  One of my granddaughter worked as office staff at the circus in Sarasota, Florida while attending college.

 She had complimentary tickets for family. We went with some of the grandkids.

It was our last visit to the circus. As much as it saddened me to see it close, I’m happy it did.

The animals weren’t always treated in the best way. PITA had a right to voice their dislike of the animal cruelty.

You can imagine my ‘Surprise’ to see this poor little monkey with a heavy, heavy chain around his neck.

Unacceptable!

You can imagine my ‘Surprise’ when I saw this man going past me with a snake on his shoulders.

There is a museum dedicated to the circus with miniatures on display.

Their home is a museum with extensive art and furniture. It’s a wonderful place to visit.

They were major contributors to the arts. They created a well-known art school.

 The circus has closed.

The #SugarTown end of summer Soul Carnival is THIS Saturday! Our carnival is a dance party where music is the entertainment. I love love LOVE the aesthetic of the #VintageCarnival & old timey #circus, but it's impossible to ignore how horribly animals have been exploited for human amusement via these entertainment mediums. As #RinglingCircus advertisements appear in pdx I am reminded that they are still using elephants as performers (though they plan to stop using them in the future). One last post from my Ringling Circus Museum visit. They have the most elaborate to-scale models of the entire setup and tear down of the circus experience. There's a lifetime of work with detailed models of trains, people, animals, tents. It's a bit overwhelming and this is just a glimpse of the Big Top. #typehunter #typehunting #ringlingcircus
