The whole thing seems ridiculous.” “I don’t know, man,” Rocker says, shrugging while downing his energy drink. “School's important.” “Yeah, and so is your health. Those things are going to kill you.” “I’ll take my chances. But Val was looking for schools before our Tommy was even born. Some were booked out years in advance. Waiting lists were long as hell, he’d have graduated high school before some of these were even up. Annie’s got the right idea. You need to move fast. Good schools fill up fast.” "Yeah," Hicks laughs, joining the conversation, as he comes into the breakroom. "Yeah, and if you're not super careful, you'll end up having to send them to school with some wackjobs. Once, a teacher told Molly that the earth was flat, and she was a science teacher. I don't think I had ever pulled Molly out of something so fast." “Wait, wait, you’re telling me I have to worry about a science teacher telling him that the Earth is flat?” “Yeah,” Hick says, and Deacon stares at him as if trying to determine how serious the commander is. “Yeah, I’m not joking. I know it may seem like a lot but you legitimately have to comb through all of these with a fine-tooth comb, or they’ll be teaching your kid something you don’t want them to be teaching them.” “That’s true,” Rocker nodded. “Tommy’s teacher told him last year during his big dinosaur phase that he couldn’t be a T-Rex for Halloween because Dinosaurs never existed. Tommy came home in tears. Val didn’t seem to mind that much but I was furious. I had him pulled out too, and my mom watched him until another place opened up.”

“That's me, but everyone calls me Buck.” Buck saw the way that Robert was shaking and wondered what was causing him so much stress. “Buck, I'm Commander Robert Hicks with LAPD SWAT and I just want to say that I am very sorry for what I have to do.” Robert handed Buck an envelope with a letter from Tommy inside and Buck got even more confused. “Would you mind reading it out loud? I'm nosey but hadn't opened the letter so I wanna know what he wrote.” Buck laughed before reading the letter out loud. “Dear Evan. If you are reading this then something happened to me at work and I am very sorry for leaving you. This letter is my only way left to tell you how much I love you.” Buck felt his heart break at the realization that this letter means that Tommy was dead. “Before I met you I was so damn jaded that I didn't know how to smile, not truly. You were always like a ray of sunshine in my otherwise dark life and I don't want that to change. I know that losing me is hurting you but you still have a life to live and I'd hate to be the reason why you didn't.” Buck broke down and hugged Bobby for a few minutes before reading the rest. “Before I met you there was no one in my life that I loved enough to write a letter like this to. You are the love of my life and just know that I will always be in your heart. Love, Tommy.” Buck dropped the letter and almost fell to his knees.
