The Breach Brings The Heat With Great Practical Effects
Tumblr media
The Breach is the new film from Rodrigo Gudino based on Nick Cutter's story of the same name.
The film was produced by Raven Banner and Hangar 18.
The film is about a police chief who was set to retire but was dragged into an ongoing mystery with horrifying results.
The Breach showed you can do a lot with a smaller budget. A little on the slower side, the film has a lot going for it. The score and music were top notch. Done by legendary guitarist Slash.
The performances were all fine for this type of movie but it was definitely shot very well and the production used a lot of practical effects to really sell the story and it worked out in their favor.
Many movies with this sized budget and story would most likely not use practical horror effects but they did it in this one and it was phenomenal.
Overall, the story is fresh and compelling and the practical effects were great. The acting was fine and the score was great. This is a smaller budget horror you should check out!

Uncovering Curiosities: Rodrigo Gudiño’s THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ROSALIND LEIGH
Uncovering Curiosities: Rodrigo Gudiño’s THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ROSALIND LEIGH
Boy, does 2012’s The Last Will And Testament Of Rosalind Leigh almost get things right. Writer/director Rodrigo Gudiño’s film is beautifully shot, it’s creepily atmospheric and it doesn’t pander to the youth market. Though it’s just a little…boring. Now, I love a slow paced movie as much as the next man (probably more than the next man), but Rosalind Leigh becomes very repetitive, as we get…

The Facts in the Case of Mister Hollow | 2008 | dir. Rodrigo Gudiño and Vincent Marcone | Length: 6:09
A gothic horror narrative in which the audience is tasked with uncovering the circumstances which have led to the scene shown. The final image is shown to the audience after zooming in upon one of the characters, making it the missing piece of evidence needed and placing emphasis upon the film's paranormal and supernatural elements.

The Last Will And Testament Of Rosalind Leigh
Tumblr media
The Last Will And Testament Of Rosalind Leigh is a very low-budget dramatic haunted house short story stretched out into a feature. Our antagonist is Aaron Poole as Leon Leigh. He's come to his mother's house, which he's just inherited. The films begins completely focusing on the atmosphere. The entire film takes place inside the house, in which you are literally surrounded by creepy, old religious artifacts.
The story slowly begins to get interesting but everything leads to dead ends and in the end, everything becomes pointless anyway. It almost makes you wonder if you've just been tricked into watching a student film. While the religious cult themes worked and the set design was brilliant, everything else seems held back by budget restraints or care. The screenplay, if there was one, was terrible but the director shows an eye for shot composition.

May 9th as a part of the Raven Banner Entertainment & Cineplex presented Sinister Cinema, Rodrigo Gudiño's beautiful The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh will be playing in theatres across Canada. This was one of my favorite films that I had the pleasure of seeing on the festival circuit last year and it's easily one of the best horror films I've seen in the last few years. The genre needs more original voices telling their own stories. I don't want to be greedy, but please share this, grab as many people as you can and see this in the theatre, prove that horror like this does have an audience in the theatres.  In case I was subtle in any way, this film is fucking awesome. Please share this photo on your wall and be a part of supporting this film.
