MIKA WAS BORN as the older twin to nozomi mai. what differs from mai’s timeline is that when renji killed their mother, he didn’t accidentally kill mika. he was able to escape with mika & mai, & he brought them back alongside his other 3 children. mika had 3 older siblings & one younger twin sister. the order of it goes ( oldest to youngest. ) : hinata [ +4 ], chiko & chikao [ +2 ], mika & mai [ 0 : to compare the others’ ages by. ]. it remains in this verse than none of his children ever figure out that he’s murdered all of their mother. they all just consider their mothers to not have wanted them for various reasons they can’t blame them for ( especially when connected to this man. ). their father obviously lied to them their whole lives & told them he loved them more than their mothers, but their mothers weren’t involved & they had biggest issues, so they didn’t consider much of it.

IN THEIR HOME, they had many arguments. those arguments would include most of the household, & many of their arguments were partly their father’s fault. while mai was the peacemaker & negotiator & mediator, mika was either extremely short & quiet or cutting & explosive with these arguments. earlier than in mai’s timeline, mai started being pulled into the arguments, & they’ve accuse her of taking their father’s side because mai didn’t pick a side. mika, when mai was treated as such, would self -- place herself against those who were accusing mai of this. this was a very tense atmosphere, & at this point, the arguments between all of them would shift into a physical fight with hinata & mika. they were both very strong personalities, & they weren’t afraid to use their actions to duke out their differences instead of their words. those nights, mai cried so much & their father would attempt to calm her in her hysteria. mika would lash out at him & repair the situation herself, which worked out fine most of the time. because of hinata’s hostility to mai, hinata & mika butted heads a lot.

& THEN TRAGEDY STRUCK. mika was 12 when chikao was the first to get sick. then it was hinata, & then chiko. then her. within 4 months, chiko died. he had only been sick for a month. 2 months after that, chikao died. she had been sick for 6 months. 9 months after that, after a roller coaster of her getting better & then getting sick again 3 times, hinata died. she’d been sick for 11 months. ( maybe i’ll do a timeline to explain that easier, but probably not since it’s a smaller fact. ). at this time, mika had been as for as long as hinata had been since they received their illness at relatively the same time. though, after hinata’s death & viewing certain behaviors & seeing their father perform certain rituals, she had reason to believe their father had been poisoning everyone but mai ( which she inferred was from his fondness of mai’s passiveness & docility. ). mika was 13 when she made a ‘ full blown ’ recovery. & this recovery consisted of her not eating the food or taking the medicine he was giving her to be able to poison her. mai had been out at the store when mika confronted her father, & he lashed out at her in his anger & disbelief that she unraveled his plan right before his very eyes.

& WHEN MAI CAME through the door, holding groceries & humming, their father grabbed her. & he, staring at mika, broke mai’s neck as he held her face down to deprive her of sight in her last moments. mika & he did physically fight each other, & he sliced mika’s neck as a way to slit her throat. & she stabbed him 5 times. he didn’t die in that moment & mika never knew if he died, but he got away. & the way he sliced her neck kept her alive & left a nasty scar when it healed. she brought herself to the hospital, & she left while in their overnight care ( easily. she was good at escaping. ). after that, she made a ghost out of herself & left : hinaki found mika when she was 21 & starving & fighting to survive. she was severely in need of something to anchor her down to living, & the route she was taking was killing her ( if fighting for money didn’t kill her, the way she lived & where she lived would have. ). hinaki found mika with briar, & that’s when hinaki & briar invited themselves into mika’s life.

HINAKI & BRIAR’S PRESENCES in her life made it better. to mika, they both became family to her, & mika’s physical & mental state became better ( more the former than the latter. ). when mika was 23, she had reached a state of emotional depth & anguish that’d became something concealed from hinaki & briar, as well as damaging to her own health. after a fight that’d ended in the heaviness of injuries fatal to her life, she’d come home. briar & hinaki were there ; no surprise, but the way she’d been injured shocked the two. in a panic, hinaki had accidentally turned mika to a timeline stitcher by touch ( the requirements : emotional tragedy --- fatal physical conditions --- the touch of a timeline bride. ). while hinaki didn’t mean to turn mika, to keep her alive, she & briar switched to another timeline with mika while mika had been unconscious as her body tried to heal itself. for the sole reason of mika not being in her home timeline & because her wounds were from her timeline’s natural events, she was able to keep alive & heal.

Back then, home and work were not typically one and the same. My parents worked 10-12 hours a day, sometimes on Sundays. The work they did was not like being in a tech start-up. There were no snacks or free meals. They owned a hand laundry in San Francisco and running it was exhausting work; skin burns were often the reward. It was hard physical labor. They started their business in 1954 in what is now known as Cole Valley, a San Francisco neighborhood about three miles west of Chinatown. Our living situation was very humble. The entire place was about 600 square feet. We had less living space than a two-car garage. I slept with my parents in a double bed, while my sister slept in a baby’s crib. We took baths on Saturdays in a blue-trimmed enamel pan-the same pan mom used to dye our customers’ clothes. Every evening, after closing, we dropped down sheets to cover the storefront windows and pulled down roller shades to cover the doors. How’s that for privacy? We lived with the sounds of a streetcar passing by our laundry every day.

Mom insisted on only eating Chinese food and our small refrigerator could only store a couple of days’ worth of groceries; going to Chinatown twice a week was a necessity. My dad went by himself on Wednesdays and on Sundays, we went as a family. The trip was a drive across town that took about 30 minutes. My dad drove a two-tone Pontiac Sedan from Carl to Clayton to Frederick to Masonic to Bush to Kearny to Pacific to Grant. We took those streets so often that they are coded in my memory, like a routine in a computer software program.

Grant Ave was our main shopping street for groceries. We did most of that shopping between Pacific and Broadway. At the North end of Grant Ave was the sausage shop. I loved the dried meats and the fat in the sausage, not to mention the BBQ pork. Mid-block there were two fresh chicken shops where you could select the chicken from a cage; a man would pull out the chicken, slit its throat, throw it into a garbage can, and then tell you to come back in a half-hour to pick it up. It was also the best place to buy fresh chicken wings and gizzards! Next door was a dried goods store that sold everything from canned goods to dried squid and 50 pound bags of rice. It was also where they sold my favorite jelly candy that came wrapped in rice paper and in two flavors, orange and banana. Banana was my favorite. On the corner of Grant and Pacific was a fresh fish store. It was always cold inside from all that ice to keep the fish on display fresh. I loved it because the window height of the fish tank was mounted perfectly for a little kid like me to watch them swim. Tommy’s Jewelry store was on the opposite corner where my mom took her watch for repairs and where she admired the gold and jade jewelry. Nearby was an electronics shop, Mee Shing, where they sold TV’s and Radios. Mom shopped for her Chinese opera records there. She listened to these operas during her long work hours of ironing laundry while my sister and I painfully endured the clanging sounds of the cymbals. Next to the electronics shop was Kaye’s Shoe store that carried Florsheim brand shoes in smaller shoe sizes to suit the Chinese foot. Does anyone remember the golden goose eggs in the windows? But what I wanted most, was to weigh myself on the weight machine sitting out in front by the entrance, where for a penny, I could get my weight printed on a ticket with a fortune on the back. Every Sunday, I begged my parents to let me weigh myself wondering when I would weigh 50 pounds. Across the street on Grant was a kitchen hardware store, Ginn Wall, that sold woks, wooden and plastic chopsticks, bowls, and more. It was also where they also sold the dreaded feather dusters with the bamboo stick handle - the ‘weapon’ of choice for Chinese families to mete out corporal punishment. I can attest to their painfulness.

The Mandarin Theater, later Sun Sing, was further south on the same block, and next to it was an alley. The alleys always lead to a building with single resident occupancy units, better known as SROs. Most of the alleys wafted of urine, but some had the smell of cooked foods-rice, chicken, vegetables-from the adjoining restaurants. Add in the sounds of children playing, laundry hanging on a line ruffling in the wind, the sounds of shuffling mahjong tiles, elderly men spitting, and you get a more complete picture of the alleys.

On the next block was a herb shop where my mom bought ingredients to make a ‘special’ soup. It was special all right, and as I remember it, the bitterness was so awful that I had to choke it down while my mom would say Ay-geet, which loosely translated means “to be well, be healthy.” Then at the corners of Washington and Grant were wooden trinket stands where my sister and I would eye the toys we couldn’t afford. We did buy the wax candies with liquid juice inside. Does anyone remember those? Further on Grant was the Eastern Bakery, which is known for their moon cakes, but I loved their cow ear snack, Gnow Gknee, which was shaped like a potato chip that had alternating bands, colored in tan and brown. My mom always bought a Sunday newspaper from the newsstand guy in a wooden shack on Jackson. Even though we subscribed to the Chinese Times, it only came six days a week.

The Buddhist church on Washington was under construction in the late 1950s. I recall going through the building during a Chinese New Year celebration and the street fairs that were held across the street in Portsmouth Square. I won a goldfish by tossing a ping pong ball into a bowl and the fish became our first pet. Other games at the bazaar were the metal horse races where you shot water guns to move the horses, throwing pointed metal darts at hanging balloons, and pitching coins onto a large board to try and land them on a small dot. I can still hear the band saw cutting the bone and the opening and closing of the walk-in freezer door. They sold ground pork to make Gee Knook Beng, a steamed pork patty cooked with salted fish on top, a peasant comfort food my parents brought over from their village. Everyone went to buy their oranges at Orangeland on the corner of Washington. My dad would drive up to the man, hand him a buck, and a brown paper bag of oranges was passed in through the window. Yup, that was how it was done.

Going to Chinatown was like going to a foreign land. My mom would have liked for my sister and me to have grown up in Chinatown. She wanted us to identify as Chinese, for us to retain our culture and heritage. However, I am glad we missed that boat of growing up in Chinatown. Our laundry was small and had similar conditions to any place in Chinatown. If we had grown up there, I believe my experiences would have been far less diverse. I might have missed being fully immersed in American culture. So what-if? I’ll never know, there is only what is. I do know I speak Chinglish. My hillbilly Toishanese is badass. As challenging as it was to only speak Toishanese to my parents, not growing up in Chinatown forced me to figure it out. I am enriched to be at ease with both American and Chinese cultures, and I am so thankful to be able to embrace both. And a shout out to the N-Judah streetcar - no noise is too loud for me to sleep through.

1. Choose The Right Paint

First, repair any damage (dings, dents, or scratches) if you’d like. Wood filler and a putty knife should do nicely. Follow the instructions that come with the wood filler. Then, clean the cabinets with TSP. Paint doesn’t stick well to dirty surfaces.

6. Take Apart Kitchen Cabinets

“Do we have to take apart our cabinets?” Lisa questions.

Taking them apart ensures you can do the best job possible. This means not missing any areas for the family to point out next time they come over (right, Lisa?)

Remove the doors and drawers. Label everything with painter’s tape and a pen so you know where it goes for reinstallation. This includes the screws and smaller parts. You can put these in labeled, sealable bags so they don’t end up lost.

“That is a great idea! I wish I’d thought of that sooner”, Robert reflects, “would have made my life so much easier.”

7. Sand Cabinets Smooth & Even

Use medium-grit sandpaper (150 grit or so).

Sanding helps the paint stick to the surface, well, as long as you clean up the dust afterward. Sandpaper is great because you can fold it up to reach in corners and other detail areas.

It’s finally time to start using the painting tools.

8. Prime Kitchen Cabinets

But it isn’t time to paint just yet.

“Do we even need to prime?” Lisa asks. “If we want a great, longer lasting paint job then yes.” Robert replies. Primer helps paint bond to the surface even more tightly. This means it will be a longer period of time before it needs painting again, which can save time, money, and effort in the long run.

Start at the back of the cabinets and work forward using even strokes. Make sure your final stroke finishes back into the wet primer (all the pro painters do this.) After finishing, take your now dry roller and “lay off” the primer, i.e. remove any buildup by collecting it on the dry roller.

“Now we can finally start painting!” exclaims Lisa.

9. Paint Doors & Drawers

Start by painting the backs of the doors and letting them dry. As they do, paint the fronts (and only the fronts) of the drawers. Painting the sides and such can cause them to stick to the rollers.

Then paint the fronts and let them dry. After the first coat completely dries add on your second coat and let it dry.

Then you can paint the actual cabinet parts.

10. How To Paint Kitchen Cabinets (The Actual Painting Part)

Start by painting the frames. Brushes are ideal for detail areas and mini rollers for the larger ones. Use even strokes, always finishing back into the wet paint. Then move to the backs of the cabinets and paint from the top down. Take your now dry roller and roll it over the paint to even it out so there aren’t any lumpy areas. Let it dry completely .

11. Reassemble Kitchen Cabinets

“This is like putting together a puzzle. Good thing we like puzzles, right Robbie?” Lisa teases. Robert’s never been great with puzzles.

Follow the labels you made at the beginning and put everything back where it should be. Then you can step back and admire your handiwork.

A violent gang of youths who bashed and robbed teenagers in Joondalup last month are wanted by police.

Police say the group of 10 to 15 males targeted young people on two separate occasions the suburb on the Queen’s Birthday long weekend.

The group are alleged to have attacked two boys aged 13 and 14 outside a takeaway food store on Joondalup Drive on September 24, about 6.30pm.

One of the boys was thrown to the ground and kicked before his shoes and phone were stolen.

In another incident up to an hour later, the group surrounded a 17-year-old boy and 23-year-old woman as they sat on a kerb outside a takeaway food store on Dwyer Turn.

The group pushed and kicked the boy before hitting him on the head with a glass bottle, causing injuries which required stitches. They gang also stole the woman’s purse.

Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with two aggravated robbery in relation to the earlier incident. He is due to appear in Joondalup Children’s Court on October 17.

Police have urged anyone with information about the other people in the gang to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Police hunting thieves

Police are hunting two men who ram-raided four businesses including a lolly shop during a half hour crime spree in Landsdale.

The men were caught on at least six different security cameras — because one of the businesses they hit was a security company.

Extraordinary footage shows the moment a stolen ute ploughs into the complex on Fallon Road in Landsdale, making light work of the security fence, just after midday.

It was driven straight through a roller door before the men realise there's nothing inside and they back out.

They then smash into another door and get out.

The two men can then be seen running to OnTap Plumbing where they kick their way through the glass doors.

They were only inside for eight seconds but it was long enough for them to find the keys to one of the business’ utes.

“It’s a bit strange because first of all the time of the morning that it happened,” Tony Cook from SMS Security said.

“You’d expect people to be doing this in the middle of the night but I think crime in Perth is just getting worse and worse.”

Police say the men targeted two other locations nearby first: an empty office space on Christable Way and a lolly warehouse.

The stolen ute was trashed and later dumped.

The one they got away with won't be hard to miss — it's a white hilux- with bright green On Tap Plumbing branding.

Meanwhile the West Australian Police in recent NEWS has been itching to be granted TOTAL control and TOTAL use of their guns in dealing with 'terrorists'.

Big deal.

The CRIMINALS have total control over everything. The CRIMINALS are armed and do whatever they want. The CRIMINALS do whatever crime they want. The CRIMINALS steal LOTS of guns from decent people and roam around with them. The Police apparently STILL haven't located that hoard of MANY pistols (firearms) that was stolen from a gun store not so long ago in Western Australia. (saving them up for later incidents?)

Meanwhile, the West Australian Police are now actively demanding the rights to be legally and politically granted to them to shoot-to-kill on-the-spot anyone they deem is a threat andor is deemed a 'terorist'.

And the NEWS is trotting out all manner of shit to back all this up....past incidents where the Australian Police themselves were found to be at fault and the cause of deaths...but no, that's okay, IF only they had blanket control over killing anyone at anytime they liked then they could have 'saved' everyones lives......

You know, they ALREADY have a lot of those total controls right now, but they want MORE. SO they can act instantly and without any retraints or compliances.

And strange how NEWS of things like, in a nearby area, an aboriginal with a shotgun in his hands, in a carpark getting out of a parked car who was then fired upon by Police and killed, it's strange how that NEWS swiftly dies off and is forgotten....

Maybe a volcano erupting will take everyones minds off things on schedule......or maybe the volcano can be put off for awhile until other events can be played out in the manipulative NEWS......

Maybe a tidal wave?

I wonder how long until el Presidente Monsieur Wig Madman is tragically assassinated or goes mad to make way for the next pre-planned el Presidente to take over who is even worse?
