I'm currently playing a warhammer 40k ttrpg campaign and my character is a brand new Inquisitor Wisteria, Ordo Malleus (daemon hunter). I actually try to speak in the 1930s transatlantic villain voice for her since I think it sounds a little more unhinged than the standard high gothic posh voice. Anyway, the deal is that we each get our own immediate cohort (npc fighting group) that we interact with for story and an extended cohort that arrives in times of big battle. My DM allowed me to make my cohort A SINGLE AQUILAN SHIELD CUSTODIAN who crashed my first real mission and almost messed up the whole thing by drawing so much attention by being 10ft tall and in solid gold armor. So now, they are wrapped up in a bunch of fabric and robes and to try to pass as an Ogryn. My DM was really clever in making them carry their weapons and unequipped-armor parts and shield on different places of their body to give them a more Ogryn-like shape, which they can equip quickly if necessary. Also, I am keeping my custodian's identity a complete secret from the other PLAYERS. I refer to them as "Ogryn" or "Crusty" and reeeeaaaally try to avoid complicated wording because the more *I* talk to them them like an Ogryn, the more other npcs and players will overlook any discrepancy in their behavior (like their WICKED PRECISE FIGHTING) In reality, my character believes the custodian is her best friend.

last thing, DM has my old character Rilenata (Adepta Sororitas Zephyrim) is on the ship and does minor npc things and it makes me so happy, I probably get to play her when my inquisitor (inevitably bc it's warhammer) dies
