imagine being giddy while out with the BAU team getting tipsy and talking about your sex life. but the reader is secretly dating hotch, so she stays quite. until one of the girls starts hounding reader about how she said her current partner is the best sex she’s ever had. and hotch just tries to not be a cheeky little shit.
this is not quite what u meant but I hope it's OK! ♥︎ fem!reader
There's a girl across the way. Tall, gorgeous, making eyes at Derek Morgan like her life depends on it.
"Morgan, come on," Emily says, "I thought you had game. This is just sad."
Morgan nods agreeably, an action dripping in sarcasm, and downs the rest of his drink. "I got better than game," he says, patting Emily on the arm as he stands.
"What's better than game?" she asks incredulously, twisting in her seat to follow Morgan's path with her eyes before turning back to you and the others, expression reflecting her disbelief.
"I should've let him buy me that appletini he promised me," you say, dipping your head toward Hotch on your left, and Rossi on his. "I don't think he's coming back."
"I'll get it," Hotch says.
"Always on the boss to pick up the slack," Rossi drawls with a smirk.
Hotch nearly laughs. "Another round. The same for everyone?"
"I wouldn't mind an appletini, boss," JJ jokes.
"You know, he'll actually get you one now," Emily says, all of you turned to watch him making his way to the bar.
Morgan and his gorgeous girl are hitting it off quite clearly halfway down the bar. JJ, who's a little tipsy already, beams at them and wiggles her shoulders.
"I think somebody's getting lucky," she says.
"I hate to say it, but I'm jealous of Morgan right now. Don't," Emily says, sliding down into her seat, "tell him I said that."
"I thought you were steady with that guy," you say sympathetically, "the chiropractor."
Emily moans out in sadness. "I was. Turns out guys don't like when you cancel four dates in a row. He... was really good at his job."
Emily might be more intoxicated than you'd thought. You laugh too loudly and think maybe you are, too.
Hotch approaches from the left with a tray of drinks in hand and you slide your chair out of his way, feeling his "Thank you," warm the back of your neck.
"Laugh at my pain," Emily says at your giggling.
You shuffle forward to hear her better over the small hubbub of Hotch, Rossi and Reid sorting drinks into place. Penelope appears again from her excursion to the bathroom and slides right into Morgan's empty seat.
"What about you and mystery man?" Emily asks.
You're less subtle than you should be, your eyes straying to the shadow of Hotch in your peripherals. "What about him?"
"Is that still going well?"
"It's going more than well," JJ says knowingly, retrieving her appletini with a sweet thanks. "What did you tell me on the way back from Illinois?"
"I told you that in confidence," you rush to say, to plead, eyes widening. "Tired confidence."
"What did she say?" Emily asks, her smile turning evil.
JJ laya back in her seat, almost tipping her drink, and covers her eyebrows with her index finger. Everyone knows immediately that she's imitating you, worse when she puts on a quiet awe. "I didn't know it could be like that. I mean, I didn't realise a man would care so much about making sure I feel good." She fans her face. "And he really cares, JJ."
"Please don't," you say, covering your face with both hands. You're not truly upset, but it's embarrassing nonetheless.
"It's sweet!" JJ cries.
"What? You're having heart to hearts without me?" Penelope asks.
"It wasn't a heart to heart, Pen, I was just tired, and–"
"So you didn't mean it?"
The entire table waits for your answer. You feel Hotch's silence louder than everybody else's, and you're so flustered you don't know what to do. You hadn't counted on letting him in on how happy you are in the bedroom, not this soon.
"I meant it," you breathe, "but it's not something I wanted to share with everybody."
"No? You won't want me to tell them about how big his hands are, then," JJ says.
"JJ," Hotch says, and you can hear his awful smile, "let's not embarrass her too much."
Emily jumps to your defence, and soon the table has turned on JJ completely, jokes about one specific New Orleans accent taking centre stage.
Hotch slides your appletini closer while they're distracted. "He cares, honey. More than you know."
You take a shuddering breath. "I know," you say, voice small.
"You do? So you won't need reminding?"
"How about you, sir? Things still going well with that younger girl?" Penelope asks, all gossip.
A big hand lands on your thigh. You still, the heat of his skin seeping down into yours as he inches inward.
"I'd say things were going well," Hotch says. He punctuates with a secret squeeze. "She might say differently."

If you are comfortable with this, could you write one with Barbara and Adam Maitland with the dialogue “you may not find my dad jokes funny, but I have other ways of making you laugh.”
i realized only after i finished this that i forgot to include the dialogue NOOOOOOO
this is the same premise tho, hope u enjoy it!!!
Not a House, But a Home
“Honey, can you fix us some lunch while I finish this up?” Barbara calls, dropping her paintbrush into the glue bucket. She gathers up the remaining wallpaper as neat as possible and sets it out of the way.
This house of theirs is really starting to feel like a home. A little too big for just the two of them, but there’s nothing to be done about that. That ‘expanding the family’ conversation always ends in a depressingly existential place, and well…why think about that when she can put up new wallpaper?
The sickly yellow of the original house had always felt like a bad omen, but she’s hoping this pastel brocade will really liven up the place. Maybe the green would bring them some luck in their new lives.
“Adam, I’m hungry,” Barbara calls again, frowning at where the wallpaper’s already starting to lift.
She’s never claimed to be good at renovations, anyways. Thank god she didn’t start with their disaster of a bathroom.
“Hi hungry, I’m dad.” Adam calls back, rounding the corner with a glowing smile.
“Ha ha.” Barbara puts her hands on her hips and huffs a strand of hair out of her face.
“You’ll never believe what I found in one of our boxes.” Adam brandishes a worn, bright blue book with garish text on the cover. The saturation is so intense that Barbara can hardly read it. He flips through it, muttering to himself, and stops on a random page.
“What’s brown and sticky?” He reads, mischief dancing in his eyes. She stares blankly at him.
“A stick!” He laughs—genuinely laughs, as if Barbara had told the joke herself. She rolls her eyes fondly.
“Aw, I thought that one would get you.” Adam pouts.
“Dad jokes just aren’t funny.” She shrugs. He flips through the book again.
“What kind of drink can be both bitter and sweet?” Adam pauses dramatically. “Reali-tea.”
“That’s just depressing, babe.” Barbara sighs.
“You’re right. Oh! Here’s another one—when does a dad joke become a dad joke? When it becomes…apparent. Get it? Apparent?” He wheezes, nudging her shoulder. She smiles, but more at his antics than anything.
“Yes, I get it. You goofball.” She swats his shoulder.
“But you still didn’t laugh.” He frowns.
“Traditionally, people laugh at jokes that are funny. I don’t think your book is going to help you with that.” She kisses his cheek, resigning to make lunch herself while Adam works this little tangent out of his system.
“No, wait, I’ve got a winner.” Adam tosses the book onto the dining room table. He wraps his arms around her waist from behind, stopping her escape to the kitchen.
“How many tickles does it take to make an octopus laugh?”
“Uhm…I dunno?” Barbara instinctually leans back into him, looking fondly up and over her shoulder at his giddy face.
“Ten-tickles!”
“Waitwaitwait, Adam! Ohoho nohoho!” Barbara tosses her head back into his shoulder as he tickles her. He kisses her temple as if he isn’t the problem.
“So you do find my jokes funny!” Adam gasps happily. Barbara squirms in his grasp, her whole face scrunched with laughter.
“N-No I don’t!”
“Then why are you laughing?” Adam asks directly into her neck. He’s wise enough to dart out of the way, having enough past practice getting headbutted by her to be quick in his shenanigans. He zips between the sides of her neck, planting fluttery little kisses that make her knees and lungs go weak.
Barbara cackles, slapping her hands over her mouth to muffle herself. Adam tickles her ribs because he’s mean, he’s so mean, and she grabs his wrists instead. He picks her up a little, vibrating a claw into her stomach, and she kicks her legs with everything she has.
“Hey. Hey Barbara. What kind of music do chiropractors listen to?” He squeezes her sides, ensuring nothing but squeals can escape her. “They listen to hip pop!”
“Adam!”
“Wanna hear a joke about construction? Ah, sorry. Still working on it.”
“Okay, okahahay, you’re funny!” She pats his hand frantically, doubling over in his arms. He lets her go, but not without one last squeeze to the waist. She grabs his hands before he can get any more ideas.
He kisses her, one of those great big mwahs! that she never gets tired of. God, he’s a dork. Her dork.
“‘Kay, now it’s definitely sandwich time.” She pats his chest, sucking in a deep, giggly breath. Her legs are still a little wobbly underneath her.
“Y’know, I’ve been trying to write a song about sandwiches.” Adam grins.
“Don’t—“
“It’s really more of a wrap.”
Barbara sighs with fond exasperation. Adam leans in for another kiss, running off to the kitchen with a yelp when she pinches his side. She waits until she hears the clanging of utensils to release the chuckle she’s holding.
“A wrap. Classic.” She shakes her head and snickers.

Guess who’s back for round 3! 🤪🤦‍♀️
The Waimak team really loved having Forrest around but unfortunately he’s managed to do some minor damage to himself and needs some time out to recover! The chiropractor’s been out to assess and he’s had 2 weeks of no work, so now it’s lots of hacking and stretching to fix it! 🤦‍♀️
No idea what he’s done to himself or how he’s managed to do it but he’s incredibly tight in his shoulders, so your favourite back and shoulder stretches would be massively appreciated 🤷‍♀️

VII.
In the final weeks of July, the team under Dr. Chevalier grew very accustomed to being muddy, mosquito-bitten, and sore. “I swear,” Eli said cheerfully as he packaged up yet another round of soil samples, “I’ve never seen anybody so depressed while he’s making his whole career. Well, except for Ambrose, I suppose.”
“I might be ‘making my whole career’,” Professor Sur grumbled, sitting up with a groan. Kneeling at the bottom of the king’s grave, carefully clearing dirt from tiny royal finger bones as delicate and strenuous work. He leaned back, pushed on the sides of the grave and twisted his torso around. Eli winced as several loud cracks sounded from the other man’s back.
Gwaine’s shoulders sagged with relief, “Ahhh— that’s much better. I might be making my career, but I’m also going to make my chiropractor's whole career at this rate. And possibly contracting malaria.”
“Hey, this bloke could be King Uther. A little malaria’s not so bad.” Eli objected as Gwaine settled back to his work.
“Spoken like someone who’s never had malaria.” Guy Asclepius said from his position by the jeep where he was cataloging the remains that were ready for transport to the lab.
“Are you saying you have had malaria?” Gwaine’s head popped up over the edge of the grave again. Guy only raised an eyebrow in response.
Eli shrugged. “Yeah, OK, bad disease bad, sure… but I’ve also never discovered King Uther before.” He hefted his black plastic box of samples like it weighed nothing. “Hey, Doc, can I put this on the Jeep? They need to go back to Morry and the team.”
Guy sighed and waved a hand, “Ah, but to be young again, the world is so simple. Help yourself, my boy. Although I hope you don’t expect me to haul that lot up the stairs when we get there.”
Eli laughed, “Nah, just call Morry, he’ll do it.”
Morry, along with about twenty others, had been called in from various contacts at the university to speed up the work. They’d had no other choice; upon discovery of the island site, it had become clear that there was more work there than could be done in a whole season, much less two weeks. In addition to the added help, they’d taken up round-the clock shifts to both protect the site and get as much work done as possible before the end of the season.
“Be much easier to get this done if the damn rain would just leave off for a few weeks.” Gwaine grumbled as Eli loaded his samples in with the finds. “It’s been a deluge ever since we found these burials. Turns everything to mud. Can’t hardly see what I’m doing, and there’s no detector for teeth.”
“Just be glad it’s clear at the moment.” Eli advised, shutting the Jeep and waving to Guy to head off. Gwaine was unimpressed; “Rain and shift work. Can’t even get a pint, going at this pace.” his grumbling continued unabated as the Jeep rolled off. “No time to even think about the finds. Going to be a right old mess, sorting all these bones out at the lab.”
“Ah Professor Sur,” Lee said, approaching from the knight cemetery with his shovel on his shoulder. “I see you’re a contender for ‘Miss Congeniality’ again this year.”
“Did Lance and the kids finish up?” Eli asked. Gwaine popped up like a groundhog, tossing his brush out of the grave and carefully standing. “Now there’s some good news. I need to go check their boxes if they’re done.”
Lee nodded, “The patron saint of endless patience is helping the students pack up the last bones as we speak. All that’s left is for Professor Sur to sign off on their logs and they can send the bones to the lab and start helping you here.”
“Excellent.” The professor levered himself out of the grave with sudden energy. “I love the smell of minimum-wage student labor in the morning.”
“Have you seen Percy, by the way?” Lee called, as Gwaine made to head off to the other site. “He’s not still talking his wizard off the ledge, is he?”
“Dunno.” Gwaine called back, waving a hand. “Ambrose won’t hardly speak to me. I think he’s still moping about uncovering the greatest find in British archaeology for the last thirty years.”
Eli snorted. “Well now, I’d love to have his problems.”
Gwaine laughed and jogged off to see to his students. Lee shook his head at the pair of them, leaning carefully at the edge of the royal burial to survey the work Gwaine had gotten done so far. “Well, you know what they say.”
“What, ‘one man’s career-defining discovery is another man’s—‘ what? Honestly, how bad can discovering the best archaeological site ever possibly be?”
“Maybe there’s something going on with him we don’t realize.”
At that moment, the sky opened and rain began to pour on the site, gently at first, then quickly turning into a downpour. The two men ran for the plastic tarps, scrambling to keep water out of the excavated graves. Gwaine could hardly be heard over the rain, swearing prolifically as he scrambled to help his students move their cardboard boxes to better cover. No one noticed the lone figure standing on the end of the excavation, motionless in the deluge.

Correcting Poor Posture with Chiropractic BioPhysics: A Comprehensive Guide
As a chiropractor Asheville, I've noticed a troubling trend: more and more patients are coming to our clinic with posture-related issues. In our digital age, where many of us spend countless hours hunched over computers and smartphones, poor posture has become almost epidemic. But here's the good news - at our Asheville practice, we've seen remarkable success using Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) to help patients regain proper alignment and live pain-free lives.
Understanding Poor Posture: More Than Just "Sitting Up Straight
Tumblr media
Poor posture isn't just about remembering to stand tall. It's a complex issue that can manifest in several ways. The most common problems we see at Haven Chiropractic Posture and Scoliosis include:
Rounded Shoulders: Often seen in office workers and smartphone users, where shoulders roll forward and chest caves in
Forward Head Posture: When your head juts forward past your shoulders (every inch forward adds about 10 pounds of stress to your spine!)
Hyperkyphosis: An excessive rounding of the upper back, sometimes called "hunchback"
What causes these issues?
In our experience, the primary culprits are:
A sedentary lifestyle (those long hours at the desk really add up)
Improper ergonomics at work or home
Muscle imbalances from repetitive activities or lack of exercise
Why Your Posture Matters: Health Implications You Can't Ignore
Let me be clear - poor posture isn't just about appearances. Here in Haven Chiropractic, we regularly see how misalignment can cascade into various health issues:
Physical Impact
Poor posture often leads to immediate problems like:
Chronic back and neck pain
Persistent headaches
Reduced range of motion
Joint stiffness and discomfort
Systemic Health Effects
What many people don't realize is that posture affects your entire body. We've observed patients experiencing:
Digestive issues due to compressed internal organs
Breathing difficulties from restricted lung capacity
Increased risk of chronic conditions due to nervous system interference
Chiropractic BioPhysics: A Scientific Approach to Better Posture
At our Asheville clinic - Haven Chiropractic Posture and Scoliosis, we're proud to offer Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP) - one of the most researched and evidence-based approaches in chiropractic care. Chiropractic Solutions for Chronic Shoulder Pain
You'll find effective relief from chronic shoulder pain through targeted chiropractic care that addresses both symptoms and root causes. Whether you're dealing with rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, or pain from poor posture, chiropractors can help restore proper joint function through specialized adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and rehabilitative exercises. Treatment plans typically combine various techniques like joint manipulation, cold laser therapy, and myofascial release to reduce inflammation and improve mobility. Along with professional care, you'll learn essential self-care strategies and exercises to maintain long-term shoulder health. Discover how these all-encompassing solutions can transform your shoulder pain into lasting comfort and strength.
Understanding Your Shoulder Joint https://www.zahnchiropractic.com
The shoulder joint is one of the most complex and mobile structures in your body. It's made up of three main bones: your humerus (upper arm), scapula (shoulder blade), and clavicle (collarbone). These bones work together with a network of muscles, tendons, and ligaments to give you an impressive range of motion.
youtube
Your shoulder's ball-and-socket design lets you rotate your arm in multiple directions, but this flexibility also makes it prone to injury. The rotator cuff, a group of four muscles and their tendons, helps stabilize the joint and enables smooth movement. The joint is further protected by the glenohumeral capsule, which contains synovial fluid to reduce friction during movement.
You'll find several other key components in your shoulder, including the bursa sacs that cushion the joint, the labrum that deepens the socket, and the deltoid muscle that gives your shoulder its rounded shape. Understanding these anatomical elements helps explain why shoulder pain can stem from various sources, from muscle strains to joint instability, and why proper diagnosis is essential for effective treatment.
Common Causes of Shoulder Pain
While shoulder pain can affect people of all ages and activity levels, several common conditions frequently trigger discomfort in this complex joint. Rotator cuff injuries, including tears and tendinitis, often develop from repetitive overhead movements or sudden trauma. You'll typically experience pain when reaching up or behind your back if you have this condition.
Frozen shoulder, or adhesive capsulitis, causes progressive stiffness and reduced range of motion in your shoulder joint. If you're dealing with arthritis, you might notice grinding sensations and pain during movement as the joint's cartilage wears down. Bursitis occurs when the fluid-filled sacs that cushion your shoulder become inflamed, usually from overuse or injury.
Poor posture, particularly forward head posture and rounded shoulders, can lead to muscle imbalances and shoulder impingement. If you work at a desk or frequently use mobile devices, you're especially susceptible to these issues. Sports injuries, such as dislocations and labral tears, commonly affect athletes and active individuals who participate in throwing sports or activities requiring overhead movements.

Here’s why you might not be seeing the results you want when working on your posture…
Many patients I see miss out on long-term progress because they’re only focusing on 1 or 2 out of these 3 key elements. But to really improve posture, you need all 3!
Consistency 🫡 Consistency is a game-changer. Whether it’s doing exercises or scheduling regular full-body chiropractic adjustments, consistent effort leads to real improvement. It doesn’t mean an hour of exercise every day; even quick stretches at your desk keep your body active. This regularity is what truly counts!
Understanding the ‘Why’ 🤔 You can’t correct posture without knowing the root cause. A generic approach won’t work. Maybe it's an old injury or foot alignment issue? That’s why working with a good chiropractor, like a Kilmore chiropractor or chiro in Lancefield, is essential to uncover what’s really going on with your body.
Targeted Exercises 🤝 Exercises are essential for pain relief, alignment, and strength. For example, to fix rounded shoulders, back-strengthening exercises help reposition them correctly. However, these exercises also need to combat everyday habits, like how you sit, walk, or sleep. It takes effort, but it’s worth it!
Want to learn more about how chiropractic care in Lancefield or a chiropractor appointment in Melbourne could help you? Visit us at https://thechiropracticco.com.au/kilmore/ or find a "good chiropractor near me" for guidance.

Dr. Etienne Archambault Explains the Connection Between Posture and Pain
Tumblr media
Good posture is often overlooked as a simple aspect of daily life, but it plays a significant role in how our bodies feel and function. Many people experience pain without realizing that poor posture might be the root cause. According to Dr. Etienne Archambault, a highly skilled chiropractor, the alignment of your spine and overall posture can have a profound impact on your health. In this blog, we will explore how posture is linked to pain and how improving it can lead to a healthier, pain-free life.
Understanding the Role of Posture
Posture refers to the way we position our bodies, whether we are standing, sitting, or lying down. Good posture means that your body is aligned correctly, with your joints and muscles working efficiently. When your posture is off, certain muscles and ligaments are put under unnecessary strain, which can lead to discomfort or pain over time. Dr. Etienne Archambault emphasizes that maintaining proper posture is essential not only for preventing pain but also for overall well-being.
The Link Between Poor Posture and Pain
One of the most common issues caused by poor posture is back pain. When you slouch or lean forward too much while sitting or standing, your spine is forced out of alignment. This can lead to muscle imbalances, pinched nerves, and even tension in the neck and shoulders. Dr. Etienne Archambault explains that misalignment of the spine can cause pressure on the discs and nerves, leading to pain in areas like the lower back, neck, and even the hips.
Another area where posture plays a crucial role is in the development of tension headaches. Poor posture, especially when working at a desk for long hours, can cause the muscles in your neck and upper back to become tight and fatigued. This tension can lead to headaches that can be both persistent and debilitating. Proper posture can help alleviate this pressure and prevent the onset of these painful headaches.
Additionally, poor posture can affect other areas of your body, such as your joints and muscles. For example, when your shoulders are rounded forward or your pelvis tilts excessively, it can throw off the alignment of your entire body. This can create pain in the knees, hips, or feet due to the altered distribution of weight and force.
How Chiropractic Care Can Help
Dr. Etienne Archambault, with his extensive experience in chiropractic care, understands the importance of spinal health when it comes to posture and pain relief. Chiropractic care involves the manipulation of the spine to correct misalignments and improve overall function. By working with a chiropractor like Etienne Archambault, you can address postural issues and relieve the pain caused by poor alignment.
Dr. Etienne Archambault uses a variety of techniques to help his patients improve posture, including spinal adjustments, stretching exercises, and ergonomic advice. Chiropractic adjustments help realign the spine and reduce the pressure on nerves and muscles that can be contributing to pain. By improving spinal alignment, you can restore the natural curves of the spine, which supports better posture and reduces strain on your body.
Tips for Improving Posture
While chiropractic care is highly effective, there are also simple changes you can make on your own to improve your posture and reduce pain. Dr. Etienne Archambault recommends the following tips for better posture:
Sit Up Straight: When sitting, ensure that your back is straight and your shoulders are relaxed but not slouched. Use a chair that supports the natural curve of your spine.
Stand Tall: When standing, keep your weight evenly distributed on both feet, and avoid leaning forward or backward. Imagine a string pulling you upward from the top of your head to maintain good alignment.
Take Frequent Breaks: If you work at a desk, take short breaks every 30 minutes to stretch your legs and move around. This helps prevent stiffness and tension from building up.
Strengthen Core Muscles: A strong core supports better posture. Include exercises like planks or yoga to strengthen your abdominal and back muscles.
Use Ergonomic Furniture: Ensure that your workspace is set up ergonomically, with your computer monitor at eye level and your chair supporting your lower back.
Conclusion
The connection between posture and pain is clear—poor posture can lead to discomfort and even long-term pain if left unchecked. Fortunately, with the guidance of a chiropractor like Dr. Etienne Archambault, you can address posture-related pain and learn techniques to maintain better posture for a healthier life. Chiropractic care, along with mindful daily habits, can make a world of difference in reducing pain and improving your overall well-being. If you're struggling with posture-related discomfort, consider visiting Dr. Etienne Archambault to discuss how chiropractic care can help you live a pain-free, balanced life.

The Best Neck Pain Treatments at Your Chiropractor
Tumblr media
Neck pain is one of the most common issues people face today, often resulting from poor posture, long hours at a desk, stress, or an underlying medical condition. It can cause discomfort in daily activities, limit movement, and even lead to headaches or upper back pain. Fortunately, neck pain treatment options at your chiropractor can offer much-needed relief, helping you regain mobility and reduce discomfort.
Chiropractors specialize in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal conditions, particularly those related to the spine, including neck pain. They take a holistic approach, focusing not just on treating symptoms but also on addressing the root causes of pain. Whether you’re dealing with acute discomfort from a recent injury or chronic neck pain that has lingered for months, visiting your chiropractor can be the key to long-lasting relief.
1. Chiropractic Adjustments for Neck Pain
One of the most well-known treatments for neck pain is a chiropractic adjustment, also known as spinal manipulation. This technique involves the chiropractor applying controlled, sudden force to the joints in your neck, aiming to improve alignment and relieve tension. Adjustments help reduce pain by easing muscle tightness and improving the mobility of the spine.
By realigning the vertebrae in your neck, chiropractic adjustments can take pressure off nerves that may be pinched, which is often the cause of radiating pain or numbness in your arms and hands. Many patients experience immediate relief from neck pain following an adjustment, and regular visits can prevent the pain from returning.
Chiropractors ensure that these adjustments are performed safely and with precision. If you’re hesitant about adjustments due to concerns about discomfort, it’s important to note that chiropractors will modify their techniques based on your comfort level and the severity of your neck pain.
2. Soft Tissue Therapy
In addition to spinal manipulation, chiropractors often use soft tissue therapy as part of a comprehensive neck pain treatment plan. Soft tissue therapy focuses on relieving tension and inflammation in the muscles surrounding your neck and shoulders. This technique may include massage, trigger point therapy, or stretching exercises.
When muscles become tight or inflamed, they can restrict movement and exacerbate neck pain. Soft tissue therapy works by relaxing these muscles, increasing blood flow, and reducing any spasms or knots that have developed. This is especially beneficial for those whose neck pain is linked to stress, poor posture, or muscle strain.
Patients often find that soft tissue therapy not only provides relief but also improves their overall range of motion. When combined with chiropractic adjustments, it can offer a well-rounded approach to managing neck pain, addressing both the spine and the surrounding muscles.
3. Postural Correction and Ergonomic Advice
A crucial aspect of neck pain treatment is addressing poor posture, which is a leading cause of neck discomfort. Many of us spend hours each day sitting in front of a computer, looking down at our phones, or slouching in awkward positions, all of which can strain the neck.
Your chiropractor can assess your posture and provide guidance on how to correct it. They may suggest exercises to strengthen your core and upper back muscles, which play a significant role in supporting your neck. Additionally, they can offer ergonomic advice on how to set up your workspace to prevent neck strain.
For example, adjusting your chair height, computer monitor, or using a standing desk can all contribute to better posture and reduced neck pain. Small lifestyle changes can make a big difference in preventing chronic neck pain, and your chiropractor will work with you to create an actionable plan.
4. Rehabilitation Exercises
Exercise is another critical component of neck pain treatment. Chiropractors often prescribe specific exercises tailored to strengthen the muscles in your neck and upper back. These exercises can help improve flexibility, reduce stiffness, and prevent future pain by maintaining proper alignment and support for your spine.
Some common rehabilitation exercises include neck stretches, shoulder rolls, and resistance training to build muscle strength. Your chiropractor will demonstrate how to perform these exercises correctly to avoid further strain and ensure that they are effective in treating your neck pain.
The goal of rehabilitation exercises is not only to alleviate current discomfort but also to help you maintain long-term spinal health. When performed regularly, these exercises can significantly reduce the likelihood of recurring neck pain, improving your overall quality of life.
5. Lifestyle Recommendations for Ongoing Relief
Chiropractors focus on providing long-lasting relief from neck pain, which often includes making adjustments to your daily habits. In addition to exercises and posture corrections, they may recommend strategies to manage stress, improve sleep quality, and maintain an active lifestyle.
Stress management techniques, such as mindfulness, meditation, or yoga, can help reduce muscle tension and prevent neck pain flare-ups. Staying active with regular exercise also plays an important role in maintaining flexibility and spinal health. Your chiropractor will guide you in incorporating these strategies into your routine, ensuring that you stay on the path to pain-free living.
The Benefits of Chiropractic Care for Neck Pain
Chiropractors provide a variety of non-invasive and effective options for treating neck pain. Their approach is patient-centered, meaning each treatment plan is tailored to your specific needs and health goals. By focusing on the underlying causes of your pain, they aim to deliver lasting relief instead of just temporary fixes.
Many patients appreciate that chiropractic care doesn’t rely on medications or surgeries. Instead, it focuses on natural, hands-on treatments that work with your body’s ability to heal. Whether through adjustments, soft tissue therapy, or postural corrections, chiropractic care helps improve your overall spinal health, allowing you to live pain-free.
Conclusion
If you’ve been struggling with neck pain, visiting your chiropractor could be the first step toward feeling better. With a combination of chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue therapy, postural corrections, and personalized exercises, neck pain treatment can offer you relief and restore your mobility.
Taking a proactive approach to managing your neck pain ensures you can enjoy everyday activities without discomfort. By seeking expert care and making small lifestyle changes, you can alleviate neck pain and prevent it from coming back, allowing you to lead a healthier, more comfortable life.

Diagnosis and Planning: Based on the assessment and examination, we will diagnose your condition and develop a personalized treatment plan. This plan will be tailored to your specific needs and goals.
Chiropractic Adjustments: The core of chiropractic care involves manual adjustments to correct misalignments in the spine and other joints. These adjustments are performed with precision and care to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Rehabilitation Exercises: In addition to adjustments, we may recommend specific exercises to strengthen your muscles, improve flexibility, and support your recovery.

How can everyday activities contribute to poor posture?
Everyday activities like heavy bags on one shoulder can cause poor posture. When you bend over improperly to lift objects then your posture can cause upper back pain. Standing for long periods without shifting your weight can also contribute to misalignment and muscle pain.
Chiropractors can teach you how to have good posture and minimizes strain on your upper back. They teach exercises and stretches to strengthen the spine supporting muscles. They make it easier to maintain proper posture during daily tasks.

3 Reasons Why Your Low Back Hurts When You Stand Up
Tumblr media
There can be several factors that contribute to pain when transitioning from a sitting to a standing position. Here are a few possible causes:
Imbalances within the pelvis and its surrounding muscles.  Prolonged sitting can lead to both structural and muscle imbalances, particularly in the sacrum (hip bone), hip flexors and gluteal muscles. When you stand up, these imbalances can cause pain as the muscles readjust and try to support your body weight. If this is the cause of your pain, the best treatment is to see a chiropractor near you.
Joint stiffness: Remaining seated for extended periods can cause joints, such as the knees and hips, to become stiff. When you stand up, the sudden movement can strain these stiff joints and cause discomfort.
Poor posture: Maintaining improper posture while sitting, such as slouching or sitting with rounded shoulders, can place excessive stress on your spine and other supporting structures. When you stand up, the change in position can exacerbate the strain on these areas and result in pain.
It’s important to note that these are general possibilities, and the actual cause of your pain may vary. If you frequently experience pain when transitioning from sitting to standing, it’s advisable to consult a healthcare professional, such as a doctor or chiropractor, for a proper evaluation and personalized advice.
If you live in Charlotte and are suffering from low back pain while standing,  check out Active Life Chiropractic in Ballantyne. Our conservative treatments aim to eliminate the root cause of back pain and prevent future flare ups.
