MY PACK REFRESH SUGGESTSIONS

I have some major things I've been holding onto for a while, and I shared this a few months ago with some people about what I think should be added & changed to the sims 4 for gameplay..

so where do I start lol

outdoor retreat EP - 1. all insects should spawn around the same regular hours and times of day in ALL worlds if you own the pack AND insects would affect harvestables on lots 2. hiking should be allowed here with sims automatically wanting to go scenic hiking just like the mountains in snowy escape...with a guide board for the dangers to look out for in the woods. it should not be just random wandering in the woods just for scavenging for bugs and insects when we can go camping and all this there are other things we can do! the weather is actually pretty crazy in granite falls during storms and blizzards 3. ability to make the cabins RENTABLE for HOLIDAYS and offer a discount if a family/group is coming. or have family vacation cabin days ..as well as having npc families that are in the world to go on camping trips too! 4. kids should be able to go to a summer camp or some kind of camp here. meaning one of the lots should have ability to be a community lot and have a lot type as a summer camp..where they can learn scouting and bug things and campfire folklore even go hunting for big foot and big foot clues with other campers

snowy escape - 1. the festival of lights and festival of youth SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON SEPERATE DAYS. NOT THE SAME DAY & TIME AT RANDOM or at least different weekends , I use 'flea market every sunday mod' there is no reason all the festivals should be tied into the same day in the code. remake the festivals and have them happen seasonally if you own seasons OR spread them out more. 2. festival of lights should allow us to release actual lantern lights in the air with other npc sims! the same way they can gather and watch fireworks i think this should be a thing!!!! it's good for dates and picture taking, they should also have more to do in the 'square' of the festival like dancers and maybe more decorations ...the festival is so dead looking outside the vendors and the fire pit which is hard to notice when it starts. sell bags of koi gold fish (like festival t shirts ) or have npcs give each other red envelopes with how it's done at the romance festival with the rose petal throwing! 3. rescue dogs and rescue team for when camping in the snow mountains. there is no reason we have blizzard to climb to the top and not a rescue npc team that wanders about with gear for us to get from them when it's a controlled place smh. 4. snowboarding / ski career that includes taking promo pics and competing in competitions either in rabbit hole or active career. 5. actual SKIs . 6. actual SNOWMOBILE 7. ice skating career. we got ice skating with seasons and nothing to do with it. we don't even have skating on frozen ponds. at least let ice skating in the mountains happen somehow.. 7. hibachi cook career as apart of cooking career if you own the pack 8. if you own a bathhouse lot you should get passive revenue from it being open

MORE BELOW THE CUT

City Living -1. we should be able to change the decor in the spice festival and fleamarkets. it can have a requirement of types of furniture to be there but they all SPAWN in and we should be able to save how we want that to happen. i hate the mm furniture used and I've always wanted it to be changed 2. npc apartment neighbors should collect their own roommates. without being family or randomly thrown in a household. but labled as roommates so they can always be changed. 3. we should decorate elevator hallways and walkways. 4. there should be the same kind of festival type style we have in cottage living far as people judging their own veggies and cows , but fresh fruit farmers and fresh veggie farmers should come to flea markets and sell those and like fresh juice and other things besides just city vendors. alot of city life isn't nyc city life or LA city life for alot of us. 5. npcs should actually buy fleamarket items and focus on shopping more and haggle us too 6. CC FURNITURE SHOULD BE SOLD AT FLEAMARKETS TOO. 7. stray cats and dogs! where are they?! thats very city living and yet they are not around 8. sims that actually live in san myshuno should actually walk around and be npcs there.. or ones flagged as san my residents. same way mt. koembri residents have tags and distinct ways..the san my residents should have city life trait or something. 9. a busy city overall..the closest thing we have to open neighborhoods are apartments in CL. we need to see yoga classes starting openly in all that blank space at random if we have spa day or art clubs doing art. maybe neighborhood gardening club meet..city brawl between teens..the empty spaces we have when no festivals are happening should be used for more than random political protests. which rarely happen anyway (edited)

10. basketball career! we have a BIG COURT that has no use. why can't university students come and use it for teams and not just rabbit hole soccor teams?! give us basket ball teams for the CL court and have it as a after school gig for kids and teens too

11. environmental career from island living does NOTHING anywhere else not even ECO LIVING!? why is there not a trashy city????? that has to be cleaned? give us trashy san myshuno because eco living is doing what we expected here. we need to be able to clean the environment or at least choose not to and have crap everywhere at least and have clubs that do clean up or the eco living people that do the clean up to make it look nice

12. this probably should go with my GET TOGETHER refresh ideas but.. why are there no headliner DJ careers when we have a karoke bar and club in fashion district? we should be able to have it as a dj as a active career and go on tours basically..also karoke club trait for private karoke also a buff to be known as good at karoke

13. ART SHOWS san myshuno should host random art shows in art district somewhere! if you are a artist sim your art should be able to be displayed at the galleries for fame and etc and sims can take pictures of it and have pics of the artists works or something. we sell prints to the gallery for fame+ anyway so give us a reason to use these galleries. and have artist sims recommend sims for university to art schools (edited)

14. COSPLAY - we should be able to select the costumes and cosplay WE want to wear to the geekcon. if we use cc there should be a pop up that lets us dress how we want for the event as well as cosplayers who show up

15. let us change up how the festival looks at geekcon we should have better gaming centers for famous gamers and streamers and get autographs and all that

16. scam artists who promise fame at the geekcon for promo. yes more consequences

17. astronauts should actually be at geekcon helping with building the ships or at least guiding or taking pictures with people

18. BURGULARS ! and police (npcs or played) should show up asking if you have seen a burglar due to a recent report if you live in san myshuno. basically city life integrated with get to work

Get Famous 1. fashion shows. we have the fashion career now. fashion shows on the strip or can be hosted at hottestspot lots and require reputation to be apart of , and famous sims can ask sims to participate in fashion shows for a $$$ fee. it can also be a mini part time job for regular sims who are not famous and only want to be a famous model by association depending on how they do in the show! 2. singing career! we need it 3. bouncer career! since it's basically a npc career it can kind of be semi-active! or part time! a mini job of guiding famous sims down the red carpet safely and telling crazy fans to leave to kicking out sims acting up on the dance floor we all love a mean bouncer on the premises plus we miss urbz gameplay ALOT 4. handing out flyers and posting online for sims to come watch your show or commercial or movie for sims in the acting career. promoting yourself should be apart of getting famous and not just practice acting !!! 5. whatever you are famous for sims should talk to you and mention that. OH HEY YOURE FAMOUS FOR COOKING! YOURE THAT FAMOUS REPAIR GUY! WOW I MET THE FAMOUS KNITTING GIRL. real perks of fame stuff 10/10 6. this goes with the dj career idea, why not a music producer career that works with DJs?! they both depend on each other and they should work with singers with tracks too. a song produced should be able to be played by the DJ with the singer's title too..and on the radio for maybe "local artists" station for more fame if sims like it! 7. selling dead famous sims autographs should be higher..and owning dead sims autographs should make you famous also and the ammount should keep going up the more u appraise it especially if theyre a superstar.

8. sims should leave flower vases and nice gifts by the door or p.o. mail box of famous sims. ambrosia or really nice gifts like roses and thank you letters that you can collect or picture boards they make as fan, fan things! in high levels of fame*

9. being a famous doctor or cop or scientist (all active careers ) should get your a reality show or offer to film around the hospital or something for $ or at least a interview

10. a real photographer career ...taking pictures of famous sims should be active career and famous sims should react negatively or positively to it since we can PAY to ask paparazzi to leave pay the photographer to leave too. its extra money plus what u make from the photos ..and posting them to the gossip blog is all apart of the job. and if you catch a sim doing something funny or bad thats a bonus for you in the career...and a career path to become: still life, modelling photographer, or paparazzi in the photographer career. i feel like this would take some stalking of other sims lives + homes, but just even pics of the famous sims home is good 'content' for the job

11. i feel like there should be reputation before you get fame. fame is so easy to get and everyone who is known for something is not famous enough to be considered a celeb for it I feel like opting out of fame wouldnt need to be done all the time if reputation was gained before fame. meaning sims can associate you with that thing youre good at but not faun over you for it

12. entourage. not the same as friends or anything but if you are famous enough u should have people who follow u in public or say they are arriving and they basically do whatever you do kinda how add to group works a bit but they actually laugh and point and snare at regular sims and be snooty 13. meet ups and starlight awards ....the meet ups to me are more interactive and should have days set where you can plan a meet up on the calendar for your fans to come and meet you maybe have lunch or at a park or in public places for pics and they can have i love you signs and wear your merch and all that. OR attend a meetup and maybe meet a new celeb. the starlight awards should have it where only famous sims are invited or you get a ticket to go or buy a ticket to go , not just everyone can show up even though you can block that with bouncer doors..still. for gameplay buy a ticket if you have no fame

14. movie producers, directors, actors and workers that work on 'set' of these commercials that you film should also come and scout sims for their next project. same as we have protests for political sims in san myshuno. maybe a improve scene or catching them filming outdoors or at a venue could get you to introduce your sims to celebrities. being good friends with one they might offer you a job at a certain rank or something one day.

Summon Away | Writing Update

Hey People of Earth!

The day has come! I am finally writing an update on the fifteenth and final chapter of Moth Work, which I wrote about a month ago!

Summon Away is probably the shortest in the book at just over 1800 words, and also one of my faves because it’s so?? tender?? I wrote it in one sitting and couldn’t have asked for a better end to this book. Here’s a scene breakdown:

Scene A:

Harrison sees Lonan for a soft moment early in the morning, free of the stress of Eliza lmaooo. They have a super tender moment, however there’s this strange tension to the point where we know something isn’t exactly right.

Harrison moves the scene along by saying he’s going to grab a pack of cigarettes from a gas station down the road. From the context, we can probably tell this is true, except he ain’t coming back. Probably the most sweepingly dramatic moment I’ve ever written and I’m here for it loool. This is my soap opera moment where Harrison essentially leaves Lonan to have his new relationship with Eliza, despite his concern, because he’s gotta make a decision that’s healthiest for him and that’s called character development folks!!

Did I break my own heart breaking up my OTP :) yes!!!

Scene B:

This is a really short half scene where Harrison locates his mother who doesn't live far from Eliza’s apartment.

Scene C:

Harrison and his mother sit outside on her balcony and he reflects on his decision to split (literally a trend that all my Fostered characters are yeeting away from each other oops) while watching people below engage in some form of a relationship with one another. So much drama!!

The chapter gets its title from a Nothing But Thieves song (why would it not at this point), Tempt You (Evocatio). I was struggling to title this chapter because I needed something that fit the vibe, and had actually tried to use the concept of an evocation to title a chapter for this book previously to no avail. However, after revisiting the Wikipedia article for an evocation, I came across the definition of “summon away”:

The Latin word evocatio was the "caIIing forth" or "summoning away" of a city's tutelary deity. The rituaI was conducted in a miIitary setting either as a threat during a siege or as a result of surrender, and aimed at diverting the god's favor from the opposing city to the Roman side, customariIy with a promise of a better-endowed cuIt or a more Iavish Tempie.

I thought this concept of “summoning away” sounded slightly contradictory (the word summon brings images of a coming forth of some sorts, while the word away sounds like the opposite at least to me am I making this more *metaphorical* than it is perhaps) and I really thought the chapter strangely fit the above definition, hence my choosing!

Excerpts:

This is kind of torture because I dearly miss writing the boys interacting as they’re not with each other in Feeding Habits the angstttt:

“What is that?” Harrison asks, pulling back a barstool with one hand, while pointing at the mug with another.

Lonan glances up, and the two mutually analyze each other. Lonan’s puckered skin, how morning makes his eyelashes papery, like wings. He wonders what Lonan sees in him—for a moment, it’s all he wants to know.

Lonan knuckles the mug over and Harrison picks it up like he’s holding an eyeball. The tea is hot, though Lonan hasn’t seemed to mind, and its flowery perfume burns Harrison’s throat. Lonan pulls the mug back to him when Harrison’s done, and takes another sip.

“I still have no idea,” Harrison says, and to his shame, studies Lonan’s face for a bite wound.

“Earl grey.”

“Sounds fancy.”

“It expired four years ago.”

Harrison gasps, and Lonan almost smiles. And for a moment, Harrison almost forgets where he is. What happened at this counter just a few hours prior. With Lonan, it almost disappears. They could be back at the cabin, needling through the woods on that first day they tried to get rid of the dark room. They could be in the water, shielding, yet simultaneously pushing each other under. They could be dancing to no music in a tiny bathroom or driving for carless miles in the tarnish of rain.

This is my very overt metaphor that I bullshitted to title this novel that ended up working being very overtly injected into this book !! :))) but imagine this part with a sepia filter and it’s actually a silent film with captions oh:

“I found this article,” Lonan says, and turns the paper over. It’s not very long, just a small corner of the entire page, but Harrison sees the title, all bolded, Summer’s Dreaded Pesk: 10 Facts About Moths. He leans in closer to read it.

The facts are almost all useless to him—that moths like sweet things, that there are thousands of species, that many don’t eat, but what sticks out to him is the last: how they’re attracted to light. Harrison skims the text with his fingernail, reads something about light traps, and tries not to think of how unfortunate it all is—to move toward light and then stop moving altogether.

He knows whatever he will say will keep him here, in this sun, on this barstool, reading the newspaper about moths, sitting next to Lonan, drinking his tea, never knowing what flavour it is. Harrison inhales, and on his exhale, unclasps the chain and drapes it around Lonan’s throat.

When the angel hits Lonan’s chest, a sound comes out of his mouth that Harrison thinks is almost animal. Harrison’s hand lingers on the back of Lonan’s neck when he clasps it, feeling the pulse of Lonan’s heartbeat, even from all the way up here.

Lonan clutches the angel when Harrison pulls back, and he doesn’t let go, even when Harrison rises.

“I’m going to grab a pack of cigarettes,” Harrison says. “Is there a gas station around here?”

“Just up the road.” Lonan’s brows furrow.

“Do you want anything?”

“I don’t think so.”

Harrison nods. Then he steps back, away from the kitchen, and slips his shoes on, one by one, more carefully than he’s ever done before. He knows Lonan looks at him. He knows what’ll be in his eyes if he looks up—and so he doesn’t. Harrison checks his jacket pocket for his car keys, and when they jangle, he turns toward the door.

“How long?”

Lonan’s voice makes him jump.

“Pardon?”

“How long will you be gone?”

Harrison frowns. “I’m just grabbing a pack of cigarettes.”

So Harrison’s reaction to everything being white and gold is my reaction to modern decoration loool this is just CNF at this point:

Harrison buys the pack of cigarettes. And then the gum. And then he finds his mother.

She isn’t hard to locate. A quick question at the checkout counter, and he finds out the apartment complex near the public garden is only a fifteen-minute drive away.

It’s just as he pictures it. A white building, with a white lobby, the bricks white, the carpets white, the tables white. In little places, there are bits of gold, in place he doesn’t think gold should be—lining the keyboard the security guard types at, on the edges of every window so it’s only visible when the sun flashes.

And at last, here’s the final paragraph of the book!!! angst!!

His mother reads. Harrison watches. A father and son down below, who take turns walking their golden retriever. A food stand vendor that hands a stack of checked tissues to a mother wrangling four small children. A couple who take photos in front of a fountain, how he can almost hear the mechanical click of their camera from fifty feet up. Something stirs inside of him, at the thought of Lonan back in that golden apartment, and he only realizes what it is much later, when his mother is heating up something spiced and leftover in the microwave. The feeling like being buried alive and wanting to do it again just so someone can pull you out. A loneliness he sucks on until his mouth sores.

And there it is!! This book has been so much fun to share with y’all! Thanks for reading these updates and for all the love for this novel. I haven’t written anything for book two in a while, and am now feeling nostalgic to do so, so keep an eye out for more Moth Work related endeavors! For now this is the end!

Our Dirty Secrets

The pitter-patter of incoming rain loomed closer with every step Margharette took towards her cabin in the middle of the woods, nestled against a hill and overlooking the ocean. She could smell the damp soil every time the wind blew her way. After several drops had already stirred her hair, Marge finally made it through the front door, giving the moderately sized but singular area she called home a quick inspection and eventually locking the door behind her. Gloves were thrown on the small leather couch at her left, fabric dyed blue and gold, intricate geometric combinations hand stitched along each seam. About seven years ago, Margharette discovered she had a talent for fixing furniture and decorating it too. Ever since then, she has been building said talent. Through trial and error, she refined her skills and this had been her first completed project. One built from scratch and a personal touch among the art she collected.

Again the sound of rain interjected in her thoughts. This time it came from directly above as it fell and slid along the roof. With the sun disappearing into the horizon and the clouds rolling low in the sky, the home was as dark as it needed to be for humans to lose sight of obstacles along the way. This proved to be little challenge for Margharette who calmly evaded the small, round and high table three steps to the left. The buttons of her suit were undone, jacket tossed on the left corner of the bed. Five steps in and the woman turned to the right, left index finger licked before it was used to undo the knot of her tie. Before rising unto the elevated kitchen, she paused at her fourth stride and uncoiled the tie from her neck, letting it fall to the floor and listening for signs of life from the wall behind her. If Wilder was home, she'd hear the snoring. If she wasn't, Margharette knew she was alone with her thoughts.

The woman rose, using the single step along the divide and elevation that lead to the kitchen area. After making her way around the kitchen table, toes narrowly avoiding the legs of her chairs, Marge came to stand in front of the sink. The weight of whatever dream had been haunting her for the past couple of days slamming into her shoulders and chest like a brick wall. She gripped the edge of the sink and the counter with both hands in order to keep her body from collapsing in the wake of a torrent. Margharette screamed at the top of her lungs. From the dark and lifeless cabin in the woods came the roar of what could be mistaken for a wounded animal.

In the dark, cold home, a pipe broke. Water rushed from the sink with enough strength and volume to push Margharette across the room. She slammed into one of the walls, hand breaking the window but body helplessly pinned in place. The cabin flooded with unnatural haste, Marge soon finding herself with only the air already in her lungs available to keep her alive. It wasn't enough. Though she tried to swim her way out once the pressure had equalized, there were no windows or doors to be found. The light that barely filtered through from the surface was the only guide she could find in an otherwise cold and dark ocean deep. The only source of warmth there was to have was the growing burning that came from her lungs as they demanded more oxygen. Margharette gasped for air, only to succeed in taking in more water. The dim light shook violently, this being the result of body spasms, extremely close to succumbing.

When her eyes opened again, she stood in front of the same sink as before, only it was now daytime. A hand still gripped the edge of the counter, but the left was carrying a fresh cup of coffee. Gentle plumes of steam billowed from it's surface, the bitter aftertaste lingering in the tip of her tongue. Margharette also wore something more comfortable. A simple and over sized white shirt with a small hole along the right side hung over her upper thighs, bare toes wiggling on the rickety floorboards. A deep inhale brought the pleasing aroma of her drink back into play, sending a minute but definite shiver up her spine. Marge smiled, turning away from the kitchen and making her way out through the backdoor.

The gentle sway of the grass as the wind rolled along the hill tickled Marge's ankles and even her knees as she made her way across, not bothering to put on any shoes. The warmth of the earth itself was something she valued far higher than the fleeting passing of fancies or the comfort of friendly faces. No matter what, it would always be there -- or at least, that was how she saw it. Hair fluttered in much the same way as the greenery and flora carefully selected and planted all around her. Soon, her gaze met the matching hue in a deep, blue sea. Carefully, she took a seat along the incline where the roots died and the sand began, digging her feet into the latter. Across the expanse of the horizon her gaze traveled, another satisfying drink from her cup of coffee taken.

"Hello again, sweetheart." The gruff voice came from her left. Margharette recognized it's source in an instant, soon lowering the cup and turning to face the translucent image of her father. Though Marge looked mostly like her mother, height and body shape included, the same dark hair and fluid eyes mirrored that of the man now sitting beside her. "I'm about to do something stupid, aren't I?" The woman asked with a soft and respectful tone, shoulders slouching. It was another sip of coffee that kept Margharette from melting into the sand or trying to stick her head beneath it. The two watched the waves go by, clear and sunny skies the playground of gulls in the distance. "Yes. You are only human. This isn't the first, nor will it be the last. Thankfully, you've inherited a lot more from your mother than you care to admit." The man replied through a channel of tones and distortions. His words pulled on a string that struck a somber chord. She took another drink from her cup of coffee before leaning forward, knees bending as they rose. Eventually, she'd lean forward, coffee held over her upper arm. "How is Victoria?" Margharette murmured, hooded gaze following the movements of a bird in the distance. Father and specter rose from his spot, a few steps forward taken. Through him, Margharette watched the waves crash into rocks in the distance. However, there seemed to be little care towards this, the woman calmly drinking from her cup. "She's not with us anymore, Margharette -- the answer has not changed." It was with a smile that she responded to his answer. After getting to her feet as well, she began to make her way towards the shore, cup left along the incline. "May she rest forever." As the woman passed the ghost, there was a sudden change in wind. Silver and black glow swirled, caving their human formation and disappearing into the air. Marge pulled on her shirt, tossing it to the side and doing the same with her underwear soon after. A serene posture and expression settled with every step she took into the water -- her goal being to reach the rocks on the distance, around the bend of the earth.

Hands gripped on the edge of the counter and the sink as tightly as they had done in the beginning. It was nighttime -- the pitter patter of rain even louder than before. Margharette no longer had any of her work clothes on. She didn't have any at all. Water dripped from her hair, sometimes tickling the tip of her nose. Her hold only loosened when her hands began to tremble. It was with a deep breath and a few steps back that Marge began to pull on the reigns of discipline. What began as a routine of neck stretches slowly transformed into a sway with rhythm. The left shoulder gave a roll, followed by a twitch. In the darkness of her home, Margharette closed her eyes and imagined a light of her own. She focused on this single point, shedding away more nervous ticks here and there -- and then the deep exhale came. From head to toe, the woman's posture melted into a quietly confident one. Eyes opened to reveal the sharpness of her stare, one that fell on nothing and nobody. Head turned then, searching for a lamp that ought to be there. A half step towards it was taken, Margharette stepping on a broken piece of wood. It was then that she realized the kitchen table wasn't even there anymore. The wind whistled through the broken window not far away, sound penetrating the wound on her hand and making her painfully aware of it's existence. "Fuck me.." Margharette grumbled, head shaking before she quickly began to clean up before Wilder got a chance to see it.
