TW // Injury, drugs
Oz came into the world silent as the grave - so quiet that his parents thought something was wrong with him. A middle child of five, Oz was the odd one out - he was just a little different. His siblings were loud and outgoing, and Oz was a quieter instigator.
His parents just thought he was socially awkward and didn’t ‘get it’. But Oz did- he was incredibly intelligent, quick as a whip. Perhaps he didn’t prefer to start the conversation - but he knew how to end it. He seemed to just prefer a little bit of anarchy- but his smarts were never in question. He studied multiple sciences at an Advanced level in high school and majoring in bio-chem in college, going on to get his graduate degree as well. Through it all, he had supportive parents, siblings who cheered him on and went about their lives, and an occasional distant friend or roommate.
And yet, Oz found himself craving something more adventurous. It started with little ways he could get a thrill. He looked so upright, so perfectly unassuming. The quiet little man never seemed like a threat, which was perfect for getting into trouble. While working at a national lab in New York, he found himself pocketing important chemicals and extra medication - skimming materials off the top when he could. Machines break all the time after all, and the labs always had so much money to replace just about anything… he could sell them, see how much he could get away with.
Eventually Oz was getting in with the wrong crowd. And being a criminal didn't pay in the end. His clean, quick, and silent dealing still didn't work out- and though he never got caught by the police, he was caught by someone worse - a rival organization.
Oz was nearly killed. Suffering a lumbar spinal cord injury, Oz was stuck in the hospital for months. He had lost the use of his legs at first, and required intense rehabilitation to even walk with forearm crutches or push himself in a wheelchair. But more importantly to Oz, he didn’t feel that he could continue his old job. His hands unsteady and his body having gone through a traumatic event, Oz decided to hang up his coat of crime and move away from the shitty, dark work he'd been doing for so long.
After moving to Ashmore a few years ago, he took on a new role. His apathetic and gravelly voice seemed perfect for radio, and as a sarcastic host for a combination music-and-advice station, Oz fit in perfectly. He misses a lot about his old job- the thrill and the adrenaline rush. But he also feels guilt for the shit he's done in the past.

Waterproof Shoes for Men: Stay Dry, Comfortable, and Stylish in Any Weather
Rain, snow, or puddles—no one likes wet feet. Whether you're commuting to work, hiking a trail, or just running errands, waterproof shoes for men are a game-changer. They keep your feet dry, prevent blisters, and even help avoid that unpleasant squishy feeling when you step in a surprise puddle.
But with so many options out there, how do you choose the right pair? Don’t worry—we’ve got you covered. In this guide, we’ll break down:
✅ Why waterproof shoes are worth it ✅ Different types of waterproof shoes (casual, work boots, sneakers, hiking) ✅ Key features to look for ✅ Top recommendations for every need
Let’s dive in!
Why Should You Invest in Waterproof Shoes?
Wet feet aren’t just uncomfortable—they can lead to:
Cold feet (which can make your whole body feel chilly)
Blisters and irritation (from damp socks rubbing against skin)
Foot odor (bacteria thrive in moist environments)
Ruined shoes (water damage can break down materials faster)
A good pair of waterproof shoes solves all these problems while keeping you comfortable in any weather.
Types of Waterproof Shoes for Men
Not all waterproof shoes are the same. Here’s a quick breakdown of the best options for different needs:
1. Waterproof Sneakers (Everyday Wear)

Key Features to Look for in Waterproof Shoes
Not all "waterproof" shoes are created equal. Here’s what really matters:
🔹 Material: Look for GORE-TEX, eVent, or sealed leather—these block water while allowing breathability. 🔹 Seam-Sealed Construction: Prevents water from sneaking in through stitching. 🔹 Traction: A grippy outsole (like Vibram) helps prevent slips on wet surfaces. 🔹 Comfort: Cushioned insoles and good arch support make a big difference for all-day wear. 🔹 Breathability: Avoid shoes that trap sweat—look for mesh linings or moisture-wicking tech.
Top Picks: Best Waterproof Shoes for Men

Clean them regularly (use a damp cloth and mild soap).
Reapply waterproofing spray (especially for leather or suede).
Dry them properly—never use direct heat (stuff with newspaper instead).
Rotate your shoes to prevent excessive wear.
Final Verdict: Are Waterproof Shoes Worth It?
Absolutely! If you live in a rainy or snowy climate, work outdoors, or just hate soggy socks, a good pair of waterproof shoes is a must. They’ll keep your feet dry, comfortable, and protected—whether you’re hiking, working, or just walking the dog.

‘Calls The Deep,’ explores the relationship between our young human protagonist, Charlotte, and a mysterious visitor from the deep, seeking refuge after a violent storm. Set in 1920s New England, this novella is entrenched in Lovecraft Country and lore, set prior to the events of ‘The Shadow over Innsmouth’ (though no prior reading of Lovecraft’s works is necessary).
Calls The Deep // Chapter Two
The trek from the cottage down the bay to Rockport took barely forty minutes should Charlotte decide to indulge in more than her usual degree of sightseeing. Most of the way took her along dirt roads lined with grassy fields and rows of trees coming into their spring-time visage.
Rockport itself was of a quaint possession but as the setting of many of Charlotte’s childhood escapes, it held a treasured place in her heart. Still now as an adult it seemed to offer much of that New England charm that she so adored.
Fields turn to farm houses, then to bungalows and townhomes. Horse and carriage was still most common here, but that was not to say there were not quite a few motorcars around town too.
Her first stop was to be the general store, a two-story colonial-style building with pale blue weatherboard and white trim around its muntin windows, doors, and porch.
Pate was a round, bulging man with squint glasses and thinning hair. He sat, as he always did, behind the mechanical register, peering down over his glasses as he tallied receipts.
“Mr. Pate,” said Charlotte as she stepped inside, the little, brass bell over the door ringing. The man sputtered and looked up, relaxing immeasurably when he realised who had come by.
“Miss Charlotte,” he said in reply. “How is your little cottage faring you?”
Charlotte walked down the first aisle then, selecting from the display the canned and tinned goods she had since run out of.
“The cottage is perfect as always,” she replied across the store, turning next to the dry goods. “I’m fixing up the fences now, and Jack says he knows someone who’ll patch the leaks in the roof for me for cheap.”
“Ah, Jack is a helpful fellow, when he likes you well enough,” Pate mused, continuing his tallies as Charlotte browses. “Say, the two of you are getting close these days.”
Charlotte’s hand hesitated then as she made to reach for one of the jams to inspect. “He… is a good friend. But I don’t know if I’d consider him any more than that.”
Pate hummed perceptively but did not say another word.
Jack was a handsome man, anyone with eyes could tell you that. He was whip-smart and a real good businessman–his mentor, old Mr. Abrams, who was without any children of his own, was certainly grooming him to take over his business once he was gone. He had been the very first of the townsfolk here to make an effort when she first moved here some six months ago, and he alone made the trek up the hill to see her without her asking him to. He was a good man by anyone's standards, so she wondered why it took other people’s prompting for her to ever think about him as more than a good friend.
Groceries in her basket, she approached the counter, setting them up for Pate to count.
“That will be a dollar fifty five,” he said finally, fat fingers clunking at the keys of the register. She dug a half dollar, four quarters, and a nickel from her dress pocket and slid them across the counter, taking her basket and slinging it over her arm. “Thank you kindly, little lady.”
“Thank you, Pate,” she said, and continued on her morning errands.
Jack would find her in her usual haunt then. Hefford’s Used and Antique Bookstore was Charlotte’s second favourite place to be nowadays–second only, of course, to her cottage on Halibut Point.
She had her head already buried in a book, perusing the pages as she ascertained whether or not it might interest her, when Jack joins her down the cramped bookshop aisle.
“Good book?”
Charlotte jumped, hand going to her heart. “Jack, for the love of all that is holy.”
He grinned. “Walk with me?” He asked and offered her his arm. She rolled her eyes, but took his arm, slipping the book back into its place. As the pair left, they gave a polite wave to the shopkeeper and stepped out onto the main street, intent to follow it down until the town met the ocean.
“You know, one of these days I’ll get cross at you and tell Mr. Abrams you skip work all the time to come see me,” Charlotte said. Jack pursed his lips. “What, you doubt I would?”
He laughed. “No, I don’t doubt you would. I doubt you could ever get cross at me that bad, though.”
Charlotte shared his laughter then. “Hm, I suppose that’s true. All those gossiping girls must be right, must be that stupid smile of yours,” she teased.
Jack snorted amusedly. “Since when did you go about listening to what gossiping girls say?”
“Just because I don’t listen to them doesn’t mean I don’t hear them,” she informed him.
“Oh is that so? And what do the gossiping girls have to say about me, then?”
“Something about that smile… or that stupid way you tip your hat…” Charlotte reached in that moment to prod the brim of his hat, jostling it from its spot atop his head.
“Hey!” He yelped, brushing back his hair and fixing his hat. “Ladies love that one.”
Charlotte laughed. “You keep telling yourself that.”
The pair had made it now to where the cobbled pier tapered off into sandy beach. Charlotte stopped to remove her shoes, clutching them in the arm not still entwined with Jack’s own. The bustle of the town grew quieter here, replaced instead by the rushing of wind in the beach grass and the constant ebbing of the waves.
“How did your trip up to Newburyport go anyhow?” She asked. “Innsmouthers not give you any trouble?”
Jack grimaced a touch, picking up a smooth stone off the beach and tossing it into the ocean with a flick of his wrist. “No, no trouble. They’re an ugly bunch but they’re not stupid, I don’t think.”
“The way people talk about them you’d think they must be.”
One of the first things one would learn should they have any desire to spend time around those parts was the seemingly universal distaste for those Innsmouthers. Having never met one before herself, Charlotte had to wonder where it all was coming from.
“Well there’s sure to be a lot of inbreeding or the likes going on up there,” said Jack, before he took up another stone and hurtled it too into the waves. “So you’d imagine it’d dumb them down after a few generations. But I think for the most part it's just the bad looks that’s gotten them trouble.”
“Inbreeding would be a much more rational an explanation than what some of the folk here say,” Charlotte said. Her gaze wandered, spotting a conch shell amongst the debris washed up on the shore.
Jack sighed. “Don’t you go listening to old wives tales,” he said. Charlotte reached for the conch and handed it to him. “There’s too much of that nonsense talk that goes around in these parts for any of it to be true. Besides, it's not our place to speculate about how other people live their lives.” Jack threw the conch.
Charlotte was quiet for a moment, watching as it disappeared into the foam, before she conceded: “You are right there.”
Jack was called back to work before long. Charlotte finished her groceries with the addition of meat, eggs, and milk, and resisted the urge to pick up where she had left off at Hefford’s. Instead she made the walk back up the hill to Halibut Point.
The cottage, which had once been her family’s quaint summer getaway, was a picturesque image. She truthfully did not think she would ever get sick of seeing it–white weatherboard and black roof shingles, and a single brick chimney rising from the near top. Just the sight of it brought a smile to her lips.
Charlotte deposited her basket just for the moment on the wood pile by the door, leaning it back so it would not risk tipping over. She drew her key from her dress pocket and inserted it in the lock. It took a moment to budge–the thing old and worn by the sea air and likely in need of replacement–but after a moment of fiddling the door is swung open. She stepped in, wiping her shoes on the mat before taking off her coat. She moved to put her key down in its spot over the fireplace, so as to not misplace it, but before she had even the chance to return to the front door to her basket, there came a shattering clatter– the unmistakable sound of a basket of goods hitting the ground and a bottle of milk shattering.
Charlotte paused for a moment. She could clearly recall setting the basket well back on the logs, adjusting it to lean so none of its contents might cause it to become unbalanced and tip over. She stepped back outside and her hands came to rest on her hips in dismay. Her basket had indeed tipped over, spilling cans and tins and paper bags, most of which were now damp with spilt milk. With not much to do but sigh, she went about cleaning the mess and salvaging what remained unspoiled by milk and sandy earth.

I get reform makes people mad, but explain the poo
A New Jersey township is standing behind a police chief accused of defecating on floors and attempting to drug coworkers, insisting overtime reform led to disgruntled officers. North Bergen officials said Thursday the allegations against Police Chief Robert Farley had been referred to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office for review and subsequently sent to the New Jersey State Attorney General's Office. "The township will respect the outcome of that investigation, and at this point none of these allegations have been proven to be true," township officials said in a statement to Newsweek.***

NEW YORK – Luigi Mangione, the suspect accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson from behind in New York City last year, allegedly received a "heart-shaped" note from a supporter smuggled inside a pair of socks included in a change of clothes his defense team brought to court for his hearing, according to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office. The 26-year-old former Ivy Leaguer showed up shackled, wearing khaki pants, Rockport penny loafers and a green sweater under a bulletproof vest in a wink at supporters, who urged one another to wear green in reference to the character Luigi from Nintendo's "Super Mario" franchise. To spare him from appearing in a jail jumpsuit, Mangione's defense allegedly gave a bag of clothes to Major Mike McKee, a New York State Court officer who was overseeing inmate transport, according to prosecutors. Investigator Sgt. Louis Capolupo conducted a search before giving the items to the defendant.***

The back and forth comes as prosecutors are asking the court to deny Mangione's request to have a laptop in his jail cell – which they say is an unnecessary privilege – and additional discovery materials.*** Mangione had nearly $8,000 in cash on him when police arrested him, two Faraday bags, which can be used to block phone signals, multiple hard drives and a laptop, three wallets, an iPhone, "33 miscellaneous pills" and other items. Police recovered another phone near the crime scene and DNA evidence on discarded food packaging.*** Altoona police allegedly captured him with the suspected murder weapon, a fake ID and a manifesto slamming health insurers.

What a difference an election makes
Protecting the Second Amendment rights of ordinary, law-abiding Americans is a high priority for this Administration. As part of a broader review of restrictive firearms-related laws in California and other States, the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division today announced an investigation into the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to determine whether it is engaging in a pattern or practice of depriving ordinary, law-abiding Californians of their Second Amendment rights. A recent federal court decision found that “the law and facts [we]re clearly in … favor” of two private plaintiffs who challenged the lengthy eighteen-month delays that the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department had imposed when processing their concealed handgun license applications. And the Civil Rights Division has reason to believe that those two plaintiffs are not the only residents of Los Angeles County experiencing similarly long delays that are unduly burdening, or effectively denying, the Second Amendment rights of the people of Los Angeles.***

Monster under the bed?
A man in Kansas was booked into jail on aggravated kidnapping and other charges after a child found him hiding underneath a bed in their home on Monday, police said. The Barton County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. at a home just outside of Great Bend, Kansas, when a babysitter was putting children to bed. When one child told the babysitter there was a "monster" under their bed, the nanny found a 27-year-old man curled up under the mattress. Martin Villalobos Jr. was allegedly found under the bed and immediately began fighting the babysitter, which led to the child being knocked over. "When the victim attempted to show the child there was nothing under the bed, she came face-to-face with a male suspect who was hiding there. An altercation ensued with the babysitter and one child was knocked over in the struggle. The suspect then fled the scene before deputies arrived," the Barton County Sheriff's Office wrote in Facebook post.***

$1.2M, who'll notice?
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Thieves took eight Corvettes from the lot of a Kentucky automobile plant where the legendary muscle car is built, but officers recovered the vehicles and made an arrest, police said. The cars were taken from the GM Bowling Green Assembly plant in southern Kentucky, the home of the Chevrolet Corvette since the early 1980s. The eight cars were valued at $1.2 million, police said. Police said the thieves cut a fence at the plant to get the cars out. A man later arrested and charged with the theft of three cars said while being booked into jail that if he “would have made it back to Michigan, I would have been paid big,” according to a police report. The first car was located Saturday when a woman at an apartment complex in Bowling Green called police to say she saw a man park a new Corvette with stickers on it at the complex and then walk away.***

Obsession is a terrible thing
The Boulder County [Colorado] chapter of the NAACP last week announced its decision to shut down, citing opposition from the city of Boulder and friction with the national NAACP.***
Tensions between NAACP Boulder County and the city have been growing since the branch called for Boulder police Chief Stephen Redfearn — a deputy chief at the time — and then-Chief Maris Herold to resign in 2023. NAACP Boulder County called for Redfearn’s resignation based on his time serving in the Aurora Police Department amid the death of Elijah McClain in 2019. The branch criticized Redfearn for his conduct as a captain on duty on the night when McClain encountered police, an incident that led to his death.***
Redfearn had nothing to do with the death.
The chapter’s news release, dated Friday, said the national NAACP issued cease-and-desist letters, demanding that NAACP Boulder County stop its “unsubstantiated and inflammatory statements” toward Redfearn, the Boulder Police Department and Rivera-Vandermyde.***
the city elaborated on the July 2024 mediation attempt. “During that mediation, despite signed agreements to keep the conversation confidential, a board member secretly recorded the session and then threatened to release it publicly if City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde chose to promote Stephen Redfearn as Boulder’s police chief,” the statement read. “It was this unethical behavior, not any rejection of the chapter’s right to critique government, that led to this conflict.”***

Fair point, but our ground rule is that which is not prohibited is permitted
[Author's kids are]  living a wonderfully retro, ’90s-style childhood — one that feels increasingly endangered by helicopter parenting and overzealous legal authorities who seem to have forgotten their own childhoods. Just 10 years ago in my county, Danielle and Alexander Meitiv were actually accused, even charged, with neglect for letting their children do exactly what mine do every day: walk around unsupervised in broad daylight. The only thing that scares me about letting my daughter have this degree of freedom is that some busybody might call the police and that the law enforcement responding to the call might feel similar to the ones who harassed the Meitiv family a decade ago. Thankfully, that anti-freedom attitude is starting to change, largely thanks to the work of Lenore Skenazy and her organization Let Grow. Lawmakers are slowly waking up to the idea that protecting families sometimes means stepping back, not in. On her site, Skenazy recently shared this: “Just a few months after Georgia mom Brittany Patterson was arrested for not knowing her 10-year-old son had walked to the store alone, her state passed a Reasonable Childhood Independence law. It now goes to the governor. The bill clarifies that ‘neglect’ only applies when a child is put in serious, obvious danger — not simply when they’re out of sight.”***
The problem here isn't a lack of laws, it's a lack of common sense on the part of law enforcement, social workers, and prosecutors. Maybe a law that fired police, social workers, and prosecutors who tried this crap would work better.

Interesting how they caught him
An Alaska man pleaded guilty in federal court [Mon, 31mar25] to producing child sexual abuse material (CSAM). According to court documents, William Steadman, 35, of Juneau, a registered sex offender, enticed a young boy to engage in sexually explicit conduct, which Steadman recorded and posted on the dark web. After the CSAM was posted, law enforcement began working to determine who had created and posted the images. Even though Steadman attempted to hide his identify from law enforcement by using the dark web, a cryptocurrency payment for additional CSAM and thorough analysis of online statements tied to his alias led to his identification and arrest. A search of Steadman’s residence led to the discovery of over 4,000 images and videos of CSAM on his devices.***

These people could use a moral compass
One minute. That’s how long it took the first donation to hit the legal support fund for Luigi Mangione after the Department of Justice said it is seeking the death penalty in his case. Mangione is charged with murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson on a Manhattan street last December. But his fans, who follow every move in his case on the internet, consider the 26-year-old a progressive folk hero who is waging a righteous war against a corrupt capitalist system. One hour after the death penalty news was announced on April 1, more than 400 fans had donated over $12,000 to the GiveSendGo for Mangione’s legal defense fund. “Absolutely appalled and disgusted that the Dept of ‘Justice’ are seeking the death penalty,” wrote the first anonymous user to comment on the news that Attorney General Pam Bondi is pursuing the death penalty against Mangione. Rallying behind Mangione with a $10 donation, the user said: “Your strength, dignity, and courage are an inspiration, and we are behind you. We will never stop fighting. Sorry I can’t give more today but I will continue to donate as and when I can. Until you are free.”*** Though most donors contributed $30 or less, their notes were full of outrage. Some posted heart emojis in green—a reference to the character Luigi in the Super Mario Bros. video game, who wears the color—which has become a symbol of the Mangione movement. One donor identified themselves as “Billie” and stated that they work in healthcare, where they’re “watching people die every single day because of ‘insurance.’ ” Of Magione’s potential fate, they wrote: “Unbelievable. . . the death penalty??!!!”*** “It’s actually so stupid,” posted a user called “Camus.” “They’re going to turn him into a martyr and make people even more angry.” Yet another agreed: “This only makes us stronger, tougher, more passionate.”

$3,500 for calling Caitlyn Bruce?
4 lunkheads in Colorado's legislature have introduced HOUSE BILL 25-1312 which makes it "UNLAWFUL TO, WITH SPECIFIC INTENT TO DISCRIMINATE, PUBLISH MATERIALS THAT DEADNAME OR MISGENDER AN INDIVIDUAL" If passed, C.R.S. § 24-34-602 authorizes a $3,500 penalty for every time you Caitlyn Jenner "Bruce."
They must be thinking of the Colorado exception to the 1st Amendment.

Ok, Groomer
A coach for a Colorado youth ski team was charged with sexually assaulting a preteen skier during a team trip to New Mexico in March, court records show. Jared Hedges, 48, was arrested March 21 at Taos Ski Valley and charged with two felonies after the boy told authorities Hedges had sexually assaulted him. Hedges was a coach for Team Summit Colorado, a youth ski club at Copper Mountain that focuses on developing young athletes. He did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday. Hedges served as head coach for the team’s alpine racing program for skiers under 14. He is no longer a coach for the club, executive director CB Bechtel said in a statement posted on the club’s website Thursday.*** The boy, whom The Denver Post is not identifying, said Hedges groped and assaulted him after the boy laid down to sleep at one of two cabins the team was staying in during the trip to Taos in northern New Mexico. The boy, crying, woke up another child and called his mother immediately after the assault, according to a statement of probable cause. Other children told deputies with the Taos County Sheriff’s Office that Hedges had been staying in a lower area of the cabin with three children at the time of the incident. When the boy called his mother, Hedges began to pack up his own belongings, according to the statement of probable cause.*** Jordan said Monday that the family believes Hedges “groomed” the boy for some time before the assault, and said there were prior instances of inappropriate behavior that the boy didn’t fully understand before the assault, which was an escalation.***

That escalated quickly
The Biden administration indicted NYC Mayor Eric Adams in 2024 shortly after he publicly protested the overwhelming influx of illegal aliens. Adams allegedly took benefits from Turkey like flight upgrades. Allegedly, he took official actions in favor of Turkey. It's not clear that he was in a position to take any official action at the times alleged. The case was United States v. Adams, 24-cr-556 (S.D.N.Y.)
U.S. District Judge Ho dismissed the indictment with prejudice yesterday. In an order that appears written for easy excerpting by the press, he wrote
On February 14, 2025, the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) filed a motion seeking to dismiss without prejudice the Indictment against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, pursuant to Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure 48(a).1 ECF No. 122 (the “Rule 48(a) Motion”). DOJ’s Motion states that dismissal of this case is justified for several reasons, including because “continuing these proceedings would interfere with” the Mayor’s ability to govern, thereby threatening “federal immigration initiatives and policies.” Id. ¶ 6. A critical feature of DOJ’s Motion is that it seeks dismissal without prejudice—that is, DOJ seeks to abandon its prosecution of Mayor Adams at this time, while reserving the right to reinitiate the case in the future. DOJ does not seek to end this case once and for all. Rather, its request, if granted, would leave Mayor Adams under the specter of reindictment at essentially any time, and for essentially any reason. The Court declines, in its limited discretion under Rule 48(a), to endorse that outcome. Instead, it dismisses this case with prejudice—meaning that the Government may not bring the charges in the Indictment against Mayor Adams in the future. In light of DOJ’s rationales, dismissing the case without prejudice would create the unavoidable perception that the Mayor’s freedom depends on his ability to carry out the immigration enforcement priorities of the administration, and that he might be more beholden to the demands of the federal government than to the wishes of his own constituents. That appearance is inevitable, and it counsels in favor of dismissal with prejudice. Notably, Mayor Adams has filed his own motion seeking dismissal with prejudice on other grounds, and DOJ has not opposed his motion, effectively waiving any objection to permanent dismissal of this case. The parties offer the Court no basis to dismiss this case in a manner that would allow DOJ to reinitiate it in the future, and the Court declines to do so.***

Plans to kill Supreme Court justices
CV NEWS FEED // The California man who attempted to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2022, motivated by the Court’s anticipated pro-life ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson is set to plead guilty, according to a letter signed by his legal team Wednesday. Nicholas Roske, 29, was arrested outside Kavanaugh’s Maryland home in the early morning of June 8, 2022. He was armed with a Glock pistol, zip ties, duct tape, and other weapons. Roske later admitted he intended to kill Kavanaugh to block the Supreme Court’s pro-life majority. *** In a similar case, Neal Sidhwaney, a 43-year-old man from Florida, pled guilty in December 2023 to threatening the life of Chief Justice John Roberts, another member of the Court’s pro-life majority.  As part of Wednesday’s filing, Roske submitted a signed letter acknowledging that he traveled to Washington, D.C., with the intent to kill Kavanaugh and that prosecutors could prove his intent “beyond a reasonable doubt.” Roske is expected to formally enter his guilty plea next week and faces a potential life sentence.

The modest origins of the Maine Lobster Festival and its history
Seventy years ago – in March, 1947 – a group of townspeople and summer visitors in the Camden-Rockport area got to talking about old times. The traumatic Second World War was over, and a number of citizens felt the need to bring some fun back into their lives with a new summer event – hopefully, one that would become an annual tradition. Looking locally for inspiration, they recognized the…

Joshua Turner
Joshua Hare Turner, the seasoned fisherman and dedicated boat captain, has spent his life navigating the waters of both literal and metaphorical seas. Born on June 12, 1965, in the coastal town of Rockport, Massachusetts, his life has been defined by the ebb and flow of the ocean, and the challenges and triumphs that come with it. This is the story of a man who found his calling on the water, built a life around it, and became a respected figure in the maritime world. Growing up in a coastal community, Joshua was exposed to the ocean's allure from a young age. He spent his childhood by the shore, fishing with his father, learning the ways of the sea, and hearing tales of adventurous voyages. His father, Samuel Turner, was a respected fisherman, and it was under his tutelage that Joshua honed his maritime skills. These formative years instilled in him a deep love and respect for the ocean, its creatures, and the age-old art of fishing. Setting Sail: At the age of 18, Joshua set out on his own, buying his first small fishing boat, the "Seafarer." With a heart full of dreams and a head full of practical knowledge, he began his career as a commercial fisherman. The early years were tough, filled with long and grueling days, but his determination and unwavering commitment to his craft began to pay off. Over the years, Joshua's reputation as a skilled and reliable fisherman grew. He was not only an expert angler but also a captain who understood the nuances of the sea. In 1995, he acquired a larger vessel, the "Ocean Wanderer," and with it, he expanded his fishing operations. Joshua became known as a captain who put the safety and well-being of his crew above all else. He was renowned for his knowledge of the ocean's currents, its unpredictable moods, and the best spots for fishing. Joshua Hare Turner didn't just fish for profit; he also recognized the importance of responsible and sustainable fishing practices. He actively engaged in conservation efforts, advocating for the protection of marine ecosystems and responsible fishing techniques. His commitment to preserving the ocean's delicate balance earned him recognition as an environmental steward and a voice for sustainable practices in the fishing industry. Beyond his contributions to the fishing industry, Joshua was deeply invested in his community. He sponsored local events, contributed to charities supporting fishermen in need, and even provided internships for aspiring young fishermen. He believed in passing on the knowledge and love for the sea to the next generation. In 1990, Joshua married his childhood sweetheart, Emily, and together they raised two children, Benjamin and Lily. Despite the demands of his fishing career, Joshua always made time for his family, instilling in them the same love for the ocean that had defined his own life. Joshua Hare Turner's life story is a testament to the enduring relationship between humans and the sea. As he continues to navigate the waters, his legacy lives on not only through his successful fishing endeavors but also through his commitment to environmental conservation and his impact on the community he holds dear. Joshua Hare Turner's biography is a tale of a dedicated fisherman and boat captain, whose life has been characterized by his unwavering connection to the sea and his desire to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy its bounty.
