscrew next for one ride. Then we made the trek to the back of the park for Thunderhawk, which was down when we got to it. It was testing, and it was the last credit we needed to get, so we decided to just wait. It opened after about 20 minutes, and we walked right on for two rides. I spent the rest of the day marathoning Shivering Timbers as much as I could before we had to leave. The line got a bit longer later in the day, but I was still able to get six more rides in. I got a ride photo and a shirt, and we headed out around 7:00 PM. I also spent about 20 minutes in the parking lot taking pictures of Shivering Timbers with my camera, because it's just so beautiful. There were lots of seagulls in the parking lot there. After this, we drove three and a half hours back to Toledo to stay in a hotel for the night.

And because people hate on this park way too much, I just wanted to say that I thought it was a nice, charming little park. It's not an ugly blacktop park like SFOG, etc. It's got a pretty lake in the middle, which you can see from several of the rides. And I personally think every coaster there is good. It could definitely use a few more standouts, but it's a solid, serviceable lineup.

I in fact did do my knitting while watching a movie situation! I know this is incredible popular in knitting circles, but I'm not too much of a movie watcher most of the time. I want to get more into watching movies instead of scrolling on YT shorts because my screen time Is Not It.

I got all twenty rows in (which is my minimum daily amount for the next week) and that comes to ~5cm. The next "milestone" for the sleeves (ie the part before the increase) is 10 cm, which makes this project feel a lot more doable. For context the end sleeve length (before the cap) is 43 cm, which is 3-4 days worth of knitting for me.

I watched A Quiet Place: Day One yesterday and let me tell you I have THOUGHTS. Wonderful movie that I'd recommend, a solid 8/10. Spoilers below the cut!

A Quiet Place: Day One Thoughts

In order to make this vaguely understandable, I'm going to bullet point these rambles

Direct Movie Response

28:40 and 1:01:30 are both absolutely killer shots

I love that more movies are moving away from MCU franchise and are turning towards "here's a cool concept, lets do it in a different way" (looking at you knives out)

I love the different forms of community in this movie!!

Sam was consistently a form of community to others while others formed community with her! her nurse looked so happy to know she was alive and constantly went out of his way to protect her. The black family helped with nursing Sam the first time she passed out. Someone in that first camp rescued same cat. Sam showed kindness to the children hiding under the waterfall. and of course Eric, someone with (im going to assume) some level of anxiety. There were several times where he actively Brought Sam's life in danger! but she still kept him around

And in turn, Eric showed kindness by going out of his way to get Sam's medication and save her cat

Continuing community is the scene were all the New Yorker's were pouring out in droves to the boats, which resulted in massacre. I had a feeling, because that many people is never a good sign, but what I want to emphasize was the protection of disabled people, particularly the man in the wheelchair. Many of these people wouldn’t makeup a top survival team in an apocalypse, but we need to keep them around because they jive us hope (which ill get back to)

And if we’re going to mention community in this movie, I obvi have to highlight Eric's willingness to go with Sam to patsy’s and learn more about her. Their meeting was the pinnacle of community building. He was scared and lost and needed connection, so he clung onto the first person who was able to provide that

And he goes above and beyond! He brings light into Sam's world when patsy’s is burnt down by preforming their silent magic show, which was such a beautiful scene (and not to mention finding pizza for her, which has my whole heart)

In relation to movie lore, I was interested to see the weird things the monsters were eating and I'm wondering if it’ll come back later. I also appreciate this film address the criticism people had to the water situation; the monsters are scared of it! It kills them so very quickly that it makes sense why they’d avoid the sound

The final thing to say is that there are some thing about this movie that don’t 100% make sense. Like how the fuck did the cat survive all this time? No idea! Cats aren’t inherently quiet creatures, and there were MANY times where he could have (or logically should have) died and he just. Didn’t

Connection to Other Things

Trauma and Noise: Another point id like to mention is trauma and its connection to sound. When we as humans are upset, we sob, we yell, we cry, we stamp up and down, we slam doors, we make noise. it almost feels as chaotic as how our brains feel, a way to physically embody the pain we feel. So to remove the ability to make noise is so painful. People are dealing with constant loss and pain but they have to stay quiet in order to survive. I would loose my mind

Palestine: When it came to the original crashing of meteorites (or whatever they were, which ill return to), all I could think of was the people of Palestine, along with all the other people of the world that are being bombed. It is evil that this genocide is continuing. Generally speaking, I’ve tried to keep Tumblr as a mental break while my other forms of social media cover Palestinian activism, but I would be remiss to not mention it. Not to mention the dystopia ass world we live in where the president of a nation committing genocide gets a standing ovation from Americas leaders??? It makes me want to burn the world down

Leaving Behind: Actual final point is the boat scene. There are 8 million people living in New York with around 1.6 million being from the city (yes I googled) and all that's really left are the people on the boat. What also gets me is that many of those people may not be native New Yorkers. Many people commute to New York or fly in for vacation. Not to mention how many people died as a side effect of buildings crashing and train cars being blocked and young or old people being left behind, etc etc. It is quite a sad thing to see

Run The Jewels Live Show Review: 9/28, The Salt Shed, Chicago

Run The Jewels (El-P & Killer Mike)

Over the past several years, Run The Jewels albums have seemed primed for the time they came out. Run The Jewels 3 was released digitally in between the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election and Donald Trump's subsequent inauguration, El-P and Killer Mike's penchant for grand political statements and even cheeky conspiracy theories nestled alongside their statements of self-triumph. RTJ4 was released in 2020, two days earlier than planned in response to the murder of George Floyd and subsequent protests of police brutality and institutional racism all over the world. Songs like "Just", featuring the unforgettable line, "Look at all these slavemasters posin' on yo' dollar," were both timely and ever-relevant. Reflecting, though, it's always been Run The Jewels 2 that's the duo's crowning achievement, where it felt like the potential of the collaboration reached its full potential. In 2012, El-P lent his dystopian production to Mike's southern fried R.A.P. Music, Mike a verse to Cancer 4 Cure standout "Tougher Colder Killer". 2013 saw the two realize the group for the first time with a self-titled album, which at the time was a welcome surprise and perhaps a victory lap. Turns out, it was just a warm-up.

Run The Jewels (Killer Mike & El-P)

That is, Run the Jewels 2 showcased everything you love about hip hop: MCs with distinct, but complementary flows and styles, unique production, and social awareness combined with a firecracker sense of humor, the potential to burn it all down, and unmistakably horny braggadocio. It was my obvious choice when deciding which of four nights to see RTJ perform an album in full, also knowing they'd cherry pick highlights from their back catalog in a second set. On stage at The Salt Shed last Thursday, Mike and El sounded as clear as ever without losing their bruising momentum, shouting words to a crowd who replied back every single one. (The two joked that playing this album in full was a bad idea, considering the amount of mushrooms they consumed when making it, fearing they wouldn't be able to remember their lines.) Trackstar the DJ rattled the stereo-busting bass of "Oh My Darling Don't Cry" and "Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)" as the crowd jumped up and down and moshed. Mike likened himself to William "Refrigerator" Perry during "Blockbuster Night Part 1", successfully pandering to those members of the crowd who were fans of the Chicago Bears, aka didn't travel from all over the Midwest to see the show.

Killer Mike

Though the first four RTJ2 songs are all-timers, it was the back half that shone brightest. Before RTJ performed nihilist anthem "Lie, Cheat, Steal", El-P remarked, based on the younger age of the crowd, that they'd have "a front row seat to the apocalypse," which put into perspective for a lot of us why we gravitated towards their magnum opus in the first place. When it came out 9 years ago, it foreshadowed the shit that would truly hit the fan a couple years later, providing a worthwhile soundtrack to said gradually looming apocalypse, all without being self-serious. The magic of the record is that a song like "Early", which Mike introduced by dedicating it to anybody who has been terrorized by the police and declaring that "the state should fear the people" as opposed to the other way around, is immediately followed by, in the duo's words, "two of the most ignorant songs we've ever written." By "ignorant," they really meant sexually charged tunes that provide necessary moments of levity. Specifically, when performing "Love Again (Akinyele Back)", the duo let the raunchy verse from the late, great Gangsta Boo, play uninterrupted, cementing her as the most important spirit in the room at that moment.

Mr. Len

It's no secret that Run the Jewels in general have a diverse fanbase. Folks I spoke with in the crowd ranged from hardcore kids to hip-hop heads, as expected from the type of group that has Pharrell Williams rub elbows with Zach De La Rocha. For the old school fans, an unexpected gift was in store: an opening DJ set from Mr. Len of Company Flow, the hip hop trio where El-P cut his teeth before going solo. (According to El, Bigg Jus was also in the house, though he never came out on stage.) Mr. Len treated us to tracks from Company Flow, El-P produced tunes from Cannibal Ox, and classics from Goodie Mob, Gang Starr, and A Tribe Called Quest. Though it was a callback to a bygone era, I couldn't help but think how Run the Jewels--along with the Backwoodz Studioz and Griselda crew--are this generation's possible forebears to whatever comes next, whether that's 20 years of RTJ or something else.

Here’s what fit into just 28 days:

New Beginnings and Creative Energy

This cycle kicked off with a long but totally worth-it trip to Salzburg. It wasn’t spontaneous – it was carefully planned, and I was excited to hold my master’s seminar presentation. It was also a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with my classmates, sharing experiences and perspectives that reminded me why I chose this path in the first place.

The following days were packed with four early shifts in a row. I threw myself into work, helping wherever I could and even stepping into the role of a content creator, filming for our team. It was a new experience, and honestly, I kind of loved it. In between, I tried to keep up with the Handball World Cup, though the early mornings made it hard to watch every match.

Life was all about balancing: work, sushi meetings, and squeezing in some workouts – because why not check all the boxes at once? One of the highlights was picking up a friend from work, going for long walks, and just recharging. Those moments helped me find calm in the chaos, especially after hours of writing my seminar paper. I’m proud to say I successfully submitted it – hell yes!

High Energy and Connection

With the shift to late shifts, I found myself getting picked up afterward. It’s funny how small things mean so much, but getting picked up in the dark is truly my love language – it makes me feel safe and cared for.

Amidst all this, I was also side hustling at my minijob, where I learned a lot about rhetoric and communication. It never ceases to amaze me how much there is to learn when you pay attention. At the same time, I was getting used to my new braces (yay me!). The first day was tough – getting braces and then working an 8-hour shift wasn’t the smartest idea. Eating was suddenly a challenge, and let’s just say snacking is off the table for a while. Hello, unplanned diet.

I was on a workout streak – either 0 times a week or 4 times, no in-between. I also found myself cheering on my friends at their handball games, feeling the team spirit and loving the energy. It was inspiring to see their dedication and passion, which made me reflect on my own journey.

Volunteering continued to bring so much laughter and joy into my life. It’s hard to explain the fulfillment that comes from giving back, but it’s real. And sometimes, it comes with perks – like lasagna as a reward or sweet tea gifts from the people I get to work with.

Reflection and Grounding

I spent hours listening to audiobooks on my way to sales training, grateful for my usual short commute to the gym. Evening walks became my therapy, a way to clear my mind and make sense of the chaos. This phase was all about embracing the writing process for my seminar paper – even when frustration levels were high. I had to remind myself to find joy in the process, not just the outcome.

I made a big decision: taking a break from playing handball. I’m calling it a “creative pause” because that sounds better than quitting. Who knows how long this break will last, but right now, it feels like the right thing to do.

Then came the urge to organize my life. I went through my phone contacts – 421 reduced to 108. It was oddly freeing, like letting go of old chapters to make space for new ones. I also got a new mobile contract, which felt like a major adulting win. Inspired by this wave of responsibility, I decided to quit my minijob to make more time for myself and my master’s thesis. It was a bold move, but I realized I needed the space to focus on my priorities. Also the idea and later on the decision that I will sell my motor bicycle - because I barely use it and I won´t drive it unless I could tell people I drove so they will think I am badass - so also here no more external validation.

Somewhere along the way, I felt the urge to get bunnies – because something fluffy and cute would be nice. But then my friend brought me back to reality with a hilarious reminder: “Yeah, mold is fluffy too, but no, I still don’t want mold as a pet.” Point taken.

The biggest realization of this cycle was that my worth isn’t determined by others. I don’t need to prove myself to anyone. No license or achievement will change who I am at my core. It hit me that so often, we seek acknowledgment from others, chasing validation like it’s the key to happiness. But maybe, just maybe, we should learn to acknowledge ourselves first – by simply deciding we are enough.

Rest and Reset

This cycle ended with three days of pure rest. I just lay in bed, watching snow fall outside. It felt like winter finally showed up, and honestly, it was the perfect excuse to slow down. I also tackled the mountain of clothes on my chair – the one that had been silently judging me for weeks. Cleaning my space felt like cleaning my mind, making room for new beginnings.

Crazy to Think This All Happened in Just 28 Days

Living in cycles feels more natural than fitting life into calendar months. Each phase has its own rhythm, its own lessons. I’m learning to honor these rhythms, to flow with them instead of fighting against them.

Here’s to living, loving, and growing in cycles. Let’s embrace the flow. 💫

Conlang Year Biweekly Update - II

And actually on schedule this time!

Days 17 and 18 - Solidifying Syllable Structures (alliteration!!!)

For Day 17 I came up with 22 nonce words between 1 and 4 syllables to test syllable structures:

Monosyllabic: a; at; kep; ɓak; tua; kiu; siat; ian; aur; srul; dli; kiat

Disyllabic: sibil; biziaz; ɗalaɗ; guaguak; ɗiikik; nuunua

Trisyllabic: azgiaɗaa; iauaii; ugaadii

Tetrasyllabic: ziiziigurun (the source of the name for the temple complex found in this story)

After I did that, I solidified my syllable structure as the following:

(C)(RV/V/VV)(C) max syllables, which means that a word can start with any consonant, the nucleus can consist of one vowel, a resonant and vowel, or two vowels.

One caveat to this is that an implosive cannot occur in a CRV scenario (or moreso if it does occur it will undergo a sound change to turn it into a non-implosive voiced stop)

And as for stress, it always occurs on the final syllable of a word.

Days 19-25 - Basic Terminology

These seven days were dedicated to forming roots, so I generated roots for many common objects brought to and found on the Atlantean continent.

The five body parts I came up with words for were the hands (miinikui); the feet (aakiin); the eyes (zaaɗuguan); the chest (nuuguu); and the face (piigii). Represented on this lovely diagram i made:

Dogs - uuzikau

Birds - baardutaɓi

Cats - miiriaau

Days 26-28 - Sound Change Exploration

I already have a rudimentary idea of how I want the language to evolve. In terms of Assimilatory SCs, plosives will assimilate in voice and place with other plosives as in iaktul -> iattul, zidtaaba -> zittaaba, and uɗduun -> udduun. There's also a Grimm's law style cascade where implosives become voiced plosives become unvoiced plosives become fricatives, with s and z turning into affricates depending on palatalization. Exact specifics will be worked out later but my general plan is as follows:

As for other sound changes, I have plans to have diphthongs undergo a reanalyzation to liquid and vowel sequences. More will be determined over the next few weeks, and in the meantime, stay tuned!

Listen. By now we all know how much I love this one. I just wanted an excuse to read it again before the movie came out. Five stars before, five stars now, five stars always.

The Bookshop of Second Chances by Jackie Fraser 

⭐⭐⭐(¾) 

This was adorable! It took a few chapters to ramp up, and I almost didn’t keep going, but I’m so glad I did. I love books about books, so this caught my eye … I think at the dollar store? It’s a gentle, cute read, some perfect escapism for unbearably hot summer days. Once the story picked up, I got to sit back and enjoy friends-to-crushes-to-lovers, with a hearty side of women’s lit as the MC reinvents herself post-divorce. Very cute, but I don’t know that it’s something I would pick up and read again.

Bear With Me Now by Katie Shepard 

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 

I LOVED this one, and I'm already excited to reread it again later. I bought a copy at my local indie back on Indie Bookstore Day, but only just now got around to reading it. I laughed, I cried, I got some strange looks from my coworkers for the laughing and the crying. Right out of the gate, when Teagan gets tricked into rehab (he’s not an addict), I was invested in the relationship between him and his sister. Then he meets a bear, then he meets Darcy and we’re off to the races. They’ve got their traumas, they’ve got their walls, and they’re figuring them out together. There’s something about a love story where nobody needs to be “fixed” to be loved that just hits so perfectly for me, and this absolutely fit the bill.

Summer Reading by Jenn McKinlay 

⭐⭐⭐⭐(¼) 

Again, books about books. Also, books about robotics (tangentially. Anyone looking for books about CIMs and RIOs and such will not find that here. But the MC’s younger brother is into robotics, so I was interested). The first thing I noticed about this book was right there in the forward: it’s designed to be dyslexia-friendly. The author worked with her publisher to use a font that’s harder to flip around, wider leading and bold type instead of italics. The bold text took some getting used to, but I love that McKinlay took such care in putting her story out there. The MC is dyslexic, which made this the perfect story for this sort of accessibility. It touches on mental illness, family drama, friendships, sibling relationships and everything in between. Also, the MC is a chef, which makes this a book about books, robotics AND food. All in all, an excellent book presented in an excellent way.

Chef’s Kiss by TJ Alexander 

⭐⭐⭐(½) 

I grabbed this from the library based on the vibes of the cover alone (it’s a great cover, honestly. I know how the adage goes, but the fact of the matter is that covers sell stories). What I got was rivals(?) to lovers, workplace stress, and a well-handled discussion of sexuality and gender. The book handled the complex nuances of those conversations with grace and class, but the rest of the plot fell flat in places. There were places I was ready to reach through the pages and shake the MC silly for staying with her terrible workplace, or refusing to have one (1) conversation about her feelings. Solid romance, but it’s hard to stay invested in that plot when I’m so frustrated with one of the characters invovled.

Dog Days: A Year in the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile by Dave Ihlenfeld 

⭐⭐⭐⭐ 

My non-fic selection for the month, this one has been on my shelf for ages. I love a good memoir, and this was unlike anything I’ve read before. There was a startling about of parallel between the author and myself – J-school graduates who didn’t want a future in journalism – except he went on to spend a year driving an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile across America. I LOVE a good tourist gimmick ((thanks to this book, I’ve looked to see if the renamed Frankmobile is going to be anywhere near me)), so this was a perfect fit for me. Ihlenfeld wove his personal story together with the history of Oscar Mayer and the Wienermobile, which left me with a better understanding of how and why it worked as a marketing schtick, and how taking unexpected opportunities can change peoples’ lives.

So I'm going to be real honest here, I was working on this loads today. I made a big and I mean BIG draft, like a detailed long collection of shit they pulled and explaining each thing but the further I went the more uncomfortable I got. Like, gathering everything together in one single post. But I definitely want to discuss these things, perhaps I'll divide the things I wrote into seperate posts at some point, but for now I just wanna ask you instead to be more specific which theories to explain? I'd be very happy to go into detail about individual ones, and I might have a lot of shit ready in my drafts because of it now lol.

Anyway, I copied most of it to another draft but left some, have some very loud recent-ish larrying bits:

July/September 2020 - during lockdown eleanor posts this one pic of louis to her instagram stories, and puts it in her highlights (it’s still there in the uh dogs folder), this is like one of the very few Louis-with-eleanor moments of the past... years? But then about 2 months later Harry "makes it his" in a way when he takes a picture with a fan wearing the same shirt... And it’s a vintage shirt, and Harry doesn’t wear Umbro (Louis often does). Sooo that’s the same damn shirt. Here a good tag about it.

Dec 12 2020 - this idiot wears a MASSIVE MASSIVE H during his liveshow. We barely see him and the one, the one show he does he shows up like this:

Really could have worn anything, chooses a plain black shirt with a ridiculous H on it. He really must love Hotels. The fact that Harry often goes by H, signs of his tweets with it and all just makes it 10x worse lol.

Jan 4/5 2021 (same day holivia happened) people who bought Harry's merch (that wasn't advertised to have bluegreen hearts on them) started receiving them, once opened it turned out they were literally the most vile bluegreening mess...

Jan 31 2021 - I went into deep detail about the spotify backgrounds but ill just link this here instead, basically Louis put Harry's tattoos on his spotify on during his Walls anniversary and Harry's birthday. He also tweeted a song "Maybe Tomorrow"

considering it was H's birthday the next day and it wasn’t even an answer to the question it looks like he really really just wanted to post that song that day and took whatever thing that came closest to a relevant question to answer this to. To make things worse, the song is about maybe tomorrow finding your way home and includes rainbows.

Sam Kerr interview: 'I'm a risk-taker, my life is lived on the edge - I either go big or go home'

Chelsea striker's outrageous swivelling volley secured the WSL title for her side - now she has her sights sets on retaining the FA Cup

In front of goal her decisions are instinctive and she describes herself as a "risk-taker", but when it comes to making big life choices, the WSL’s Golden Boot winner Sam Kerr takes her time. Two years, in fact, is how long it took her to mull over joining Chelsea.

The Australia superstar has revealed she came close to signing for the London club a season earlier than she eventually did, after being courted by manager Emma Hayes for two seasons.

Three consecutive WSL titles later, it is safe to say she feels she made the right decision in the end.

"Now that I'm here I can't imagine playing for any other club in the league, or Europe for that matter. I suit playing for Chelsea. I love the club, it's definitely the best club I've ever been part of," the 28-year-old proudly declares.

"I spoke to Emma [Hayes] two years before I chose to come here and the year before I signed I was close, but then I chickened out a little bit. I thought ‘I’ve got one more year’. The communication with Emma was long and I feel like we did it in the right way when it was both right for us. We both made the right decision.

"She gets the best out of me and we have a really open and honest relationship. When I was just meeting her over the phone it was a little bit more serious; She was trying to impress me and I was trying to impress her. Once I got to actually meet her the relationship relaxed a little bit. Now we take the p--- out of each other all the time. It’s chill now.

"I’m not someone that likes to beat around the bush. She just tells me how it is and I tell her how it is and I think that we just have this mutual respect. I'm just a straight-to-the-point person. That works for her because she can just tell me exactly what she wants from me. When you have such high respect, working towards the same goals, it just works."

It would appear to be a match made in heaven so far, after Kerr topped the WSL’s scoring charts for the second season in a row with 20 goals in 20 WSL games.

The last of those 20 strikes defied belief, as she swivelled in the air to volley Chelsea 4-2 ahead against Manchester United on Sunday's final day with what she says is one of the best goals she has ever scored.

"That's just who I am, I do that stuff in training all the time. Sometimes the girls get annoyed at me and sometimes it looks good, but it's just who I am. I'm a risk-taker. I just do what I feel, whether it's right or wrong, and I'm very strong-willed, very stubborn," said Kerr, who became Australia's all-time leading scorer earlier this year.

"There was no doubt in my mind that I was just hitting that ball once it came off my chest and I think that's what I mean when I say I'm a risk-taker. My whole life is lived on the edge, I either go big or go home.

"The commentator made it even better because the way she said 'it's so Sam Kerr' - I just laughed because I thought 'that is so me' because I don't know if any other player would try that. The moment was sick. And just the importance of the goal that made it even better."

Kerr is the newly-crowned Football Writers' Player of the Year and many are tipping her to claim a clean sweep of this season's individual honours. Part of her form is down to her feeling "settled" in London, but also the WSL is helping her improve.

After all, Hayes’ persuasion wasn’t the only reason that Kerr - who remains the American NWSL’s all-time top scorer - moved to England, and she feels the WSL has made her a "smarter" player.

"[Being closely marked] is one of the reasons why I came to this league, because I wanted to expand my gameplay. This league made me transform into a different type of player, a smarter player. I love the challenge.

"But if they're double-marking me or man-marking me then there's someone else free. That's the amazing thing about this team. If I'm having a bad game normally someone else is having a worldie, so we share the load pretty well. We're on a bit of a roll at the moment."

Their hot streak has seen Chelsea notch up 11 straight wins in all competitions ahead of Sunday's Women's FA Cup final at Wembley, for which more than 50,000 tickets have been sold. But opponents Manchester City - who inflicted Chelsea's most recent defeat, in March's League Cup final - are themselves on an even longer 13-game winning run.

"We have a lot of respect for City, they're a great team," said Kerr, who scored twice in the victory over Arsenal in last season's delayed FA Cup final, a day she describes as "one of the best experiences of my life".

Kerr's mum, dad, brother and two friends have travelled across the world to see her play under the arch this weekend, along with more members of her family from the UK. The final will see both teams trying to lift the cup for the fourth time in their respective histories, but Chelsea do so with their tails up after defending their league title.

"We have probably the best mentality in the league," Kerr added. "We were chasing this whole year and then once we got ahead no one was going to get it off us. We went down to 10 players [against Tottenham] and I kid you not, in that changing room it was just calmness, no one was stressed. We all knew it was going to be fine."

Manchester City will do everything they can to stop the holders celebrating again come Sunday night, but with Kerr on the field, expect flair, expect confidence, and expect goals.

14 Feb 2017 – JM Twitter post –  the boys with matching jackets.  I know. I said not Twitter, but sometimes rules are made to be broken.

17 Feb 2017 – Hobi’s birthday.  JM to JK: “stop coming to our room at night.” There’s something about JM throwing JK under the bus time after time.  It’s like he enjoys to see JK squirm.

22 Feb 2017 – Gaon Chart K-pop chart – JK ushering Hobi to another seat, so that JK can sit behind JM.  JM turning around see this, rolls his eyes and smirks.

25 Feb 2017 MBC music core comeback – JK moving Hobi aside, so that JK can stand behind JM.  JK being JM’s number 1 fanboy.

26 Feb 2017 – Wings – you never walk alone fan sign.  Really JM? What was that neck grab and what exactly were you doing there????  No, I don’t believe he kissed JK’s neck, but it sure was ‘out there’, so much so that Jin was in total shock when it happened.  JK was surprised by it, and I think that even JM was shocked by his own actions waling aimlessly in what seems like the wrong direction .

28 Feb 2017 Run BTS episode 12. This one for me was cringe worthy, at some points I felt like an actual intruder.  JK the detective and JM the prisoner.  JK whacking JM on the behind (remember JK is the younger – how bold).  JM’s private dance for JK.  I know the episode was mostly scripted, but I seriously think JM was surprised by that smack to his behind.  Also, the way JK was looking at JM when he was dancing all heart hands for him.

12 March 2017 - Wings tour Santiago Chile

Santiago day 2 – JK suffers from exhaustion.  As he is taken back stage to a treatment room, JM is the one to race after the team into the room.

JM is in the treatment room when the cameras come in.  He is standing there, and later, as the other members are walking in, JM is by JK’s side, helping the medical team lift up one of his legs.

The rest of the members come in together to see how JK is doing, and when the medical team suggest to take off JK’s pants, all the members leave the room.  All except for JM, who stays there with JK the whole time.

JM leaves the room only together with JK, after he feels better and is able to walk out of the room on his own two feet.

Wouldn’t you expect RM, being the leader and all, to be the one by JK’s side? Or J-Hope maybe?  Wouldn’t that have made more sense under the circumstances? Why JM?  

Because, clearly JM is the one JK feels closest to, the one he can be himself with freely, the one he doesn’t feel embarrassed or needs privacy from.

JM may not have been a family member, but he was the closest thing to it.  JM to JK is and was his home, his safe place, and most certainly the one to be by his side when he was in distress.

April 2017 3rd Muster dvd – the muster was at end of 2016, but dvd was released in 2017. During photo shoots they are being posed by the photographers.  Yes, there will be authentic moments between them, but sometimes it’s hard to tell what’s real and what’s being directed.  That’s why I don’t always like to add these to my timeline.   Even so, they were so cute, so I couldn’t leave this one out.

3rd April 2017 – BTS Front row live entertainment interview – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UotjcB_X4ag . What happened there?  

This one intrigues me. I watched and re-watched the full interview several times, and for the life of me I can’t see what happened there between JM and Hobi that triggered JK’s reaction?  JM’s placating look at JK, like telling him nothing happened… this one is used a lot to create the JK jealous narrative, and to be honest, I really don’t know what happened there. When JK turns back, JM looks into the camera with an uneasy gaze.

After that, most of the time, JM looks lost in his thoughts, not happy.  Towards the end they are asked what artist they would want to collaborate with, and Suga’s answer makes them all burst out in laughter, all accept for JM.  When he is asked and answers, you also see he is unhappy.  You can easily see something is bothering him.  JM just wasn’t his happy own self.  He looked pensive.  BTS did several interviews and had a concert that day, so maybe he was just tired or wound up, but he just wasn’t acting like himself.

Highlights of the highlights: The but checking and identifying (are we taking skinship to another level, are we??).

JK and JM on same team – the joy… Spending the day together and just being happy. 

 Did JK really lose the game on purpose so he can be in the room with JM? 

The amount of times we hear Jimin-ssi in every kind of cute and flirty way JK can say it…

JK’s intense stare at JM, when JM joined the others in with the others when they were laughing at JK eating everyone’s food but not ordering any for himself, which causes JM to immediately stop laughing.  

Poor JK being blindsided when it was pointed out that the only one he bought a birthday present for last year was JM.  Oops. (why oh why JM did you throw him under the bus like that??? You were curious? Really???? JM keeps doing this) Poor boy was so embarrassed.  Hobi was the one to actually save him, stating how generous JK has become lately giving away his things that he didn’t need. JK never answered the question. 

27 June 2017 BV2 special commentary live – JK getting all flustered when asked to explain the difference between BV1 and BV2.  JM looking at him, enjoying every second.

4 August 2017 - KBS Music Bank Singapore.  JK not loving on Taemin.  The way he turns around the minute JM and Taemin interact, and the discontent look on his face…cold.  He’s not a happy camper.  He glancing in the direction a couple of times, but he is mostly turned away from them.   And when JM runs up to slap Taemin in the butt, JK sees this, averts his head, and just keeps walking off the stage.  He is clearly upset. Besides the obvious faces he makes, not waiting for Jimin when walking off stage is not something he usually does. Was it jealousy?  Was it just a disliking of Taemin specifically?  And if he dislikes Taemin, why is that?  We can’t know. 

OK now, I know I said that I won’t be doing Twitter, but this one I felt I had to (again, oops):

On the 6th of August 2017 JM posted a photo he took during their Hawaii trip (BV2). Why take this photo, and why post it?  Do I really have to ask this question?

I couldn’t find the actual date of this interview, but it was uploaded end of August 2017. I really enjoyed this one.  Everyone talks about JK’s “arrest me” JM mishap during this interview.  The members reactions are to die for.  

Can someone tell me please what Suga told JK in Korean before they moved on?????  

Also, JK’s reaction when JM said he wanted to collab with Suga (watch from 7:58min), was like:

 W H A T  in  T H E  actual F U C K???. LMAO.  

Summer package 2017 – released August 2017.

JK and JM being all playful by the pool.  JK letting us know how adorable JM is to him when he is swimming doggy style in the pool.

The one that stands out to me, though, is the ‘dream catcher necklace saga’.  Felt a little uneasy to see that one, like I was witness to a lover’s tiff.  

The boys were given a budget each to purchase themselves a gift.  They are taken together to a gift shop, where they check the merchandise out and each buy themselves a little souvenir.  When they all sit down to show each other their gifts, that’s when this moment happens.

JK takes out his gift. I once again want to emphasize, this is a gift he bought with his budget for himself.  He explains it’s a dream catcher and says he will put it in his room.  

JM, sitting next to him, takes it from JK and says: “this is a necklace Jungkook-ssi”. 

JK blurts out adamantly that he won’t hang it around his neck.   

This is when things get awkward, because you can see JM is clearly upset, throws the necklace back at JK and says: “OK, then”.

JM has a dream catcher necklace around his neck too, and when it’s his turn to tell what gift he bought himself he takes the necklace off and gives it to V, saying he bought the gift for V, who had a nightmare last night.

After JM’s mini tantrum JK, who previously adamantly professed he will not put it around his neck, does everything he can to put the necklace on, finally turning to JM to help him put the it on, which he does.  

Later on, while sitting for the personal interview, with the necklace around his neck, he tells us how from now on he won’t have nightmares.

What did I get from all that?

Clearly JM was pissed at JK’s reaction.  Why?  JK clearly bought this by himself for himself. 

But did he?  Was it something he chose for himself, or was it something JM suggested to him?

JM also bought a dream catcher.  Was that a coincidence?  For some reason, I don’t think so.  

My theory is that the dream catcher is something JM suggested or wanted JK to buy for himself, and JK reluctance to wear it offended him.  JM clearly bought the other dream catcher for V.  Perhaps he wanted both his boys to have one, and to him, JK’s comment felt as a rejection.

The way JK reacted to JM, his immediate change of attitude towards the necklace, trying to put it on, when only a second earlier he said he won’t put this around his neck, shows how attuned he was to JM, how he immediately realised he did something wrong, something to upset JM, and how he tried, in his own way, to atone for it, by wearing the same thing he but seconds ago rejected.

This brings me back to the point I made about the boys relationship, and them finding the balance. A perfect example to how there will still be conflict, but how JK realises, immediately, that he had done wrong and what he has done wrong, and immediately sets to right the wrong, hence to restore that balance.

"Are you nervous?" I asked, raising my eyebrows as my heart thumped in my chest.

Niall turned to me and sent me a small smile, shaking his head lightly. "A good nervous I guess." He breathed in and turned to face me, raising his eyebrows at me. "I wouldn't have been able to do all that without you."

My lips curled on the right and I tilted my head. "Don't say that. You did all that by yourself. It's your achievement." I pointed out, taking a step closer and moving my chin up to look in his eyes. "And I'm so proud of you."

It was true, I really was. In only a few months, he had recorded an entire album and was finally releasing it. There were more people than we expected and he breathed in and out slowly, rubbing his hands on his jeans. I felt as nervous as he was and licked my lips, reaching for his hands and squeezing them tight.

"I'll be first row, okay?" I tried to reassure him, getting on my tiptoes to kiss his jaw. "You're the most talented person I know, and now everyone will see it."

He moved his head down to kiss my lips and I felt my heart jump in my chest. Every single time he kissed me, I felt my heart twist in my chest. No one has ever made me happy the way Niall was making me happy, and even after almost a year, my feelings for him kept growing with every smile, every kiss, every 'i love you'.

"All my songs are about you." he whispered as my lips curled against his before I kissed him harder, shutting my eyes tight.

I ended up front row, right in front of the stage, and when he started talking, his eyes found me every few seconds, making me smile more every time. I knew there were journalists in the room and that it was extremely important for him but when he started singing, I felt like I was alone with him.

"This is for my main girl." he let out, glancing at me and making my heart skip a few beats.

I started nibbling on my bottom lip as he sang and without realizing it, I started tearing up. I couldn't believe I had almost passed up the chance to be happy with someone who really loved me. Niall was right, it was okay to love again, and risking this was the best decision I ever took.

I swallowed hard, trying not to cry, but I couldn't help it and teared up at his lyrics. I had heard pretty much all his songs and I loved them all, but this one was new to me. He had told me he wanted it to be a surprise and when he played the last notes on his guitar, he turned to me and sent me a wink, making me chuckle through my tears.

I couldn't help but look at the way people reacted to his songs and when he was finally done, we stayed for a few more hours, selling cds and having a few drinks with our friends. I stared at Niall laughing with Lewis a bit farther and got out of my thoughts when someone touched my arm. I turned around and smiled, grabbing the beer Louis was handing me and thanking him before taking a sip.

"Everything good between you two?" he asked, moving his chin quickly in Niall's direction.

I used this opportunity to glance at my boyfriend again and nodded. "Yes. I think he's the right one."

"Yea, that was obvious from day one, if you ask me." Louis shrugged, making me roll my eyes with a smile. "You're both so stubborn. You, especially. And sassy, too."

"Any other adjective that starts with an 'S'?" I asked jokingly, making him chuckle.

"Yes! Stupid!" He laughed as I hit his arm lightly and I smiled more.

I couldn't say he was wrong though. Niall and I had both been a bit stupid before we started dating and I guess it was a part of our story.

"Hey, by the way!" he continued, his eyes getting bigger. "When's your exhibition?"

I breathed in and sighed, shaking my head. "In a few weeks, and I'm not ready." I admitted, licking my lips. "It's so much pressure, I don't know how Niall does it."

"I'm sure it'll be amazing." he took a step closer, looking in my eyes.

"You know me, I'm not the type to enjoy being the center of attention."

"Dev, you're talented, and your art is worth sharing with the world, trust me."

I sent him a small smile and he nodded, pulling me closer into a hug before I shut my eyes with a sigh, wrapping my free arm around him. He let me go after a few seconds and I took an other sip of my beer, raising my eyebrows at him.

"How are you and Eleanor?"

"Amazing, thanks for asking!" he replied with a smile.

"Yea I'm sorry, I've been stuck in my bubble with Niall, but I promise we'll see each other more often now! You know what they say about new couples."

"New couples?" he chuckled, almost choking on his drink. "You've been together for almost a year."
