Twinning Agreement between Rotary Club La Valette Malta & Rotary Club Bari Castello

On the 10th February 2017 at the Nicolaus Hotel in Bari, Mr Ernesto Capobianco, President of Rotary Club Bari Castello (District 2120) and Mr. David J. Dingli, President of Rotary Club La Valette Malta (District 2110) met on the occasion to celebrate the Bari Castello 25th anniversary and to sign a Twinning Agreement between their Clubs that share the same values of Rotary International and strive to achieve the principles of Freedom, Justice, Peace and Solidarity.

The purpose for the twinning is to encourage recurring meetings for their members to exchange social, economic and cultural information as well as to understand the place where their members live in order to promote cordial and friendly relationships between the Clubs members and to actualise common ventures/projects based on Rotary International values and areas of focus. The project that seems most likely to be developed is one related to organ donations.

The idea to twin was first discussed in August 2016 when Rotarian Vito Scarola from Rotary Club Bari Castello came to Malta and expressed their Club’s desire to get to know the La Valette Malta Club. His visit was soon followed up by a delegation made up of President Ernesto Capobianco and the Rotarians Vittorio Serra and Vito Scarola. They had the opportunity to meet the La Valette Malta Board and Members and discussed ways in which a twinning relationship could work.

On their visit to Bari, Rotary Club La Valette Malta was also represented by Rotarians Marlyse Cremers, Sandra La Rosa, Mariella Zarb and Brian Gibbs for the occasion.

Members of the Bari Castello Rotary Club extended their hospitality by taking the Malta delegation on sightseeing visits to the Old part of Bari, Trani, Castel Monte, Polignano and Conversano and indeed ensured that they tasted the wonderful food in the Puglia region.
