I loved the scene where Rick watches Michonne undress. Especially the still of her when she catches him looking, Michonne hair is messy and her skin is glowy looking like a goddess. 😩 she’s so beautiful. I’ve got it down bad for michonne probably as much as Rick. She looks so mysterious and ethereal.

a/n: yes i wrote another ghostface mask kink fic. idc idc. you can pry that idea from my cold dead hands. every single man i simp for will have one if it's the last thing i do <3
kinktober slot: day 4 - mask kink
Tumblr media
"Ew. You know that thing probably has like a billion diseases, right?" you say, a wide smile spreading across your face as you look at the raggedy Halloween mask in your boyfriend's hand.
The slender, pale face stares back at you with its motionless expression of horror. You hadn't seen one of them in a long time. Certainly not since the world went to shit.
"A billion? I don't know about that. Maybe a million," he teases.
Rick enters the room and approaches where you sit on the bed, wanting to show off his find from the supply run a bit more.
"Don't bring it too close to me. I don't wanna catch something," you say with a hand raised in defense.
"So dramatic," he mocks, "I'm not gonna put it on you."
The wooden floor creaks below his boots as he steps to the edge of the mattress. He sits down, the foamy surface dipping with the addition of his weight.
You can't help leaning forward a little bit out of curiosity. Scooting closer to his side, you look between his face and the mask.
"Were you guys raiding a Spirit Halloween or something?" you ask, resting your chin on his shoulder.
He chuckles. His hands rotate the mask between them. It actually isn't in horrible condition. Maybe a little dusty, but there aren't any huge stains or tears. Visions of him wearing it rise to the front of your mind. You could imagine his head turning, the hollow black eyes following you as he watched your figure move about. The thin fabric fanning out over his shoulders also comes up. Your favorite though is the thought of how it would look above you while he thrusts in and out of you.
Shaking those images out of your head, you refocus when he answers your question.
"No, nothin' like that. I just saw it and thought of you," he tells you, turning his head and pecking your cheek, "I remembered you tellin' me how you used to love those movies."
You almost visibly swoon. "That's so sweet. Slasher movies make you think of me," you coo, "How did I get so lucky?"
Your arms slide up and drape around his neck, bringing you closer so you can nuzzle the side of his face. His skin scratches at you a little bit. The prickle of stubble was rising again.
He returns your affection and pushes the mask aside in favor of pulling you into his lap. The two of you melt into each other and then back onto the bed. One of the perks of living in Alexandria now was not having to wait until everyone fell asleep for the night to go at it.
Tumblr media
Rick could be so soft for you. Ever since the two of you met, he seemed so naturally protective. He always lets you hold his hand. Your safety was his top priority along with that of his kids. Before the world went bad, you'd bet he was the kind of guy to hold the door open on dates and call women "miss" or "ma'am."
You're pretty sure that's why you want to see him in that mask so bad.
You knew Rick had another side to him. Something beneath the mask of being the good guy. You'd seen it before a few times. The nights where he ended up soaked in someone else's blood, the sticky crimson liquid coating his facial hair, staining his clothes.
A week after he first found that mask, he comes to your room at night wearing one of the pieces of clothing that's been marred with someone else's insides.
The mask over his face has been cleaned. He clearly washed away the dust and any other sign of mileage on the thing. The ivory plastic front shines without a spot of grime while the black fabric draped atop his hair sits there, dark as the night sky outside.
It's a sharp contrast to the white t-shirt he has on. The cloth pours down his neck and over his shoulder onto the light garment. But the abdomen of this top isn't as pristine as the collar. Blood speckles across the snowy threading, the pattern spatters in a way that makes it look like one of those ink blot tests. If you were the one being questioned, you'd say it looks sort of like a tree.
He stands there against the frame of the doorway in silence, waiting to be noticed. You had been cleaning your boots. When you finally finish, you rise from your spot on the edge of the bed and tuck them in their normal spot against the wall. Sighing, you lean back and prepare to finally have nothing left on your to-do list.
But you feel the other presence in the room. You catch him in your peripheral vision, and a gasp tears through you. Your heart springs from a calm resting beat to erratic thrashing against your ribcage. Thoughts melt from your head while breaths grow spikes in your lungs.
Once you turn your head fully and give your brain a second to register that it's only him, you start to calm down. You let out a deep sigh and put your hand across your chest.
"God, don't do that," you huff, "You scared me."
He doesn't respond.
You continue to catch your breath before looking over at him again. Your eyes scan up and down his figure. He leans against the wall so casually. His arms cross over his chest while his ankles hook one on top of the other below. Even though you can't see his gaze, you can feel the intensity of his pupils on you.
"You're lucky I didn't have my gun on me," you tell him and narrow your eyes.
Again, you get no words out of him. But this time he does push off the edge of the entryway and step forward. He swings the door shut behind him and continues to stare you down.
It's weird. Having him just stand there, digs a pit in the bottom of your belly. For a split second, your mind floats the possibility that this isn't him. The paranoid sector of your head poses questions like what if this was someone else who just found the mask? What if they just looked like Rick?
But then his arms drop from his chest and you see the silver of his watch glimmer in the pale moonlight.
It doesn't kill the tingling in your nerves any; rather, it transforms the sensation. It's a different kind of strange seeing Rick act like this. It wasn't the version of him that came out for a true threat.  He was never so silent when that was the case. In moments of desperation, he became feral - eyes darting around, limbs taut with the preparedness to strike. But that's when you realize this isn't a moment of desperation. He's the one in control. He's the threat in this situation.
"You're not even gonna try to run, little girl?" he asks, his voice coming out in that familiar drawl but with a little edge to it.
Your spine lights up like a fuse. Excitement seeps into your bones. Everything feels jittery. You don't know what to do or say. In this moment, you just want.
"You're in the way. I don't have anywhere to run," you say. Your voice waivers almost as if you naturally fall into the role of the helpless victim.
It's weird hearing yourself like that. In the world you lived in, you never wanted to sound like that. Showing weakness meant death. And hearing it from someone you loved meant their time was coming to end. Being able to express it now though, it felt different. You weren't sure how to articulate it, but that could be due to the fact that you'd never been so turned on before in your life.
He approaches you further. The wooden floor boards creak beneath his slow steps. You try to back up but your knees hit the mattress.
"No runnin'? You're gonna make this too easy for me," he chuckles, "Put up a little fight."
Your teeth dig into your bottom lip. He leans in closer to you, reaching up to drag his fingers down your cheek. You try to lean back but end up having to sit on the bed and scoot away on the mattress to create some distance.
He just laughs and grabs your ankle, preventing you from getting too far. You try wriggling your leg a little bit, but he tightens his grip and grabs the other one.
"Tsk, tsk. Pathetic," he taunts, "You're just gonna let me take what I want?"
You try kicking a little harder, but it's of no use. Each jerk of your leg goes to waste. Nothing changes. There would be no difference if you didn't move at all and just made what he said true.
"So cute," he mocks, "Just tirin' yourself out for me."
"It's not fair," you whine. You roll yourself onto your belly and try to drag yourself away by grabbing the edge of the bed. He doesn't let you though. Even though Rick was lean, he didn't lack strength. That coupled with his training as a pre-apocalypse police officer meant he knew how to restrain people. You whimper and buck your hips to try and create some momentum to get away, but it's all of no use.
"You cheated. You didn't give me a chance to run," you continue to pout before repeating your prior sentiment, "Not fair."
He laughs and whips you around onto your back again. This time he leans forward and tugs your hips harshly, dragging you over the collection of blankets so that your ass is flush against his semi-hard bulge.
"Who said I have to play fair, princess?" he asks, "Weak little thing like you wouldn't have made it far anyways."
Another whine bubbles from your lips as you squirm. He looms over you, keeping you accessible to him with the weight of his body. As he closes in, your breathing becomes heavier. The white ghostface stops inches away from the tip of your nose. You stare into the expressionless eyes of the match while your cunt throbs against the heat of his pelvis.
"You're lucky I caught you here. Spares you the embarrassment of getting dragged back, kicking and screaming. Or even worse, me pounding you into the grass out there where anyone could see," he breathes.
You shudder at the images his words create in your head.
He can feel the tremble of your limbs, and he pushes the mask up slightly to bare his lips. For a second, you think he's going in for a kiss. And in a way, that's true. But it's not on your mouth. Instead, he ducks down to your throat. He attacks it with fervor much more intense than what you usually felt from him.
These kisses are hot and open-mouthed. The tip of his tongue tickles your pulsing skin. His lips feather against it while his teeth nip and tug. All you can do is melt under it. You try to keep in character and put up a bit of resistance, but it's not a strong performance.
His fingers hook over the top of your little sleep shorts and panties and pull them down to your mid-thigh. That was all the room he needed. His hand not clutching one of your biceps slides down between your thighs. He can feel the slick on his fingers in seconds, and he huffs out a laugh.
"Oh, you're a bad girl, aren't you? The slightest bit of attention, and you're dripping. I didn't even have to do anything," he says.
After those words hit your ears, he pulls back. He tugs your shorts all the way off to free your legs before he shoves his jeans down far enough that his length can spring free. He's almost fully hard. The sight of your slippery cunt makes it easier to take it from almost to solid.
He strokes it and watches you. It's obvious how ready you are, but he can't help but want to draw it out a little more.
"Take off your top," he commands.
Your breath hitches, and you swear you feel your heart stutter. Of course, he'd seen you naked before, but it felt new here. This wasn't Rick's cool blue eyes gazing down at you with love. It was the dark, empty patches of painted plastic.
Nevertheless, your hands venture down and peel your shirt from your body. Once it's gone, your tits are left exposed to his view. He doesn't touch them, and you can't see if he stares directly at them, but it feels like he does.
He pumps his cock a little faster. A small groan rumbles from his mouth.
"I don't even have to say it twice. You didn't even need to see my face to listen. I either have you so well-trained, or you're just the most natural slut out there, babydoll. Just waiting for orders to follow like a little puppy," he rasps.
He pushes forward and slides his leaky tip against your folds. A small whine sneaks out of you at the pressure on your clit. The head nudges it before gliding down toward your entrance again where it pops in.
You both hiss at the feel. On his part, you're already so warm and tight. For you, it's the mild stretch combined with the satisfaction of having something inside you. Either way, it's just a taste of what's to come.
He sinks in more, guiding the rest of his shaft into your pussy. Whimpering, you arch your back off the bed the tiniest bit. His hand lands on your tummy and pushes you down again though. He forces you to take it all and then rocks his hips back and slams forward again.
"So sensitive," he teases.
His hands curl around your hips before he starts thrusting. Like the earlier kisses, his pelvis snaps against you with more force than usual. Your eyes roll back from the bouncing rhythm while your fingers clutch the linens beneath you.
"Poor baby. You never had any fight in you to begin with," he teases, "You give in so easily."
"It- it's not my fault," you whimper. More moans seep out of you. It feels like every slap of skin on skin knocks a new noise from you.
"Oh yes it is," he grunts, "You didn't even try because you want this. You just wanna be filled up. Don't even care who's doing it."
As he says that, your hazy eyes look up at the mask. "Do too..." you pout.
Your walls squeeze around him tight at the sight of the haunted face watching you. It bobs a little with his motions as well, shaken by the force of them.
He laughs at you from beneath the mask and speeds up a little. You clench around him in tandem with your toes curling. He leans in and bends you further in half on the mattress.
"Ok sure, sweetheart. That's why you didn't even need to see my face before I slid my dick inside you," he breathes.
Your little clit throbs at the words. As if he can sense it, one of his hands rises to thumb at the nub. Your hips buck in response, eager for more. Deep, whiny sighs flood into the air from you. He can't get enough.
"That's right, keep squeezin' me, darlin'" he says, arousal infecting his tone now too.
You nod like you have a real say. The way he was battering your pleasure spots and swiping at your clit had you tightening up involuntarily. He still moans with the feeling though. His head tilts back. You can hear his panting getting louder below that mask.
A few strokes later, he reaches up and yanks it off, dropping it to the floor next to his boot. His hair hangs damp against his forehead while his cheeks are a little flushed from the heat. None of this stops him from fucking into you though. It's as if he can't stop. The chase for release captures him on a deeper level.
Even without the help of ghostface, his stare is intense. His pupils glare into you as he provides you with more pleasure than you know what to do with.
"You think you're gonna cum for me? Gush all over my cock?" he croons mockingly.
You nod. Your arm weakly flies up so you can grab at his wrist. "Need it, Rick," you whine.
He chuckles, a small smirk teasing his lips. "You can have it then. Let it go for me," he says.
Your hips buck in time with the next handful of whimpers that leave your lips. The climb to the top feels so fucking good. Your core sizzles up until it reaches a fever pitch and you explode into white hot pleasure. A low, satisfied hum reverberates from you as your eyelashes dust your cheeks.
He fucks you through the feeling, one hand on your throat, the other down at your clit, swirling around the small nub a few times to give you the extra boost. It makes you nice and tight around his dick. Your walls squeeze like a vise. He has no choice but to let go.
As desperate as he is to fuck it deep inside of you, he stops himself at the last second and pulls out. He grabs his cock at light speed before that feeling can vanish and pumps it at the same rhythm he'd been thrusting into you.
Warm, milky ropes of cum shoot out onto your belly. The splatter across your skin, glimmering in the cool light of the night. You force your eyes open when you hear his deep moan. You're almost certain you've never seen anything as beautiful as Rick's face when he releases. His brows furrow while his jaw relaxes. He parts his lips in a small o. You watch with droopy eyes, the haze of lust still not totally gone yet.
When he's finished, he stares down at you in a similar fashion. His hand cups the back of your neck so he can bring you up to give you a kiss before he goes and grabs a towel. The bloody shirt he'd been wearing is gone when he returns. He cleans the spend off your belly and then crawls back into bed with you.
You snuggle up to him, ready to close your eyes and conk out. But then you think of something.
"I knew it was you before you took off the mask," you say. The flesh of your cheek smooshes against this chest.
He looks down at you with a raised eyebrow.
"Cause your watch," you say proudly, as if you'd discovered some great clue.
The information registers but then his lips break into a grin. "Hmm, smart girl. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever put on the mask for something secretive," he teases before yawning and tugging you closer to his side.
"Mhm, cause I'd figure you out right away," you murmur.
"I'm sure," he agrees, pressing a few kisses to your head. "Get some sleep, baby."

"He's Mine" - R.G.
pairing: rick grimes x f!reader
summary: s4 ep16. Joe's group finds you in the woods. reader is the one targeted instead of Carl
warnings: cursing, angst, mentions of sexual assault, blood, gore
a/n: this scene is my Roman Empire
Tumblr media
You were tired, exhausted from the day's journey. It's been three days since the attack at the prison. Three days since you've seen most of your family. You were lucky enough to have found Rick and Carl after everything went down, even luckier when Michonne came knocking on the front door of the house you were hiding out in.
It was nighttime now, you sat in the front seat of a rundown truck while Carl laid down in the backseat. It was unlikely that you'd get much sleep being so vulnerable in the open right now but Rick and Michonne insisted that you get some rest.
Your eyes stayed on the pair as they sat on a log off the side of the road. Every so often Rick would look into the truck, his eyes locking on yours before he returned back to his conversation with Michonne.
Things with Rick has always been a bit confusing for the both of you. It was clear from the moment you met that there was something there between you. Of course, nothing ever came out of it. He was married and desperately trying to fix the brokenness in his family.
Now that Lori has passed, it's been even weirder. Neither one of you wanted to make the first move and burst the safety bubble you were in, in terms of friendship. Nonetheless, you both knew you cared for one another deeply.
Your eyes dart to the woods when you see movement. Your heart drops as you see a few men creeping in the trees, eyes directly on Rick and Michonne. You knew what was about to happen. You weighed your options. You could scream and warn them, but you had no idea how many of them there were, nor do you know their intentions.
You guys are incredibly unarmed, nothing good would come out of this.
"Carl." You mumble quietly, trying not to make it obvious that you weren't alone in the truck. You have no idea how many of them are our there, no idea how many people were looking at you right now.
Carl stirred and grumbled slightly at your call, you shush him immediately.
"Carl, I need you to very slowly and quietly lay down on the floor of the truck. Keep the blanket over you completely." You mumble. "There are people surrounding us. I need you to hide until me or your dad tell you to come out. Do you understand me?" Your heart raced as you saw the men creep out from the treeline.
Carl quietly did what you said. "Y/N? What's happening?" He was scared. Carl tries his best to keep up with his dad and be a man, but he's still just a boy. It's a scary world now.
"Everything will be okay. Stay hidden, no matter what you hear, okay? Promise me." Your breathe hitched.
"I promise."
That was the last thing he said before one of the men shoved his gun against Rick's temple. You jumped in your seat as another man smacked on the window next to you. You tried your best to avoid glancing back at Carl.
The man grinned at you through the mirror, the creepiest grin you've ever seen. You couldn't hear what the other men were saying to Rick, but eventually a few more men came into view.
The creep tapped on the window, licking his lips as he stared.
Daryl strolled up to the group, it looked like they knew each other?
"Joe!" Daryl yelled, giving a name to the mystery man. You could tell he was trying to talk down the man that held a gun to Rick's head. It looked like whatever Daryl was saying was working, the man still held his gun against Rick but it looked like he was thinking about what Daryl was saying. All hope and relief you felt when your eyes met his vanished when two men grabbed Daryl, punching and kicking him.
Your heart drops as the other man throws Michonne to the ground. The door of the truck swings open and you pray that Carl is brave enough to be silent.
The man grabs you roughly, pulling you out of the truck before patting you down and throwing your pocket knife a few feet away. You fought to wiggle out of his grip but he pushed you against the ground faster than you could blink.
"Shhh.." He says into your ear. "We're gonna have some fun, sweets."
"Leave her be!" You could hear Rick yell over all the commotion. The grunts of Daryl filled your ears as he got punched and kicked only a few feet away from you.
The man on top of you was chuckling as you tried to fight him off, clawing at him and squirming to get out from underneath him.
"Listen, it was me. It was just me." Rick grumbles to Joe.
"See, now that's right. That's not some damn lie." Joe chuckles. "Look, we can settle this. We're reasonable men."
"Get off of me you sick bastard!" You shout, spitting at the man. His hands found it's way to your chest and you screamed as he touched you.
"First, we're going to beat Daryl to death. Then the girl. Then when Dan finishes having his fun with that one over there, we'll all have a turn." The smugness in his voice was deafening.
"Then I'm going to shoot you and then we'll be square." Laughter leaves Joe's body.
"Let her go." Rick says again, as your being turned onto your stomach.
You wanted to cry as Dan pressed your face into the dirt. The pain was forgotten as the sound of his belt buckle clanking rang through your ears.
"This is going to be a whole lot worse for you if you don't stop fighting." Dan grunts into your ear, pressing against your butt. Sobs begin to leave your mouth as reality of what was about to happen sets in.
There was no hope.
The man tugs at your jeans, trying to pull them down.
A gun fires. Everyone seems to pause for a moment. Dan stops for a moment and you take the opportunity to look up, praying that none of you were hit by the bullet.
You see Rick take a swing at Joe before Joe hits him right back, knocking him to the ground. Dan immediately goes back to what he was doing, trying to rip your clothes off of you. You reach for you pocket knife that was just out of reach.
Your cries filled at air when Dan pins you down once again.
"What the hell are you gonna do now, sport?"
Then a squelching sound fills the air before a body thuds to the ground. This time everyone freezes in surprise. You look back at Rick to see him completely covered in blood from his nose to his chest. He spits out blood and skin and your eyes fall onto Joe's limp body on the ground, blood gushing out of his throat.
Fuck.
Michonne doesn't waste a beat as she grabs a gun and shoots the guy holding her before taking out the ones that held Daryl.
Dan is on his feet in seconds once he realizes he's the only one left. He pulls you up, pressing against you as he holds a knife to your throat.
"I'll kill her. I'll- I'll kill her!" He shouts as Michonne points the gun at him.
"Let her go!" She demands.
Rick pulls a knife out of Joe, standing up and balancing himself. His eyes lock onto Dan, it was almost like he had tunnel vision. He pants.
"He's mine."
Rick takes a few strides towards you and you feel Dan's grip on you loosen as he's consumed with fear. He pushes you forward, staring to beg Rick for mercy.
Daryl catches you from hitting the ground as you watch Rick stab Dan over and over again. Michonne stands by you, trying to block your view of the slaughter.
"Carl." You whisper, realizing that he was still tucked inside the truck. "C-carl." You wiggle out of Daryl's grip, running to the truck and swinging the back door open.
You could see Carl's figure shaking underneath the blanket. "Carl." You say again. "Come on out, it's okay." You whisper. Slowly he peaks his head out, once his eyes meet yours, his body instantly relaxes and he's pushing himself off the ground and throwing himself into your arms.
You, Carl and Michonne stayed in the truck for the rest of the night while Daryl and Rick stayed outside. Nobody talked. Rick looked to be in his head.
Carl laid on across the back seat, his head resting on my lap. You tried to lull him to sleep but it was clear that nobody would be getting a blink of sleep after what just played out.
When the sun started to rise you asked Michonne to take your place, not wanting Carl to be alone. Daryl had gone out to scout the area.
You poured some water onto a clothe and sat down in front of Rick, settled between his legs but leaving enough space to make it appropriate.
His eyes flickered to yours as you wiped the blood off his face.
“Should’ve saved the water.” His voice was hoarse. You shook your head, trying your best to clean him.
“He shouldn’t see you like this.” You say calmly, wiping his hands clean once his face and neck were clean. Rick watched you intently.
“Are you okay?” His voice softens as he asks. You clear your throat, flashbacks of last night playing through your head. Ricks clean hand reaches up and his thumb rubs your cheek softly.
You were able to catch sight of your face in the car mirrors. Red scuff marks littered your face where you were pressed into the ground.
“I’m okay, it’s not that bad.” You shrug. Rick stared into your eyes, his hands still holding your face.
“Are you okay?” He asks again, really holding your gaze. Your chest tightens and you know you won’t be able to fight the tears.
Rick let’s go of your face but pulls your body into his immediately. You let the tears fall as he held you. “I’m so sorry.” He whispered in your ear. “I will never let anything happen to you. Ever.” He kept apologizing, his voice cracking every so often.
“You’re safe.” He says. “You’re safe with me.”
And you knew that he was telling the truth.

♥️ Ranking Richonne
#7: How'd I Get So Lucky Finding You (S9E01)
Tumblr media
Imagine feeling lucky in a fallen world. 🥹 Losing so much and still feeling like you won because you found the ultimate love of your life. 😭 It’s beautiful and powerful that Richonne’s love is so strong that it has them feeling fortunate even after enduring a series of unfortunate events. And in this stunning scene, we get to see so much of why Rick and Michonne have an everlasting love. This scene is an absolutely heartwarming delight and it features my favorite thing Rick has ever said to Michonne in TWD 😍...
I will forever love the state of Richonne’s relationship in s9. They finally had time to breathe and be a family with Judith, and I loved every moment they got to relish in being together.
I always knew Rick and Michonne wouldn't be the type of couple who were only compatible in fight and survival mode - they're equally compatible in just living and being mode.
So I appreciate that this scene takes its time to just be as the two cuddle up and showcase yet again why they work so perfectly with each other. They truly belong together and fit together like two pieces of a puzzle. 🥰
Tumblr media
Also, I will always like that this scene of Richonne snuggled up in bed takes place in the Sanctuary of all places. Just more proof that nothing, not even the oppressive reign of Negan, was going to break Richonne because now Rick and Michonne are up in that batty man's crib fully immersed in their sweet Richonne bubble. 🤗
They just feel so married with Rick washing up and then getting in bed with Michonne as the two just instinctively get wrapped up in each other. And the way Rick kisses her forehead. 🥹 It’s always so clear that they feel the most safe to completely decompress and let their guard down with each other and are so precious to each other.
Tumblr media
And I’m just giddy every time I hear Michonne adorably and playfully call Rick “the famous Rick Grimes” with that shoulder shimmy while resting on his chest. Perfection. 👌🏽
I love their teasing banter and how she’s addressing the way Rick's a legend to the people. As he should be. And Rick’s playful, "don’t you start too" response to hearing her say that is just great. 😊
Tumblr media
It’s adorable that she plays with his beard while noting that the reverence people have for him is sweet. She gets it. She says, “just don’t let it get to your head” and Richonne tones for the win once again in this scene. 😍
Tumblr media
And again the two bring up Maggie and how they feel for her since she has to deal with losing that Hilltop kid, which is particularly sad too because R&M lost their own teenage son just about a year and a half ago.
Rick and Michonne then have this moment where they both just take a synchronized deep breath and these two seriously always feel like one, especially in the way they breathe in this moment.
I like how Rick seems tired as he closes his eyes, but then Michonne says his name, and he can always be awake and alert for her when they need to talk.
I really like too how Michonne and Rick both get honest about the fact that they wonder if they should have just killed Negan. To which I was like, yes...
Tumblr media
But I appreciate that Michonne says "we" when talking about this choice because she and Rick are a package deal. Saving Negan without consulting the others was Rick’s most controversial move among tf, and it clearly had some tf members feeling understandably upset. But it’s nice that, by saying "we," Michonne doesn’t make Rick feel like he was alone in that choice.
Rick thinks the Saviors just want food, not Negan back in charge, and Michonne reminds him they don’t know that for sure, which is valid, and it’s great they can communicate like this.
And then I love that Michonne lets him know she’s been thinking about an agreement between the communities and that she maps out the idea with her hand over his heart. Their closeness really is unparalleled.
Also the way Rick is looking at his wife throughout this scene is um...it's gold and damn near made me lose my train of thought so let me get myself back on track lol.
Tumblr media
I love that Rick affirms Michonne's idea, telling her it’s good and smart, and how he looks right at her while saying it could bring people closer together. And the way Michonne touches him. I love that they really don’t take their hands off each other for pretty much the entire scene. 😊
And then Rick opens up and lets her know what's on his mind as he shares that Daryl isn’t happy, and it makes him worried about things breaking down. Scenes like this are why I believe Michonne is not just Rick's wife but truly his best friend. They always can confide in each other and express everything going on inside - their hopes, ideas, worries, and fears.
It’s sweet that Michonne acknowledges the validity of what Daryl feels. And Rick groans a bit and says Daryl cares too much sometimes. I appreciate that Michonne can sense Rick's headspace so clearly here and doesn’t want a divide to be caused between those two brothers (even tho it ends up being a bit too late sadly).
Tumblr media
The way Michonne whispers 'hey' and then gently turns Rick's face towards her, it’s like a visible illustration of how she centers him and reminds him to stay focused on the good and how to move things forward. And of course, Rick is receptive to this redirection as he looks into her eyes. Love it. 😊
Michonne acknowledges that if Daryl is worried then there’s a reason. And again, because R&M are a package deal, she asks, "What do we do about it?" knowing however they handle it, it will be together.
And then, like a well-oiled machine, Rick says he thinks they need to fix that bridge, and Michonne says she'll get the people to agree to a charter. Look at these leaders making big community decisions all while snuggling in bed together. 🥰
Tumblr media
So then it’s Rick’s turn to do some teasing when he asks if it’ll be a "charter or constitution?" Again, I love how lines like these show Rick and Michonne know each other's humor as Michonne amusedly confirms it'll be a charter. And it's just sweet too cuz, while they're playing around, I'm sure Rick fully believes Michonne would be capable of drafting up a whole effective constitution for the new world lol.
Their synchronized smiles at this moment are seriously the best. 🙌🏽And then Rick kissing her three times is even better. The way Michonne smiles at him. The way he always has to come back for more. I live.😍
Tumblr media
And I just absolutely love getting to see Rick and Michonne in such a relaxed happy state. Scenes like this make it so clear why Rick and Michonne haven't moved on from each other after all those years apart. You don't move on from a love like this.
Richonne gives each other joy like no other and this whole exchange shows how they work so effortlessly together as leaders and lovers. What a pair. 🤩 As Andy said, they truly are perfect partners in this imperfect world.
Plus it’s just always so sweet that two of the strongest, fiercest, most intimidating warriors in the world find each other so cute and cuddly. 😋
Tumblr media
Y'all, Richonne + cars is a thing, and also Richonne + candle-lit scenes too, because they are always A1.
...But then the candles get blown out, and this scene proceeds to reach its peak of perfection. 🤩
Tumblr media
As someone who loves a lengthy Richonne scene, I remember first watching this ep live and being so happy that they weren’t cutting away from them once the lights went out. I had no idea it was because we were in for something so heavenly. 😇
Tumblr media
Cuz they turn off the lights and then immediately wrap their arms around each other again to go to sleep and it’s always so sweet seeing Rick softly touch her hair. All the little gestures just feel like this person in their arms is their treasure who has their whole heart. #ILoveEveryRichonneDetail
Tumblr media
Then....y'all then Rick opens his eyes to utter the greatest thing he's ever said to Michonne thus far - “How’d I get so lucky finding you?”
BEAUTIFUL. Powerful, meaningful, romantic, fitting, perfect. I could go on. 👩🏽‍🍳💋
I love the delivery of the line because it really feels like it’s this reoccurring thought for Rick that, at this moment, his mind was thinking and just had to utter out loud.
It's fitting he’d say this after the convo they just had because it really did capture why Michonne is so perfect for him, and I love that he knows it and vocalizes it. Michonne is a genuinely phenomenal individual, so it makes perfect sense that Rick feels not just happy but lucky to have her.
And just to think about their journey and know that we’d arrive at a point where Rick reflects on when he met Michonne and feels so personally lucky to have found her. 😭 She’s his soulmate, and he knows it wholeheartedly.
Tumblr media
And I love that beyond literally finding each other, there’s something deep about the way Rick and Michonne found each other in their truest form. They saw each other in a deeper way and brought each other back from the lost state they were in.
Also, I always think it’s sweet how Rick said this with zero other motives - this was just his abundant love for her pouring out. I’m so grateful that in Rick's final season, they didn’t give him and Michonne any tiffs or division, but rather showed that they have only grown closer and more in love since the last season.
Like after one of the series' longest time jumps, I adore that we return to a Rick and Michonne who have clearly spent the last year and a half strengthening their bond even more, and healing, and fully enjoying their life together. They are really and truly an unbreakable unit who only fall more in love the more time they spend together.
When I think about all Rick and Michonne have been through together and all they’ve built, it’s just the absolute greatest thing to know Rick thinks about his life and feels so sincerely lucky that he found Michonne. We knew that the day they found each other at the prison fence was life-changing, and it's great to see them two know it too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you were to tell Season One Rick that he was going to eventually lose his son, Carl, but would still have family that made him feel like a lucky man, he'd probably think you were crazy. And yet, this is the power of Richonne. The family found between Rick and Michonne runs so deep and is so authentic that, even after the most painful loss imaginable, Rick knows he still has so much to live for because he has Michonne and Judith.
Then it’s so sweet that Michonne hears Rick say this heart-bursting line and takes his hand because she feels the same way, and is likely thinking that's the...
Tumblr media
#DirectQuoteFromHerMind you already know. 😋
And then Michonne softly tells Rick, "We both lost enough, it’s time we won a little don’t you think?" My heart. 😭 This moment is everything.
And y’all, I had gone back and re-read one of my old Richonne in Retrospect posts from several years ago where I reflected on a s6 scene between Michonne and David, that Alexandrian who got bit in 6.03. In that 6.03 scene, David talks to Michonne about his love story which completely and intentionally mirrors Michonne's own love story with Rick. And in that old post, I wrote this:
"Rick and Michonne finding each other in all this is really one of the best things that happened to them. And in this type of world people take a whole lot of L’s so it’s cool that they were actually able to find such a big win in finding each other…and if R&M ever verbally imply a similar sentiment to each other about how finding each other in all this was everything, this will literally be me…"
Tumblr media
So the fact that over a year after I wrote that, Rick and Michonne express exactly this...😭🙌🏾😭 It is the best ever. And just as I predicted, that gif above was and still is me whenever I watch this scene. It is just so powerful for Rick and Michonne to feel like amid all their loss, they still won big time by finding each other and falling in love.
And then Michonne so lovingly kisses his hand, and Rick is perfectly content with that exchange as he shuts his eyes. But then, once again, the gift that keeps on giving gives us even more. 🤩
Cuz Michonne turns to look at him and then Rick...y’all, I’ll never get over how he looks at her right here. Like he looks right at Michonne with a breathtaking look that says, “I’m wholly and completely yours” and so clearly shows that she seriously means everything to him.
Tumblr media
(also! y'all, I wrote this whole post before that V-day trailer, and so the fact that we've now got to hear Rick directly say, "I am yours," before the show even officially premieres 😍😍😍 my goodness TOWL is just blessings on blessings)
So then they kiss and it wonderfully ramps up with Michonne getting on top of him and reiterating "the famous Rick Grimes." 😏
Tumblr media
…except this time, i think sis means he’s famous for reasons only she knows about. and that’s their business. 😋
Tumblr media
As Danai has noted before, Rick knows how to make Michonne vulnerable, and Michonne knows how to make Rick laugh, which is just sublime.
And the way Rick laughs at the close of this scene - you know that if there’s one person he likes being "the famous Rick Grimes" to it’s Mrs. Grimes. 😊
Tumblr media
Y’all, this whole scene blessed us ten times over. Our ship has it all. And we really do get whatever we want lol. 💅🏽
(Side note: it's also important to note that we don't just get whatever we want as some sort of forced fan service from the show. (Considering Gimple was planting Richonne seeds before viewers had even seen the two on screen together, that fan-service take simply can't be true). The real reason we get what we want is because the very love story we want to see is also the very love story the show wanted to organically craft. These TWD writers, actors, producers, network/production companies etc, fully recognize Rick and Michonne's relationship as a special marriage with crazy love between two tethered soulmates, and we're just in agreement and alignment with that. And I feel fortunate that the canon story being told is as beautiful, romantic, and authentic as we wanted and knew it would be)
Tumblr media
I’m so grateful for this tender scene and that these actors are so capable of playing every shade of Richonne perfectly. Like we got serious, playful, romantic, steamy, and utterly heartfelt all in this one scene. 🙌🏾
And while Rick has expressed feeling so lucky to have Michonne in the way he looks at her for many seasons, it was wonderful to hear him also outright verbalize that in finding her he found a true reward. He doesn’t take her for granted, and Michonne doesn’t either, knowing that he is her win in all this too.
This moment is also beautiful because Rick and Michonne are two selfless individuals who have been put through the wringer on their individual and shared journeys yet still remained dedicated to giving their all to protect their people - And then the universe sent them each other and said ♡ you deserve to be taken care of too, ♡ you deserve to be held too, ♡ you deserve a gift that's just for you too. ♡ oh and also the gift that we're sending you is...
Tumblr media
Rick and Michonne are each other's blessing. This scene solidified that beautifully.
They won because of each other, and we won with special scenes like this that contribute so much to Richonne’s perfect love story. 😌

Don't Let Me In (with no intention to keep me) || Rick Grimes (TWD)
Based on the song: 'It Will Come Back' by Hozier
Available on AO3
Tumblr media
Summary: That day, your camp was raided. Gunfire and hostages, so many of you were lucky to be alive. After Rick and a few others gained control of the situation, you realize you were hurt. It was just a few scratches, there were others with worse. Rick highly disagreed.
TWS: TENSION (both kinds), blood, gore, gun violence (violence in general), being held at gunpoint, implied murder, death, revenge, murder jacket!Rick, kind of dark!Rick, possessiveness, protectiveness, all things consistent with TWD.
[[A/N: KIND OF SPICY, but not really??? It's hard to explain. This is really just the 'who hurt you' trope between you and Rick with nothing left to lose. Needed this kinda vibe after all the fluff recently. For bestie @murder-jacket !!! Enjoy :)) ]]
Tumblr media
Your head was spinning, and it felt like you couldn't breathe.
Rick and a few others had gone off on a supply run -resources were whittling down and the group needed more. But of course, the one time most of the weapons are gone is when a group decided to swarm. It wasn't exactly like you were empty-handed, but without some of your best shooters... you were almost desolate.
You held onto Carl like it was the last thing you'd ever do, squeezing his shirt so tight in your fingers the fabric was morphing into a shape. In a distant part of your mind, you knew you were muttering to him -promises that everything would be fine, that they'd be back before he even knew it.
And then, one of the men turned to you.
"So," he spoke, waltzing up a slow pace towards the two of you, "-you're the sweetheart, huh?"
You stiffened, hesitating wrapping your fingers around Carl -you could probably just push him away... keep him safe. At the thought, Carl stood against you tighter -protective even, but you wouldn't let him do anything stupid.
"Quite a beaut," the man spoke, trailing the tip of his gun to under your chin and tilting up your face to match his, "-aren't ya?"
"Look," you spoke, voice steady and calm (you'd been through much much worse), "-just leave him alone and I'll-"
"What?" He pushed, tone drenched in frustration, pushing the tip of the gun into your neck, "Do whatever I say? Surprisingly, I think we've got that covered."
The distant sound of gunshots echoed then, it was far from you -he had singled you two out. (Someone had luckily hidden with Judith, Carol had subtly told you before they separated you.)
You froze, trying to see by some grace if you could hear anything -was it your people? Or was it them? Were they dying? That was until you saw the look on the unnamed man's face.
His face was twisted in confusion, spun to meet the sounds -he was not aware of those shots. You could tell, and a tiny part of you hoped for Rick to have returned early.
He cleared his throat, turning towards the two of you -Carl still attached at your hip, "Leave the kid, you, come with me."
"That's not happening," you gritted through your teeth, hand tightening on Carl.
You couldn't protect him if he wasn't by you, you hadn't known what they wanted to do or why they were even here. Carl was not safe with you, but he was even less safe when he was alone. You wouldn't let him leave your side. You couldn't.
"Heroic, really," he tsked, seeming to regain his confidence -dragging the gun along your jaw to your temple, "-but I don't think I gave you a choice."
And then, there was movement behind him. You couldn't properly see what or who it was, but Carl -who was held tightly by your side, loosened. Relaxed, even.
That was... good. Maybe it was someone you knew.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
The low drawl was gravelly, a tone he'd only found in anger -Rick. Even just his voice helped your breaths calm, the cool metal stark against your skin. You still stood as still as a statue, you'd give him no reason to shoot -no sudden movements.
"Well, look here-" the man exhaled, "-if it ain't the man of the hour."
"I don't think you heard me," Rick echoed and you could barely see him, but you saw a shadow of the movement -the click of a gun.
On instinct, your breath hitched -heavy in your chest, you realized then that you hadn't wanted to die. It was a terrifying thought, then, as the metal dipped into your skin; it was surely something to realize then.
"Frankly, I don't think you have the power here, Rick," the man spoke, not moving the gun from your skin and adjusting you to face Rick and Carl now, who had thankfully been ushered to his side.
You were looking at him now, eyes placed so delicately on his form and there was a steely gaze there -matched only by the man who held you in place. His jaw, covered in the beard he'd so recently grown, was set, pinched in the way it always was when he was in a situation he didn't want to be in. His jacket, once pristine, was now stained on the white with an ominous red, and part of you, without thinking, scanned him over at the mere thought that the blood might be his.
Rick's gaze flicked to you, just for a few seconds -looking for injuries, maybe, just like you were. There was a softness as he did so, the blue gaze affectionate and careful -they stuttered at your scraped forearms, jaw clenched and eyes determined. It didn't seem too bad, just stung against the cool breeze of the night -you doubted it was even bleeding.
"Oh, I'm sorry-" he began in response, tone aggressive in a demanding sort of way, "-did you call those gunshots earlier? Was that part of your master plan?"
The man quietened, and you could only imagine his face. Rick was angry, and in some twisted way, you were delighted he was this angry over you.
"Because, if I'm remembering correctly," he was stepping closer now, slow steady steps -his tone light, but there was something heavy there, something furious, "-that was my call."
The man was silent for a second, and you felt the coolness of the metal falter -he readjusted it, pushing farther into your skin. You hissed at the pressure, and out of the corner of your eye, you saw Rick still at the noise.
His eyes gleamed, flickering over you -trying to convey something to you (a safety) and then straying to your neck.
"You wouldn't," the man finally spoke, but there was no nerve behind it -he was scared. And as your eyes fluttered upon Rick, who looked just a bit like a man with nothing to lose, you wondered if you would be too.
He didn't give him the dignity of a response, trailing on, "I mean, don't you think they woulda come to you by now?"
That was when the man moved, faltering against you -he was shaking, and you could feel it. The cool metal was no longer directly against your skin but distant, the deep breaths now heavy in your ear -he was panicking.
"Look, you-" he straightened, trying to gain some sense of control then and pointedly looking at Rick, "-you let me go. Nothing happens to 'em."
He remained calm, or still, you guessed you should say, there was nothing behind those eyes that was calm. They were a heavy sort of gaze, intense and direct -if looks could kill, this man would be on his knees.
"What did ya say earlier?" he hummed, stepping even closer now, the crunch of the grass under his boots the only noise other than the heave of breaths. Rick was agonizing, steps deliberate, and the tension in the air was thick enough to suffocate you.
And then he was a breath away from the man, pistol up and located square in his forehead, "Frankly, I don't think you have the power here."
Maybe if it was another day or another person, Rick would've hesitated.
On this day with you there, he didn't.
It was quick, at least, your ear ringing and the side of your face covered in a sort of sludge you really didn't want to think about. And Rick was unflinching, at the blood that now smeared across his face -eyes set in a sort of stare that you'd recognized maybe once before.
Carl was the first to move, rushing to you, "You okay?"
You coughed, the adrenaline leaving a sort of dizziness in its wake and your stomach swirling with a kind of dread at what had happened mere feet from you, "I'm fine, I-I swear. Just a little shaken up."
Rick was close behind, without much thought ripping the hems of his shirt off -wordlessly, before taking his hands (that had just killed a man) and so delicately wrapping the cloth around your forearms. Bloodstained fingers pushing gently into your skin like you could break like you were something so precious.
"You don't need to-"
His eyes leveled at you, usually so fuzzily affectionate, now a sort of steely gaze -unmoving and intense. There was something there you hadn't seen from him before, protective to an extent you'd never seen. It wasn't like when he shoved you behind him when a gun was pulled, this was more instinctive.
"Carl, go get some water-" he was condensed in his speech, tone gruff but not necessarily rude -it was more direct in a brash way.
You remained still, watching simply as his hands circled around the scrapes -eyes focused on the motion, he hardly seemed to notice your gaze. It was a curious one, after such a clash in your head -how could he still be so gentle, after-
Carl was quick, a little canteen he kept on his hip filled with, what you assumed, was river water. The camp had been too far for anything else -especially with the speed unless it had been longer than you thought. The bandaging was methodical and with your head in such a state, you wouldn't be surprised.
Without so much as a word, Rick tugged another scrap shoved away in a pocket and wet it, "Thank you. You go check on the others for me?"
Carl hesitated for no more than a second, before heading back the way he'd just come.
Something in you flipped at the idea of you and Rick alone here suddenly -not quite unsettled or scared. It was more anticipation, as the air fizzled with a sort of spark you hadn't thought possible in the apocalypse. Or maybe ever.
Rick was unfazed, raising the makeshift rag to wipe your cheek -his calloused fingertips leaving a sort of trail across your skin. And your head still stayed in that sort of fuzzy spin that it was, a bit more affectionate than the one before. The metallic and somehow woodsy smell grounded you back to where you were, you leaned into his touch -just slightly.
"There ya are, sweetheart," he whispered, smiling in a small sort of way -fingertips trailing over your eyebrow, "-with me now?"
You only nodded, a bit too speechless at a touch so tender after something so... violent.
"Words," he clarified, blue eyes set into yours.
"Yes," you spoke, your throat scratchy and eyes dry, "-yes, I'm here."
Before he could say anything, you gently took the rag from his hand -rewetting it with the ease of a sip from the canteen. Your hand gently brushed across his face -wiping off the blood with the gentlest of movements. It felt far too intimate than it should've been.
Rick was silent, blue eyes in a steady haze across your face -surfing across your features in a sort of pleasant buzz. In the teeniest of moments, he leaned into your palm. His warm skin against your own sent something to your toes then, but you had a job to do.
When you finished, sweeping the rag across his nose with a swift motion -he took the rag, stashing it. In a sort of instinct, his hands went up to cup your face -determination settling somewhere deep in his eyes and a sort of worry in the furrow of his eyebrows.
"This will never happen again," he spoke -sounding somehow like a demand and a promise all at once, "-'kay?"
"And if it does?"
His eyes returned to the steely gaze -far away and distant from where you stood, and the heaviness there was enough to make your heart skip a beat. In fear? You couldn't tell.
Rick didn't stutter then, voice steady and with an unshakeable certainty -like you had asked if the sky was blue. His eyes shadowed in a sort of shade that spoke for itself.
"I think you know."

As you sat atop the watchtower, looking out over the surrounding woods your mind drifted back to before you arrived here, before he saved you. You’d been so alone, constantly hungry and never knowing where you would be staying next.
You took a deep breath of the crisp morning air and thought about how lucky you had been for him to have found you out there. He plucked you out of your desperate life and invited you to join his group. Providing you with everything your soul needed, security, companionship and a stable place to lay your head every night.
The sound of a metal door closing jolted you out of your thoughts, glancing down to see the very man you had just been thinking about walking outside. You watched as he strided down to the farm that had been built, admiring the way his rolled up sleeves hugged his biceps.
The view completely consumed your attention, watching him get to work, you were filled with feelings of gratitude, admiration and… something more. Over your few months here you couldn’t help but feel drawn to Rick, though you couldn’t quite pinpoint why.
Were you just feeling this way because he’d saved you, or was it in the way he helped and looked out for everyone here, or maybe it was more personal. In the way he listened to what you had to say, the way he made sure you always got something to eat, or maybe it was none of that at all and just that you had been alone for so long.
You’d debated talking to him about it on many occasions, but you never ended up saying anything. Your confusion was nothing compared to the other problems people had. So you were content to just keep whatever it was you were feeling hidden.
You couldn’t stop your face from heating up as you watched him begin to pump water, his muscular arms flexing with each movement. Even from where you were perched, you could see the sheen of sweat that formed on his skin, shining in the early morning sunlight. It was such a simple task but the sight stirred an unexpected warmth within you.
The familiar sound of someone climbing up the metal ladder of the watchtower drew you away from your thoughts. Maggie had come to take over the watch and allow you to get some much needed rest.
‘Ya don’t need to act like ya weren’t just staring at him,’ Maggie joked as she reached the top.
You kept your face away from her to hide the small smile that formed. ‘I have no idea what you’re talking about,’ you half joked back.
She laughed as she approached. ‘Keep pretending then, but I see the way ya look, there’s something there,’ she nudged you with her elbow as she finished talking.
You glanced at her, seeing the knowing smile etched on her face. She looked as if she knew your own feelings better than you did. With a small sigh and a slight shake of your head you opted to not respond, instead simply thanking her before descending the ladder. Little did you know that a certain pair of eyes were now watching your movements.
Rick couldn’t help the way his eyes glanced over your body as you climbed down from the tower. The rising sun casting a golden glow over you. He’d felt like he’d barely taken his eyes off of you since the moment he’d found you. Rick felt as though you were a breath of fresh air to him in this otherwise cruel world. He hadn’t so much as looked at another person since Lori passed and then along you came.
As you reached solid ground again, you chanced taking one final look over to the farm. There your eyes met with Rick’s, who was already looking over to you with a soft gaze. A brief shared moment unfolded, where neither of you made any move to look away, temporarily making you forget about the hell surrounding your safe haven.
The noise of Carl calling for his dads help quickly shattered the moment, drawing Rick’s attention away from you. A slight pang of disappointment rolled through you but you dismissed it and headed inside to grab some food.
Back up in the tower Maggie had watched your little stare off, mumbling ‘idiots,’ under her breath as she reached for her binoculars.
Tumblr media
Later that same day, once you’d showered and changed into a different outfit you decided to wander over to the makeshift library, wanting a book to fill your time.
You found the room to be empty when you arrived, deciding to make the most of it you took your time perusing the shelves. Some books were in better condition than others that had been found on runs, but the room still managed to fill you with nostalgia. You found a selection you hadn’t looked at yet and sank to your knees as you began to look through the bottom shelf.
As you reached for a book, a shadow suddenly grew over you, blocking out most of the light. Raising your eyes you found Rick casually leaning against the edge of the bookshelf. You knew you probably shouldn’t but you took your time letting your eyes take in his body, sweat and dirt clung to him from a day of working outside.
The air seemed to thicken as your eyes finally met his. Rick’s gaze was intense and he held yours as if coaxing you into revealing your confusing feelings towards him.
‘Going on a run tomorrow,’ if he’d felt the same tension you did, he didn’t show it. ‘Thought you might want to join?’ he added.
‘You want me to come on a run with you?’ You asked, you hadn’t left the prison since he’d first brought you here. Not that anyone was keeping you here, you had just craved the safety the thick walls provided after being exposed for so long.
‘I’ve seen the way you can handle a gun,’ he said with a slight smirk, thinking back to when you’d first met. ‘It’s just a quick run to a pharmacy Glenn found. Figured you might wanna come, enjoy the ride.’ He stayed leaning against the shelf, awaiting your answer.
Unable to form words due to your mind flooding with questions, you replied with a smile and nod of your head.
Rick returned your smile as he stood at full height, before turning he said ‘6am, we’ll take the truck,’ and with that he walked away. You stayed, almost frozen, in the same spot with your smile lingering.
Yes, you were going to be briefly leaving the safety you had found here to go back out into the vicious, unpredictable world. But the idea of a drive sounded nice and the one on one time with Rick could help you figure out exactly what your feelings were.
As the rest of the day unfolded, the anticipation of the early morning run settled into your thoughts. Your evening passed by as usual, finishing with you in your bunk reading. Though the book you’d chosen was doing little to calm the restlessness that overtook your mind, willing you to think about unspoken questions.
Why had Rick asked you out of everyone here? Why hadn’t he asked Daryl or Glenn? What if something bad happened? What if you messed up?
With the weight of the questions bearing down on you, you eventually fell into a fitful sleep. As your eyelids fluttered closed images of the outside world manifested before you, vague images of what was to come. Images of horror slowly changed to thoughts of the man you’d be going with, calming your mind. You’d be safe with Rick, you knew you would be.
Tumblr media
6am came around with a light fog rolling across the grounds. You found yourself staring through the prison gates waiting for Rick. You could hear the moans of a few surrounding walkers.
The moans were interrupted by the sound of an engine starting. You turned to find Rick a few feet away sat in the truck. You approached and quickly climbed into the passenger seat.
‘Ready to go?’ He asked as he shifted into drive, looking over to you. Your mind grew foggy as you took in the site of Rick. You guessed he’d had a shower before coming to meet you, his curls were slightly damp and you desperately wanted to run your fingers through them.
Shaking the thoughts from your head you replied, ‘ready as I’ll ever be,’ and you buckled your seat belt.
He nodded, and with that he started to drive. As the truck rumbled out of the safety of the prison, you raised your hand to Maggie and Glenn, who opened the gates for your departure. The sound of the gates closing echoed through the quiet morning as your vehicle ventured further away from the compound.
Gazing out of the window, you watched as the rows of trees rolled by, the leaves above filtered the sunlight creating patterns on the ground. It was peaceful, and the quietness that filled the car was far from uncomfortable. You could almost convince yourself it was a normal day, just the two of you going out for a drive on a quiet morning.
You were brought back to reality once the trees cleared and you were surrounded by vast fields, where you could spot the occasional Walker roaming aimlessly. Yet that didn’t even lower your mood, you felt content sat there with Rick, the hum of the engine serving as your backdrop.
You looked over to the man driving, his strong hands gripping the wheel making the veins on his forearms slightly more prominent. You subtly ran your eyes up his arms, where you briefly lingered on his broad shoulders, and then finally settling on his face. Taking the time to admire the salt and pepper stubble framing his jawline.
Rick could feel your eyes on him, no matter how much you tried to hide it. He fought to keep a smirk from appearing, and let himself enjoy being able to hold your attention without having to do anything. He was happy he’d finally found an excuse to spend some time with just you, sharing a seemingly ordinary drive.
The sight of buildings arrived far too soon for your liking, wishing this bubble that had enveloped the two of you on this journey could last longer. Rick pulled up to the pharmacy, the windows and door were still intact which served as a good sign that it hadn’t already been completely looted.
Without a word the two of you exited the truck. You were on high alert as you made your way around to the Rick, checking around you for any signs of walkers or people. Though the small town seemed empty, the months you had spent alone had taught you not to let your guard down so easily.
Rick silently motioned for you to follow him as he approached the door, knocking on it in order to find out if any walkers lurked inside. After a minute of nothing Rick pushed the door open, the creaking sound echoing around the small store. You couldn’t help but notice the way he deliberately stepped in front of you, you flushed slightly at the protectiveness of the move.
Once he deemed it safe you saw his shoulders relax slightly. The shelves weren’t completely barren so you stepped around him and began filling your bag with anything that seemed like it would be of use. You quickly got into a rhythm of checking the items and shoving them in your bag.
Clearly deciding there was no immediate threat Rick split off to the other side of the store and began searching there. You sighed as you reached the end of your shelves, you’d packed a lot but you were sure there was more to find. Leaving your bag on the counter you walked around to the back, searching the shelves that should have only been available to employees. Apparently whoever had passed through before had cleared most of these out.
As you ventured further back you found a door with a ‘Staff Only’ sign on it. Driven by the hope of more supplies you opened the door without thinking. Everything happened so fast, the door had been shut for a good reason. In an instant it swung open to reveal two walkers that had been waiting, as if anticipating an unsuspecting victim to stumble upon them.
With their vacant eyes fixed determinedly on you they lunged forward. They fell over each other as they desperately reached for you. You fumbled for your gun as you backed up on unsteady legs, as you unclipped it from your belt you tripped on a fallen shelf, managing to drop your gun as you fell to the floor. A yelp escaped your lips as one of the walkers toppled on top of you, its gnashing teeth getting dangerously close as you struggled to keep it off of you.
Without hesitation Rick sprinted across the store, his urgency evident as he pulled out his knife. He slid across the counter and swiftly took down the standing walker. Wasting no time he grabbed the walker that was pinning you down and hurled it away from you. His blade sliced through the air once more, finishing it off.
You couldn’t move, remaining on the floor staring at the ceiling as Rick checked through the staff room for any others that may be lurking. You’d had close calls before but this was just careless. Your heart pounded in your chest as the gravity of what just happened surrounded you. You didn’t realise your ears were ringing until Rick reappeared in your vision, his mouth was moving but you couldn’t make out what he was saying.
Rick extended his steady hand to you, instinctually you reached for him and as his warm grip enveloped yours the ringing faded away. His touch grounded you in a way you hadn’t expected. With an effortless strength he helped you to your feet. Once you had steadied yourself, Rick's hands held onto your shoulders, ‘are you okay?’ he asked, a tenderness in his voice you hadn’t heard before.
You nodded slowly ‘it didn’t bite me,’ you managed to get out.
‘I know, but are you okay?’ he said more firmly, his eyes scanned over your face trying to read how you were feeling.
You nodded again, though you averted your eyes away from him. Suddenly feeling embarrassed by what you had done. Rick had trusted you to come out here with him and you couldn’t help but feel that you’d messed up.
He gently placed his hand on your lower back and guided you out of the store, grabbing your bags as he went. Once you were out in the sunlight he turned you and took a moment to scan your body for any wounds. You still avoided looking at him, not wanting to see the disappointment in his eyes.
If only you did look up, you’d see nothing but care etched on his face. He led you to the truck and opened the door for you to climb in, his eyes not leaving you once no matter how much you avoided looking in his direction.
The ride back was filled with a thick tension. You could feel Rick glancing over to you throughout the journey but you kept your eyes set firmly staring out of the passenger window. Any hope you had of today being the day you finally spoke to Rick to work out your feelings was completely gone. You’d settled with the fact you would now be avoiding him, nothing but embarrassment flowed through you as you thought about what had happened.
Rationally you knew you shouldn’t have felt embarrassed, if anything you should feel relief that everything unfolded as it did. You should be happy that you were still here, still sat in this truck, headed back to the safety of the prison.
Luckily for you the journey went by without a hitch and before long the prison gates had come back into view. Once the truck was safely parked inside you didn’t waste any time jumping out and rushing inside. You ignored Rick calling your name, needing to put as much distance between yourself and him.
Rick stood beside the truck and watched you disappear inside. He sighed, wishing he knew what words to say to you. The weight of what had happened and whatever was going on between the two of you surrounded him as he thought about the best way to approach you.
Tumblr media
You’d somehow managed to avoid talking to anyone for the remainder of the day. You’d made your way out to one of the unused watchtowers, thinking everything over as the sun began to slowly disappear over the treeline. The memory of the walker falling on top of you played over and over in your mind, you’d never come so close to being bitten before.
You sighed, how had you become so careless? Allowing yourself to put your guards down. Your mind, once again, changed to Rick. The man that had been consuming your every thought, distracting you without even trying.
You replayed the moment he came to your aid. You were still battling with your embarrassment but gratitude had mingled into your emotions as well. If anything you were now more embarrassed by your actions following the incident, you hadn’t even thanked Rick for saving your life.
Rick’s protectiveness had struck a chord within you, deep down you knew he wouldn’t be upset with you over what had happened. You knew you should seek him out and apologise for your behaviour. He didn’t deserve to be dismissed the way you had. You decided you’d approach him in the morning, feeling that would be your best chance to get him alone.
Although you wouldn’t have to wait that long, the sound of someone ascending the steps of the watchtower echoed around you. You didn’t move, remaining seated looking out at the horizon. You knew who it was going to be before they even made it to the top, and mentally prepared yourself for the conversation to come.
Rick approached you quietly, taking a seat next to you without saying a word. You were pleased the tension from the truck ride had disappeared. The two of you sat in silence, and you appreciated that Rick wasn’t putting any pressure on you to talk. The evening breeze carried a chill, but the warmth coming from the man beside you wrapped around you. The changing colours of the sky created a peaceful backdrop to your quiet moment.
You chanced looking over to him and found him to already be looking over to you. The fading light cast a subtle glow on his face. His gaze was soft and filled you with comfort.
‘Rick I’m sorr-‘ you began, but he cut you off before you could finish.
‘That next word had better not be an apology.’ He said firmly, causing you to snap your mouth shut.
‘I should be the one apologising, I should’ve been more careful. We should’ve stayed together and I left you alone, that’s not something I can brush off. It’s on me that things got dicey in there.’ He sighed as his eyes filled with regret before continuing, ‘if you’d of gotten hurt I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself.’
How could he be blaming himself for this? Had he been feeling the same as you since that moment?
‘Rick it wasn’t your fault, you don’t have to blame yourself for my mistake,’ you tried to tell him but he was already shaking his head.
Rick’s eyes bored into yours, showing a vulnerability you’d never seen before. He uttered your name and continued ‘you don’t understand, I was selfish. I just wanted… I wanted to spend time with you. You were out there because of me.’ His words hung in the air, and your mind raced trying to process the weight of what he was saying. Before you could even think of a response he carried on. ‘Earlier when I thought I could lose you... I-I saw you being taken from me and I knew I’d do anything to make sure that didn’t happen.’
The air around you seemed to grow thicker at Rick’s admission. The realisation that he thought he could have lost you cleared any lingering confusion. Everything became clear to you as neither one of you broke eye contact. Any words you’d prepared to say left you in that moment.
Neither of you could look away even if you wanted to. Slowly he leant forward, and as months of uncertainty faded your lips pressed together. Warmth instantly blossomed in your chest at the feeling of his soft lips. His scent wrapped around you as his stubble tickled your face. You relished in it all, hoping to stay in this moment forever.
You hadn’t even noticed his hands gently holding your face until he pulled back ever so slightly. Not far enough that your lips weren’t touching, just enough to murmur ‘I swear I’ll keep you safe, no matter what. Always.’
‘I am safe Rick,’ you kissed him again before adding ‘with you.’ You brought your hands up to wrap around his neck as you kissed him again, pouring all your unsaid words into it, needing him to understand.
It could have been hours you stayed up there kissing, lost in each other's embrace. Time completely faded away as you kissed under the moonlight sky. The world may have fallen to utter chaos, but at least you’d found everything you could ever want in Rick Grimes.

Day Seven: Rick Grimes + Virginity
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The longest crush you had ever had on someone was the guy who lived across the street. Your dads best friend for years now. They both at the sheiff department. Cruisers partners.
You aren't sure how it managed to be just the two of you in your backyard but as your stared at him catching the sun rays in the sexiest way. You felt you body tingle the same way it always did when you looked at him. His deputy unirform hugging him all in the best ways possible.
But right now he was just hanging at your house his son at his mothers for the next few weeks at least until summer break was over. Your own classes long over and you didn't start back up at uni until the fall. A whole great, long summer to oglle over your crush.
Your father was on duty, and had asked Rick to come over and make sure that you were getting on okay since you just managed to get all your stuff out of thier bags and get settled into the summer.
Your body floated in the water as you let the sun soak into your body with ease. It wasn't until you heard shuffle from above the water did you look up towards where Rick was sitting before. He was no longer there rather now he was sitting at the edge of the pool his legs dipping into the pool water.
Blue swim trunks that caught your eyes the seconds you opened the front doors. Southern words that dripped from his mouth. "Do you mind if'i just use your pool for afew?" You nodded, but now here you were.
"You look like you're enjoying yourself sweetheart." Rick commented. He had always used that nickname. Ever since you had lived across from him, that was now at least ten years ago. Now you were twenty-two and still waiting for him to just drop to his knees and beg that you were all he needed.
Dreams are always better in your head.
You hummed, "It's better then the stupid cold dorms at the uni." You said. He nodded and watched as you went back to sun bathing on top the water. You didn't hear him slip into the water.
A tap on your shoulder brought you out of your daze. "Rick?" You muttered as you shifted in the water. "You know you haven't said much about your time in the city. Why don't you tell me all about it." Rick is coaxing you, but you're so dumb you follow along. Ignorant to the way he's circling you, the way he's been eyeing you from his seat at the pools side.
"There isn't much to tell, exams went well, and my roomate brings every guy she mets back to the dorm so studyin' is a bitch." You shrug the last bit off. The words leave a bad taste in your mouth. "What do you mean sweetheart? You aren't beinging any lucky guys home… I mean um back to your dorm?" You shake your head water flinging to other parts of the pool.
"Oh, please I don't believe that." Rick tries, "You don't have a boyfriend, or girlfriend if you're into that sorta thing. Fine by me sweetheart." You chuckle surprised partially by his questions, but most surpised by how Rick hasn't realized that are not anybody's type.
"No I'm not really anyone's um type… guys don't really want a virgin…" Your hands smakes over your mouth
"Look I'm sorry I didn't mean…" From up to this point Rick had kept his distance, but now he was crepping closer and closer to your body. "No need to be ashamed sweetheart, this is not something that has to happen the minute you get out of high school, and anyways some guys don't how to treat a girl like you." Rick mumbles on as he activly pushes you up towards the wall of the pool.
"What do you mean?" You ask. A smirk grows on his face, "I just mean that you need an experinced man is all." "Like… um like you?" You ask, confindence coming out of nowhere. He nods, he whispers into your ear real close, "I see the way you look at me. Doe like fuckable eyes that you've got sweetheart." Even though the water is warm around you his words send shivers down your spine. "Will…' you bite your bottom lip as your back hits the wall. "Will you teach me then, Rick?" You're not begging but the way you melt agasint him and the wall says otherwise.
Smirking "Of course sweet thing." He says as his hands get to work under the water. Your binki top is off in a few seconds and the bottoms float to the top of the water. "Now that's much better, you've been showing yourself off to me ya know." You shake your head. His hands ghost over your tummy, and up to your breasts. Grabbing a hand full before falling in to kiss your chap lips. He moans into it and your melt into his touch.
Unaware of the hard on growing in his swim trunks. "You want me to fuck you good sweetheart?" He mumbles into your lips. You nod and moans as his fingers start to play with your clit. A new sensation washing over you. You brain becomes fuzzy as the feeling washes over you. Your head falls back over your shoulder blades.
"I gotta get you all nice and wet for me sweet heart. Can't go breakin' my brand new toy can I?" He plays with your clit until he's satisfied with both you and himself. He doesn't even get out of his truck just still them down his tan thighs. "This is gonna hurt, but baby that just means you'll end up lovin' the feeling." You brace yourself as the tip of his cock prods at your clit, and moans fall from your lips. The next thing you know without a hesitation or warning he's slipping his cock to the hilt. Your sobs are silent as you try to get used to the feeling. "Oh sweet jesus, Rick you feel… oh shit Mr. Grimes." You can't handle the thought of words, the sensation of his cock as the pain subsides.
He fucks you nice, and slow until he wants more from you. Moaning into the hot summer air. You aren't even worried about your father catching you, or what the neighbors might think you're just glad that right now he's fucking you so good you can't even remember what the hell your name is.
"Yeah come on darlin'… I can feel it coming squeezing me so tight I can barly move." His words are sending you closer and closer to the edge. "Y/n, sweet heart.… I want ya to cum all over my cock okay, can you do that for me? Can you do that for your dad's best friend? Can you be my dirty little virgin slut?" His words send you over the edge, and everything goes white. Your hands squeeze at Rick's shoulders and your legs wrap around his waist.
"Not gonna let go are ya?" His moans turn into groans and his grip on your hips turns into a death grip. His head falls between your shoulder and neck as his thursts become hard, and chatoic. He cum deep inside you and doesn't let go of you until he slips out of you, and looks at how fucked out you look.
Rick can worry abou the consquence later.

TEN. no surprises ; sam wilson. the two of you go off to look for wanda, supposedly in a quaint little town called westview. but in a blink of an eye—you’re a smiling housewife and sam is your loving husband, trapped in a house that didn’t quite feel like home.
ELEVEN. lucky ; theon greyjoy.  he thinks you look so very pretty laying on the snow, frost clinging to your lashes.
TWELVE. the tourist ; benedict bridgerton. it was typical of him, of course. to fall in love with the traveling artist with keen eyes and calloused hands.

Tomorrow's promise
Paring: Daryl Dixon x reader, Rick Grimes × sister reader
Warning: Swearing
Chapter: 3.02
Hearing a racket coming from somewhere in the prison, you lift your gun and aim it towards the doors leading to your cell block. When the noise gets closer, you look at Beth and say, “Take Jace and Carl with you into one of the cells, and don’t come out unless you know it’s safe.”
“Open the door! It’s Hershel!”
Hearing Rick’s voice, you immediately open the gate. Glenn, Maggie, and Stick Wheel Hershel, who’s lying on his back, passed out on a metal table. It’s not until you hear Beth screaming for her daddy that you realize Hershel’s leg is gone.
You and Carol help transfer him onto one of the beds. “What happened?”
“He was bit.”
“Carl, go get the towels from the back, right next to my bed,” Lori says, before turning to Beth, who is still holding your son. “Beth, sweetheart, go wait with Jace in the next cell.”
With everyone crowded around the bed, it was tight and chaotic. You look outside the cell and notice Daryl standing outside the cell block and reloading his crossbow. You take the keys from the gate and throw them onto the floor behind you, so only your people can reach them, and you shut the gate so you’re on the outside with Daryl.
Without saying a word, you stand beside him and point your gun in the same direction.
Out of the darkness of the hallway, five men dressed in prison jumpsuits walk in. The one at the front had a particular devilish look about him; he reminds you of what serial killers looked like on crime shows you used to watch.
Daryl aims his weapon at the man’s head, saying, “That’s far enough.”
“Cell block C,” the man says. “Cell four—that's mine, Gringo. Let me in.”
“Today’s your lucky day, fellas. You’ve been pardoned by the State of Georgia. You’re free to go.”
Three out of the five men look afraid as the tension rises. Hopefully, other survivors living in the prison meant there was food and water. Background voices become more obvious as you hear Carol instruct the others on how best to care for Hershel.
“What have you got going on in there?”
“It ain’t none of your concern,” Daryl says.
“Don’t be telling me what’s my concern.” When Jace starts to cry, the man takes a step forward. “You got a baby back there?”
You click the safety off your gun and say, “Take one more step, and I’ll blow your head off.”
He holds up his hands and whistles, “And you must be the baby mama.”
Daryl takes a step closer to him and says, “Back the fuck off now.”
“And who are you? The baby's father?” The man pushes loose strands of his greasy dark hair back and grins at you. “She doesn’t need defending; you see that crazed look in her eyes?”
You make a tsk sound with your tongue. Stupid man. You keep your aim firmly on the man and say, “I think it’s time you leave.”
“Hey, we ain’t leaving.”
T-dog appears beside you, his gun aimed at the same man, who appeared to be the leader of the small group of survivors. “You ain’t coming in either.”
“Hey, this is my house; these are my rules. I'll go where I damn well please.”
Hearing Jace’s cries become louder, you start to feel distressed, but under no circumstances are you going to lower your gun. Daryl senses your unease, and with one hand firmly on his weapon, he uses the knuckles on his free hand to knock on one of the tables. Alerting Rick and the others that something was wrong.
Rick comes running around the corner, his jaw clenching as he takes in the scene. He leans into your ear and says, “I need you back on the other side in case Hershel doesn’t make it.”
“Got it.”
You keep your gun up as you slowly walk backwards until you reach the gate, and Carl opens it. You step inside, your eyes falling on Jace, who is wailing in Glenn’s arms. You take your baby from your friend's arms and gently grab Carl’s arm. “Stay away from the gate; I don’t care what you hear, but you’d open it, okay?”
He looks up at you, confused. “What’s going on?”
You usher him into the bunk you’re sleeping in. You were afraid gunshots would go off at any moment, and you wanted the children out of the way of any stray bullets.
“How’s he holding up?"
Hershel’s breath was wheezy, and the sheets below him were soaked with blood. Carol looks up at you and says, “We managed to stop the bleeding, and he has no fever.”
“That’s a good sign.”
“But his pulse is way down, and his breathing is labored.” With blood-covered hands, Lori wipes her nose with her arm. “Where’s Carl?”
“In my cell with Jace, I thought it was best they stayed in there for now until we know the other survivors aren’t coming back.”
She nods and says, “Thank you.”
Hearing footsteps, you step back outside the bunk and see T-dog and Rick carrying boxes. Glenn opens the gate and lets them in. “What’s in the boxes?”
“Canned beef, canned corn, canned cans. There’s a lot more where this came from,” T-dog says.
“Where’s Daryl?”
“Keeping an eye on our new housemates,” Rick says before having a private conversation with Lori.
You feel sick with fear knowing that Daryl is outnumbered. He was good at self-defense, but enough to take on five men? You silently prayed that he didn’t need to find out.
You walk back up to your bunk and watch as Jace sleeps peacefully, his chubby cheeks pressed against Carl's arm. In a short space of time, Jace looks more like Shane; he has his father's dark brown eyes and thick dark brown hair. You lean your head against the bars and keep watch as he sleeps.
“Hey, munchkin,” you wave Carl over to you. It was your turn to keep watch over Hershel, who was now handcuffed to the bed as a precaution.
He pouts, “You going to yell at me too?”
During the madness of everything going on, Carl managed to slip in and out of the cell and into the infirmary without anybody noticing. He brought all the medical equipment he could find back with him, but when Lori told him off for going alone, he stormed off. You felt bad for your nephew; he was just a confused boy who didn’t understand why he was still being treated like a kid but was expected to act like an adult.
“No,” you say, kissing him on the cheek. “But please don’t do that again; I need you here.”
“Yeah, right,” he sulks.
“I need you to help me keep Jace safe… Oh shit!” Panic starts to take over when Hershel stops breathing. “Lori! Maggie!”
You struggle to remember any CPR training as your mind scrambles. Glenn and Carol had gone outside for some unknown reason, leaving you at a disadvantage.
“Do something!” Beth yells from the doorway. “Do something, please!”
You take a deep breath, pinch his nose, and breathe into his mouth. Lori rushes into the bunk and says, “Carl, go wait with your cousin.”
Lori begins compressions on his chest. You continue doing this until Hershel suddenly lunges forward, and Lori pulls you back. It’s not until he lets out a snoring sound that you know he’s alive.
You pinch the bridge of your nose, trying not to sigh in frustration. Overall, it had been a good day; Hershel was still alive, there was enough food to last for a couple of months, and your group was unharmed by the inmates in the prison, but yet your mood has dropped significantly due to your tiredness. Every time you dozed off, Jace would wake up, or you’d see Shane in your dreams. You groan, feeling wetness seeping through your top and onto your skin. You only had a few tops, and all of them smelled horrendously with months worth of blood, sweat, and spit up covering them. Frustrated, you pull your top off, pour water from your water bottle onto it, and start scrubbing at it with a cloth, trying your best to be quiet since everyone else was sleeping.
Sighing, you watch Jace roll onto his stomach and crawl towards you. With a smile, you stroke his cheek and say, “you’re such a smart boy.”
You freeze when you hear a creak of a footstep behind you. Turning to look towards the doorway, your eyes lock on Daryl, who was standing there watching you, clutching something black in his hand.
When you twist your body further around, he looks at the ground, and you suddenly remember that it’s just your bra covering your top half. When heat flushes your face, you quickly grab a pillow and use it to cover your breasts. In a hushed tone, you ask, “Is everything okay?”
“Yeah.”
“Did I wake you?”
“I couldn’t sleep. I came down earlier and saw the little man throwing up on you, so I thought you might need this.”
He hands you one of his tops. “Are you sure? It will probably smell extremely gross without the hour.”
He smiles and says, “Yeah, it’s fine.”
“Thanks.”
You face the wall again and put the top on. On closer inspection, you realize you’d seen Daryl wear this before; it was a dark navy blue button-up top with long sleeves. It was oversized on you but comfortable, and it was far cleaner than anything in your bag.
Daryl leans against the doorframe. “Mind if I hang a little bit?”
“Yeah, that would be nice.”

The way Rick got nervous with michonne before asking is the cutest. Even after all that distance and time apart he’s still that guy that’s floored and can’t believe how lucky he is to have her.
his nervousness was so cute and had me clutching my hands to my chest like a little old lady because on the one hand. rick. sweetie. she literally never moved on after nearly a decade of having every reason to believe you were dead and then almost died trying to find you and refused to leave when you were acting NUTS did you really think she would say no?? BUT. on the other hand. of course rick grimes, historically known for thanking michonne for merely existing, considers getting to marry her another gift he would be lucky to receive. of course he would never take her for granted and assume anything. of course he's nervous because how could he possibly ask for more? after all she's done for him, how could he possibly deserve her? despite everything, he's still just guy standing in front of a girl asking her to marry him. RICK GRIMES THE ONLY MAN. if there is anyone worthy of michonne, it's him.

Rick Grimes x Reader
Rick gets busy and accidentally starts neglecting your relationship.
||CW|| None really, just fluff, a little angst mention of cheating (it doesn’t actually happen Ricks a loyal lover)
AFAB/GN reader, reader has no mentioned gender
Rick had been really busy, going on runs, making plans, running Alexandria. Just doing typical leader stuff.
Him doing all of that left barely any time for your relationship, and that was starting to upset you.
At first you tried ignoring it. You understood that he had important things to do, especially to keep everything going and keep everyone alive.
But it was getting to the point that you saw him for (if you were lucky) maximum 30 minutes a day.
He had stopped coming to bed even when he was in Alexandria, always opting to sleep where the planning was going on, or the jobs were located so he was closer and able to be alert.
This started worrying you, the ideas of him cheating started crossing your mind. It was stupid to even think that he would do such a thing, you knew that. Rick was a loyal, trustworthy man, but he still wasn’t putting very much into your relationship at the moment.
You were angry, but you knew you needed to talk to him. You didn’t know when you would be able to do that, or how you would do it without letting your emotions get the best of you.
A couple of days later, you heard the front door open and close, and heavy footsteps walk in. At first you thought it was Daryl who had been in and out of the house for the last couple of days, getting his gear ready for a run, but you soon recognized them to be Ricks.
You were standing at the kitchen island cutting vegetables for a stew Carol was planning on making for dinner.
Rick saw you as soon as he walked in, walking over to you to greet you. “Hey, darlin’.” He mumbled, moving behind you and wrapping his arms around your waist.
“You sound tired.” You said plainly, continuing to cut the vegetables.
“You mad at me?” He asked, loosening his arms around you.
“No-” you paused. Your whole body tensing up beneath his arms.
“Really?” He questioned, and it felt like he knew you were, and why you were.
This made you feel like you had to tell him now. So you did.
“Maybe.” You continued your movements of chopping the vegetables.
“Why darlin’?” He asked calmly, reaching up to rub at your shoulders.
“You’ve been gone for weeks. You haven’t been to bed in what’s felt like forever and you’ve barely spoken to me Rick! I don’t know where you’ve been or what you’ve been doing!” You shout the last sentence out of frustration, dropping the knife onto the cutting board.
"I'm sorry darlin'. I know I've been all over the place recently. Everyone’s always needin’ somethin’ and you know how that goes.” He says, squeezing his arms tighter around you again.
“You could’ve at least came by and updated me on whatever was going on.” You replied, unraveling his arms from you and turning to look at him.
He could see how much it bothered you. Your eyes conveying your emotions more than you would’ve liked them to.
“C‘mere.” He said, grabbing your wrists and guiding you away from the kitchen island. He guided you up the stairs and to your shared bedroom.
“What Rick?” You asked, not knowing exactly what he was getting at. He had turned away from you digging in his side of the dresser.
“Put this on.” He said, suddenly throwing one of his shirts at you.
“Why?” You asked, looking at him confused.
“Just do it.” He responded, pulling out a pair of his sweats.
So you did, when you finished putting on his shirt, you realized he had changed out of his day clothes and into something he would normally sleep in, that being just a pair of sweats and no shirt.
He climbed into the bed, and motioned for you to come over.
“Rick what’re you doing?” You asked again.
“What does it look like sweetheart? I’m tryin’ to make up for missed time.” He responded. “I’m exhausted from the last few weeks, I just wanna hold you.” He added, now doing grabby hands towards you since you hadn’t come over when he motioned.
You finally walked over and joined him, climbing into the bed beside him.
When you did he quickly wrapped his arms around your figure and pulled you into his arms.
You immediately loosened up at the contact, melting into it.
“I missed you, missed this.” He mumbled, nuzzling his face into your neck.
“I did too, but you realize I’m supposed to be getting to veggies ready for Carol right now, right?” You responded pulling away to look at his face.
“They looked ready to me.” He responded with a shrug.
“Well they weren’t, so if she yells at me you’re going to have to save me.” You laugh.
“I will don’t worry.” He responds closing his eyes.
You watched him doze off, he was always handsome in this peaceful state. As time went on you fell asleep shortly after.
This apology still wasn’t exactly enough and he knew that. He was just saving the rest of his apology for when he wasn’t as tired wink wink.
(Part 2 perhaps for the rest of the apology?)

Till THE DEAD do us part | Chapter 8
Tumblr media
A/N: This story will take place in all the seasons, but it’s not exactly a rewriting cause I’d have to re-watch everything to use the exactly lines of the characters, also I think it’s better if I tell a side story without changing the main facts of the story.
This story has a Female Reader, but I don’t describe her appearance, so anyone can identify with her.
Chapter 7 Chapter 9
Chapter 8: Because it’s you
Summary: Rick finds Y/N and Daryl sleeping all cozy and cuddling. The Grimes’ Siblings have a heart to heart conversation and make sure to each other that they care and that they’re there. While the group go train with guns, Y/N and Daryl pass some time together that brings some answers but also more questions for then. Some secrets a revealed.
Warnings: swearing, little angsty, violence, mentions of violence, mentions of cheating, mentions of pregnancy, mentions of abortion, a hot kiss 🥵 . Minors do not interact. (If I forget anything else, let me know)
Pairing: Daryl Dixon x Grimes!Reader (Rick’s Sister)
Word Count: 4,806
Extra notes: I proofread the text, but English is not my first language, so feel free to correct any mistakes, of course with love. I’m consulting a timeline of everything that happened, but it can happen that I put events out of order, but I don’t think it’ll make much difference in the story. ALSO, I’m praying my Daryl isn’t too out of character.
Tumblr media
Rick didn’t see you be so comfortable around a man like you were with Daryl for many years, and the archer wasn’t the type he would judge to enjoy cuddles. Also, he couldn’t help but feel concerned about you, he already saw everything… he knew you were falling for Dixon and also knew that you didn’t do any of this love, relationship thing or even anything casual for years. He was afraid you’d get hurt or have mixed feelings. He feared to see you ‘destroyed’ like you were in the past and he couldn’t afford that, specially now that the world was upside down.
Daryl or you didn’t seem to wake up, so he cleared his throat again, this time louder and exaggerated. Daryl woke up startled and saw Rick at the end of the room looking at both of you. To say Daryl was embarrassed wasn’t the correct word to describe what he was feeling at the moment. “Wake her up.” Rick asked, ordered, him.
“Y/N” Daryl called for you squeezing your arm a little.
Nothing.
“Y/N/N” he called again, you hummed snuggling a little more into him. Blush ran to his cheeks, you weren’t making his job easy.
“Puppy” he called the nickname he gave you, but cringed a little about using it in front of Rick. Daryl was looking at you, so lucky him, he couldn’t see Rick’s bitchy facial expression of ‘seriously, you already have pet names?’.
You opened your eyes and were surprised to see his face looking at you, so all the coziness you were feeling was him. You couldn’t help but give a sleepy smile. “Morning D. Sorry for cuddling you, but I have to say, there’s a long time I don’t sleep this good.”
“Er… no problem…” he just wanted to disappear, Rick was watching all of this and he couldn’t just not answer you.
Rick cleared his throat again and you jumped startled at the noise and looked in direction of the noise. “Jesus! Rick! You scared the hell out of me! Why are you being all creepy and watching we sleep?” You said, your heart was beating fast because of the scare. Very reluctantly you left Daryl’s embrace and sat on the bed.
“I… I wasn’t watching you.” Rick was embarrassed and got moody with the situation. “I came to see how the two of you were. Apparently, you’re pretty good.”
“We were just sleeping Rick. And it’s probably my fault, you know that I move a lot in bed.” You said, and it wasn’t a lie. He knew, when you were younger and needed to share a bed, you ended kicking and stealing his covers and sheets. In fact he was surprised you didn’t steal Daryl’s sheets.
“I know. Really. Just embarrassed to find you two all cozy and cuddling.” He confessed.
“Man, I was respectful I swear.” Daryl sat holding the sheets to his chest. He felt like a teenager being caught with his girlfriend by her dad, the only thing is they were not teenagers, she wasn’t his girlfriend and they didn’t make anything.
“I know Daryl, it’s ok.” But wasn’t ok, he was worried as fuck and already had many problems to solve and still he had to deal with his younger sister and make sure she wasn’t going to bring trouble to herself. “Also, Carl is already on his feet and I think you two can go back to the camp and end the recovery, we shouldn’t abuse the hospitality we’re receiving.”
“Ok, so I guess I fucked up a little bit and Hershel isn’t happy.” You concluded.
“Yes.” Rick confirmed. “You two should rest to recover. Daryl I brought you a clean shirt.” He threw the shirt to Daryl, that catched it immediately. ‘Awww’, you thought, ‘Rick is so cosiderate about D.’
“Alright, thanks.” Daryl answered and then looked to you, he didn’t want you to see. You knew it.
“So, I guess it’s my time to leave.” You got up of the bed. “I wonder what we might have for breakfast today.”
After you had breakfast Rick and you went to your tent so you could talk. You were worried about this conversation, because you didn’t do anything wrong in your eyes. Rick was anxious and also worried about everything, he wanted to protect you and everyone, but how could he protect you when he barely made time for you.
“So…” you tried encouraging him to start the conversation.
“I never saw you so out of control as I saw yesterday. I’m not saying she didn’t deserved, but that’s not you.” He started, you had to take a deep breath to not over react.
“Maybe, I didn’t have the courage before but now I have. Maybe, this is who I should be in this world. I’m not talking about hurting or sacrificing innocent people, but… if I can’t defend or protect the ones I care about, what am I supposed to do, Rick? Let the people do whatever they want with me and with the ones I love?” You took a look at his deep blue eyes and they were sad, and you hated to see he directing this look at you, you’d rather have him angry at you than see sadness in his eyes.
“Andrea is part of our group, actions like that will just separate all of us and it’ll be difficult for both of you to live with each other.”
“Well, so is Daryl. And guess what? She could have killed him. She didn’t because she doesn’t even know how to hold a damn gun correctly, but she could have hit him. And then, what would we do? Accept her apologies and her destructive behavior, and keep going? It could have been anyone Rick, it could have been me, Lori or even Carl! What would you do?” You felt alone again, like even having your brother back let you in the loneliness. You didn’t know anymore if you were wrong or right, you just knew that no one could hurt who you cared and go with no punishment.
“I don’t know, it didn’t happen.” He said, he didn’t know what he would do. Otis for example he could have killed him or beat him, but he didn’t, and even by accident he hurt the most precious person in the world for him. “She just lost her sister Y/N/N, you can understand it better than anybody else.”
“Well, I didn’t became an uptight bitch that goes around making shit and putting people in danger.”
“You were not alone. She is…” You talked before he finished, because you couldn’t take it.
“You weren’t there Rick, you have no idea of how lonely I was.” Just remembering made tears come to your eyes, you looked down trying to hide it. You didn’t want him to know, but you had already said the words. You heard his breath, he was probably choosing the words to say.
“Shane and Lori…” you felt a knowing pain in your chest and slowly brought your eyes back to him. Did he knew? You waited him to complete. “You were lonely because they were… having something?”
“Did you know?” Your voice was shook and you knew your tears were about to fall.
“I’m not dumb Y/N. I could see the signals. I-I can’t blame them, I was dead to them…” He also had teary eyes, and you knew how it pained him.
You hugged him and let him cry, and you cried too. All the tears you still had to drop since the day you discovered you were alone and you hadn’t had your brother to hug and tell you it was going to get better. God! You didn’t want to see when he discovered Lori’s pregnancy, it is… if she was going to tell him. He hugged you back and could finally bring all his emotions about it out, he had all of this stuck in his chest since the quarry and he didn’t have the time to deal with all this.
“I’m sorry.” You said, he was probably alright with the fact that you didn’t told him, but you had to tell how sorry you were. “It was so lonely, I couldn’t understand, because I was still mourning you and… when I discovered I… I couldn’t cause a scene, I couldn’t confront them… not with Carl there and I had nobody, I only had…”
“Daryl.” He said, he pulled from your embrace and looked at your face sweeping the tears you still had on your face. “Was that the moment you got closer to him?”
You just nodded, that was the moment and now you knew that another speech was coming. If this kind of conversation was already embarrassing with the women in the group… you should brace yourself because it wasn’t going to be better with your brother.
“Yes, I mean… I already knew him, but we didn’t interacted much. Till the day I told you he found me in the woods…”
“He’s a good man.” He said and it surprised you, you were not expecting it. “He’s just… rough on the edges.”
“I thought you were goind to lecture me.” You said relieved.
“I’m not. You’re a grown woman. I’m just a few years older, I should stop treating you like a kid.” He said, and you smiled at him. You knew it was being difficult for him, it seemed like Shane and him would always see you like the annoying little sister that would try to go with them everywhere. “But it doesn’t mean, I don’t worry or care about you.”
You continued in silence, cause you knew more were to come, he had just started. And to be honest you didn’t know what to say in the moment.
“Don’t say you’re just friends.” You remained silent just waiting for what he had to say. “The way you look at each other? This is not what friends do. Also, I see how he’s protective of you, and after yesterday I have no doubt you’re of him too.”
“Well, I’d do the same for any other friend.” You tried to find an excuse.
“You look as you have the hots for each other.”
“He’s an attractive man, what should I do? Take my eyes out?” Rick wasn’t buying your bullshit, so he had to use his last card to make you talk seriously to him.
“I saw you two making out at the CDC.” He dropped the bomb. HE REMEMBERED. Your eyes got wide and he knew now he got you in this conversation. “You were sleeping like a couple today.”
“Rick…”
“It has been many years since I saw you get this close to a man, and don’t get me wrong what I want the most is for you to be happy, to live even in this shitty world… you passed all these years without being in any kind of romantic relationship, not even casual. And now it’s like you jumped from an airplane with no parachute and I’m just afraid you’ll hit the ground and it’ll torn you to pieces.”
“Rick, I… I don’t know how to explain, I just can’t stay away from him, and it feels so right to spend time with him, talk to him, NOT talk to him… it’s like a chain reaction and I can’t control. All this years, I never felt like this.” You confessed, but you didn’t wanted to tell the words that scared you so much. There wasn’t even 3 months you knew him, and it felt already like a lifetime of emotions. “And… he’s such a good person and he doesn’t see it. He doesn’t know how good he is.”
“You know what all of this is. When you were trying to justify your actions towards Andrea, you used the word love.” You were surprised, because you didn’t remember it, you just told Rick whatever came to your mind. “I just ask you to be careful, I’ll not try to prohibit you from experiencing life, just take care… and please, please close doors or whatever when you decide to make out with him again.” He gave you a half smile and you couldn’t help but smile back.
“Rick, I don’t want to put names on what I feel, not yet. Thank you for talking and to go easy on me, I was expecting a whole lecture like Shane used to give me back at the quarry. But I forget that you’re best friends, not the same person.” You squeezed his hand, you were happy you could have a heart to heart conversation like in the old days. You missed it and you barely had time to have it with him after he came back. “You know, you can come to me whenever you need to talk. Don’t burden yourself, share it with me.”
“Thanks.” He said and prepared himself to leave. “I love you, you know right?”he turned to you before leaving.
“I love you too big bro.” You gave him a smile, you were so glad to have him back. He left and you stayed a little bit more in your tent, it was strange to be alone when you were always surrounded with people or with Luna, who at the moment was entertaining Carl.
While everyone, or almost everyone was going to learn how to use the guns, you couldn’t do anything but stay in the farm. You were clearly bored, with nothing to do. You decided to pay Daryl a visit. When you arrived to his tent he was laying there, also bored as fuck. “Come in” he said just as if he was really in a room or a house.
You entered his tent and sat on the floor, the injured leg straight, while the good one you brought to your chest and rested your chin on it. “Are you also bored?” He obviously were, you just wanted to make conversation.
“Bored’s not the correct word to describe it.” He talked while he spin an arrow on his hand. “Andrea came here earlier to apologize. Ya really were tough on her. Nasty job ya did.”
“Thanks?! I guess…” were he complimenting you or did he think you overreacted? “Did you accept her apologies?”
“Yeah, I mean… I ain’t dead. She was just trying to protect the group.” You scoffed in disbelief, even him?
“Good thing I don’t have a good heart like yours.” You stated, because you were still pretty much angry at the woman.
“Did Rick give you the lecture?” He was curious to know what happened in your conversation, but he was also apprehensive of what was the outcome of it.
“Yes, and No…”
“Or he did or he didn’t.” He said, there’s no way to happen both at the same time.
“Yes, he tried to lecture me about the fight yesterday, but he listened to my reasons.” You laid down on your side, head resting in your arm and observed him. “He couldn’t convince me I was wrong, but I also couldn’t convince him I was right.”
“I forgave her, but she deserved. Ya were slightly right.” Slightly? Why? Did he really think you shouldn’t have done that?
“Or I’m right or I ain’t, Dixon.” You mimicked what he said before.
“Are ya mad at me?” He turned to you.
“I’m not.” You answered avoiding his eyes.
“You’re pouting and called me Dixon.”
“Isn’t that your name?” You looked at him and he had a smirk on his face, you were cute. That was what he thought. When you were angry, but not when you were ‘I’m going to kill you’ angry, you were the cutest pretty thing he had ever seen. “What’s the smirk about?”
“Nothing…” he wouldn’t tell you how he thought you were cute, no, he couldn’t.
“Tell meeee! It’s something, I know.” You insisted, you poked him multiple times in hope to annoy him and get your answer.
“Stop!” You didn’t. “Stop!” He asked one more time, and you didn’t. So he took your pulse in his huge hand and yanked you, making you speechless, only a few inches apart from him and it was efficient to make you stop poking him.
“Daryl…” you said weakly, if you wasn’t this close to the archer he’d probably not listen.
“I was just thinking about how cute ya look.” He confessed, the words came from his mouth without thinking, and with the help of the little annoyance you were causing.
You scanned all of his face to see if he was joking, but you saw nothing. His face was serious and his eyes were soft. You were never this impulsive, but apparently the apocalypse was bringing it out of you. The first thought you had, was to just crash your lips on his and let it be, but you didn’t want to risk lose the close and comforting proximity you had right now. You looked from his lips to the wound he had on his forehead. You propped your elbow on the floor and curved to give him a delicate kiss where it was hurt, going back to the same position you were before.
“What ‘re ya doing?” He asked, not used to this kind of demonstration of affection, it was new to him. He couldn’t quite understand it, but at the same time he knew deep down that he kind of liked it.
“Kissing it better…” you answered, did he never had someone to kiss his boo boos when he was a kid? No, he didn’t and that was why he didn’t understand. He released the hand he was holding in his and put it on the side of your face caressing it, he looked at the scratch marks on your cheek and even with them he thought you were adorable.
He got a little bit closer to you and kissed your cheek, it was quick and tender, and made you all flushed. How could the all gruff Daryl be so soft. You moved your hand to his head and let your fingers run on his short hair, he closed his eyes in appreciation, his guard was down and he could just enjoy the sensation. Again you looked at his chapped lips and couldn’t help but come closer, your hot breath hitting his face making him open his eyes and look at you. Feeling his eyes on you, you looked back at his eyes waiting for some signal or even a voiced permission… he just looked down at your lips and you took that as your cue to close the gap between both of you.
Your lips delicately encountered taking your time and lazily kissing him, he reciprocated he was dreaming to repeat this moment again, to have the opportunity to kiss you one more time, and he qas so glad neither of you were drunk at the moment. At first it was just lips, just the delicious feeling of being so close to each other, feeling the mix of your bodies heat. Then Daryl licked your lips, he was the one to initiate it this time and you slightly opened your mouth giving him permission to deepen your kiss. It was slow and intimate but still sensual and intense. His hand descended to your waist holding a firm grip there, feeling a little of your skin as your shirt got a little up. You hummed in satisfaction with your intimacy and the heat of his big hand on your waist. You had a strong grip on his upper arm, holding yourself as if you could fall from somewhere. His other hand, close to the ground, stayed in your face caressing it with his thumb. While your other hand was resting on his chest. When the intensity of kiss was increasing he impulsively pulled your body against his, you gasped in surprise and with the sensation, while he winced in pain.
You felt it and broke the kiss, resting your forehead against his, heavy breathing on both ways. “Damn, forgot yesterday I got an arrow through me.”
“I’m sorry” you returned your hand to his hair.
“For what? For kissing me real good?” He raised his eyebrow and said with a teasing tone.
“For making you feel pain.”
“Nah, I was too enthusiastic.” He kept his arm around you, enjoying the feeling just like he enjoyed cuddling with you in bed. “Why d’ya keep kissing me?” No matter how much he liked when you did it, and how afraid he was to not have it anymore. He had to ask, because he didn’t want to be used just like Merle’s voice had said.
“Because it’s you.” You answered, you looked in his eyes and you saw confusion. He was trying to understand what you meant, because he never thought anyone would want him just because it was him. “I’m not doing this because I don’t have options, if that’s what you’re thinking. I… I had options in the old world, if I wanted to. But it have been years that I didn’t even do casual shit. So, what I want to say is that you aren’t just someone I want to have fun.” For a minute you thought you had said too much, that he’d distance from you, because who’s the freak that don’t have any kind of relationship for years? Well, you were.
“Who hurt you this bad, pup?” He looked at you with tenderness on his eyes, his hand lifted to put a lock of your hair behind your ear. A beautiful sweet young woman like you, all alone and in no relationship for all this years, something bad had happened, that was the only explanation. You were probably around his age, that was what he thought, maybe a couple of years younger, since you’re younger than Rick, but even like this, if you had more age, you’d still be all the things he thought about you. You looked like you’d age well.
“It doesn’t matter, the son of a bitch is probably already dead.” You hoped so. “Do you wanna me to stop being physical with you?” You had to ask, maybe he didn’t want you to continue, even though he seemed to enjoy it. Daryl and you had a lot of layers, but he had more and you’d hate if you crossed his boundaries.
“I don’t. I like yer company and… ya’know the thing that’s going on.” He also didn’t want to name things, just like you had said to Rick about yourself. He was also afraid, but at least for now he knew that hallucination Merle knew nothing about you or your group.
“Ok, so I’ll not stop.” You affirmed and put your arm around him, being careful to not touch where he was injured.
“Come here.” He used his right arm to bring you to him, making you rest your head between his shoulder and chest, you gladly accepted it, because you’ve never been as peaceful as you were in this morning by being on his arms. “So now, what we do?”
“We can take things slow, let’s cross each other’s boundaries when the time comes.” You said and looked at his face waiting for his answer.
“It sounds good to me.” He ran his fingers on your hair.
“Also, we should remember to close doors when we kiss or anything else. Rick told me he saw us back at the CDC.” Daryl almost choked on his saliva, just thinking about people catching them made him all embarrassed. This morning you were just hugging and he was an embarrassing mess because Rick caught you.
“Yep, we better close doors. Can’t stand being caught again.”
“Well, I wouldn’t mind if it meant you’d have blush on your cheeks. You’re cute when you are all shy.” You teased him, but you’d also feel better if your brother didn’t catch you making out with Daryl.
Soon, they came back from the shooting training and you only knew it because Luna invaded Daryl’s tent showering both of you with her love, which means licking you and swinging her tail happily. You took care for her not jump on Daryl because of his injuries, but she didn’t she was delicate when needed. It seemed as if she knew when she could and when she couldn’t do things.
“I think I’m going to take a walk and see how things went on training.” You said sitting up.
“Are ya gonna come back?” He asked fingers brushing your hand.
“Do you wanna me to come back?” You returned the question to him, just because you could, it didn’t mean you had to spend all time with him or that he wanted you around all the time.
“I want ya to come back.”
“So, I’m coming back.” You leaned in his direction and gave a peck on his lips before living, unfortunately not followed by Luna that decided to stay with the new love of her life.
When you found the others you learned Shane and Andrea had gone look for Sophia at an old abandoned compound. Glenn looked upset and Maggie seemed like she could kill someone. You looked for Rick and saw Lori and him far on the fields. ‘Why do I have the feeling that shit hit the fan?’, you thought. After some time they came back, but went separated ways afterwards. You saw the tension and approached Rick. “Hey! Rick! Is everything ok? You seem a little tense.”
He just hugged you, and for the second time that day he cried. “Lori’s pregnant…”
“Aren’t you happy? I mean, I understand the circumstances and all the questions about paternity, but this baby is going to be yours, right?” You caressed his back, maybe you shouldn’t have said the paternity thing.
“I’m happy, it’s… it’s mine, no matter what. It’s just… she tried to take the next day pills to abort, she didn’t even consult me.”
“She did what?” You got a little pissed, you know that a woman have the right to choose if they keep the pregnancy or not, but not telling Rick? He should at least know about her decision and also about the pregnancy before, they were married after all.
“She puked it, but… I wouldn’t even know if I didn’t found the pills in the tent or if she didn’t puke it.” You couldn’t understand well his feelings, but you tried to the maximum, because what Shane and her did, was already enough to shook him. “We’re gonna raise this baby and it’s gonna grow happy and well…”
“Yes, of course. We’re gonna love this baby so much, and protect it. It’ll have big crazy familly, but the baby will grow happy. There’s just one thing worrying me.” You said.
“What?” He looked at you concerned and worried that maybe you thought about something he didn’t.
“I’m not going to be the only aunt anymore, how can I be chosen the favorite with so many competition?”
He laughed, even with his teary eyes. He was expecting you to say something serious, and you came with the worry of not being the favorite aunt anymore. “Thank you.”
“I said you could always count on me, always.”
“We aren’t telling anyone yet, so I’d appreciate if you didn’t tell the others.” Well… it would be a little problem, because Glenn was the first to know about it, and you were almost certain that he probably already told Dale.
“Top secret, I’m not telling anyone.” ‘Maybe just Daryl’,you thought, ‘but he doesn’t talk much to anyone, so…’
Final Note: I know Daryl and Y/N gave a big big step with this one, cause they kinda admitted want to be physical with each other. But as we all know, Daryl has yet to mature a little and grow, well so does Reader.

Request: Carl gets lost on a scavenging trip and Reader, althought although she grew up well protected in Alexandria, goes to search for him on her own. In the end Carl has to save her and they get caught in a storm and have to seek shelter somewhere and spend the night and some fluff occurs, maybe more, as you like

You often wonder what dirt tastes like. Oh, you wondered what life outside of Alexandria was like. Was it terrifying? Were the stories about the flesh-eating monsters true? Well, now you know.
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
You watched as Carl was talking to his father, Rick Grimes. After Carl lost his eye, Rick had been a bit tense. But you understood that. Family is family. You saw Rick hand Carl a gun. You had your arms crossed. You were sitting on a bench, just watching the father-son duo talk. "Yeah, I'll be careful, Dad. It's not like I'm going to get bitten by a walker. So, chill." He reassured his worried father. "Teenagers," he scoffed. "Be careful, okay? I want you back here by five." Carl smiled and nodded. "Y/N," he turned to look at you, "don't do anything stupid till I get back." "How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you." He gave his father one last hug before walking out of the gates of Alexandria, your home. "You're staring." You turned your head and saw Enid. "Woah! No, hi or hello, Y/N, it's so great to see you," you mocked, making Enid roll her eyes. "You really gotta stop staring at Carl. He's the leader's son, for Christ's sake!" "Sorry, mom," you muttered under your breath. You got up from the bench and went back inside your house. You looked at your watch. It was one p.m. He should be back by six, just like Carl's father said. Hopefully, he will be back soon. You missed him. No, you barely know him. Idiot.

You've had enough of this. The adults were panicking; your friends were panicking, and so were you. But you had the guts to get up and find the eyeless boy. You were going to do it. You threw your hood up and sneakily started making your way to the armory. You'd never done this before. You had lived a very sheltered life in Alexandria. Hell, you didn't even know how to properly use a gun. Thanks to Deanna, you were a bit useless when it came to fighting. After all, you hadn't left the walls since the outbreak started. You were lucky to have found Deanna just two days after the world went to shit and blood. You opened the window and jumped in, quietly, of course. You quickly grabbed a gun and stuffed it into your backpack. You heard familiar voices outside the window. "I'll go, man. Anything for the kid." It was the deep and gruff voice of Daryl Dixon. You hadn't talked to him before because he seemed intimidating. But who knew that Daryl Dixon was just a big softie on the inside? "Nah, you ain't going to look for him. You're staying here. Me and Michonne will go. Take 'are of Alexandria, alright?" It was Rick Grimes, the father of Carl Grimes. "Fine. But if you ain't back, then I'm going after ya." You heard them start to walk away. You let out a sigh. If this was the kind of stuff the FBI did, then you wanted no part of it. But anything for Carl. He is your friend. You opened the window you used to come in and jumped out. You kept your hood up and ran.
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
When you were running, you also overheard Rick talking about where Carl went to scavenge. In your eyes, he was so brave. Carl was supposed to be scavenging for a bunch of stuff in an old neighborhood near Alexandria. You'd never been there before. You tripped over a rock. "Shit!" you exclaimed. You heard low growls coming from behind you. You looked behind you and saw four walkers. "Oh, shit." You scrambled to get up, but then again, you tripped over your foot and started falling down the road. At the bottom was a river. You used your leg to stop yourself from falling. You held onto a tree as you tried getting up. But again, you heard growls coming from behind you once more. You turned around and saw fifteen walkers. This is it. This was the end of your life. Y/N Y/L/N died to fifteen walkers who brutally dug into her stomach and ate her. "Oh, God. Help me." But it seemed like God wasn't listening. The wind began to pick up, and the rain started to pour in heavily. The sky has darkened to a deep shade of gray. You heard gunshots and ducked. And in a matter of seconds, the walkers fell one by one. "Woah! You look rough, girl. And didn't I tell you to not do anything stupid till I got back?" It was none other than Carl. "Oh, my. It's you! I've been looking for you for ages now. You idiot! You could have died!" You scolded like an angry mother. "Sorry, Y/N." Oh, but who could resist that adorably handsome face? "I got lost. I've been tryna find my way back to Alexandria too." You laughed. "The brave and bold-" You started coughing uncontrollably. "Poor thing." He walked over to you and gave you his jacket, but you pushed it away. "No. No, I don't need it." "Don't need it, my ass! Take it!"
⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
It was storming heavily. You and Carl were incredibly wet due to the rain. "Are you okay?" He asked. "What?" "I said, are you okay?" he repeated. "Yeah!" you shouted. There were wet leaves on the ground, a few collapsed trees, and walkers. You barely knew how to protect yourself. But Carl was there. And he was all you needed. "Y/N!" You turned to look at him. "Over there. That's the neighborhood that I was looking for." You nodded and took his hand. The two of you ran towards it. Your shoes were muddy, your hair was a mess, and your shirt was half-ripped because of a branch, but you were still wearing Carl's jacket. You and Carl were also tired. But kept on running towards the nearest house in the neighborhood called "Clemenswood." Carl kicked open the door, and you two ran inside, panting. You were cold and started shivering. "Y/N, I'll be back. I'll see if this place has food. You stay here, okay?" He said softly. "Okay," you answered. You sat down on the cold, hard, and dusty floor. It looked like no one had lived or stayed here for a while. Moments later, you heard Carl rush in. "Good, you're still here. Anyway, I found a few stale bags of chips and two sodas. Is that fine?" he asked. "Yes," you replied. He smiled and sat down next to you. He opened one of the bags and handed it to you. "Thank you, Carl." You smiled warmly. ⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰
You and Carl decided to spend the night in Clemenswood as the rain didn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. You looked at Carl, who was laughing at something you said. "I love you; you know that?" You looked at him in disbelief. He blushed. "I meant it in a friend way-like a best friend way." You smiled. "Well, then, lover, I love you too. You're a great friend." Carl took your hand in his and wrapped his comforting fingers around it. ⊱ ────── {.⋅ ✯ ⋅.} ────── ⊰ You were lying next to Carl. His strong arms were wrapped around you. This is what friends do, right? "I love you. I do; you know that, right?" You smiled. "I do." The two of you sat up and looked at each other. He smiled and said, "Do you know what I want to do?" You grinned. "What?" you inquired innocently. "This." Carl leaned in and kissed you softly, his lips lingering on yours. ───── ❝ authors note ❞ ─────

Scratch That Itch || Rick Grimes (TWD)
Available on AO3
Tumblr media
Summary: Honestly, you weren't sure how it started. It wasn't a competition, at least you didn't think it was. There'd been something between you and Rick, something that people couldn't quite label. And maybe you batted your eyes the first time, and maybe he smirked the second. Either way, this was getting out of hand.
TWS: suggestive AF, FLIRTY, TENSION, innuendos, pregnancy mention (Maggie is pregnant in this one), violence, blood, mentions of guns, the undead, all things TWD.
[[A/N: Basically a 5 plus one. just wanted to establish how dumb it was that no one absolutely dived for this man. I think he'd be flattered, personally, if you took every chance you could to hit on him. Also FUCK the horror part of this show, Alexandria is paradise and Negan is not allowed. Thanks for your time !!! So, here's what I'd picture would play out. Enjoy!!]]
Tumblr media
The first time you remember it happening was just a slip of the tongue. Or that's what you said anyway.
You'd known Rick for a while at that point; the group had picked you up somewhere after the prison falling -you'd been holed up in a shack for probably a year.
And fuck, you knew Rick Grimes was handsome. Everyone under the sun knew that (all broad shoulders and baby blues, his voice-), and you thought you'd gotten a hold of the reigns -at least enough for decency. Sure, you stared at him for way too long a lot of the time, and had been noticed by several people -including Rick. ("You've got something... uh, on your face," you scrambled, and honestly you'd never been more mortified in your life-)
It wasn't the first time it happened, looking back on it, but you couldn't quite picture earlier. He'd been too suave for it to be the first time and maybe he was just that suave, but you kind of hoped it wasn't you that started it. So, you'd live in your delusion.
You were tired, exhausted really. The past few days you couldn't sleep, mostly because you felt unsafe in Alexandria -it was all so new that it gave you a sense of unease. You, naturally, went on every run available to feel that burst of adrenaline that felt so familiar -killing walkers was what you knew.
After Rick caught up with your plans, he'd made you stay. That didn't mean you were sleeping though.
Hence the current you sat at a table in a meeting of such, he'd liked to have these every once in a while -establish the plans and how he was running Alexandria. Rick was nothing if not connected to his people. It was honorable if there was such a thing in the apocalypse.
You think it was Carol, maybe, who'd said it. Referring to the resources, you'd come to learn. Apparently, Rick had been planning too much -maybe they were talking about bullets, food? You really didn't know.
"We can't keep up with you-" she was so earnest, you should've known that it was more of a pressing issue, but instead, your brain running on day (four...?) of no sleep had... other connotations.
"Oh, I'm sure I could."
You thanked whatever god was left above that Carl was out on a run with Glenn that morning. Everyone else? You weren't so lucky.
It wasn't like you could pass it off as not... what it was. Your tone was perfectly readable, slurred actually from sleep which, in retrospect, only added to the... interpretation.
You hadn't even realized you said it, so far off in whatever fuzzy reality you were currently in to notice you'd spoken. Until, Maggie who was somewhere near the back burst into laughter -cutting it short by holding it back, but the break of noise was still there.
There was something that acknowledged the embarrassment, the silence and laughter only registering after a few heavy seconds. To say you were more awake than you had been in weeks was an understatement -your eyes felt pried open with a bundle of nerves sinking deep into your stomach. You might throw up.
Talk about mortifying.
You felt frozen in your seat, hesitating to make even a single move like he couldn't see that your eyes, once heavily lidded, were now open -detailing the woodwork like your life depended on it, but still awake.
And then, after a few agonizing seconds, the voice you had dreaded spoke up. Normally, you wouldn't have noticed. Trying to find an escape route from at least this room, the grand scheme would be leaving Alexandria but that was-
There was a calloused fingertip underneath your chin, guiding you to meet his eyes -amused in a way you hadn't seen before. His mouth had to be maybe an inch from yours -breaths mingling and his lips turning into a smirk, you willed yourself not to look.
"Don't make promises you can't keep, sweetheart."
The silence was even louder after that, nobody making a move like what was happening at this moment like it was a dream. It could definitely be a dream, you thought to yourself -eyes dipping to his lips in a moment of weakness.
Then, Daryl yelled, "Get a room, nobody wants to see 'at."
And Rick had laughed in a sort of crooked way, his smirk seamlessly budding into a grin. Without so much as a blink, he moved his finger and addressed Carol like nothing had happened.
There was something petty in you because you had taken that as a challenge. Well, you would when you could think straight again.
The next time was more casual, more natural. You'd always been attracted to Rick, but since then you felt so open to it like you'd crossed a boundary and he had... well, he had done what he did.
You still couldn't think about it too hard or your brain would turn to sludge.
You had the running theory that if you were fully present in the... flirting game? Was it a game? You didn't feel like it was, but then again, you had gotten competitive of all things.
Didn't matter, your theory was if you were more present, he'd been more affected. It's one thing to have a half-asleep person flirting with you, and another if it's a fully awake person. You were hoping to plan it out, get exactly the right words to say -it was going to be perfectly crafted to get a reaction out of Rick Grimes.
But, it didn't end up that way.
You were folding clothes, which was a bit of hell within itself but you were helping Maggie -she made it much more bearable. Even though just about every few minutes, she'd remind you of your... incident.
It was all in good fun, she was always giggling and teasing in a sister sort of way. You found yourself close to her pretty much as soon as you'd met her -catching her eye lingering on Glenn for a few seconds too long. They were well-established at that point, but you'd found an interest there in the budding... romance.
After she'd lost so much, your connection was nice, fresh, and easy in the apocalypse. It was light and airy when it needed to be, and strongly protective otherwise.
You'd threatened Glenn pretty much immediately after you met him -something about 'you hurt her and I'll grind your bones into paste'. It was in a joking tone, but he took it as you intended. (He'd grinned at you afterward, saying something about you fitting right in. Needless to say, you didn't get the desired effect.)
So, you sat -carefully detailing the piles as you worked through them, Glenn, Maggie, and a tiny pile of onesies. You smiled at it, as it continued to grow, and the conversation was easy to be in -nothing too substantial, just casual topics.
"Saw Glenn the other day," you remarked, remembering the deadly cold stare he'd passed onto some of the Alexandrians -Daryl falling close behind, "-you got lucky, Mags."
Maggie laughed, bright and loud -her face was somehow glowing, you guessed pregnancy would do that to you, "I know, he's... He's amazing."
"Hey, don't start on the ooey-gooey 'I found my soulmate in the apocalypse' shit," you groaned -you loved her, really you did, but with your mortification... you were truly going to die alone.
Maggie huffed, elbowing into your side, "You started it."
"Well, I wanted to talk about-" the door to Maggie and Glenn's swung open, revealing a Rick who'd just got done working -sweat on his brow and dirt on his jeans, "-something... different."
She, on the other hand, was acting completely natural, "We could get into those things if you want, I just figured-"
"Rick, thank god you're here-" you turned to him dramatically -still folding clothes without much extra thought, "-please rescue me from this torture. She's on her Glenn kick-"
He paused before a smooth smile melted upon his lips -you bit back the urge to watch it from there, salt and pepper beard stretched along his mouth, "When is she not on a Glenn kick?"
"You're not helping," you sighed, retorting with a passive playfulness, "-you're supposed to give me an out, you know. Save the day, isn't that what gentlemen do?"
Maggie spoke up, in agreement, "That's what gentlemen do."
Rick was staring at you, eyes flickering along your face and then settling on your hands. You were in your own space, carefully placing each fabric in as nice of a stack as possible -fingers swift and practiced. You could still feel it though.
His eyes heavy on every motion -following you like you were a shooting star in the sky, a sight to be seen. Jaw twitched, licking a line against his teeth, as a grin peeked up then, and you knew you were in for it.
"Well," he sighed, leaning against the doorframe casually as if the words were as true as the sun rising in the morning, "-I can think of a few better things to do wit' your hands."
You startled, the shirt (clearly Glenn's if the bright graphic had anything to say) held up in front of you -tips of your fingers tight on the fabric, almost too tight. Exhaling a breath, as you wordlessly stared at the shirt in front of you, you vowed to yourself you wouldn't freeze again. And somewhere deep in your head, your competitiveness sparked up in a single flame.
With the casual speed of folding the shirt, you wordlessly placed it into Glenn's pile -it was teetering dangerously, but you couldn't find it in yourself to care, and stood.
Your steps were slow, deliberate, and despite the flurry of thoughts in your mind, you were clear-headed.
"What," you spoke, it was low and breathy (but there was no need to be loud, he was right in front of you, "-these?"
Rick hadn't spoken, as you wordlessly traced your nails across his arms, not enough to scratch -watching as the goosebumps lay in their wake. His flannel was rolled up to his elbows, and the skin there was golden from the sun -muscle underneath your fingertips, detailed and extensive.
His breath hitched, and you grinned, biting it back at the success on your side -a familiar buzz tossing your stomach in a pleasant sort of way. It spurred you on further.
"What did you have in mind, Grimes?" you were a breath away now, breath mingling and your fingers still absently tracing his skin -eyes intently locked on his.
Rick's face was still, except for the tiniest twitch of his nose -eyes clouded with something you hadn't quite grasped. It was intense and heavy, left a sort of burning on your skin -you felt a sort of flush there, but ignored it in favor of-
His eyes flicked to your lips, it was a languid gaze like he was watching the puffs of breaths. He was certainly not ashamed, eyes focused and for a second, you truly thought... maybe this wasn't a game. Maybe he would break then, and kiss you with a fever that you'd felt in the air. His own hands-
"Ahem," Maggie cleared her throat, "-as much as I enjoy this, really I do. I've got laundry that needs foldin'."
Before Rick could even blink out of his stupor, you'd smiled -wide and bright, "Rick will help you, won't you?"
He blinked, seeming to filter through the heavy fog, "I was actually lookin' for Glenn-"
"Don't worry," you hummed, still barely a breath away from him -voice low and eyes heavy, "-I'm sure he'll understand. Everyone gets distracted, right?"
Rick was hanging onto your words, eyes shining in a kind of way that made you itch to touch him -breathy and on the edge of something, "Right."
"Good," you grinned, patting his cheek -much like an aunt at Thanksgiving, a bit condescending. Simply, leaving him as he was, and stepping back -you could hear him mutter something not very gentlemanly.
Glancing towards Maggie, you spoke casually -remaining as unaffected to the naked eye, "Let me know if you need anything else, Mags."
Maggie rolled her eyes, patting the bed for Rick to sit, and Rick well, he was grinning at you -eyes light and smiley. But the smooth smirk that gathered at his lips said all it needed to: game on.
Count that as a point for you.
The next time was a bit more of a mixed bag, you'd done something stupid. An extra run, you'd gone out on your own and you were fine. Just a few cuts and bruises, some blood (not yours) encrusted into your skin.
But you were exhausted by the time you approached the Alexandria gate -feet dragging, and hands aching to reach your own home for a hot shower. Anything really to soothe the pain in your back, you'd fallen, not far. You doubted anything was broken, but you knew it'd bruise -big and purple. You just figured you'd ask around and get a heating pad to sleep on until further notice.
One night would be fine.
What you hadn't accounted for was Gabriel watching as you left and watching you sneak back in. Nor had you accounted for just who he would tell.
"What the hell-" Rick's tone was low, not loud enough to wake anyone -as he faced you in the streets, "-were you thinking?"
You didn't ask how he'd known, you figured at that point it was pointless, "I wasn't. I know, it's stupid. Look, it's nothing major. I'll just deal with it in the morn-"
There was a shuffling in the nearby houses, and you both froze in place -air rushing from your mouth in a worried heap. Waiting for a light to switch on, or a door to open, anything-
After a few seconds, nothing echoed in the silence, and you opened your mouth to continue.
But, Rick -gruff and almost a growl (it made the hair stand up on your arms), interrupted, "Not here."
Your mind was in a fuzz, as his hand wrapped around your wrist (long, calloused fingers-) guiding you among the barely lit streets. The sound of walkers was distant in the night, and with your heart beating so loud in your chest -you had a spare thought to wonder if he could hear it.
With a dazed glance, you realized that Rick was leading you to your home -a tiny piece of you was crushed at the notion of not being in his home, but with Judith so young... it made sense. Your fingers dragged briefly along the familiar splintered wood, where you'd carved out initials of some people you once knew.
The thought passed quickly, as he pulled you inside -only stopping to shut the door and guide you further. There was a spark in your mind at the idea that maybe he'd guide you somewhere more private for different reasons than to cuss you out in the early morning hours, you stopped the thought process before it could get much farther.
"What-" you began, eager for an explanation, and he simply shushed you -not even turning back, he was so focused on his destination.
You'd tried to be offended, but the sudden turn into your bedroom cut the thought short. His fingers still closed around your wrist, you wondered again if he could feel it -bumping against his skin. Loud and nervous, because of him-
And then wondering, what would he do if he did?
Before you could put too much into that discussion, he turned into your bathroom. It wasn't exactly small, but Rick (in his broad shoulder and leader stance glory) had to squish up against you. Even slightly, the buzz of his body warmth against yours sent a zip up your spine that made you incredibly aware of the... Rick around you.
Woodsy smell, and calloused fingertips, you almost spoke -on instinct, trying to cool the fog of your brain. Regain anything but the overwhelming sense of salty sweat and heavy worry delicate wrapped around you. And yet-
He spoke then, simple, direct, "Up."
At first, you hadn't known what he meant, standing in the bathroom -merely noticing how close his chest would get to yours when he breathed in, until your fingertips brushed upon the countertops of your sink.
Oh.
Your body had a mind of it's own, extending your arms outward as Rick lifted you. And even just for the sole second you stayed in his arms -flannel fabric rubbing against your side, and fingers curled under your arms, you felt a sort of bliss.
Rick was in no such state, stepping back from you with a hand reached out (making sure you were steady in your place) and all at once giving you a look over. You truly didn't know how you looked, the bruise blossoming on your back was the only thing that was causing an ache right now. You thoroughly doubted he could see that.
And a few other scratches on your face maybe? And your shoulders? It was a bit blurry now. You seemed to remember the scraping of nails, and a sting following suit.
Rick's face stayed unmoving, blue eyes flickering in the low light -brief across your skin but it still felt quite vulnerable. Broken open in front of eyes that kept looking at you -intent and focused; you kind of wanted to shrink into yourself, disguise from them.
He didn't let up, eyes heavy on the task at hand -a sort of determination set in his jaw, "First aid?"
"Yeah, uh-" you cleared your throat, tightening your fingers on the counter -a spare thought almost had you skimming through his hair, "-it should be in the cabinet. It's the same one that was here when we arrived, is that-"
"'s fine," he interrupted, swiftly pulling the tiny case out of the cabinet -eyes set across a few of the spare scratches, "-better than nothin'."
He stayed focused, sliding between your legs -urging your chin up with the tiniest of touches, and using the motion to look at some of your scrapes. Your head was swimming in a sort of fuzz, following the motion like you were boneless -maybe you were.
"They aren't that bad," you tried to urge, sinking into the intimacy of having someone care for you -it was probably the first time it'd happened to you without asking.
Rick hummed, carefully wiping at one on your forehead -the most tender of touches with calloused fingertips (the contradiction making your head spin), "And that means what?"
You faltered, "Well, we shouldn't waste resources on-"
"I've got plenty of bandages," he answered, concisely, "-if someone needs some, tell 'em to come to me."
"Rick, I can't ask you to do that," you relented, unfamiliar with this energy in such a vulnerable position -when you felt like this, you'd been batting eyelashes and he'd do that smirk that made you forget what you were saying. It wasn't... it wasn't this. The tenderness in his hands, and the act of it being so natural to him, not a bother.
"Ya didn't," he answered, simply, hands wiping away at your skin so gently you almost leaned into it. The urge to let him hold you like putty, let him care for you, he clearly knew how-
You chose not to speak then, eyes dashing along his face -following the crinkles, and a few blemishes. You were close enough to memorize them, you might as well. The thoughts of wondrously connecting them on his face, brushing your hands along -it was something that you hadn't thought of.
You wouldn't let yourself.
"Why are you doing this?"
Rick paused in his motions, eyes littering down to yours -trying to read the look on your face. He exhaled, heavily, and took a few steps back -it cleared your head a bit, the smell of Rick just a tad less overwhelming all your senses. (You kind of missed it.)
"Can I ask you somethin'?" he questioned, tossing what he could in the tiny trashcan without much semblance of thought towards it.
You stiffened at the shift of tone, retorting with a tight smile, "I thought I just did, but uh... yeah."
"This," his finger flicked between the two of you -your eyes followed it with an embarrassing fervor, "-it's... What is it to you?"
If he'd asked yesterday, you would've answered much differently. Not that you hadn't felt... this, it was just a much different perspective. You hadn't thought of this part of it, the protectiveness, the concern, because of course, Rick Grimes was a force to be reckoned with. And if you got... involved, you imagined it extended to you.
"'Could ask you the same question," you deflected, fingers trailing down your arm and messing with your sleeve -it was partially rolled up and you flicked the button between your fingers.
"'Kay," he hummed, stepping closer -in your space just as seamlessly as before but this was more intentional, "-we can do it this way."
Without another word, he grabbed your hand by the wrist -stopping the motion with a heavy sort of look, "Pay attention."
You froze, watching as Rick stood a breath away from you -blue intense in a way you'd become familiar with, but still somehow different. You nodded, wordlessly.
"I'm-" he started, before seeming to scrap it, "There are no conditions with me. If I go anywhere with you, and I mean anywhere-"
Your breath hitched.
"-I'm for everythin'. There's no one thing," Rick continued, seeming to not notice the implications affecting you, "-it's everythin'. Mornings, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and if I can swing it... dates."
You exhaled, your gaze softening on the man -he wasn't shying away, eyes intently on yours. There was a new energy in the air, something softer -not as suffocating on his smirk, but warmer, enveloping you.
"You-" you started, tone shaky in a bit of disbelief, "-everything?"
His hand matched up to yours, fingertips detailing your palms without so much as a look down. Biting back a smile (like you weren't hyperaware of his mouth being so close), he mumbled -low gravel brushing across your skin, "Everythin'."
It took you less than a second to process the words, heart heavy against your ribcage, "Okay."
He blinked, stunned, "You... That was quick, I wasn't expectin'-"
"Rick," you exhaled, a bit breathy at the slightest touch of his hands, "-have you seen yourself?"
He laughed, short but it still sent a pleasant buzz up your spine -his hand rested an inch from your leg on the counter edge. And somehow your mouth kept running at the closeness.
"You're the best man I've ever met," you hummed, more sentimental but still in the rush of his scent and the dizziness of his body warmth, "-although, I'd hope you keep your... promises. I will gladly take anything you offer."
"I'll keep 'em," his voice was low, bubbling something up in your stomach -eyes heavy but something new there, affectionate even, "-I never say anythin' I don't mean. And trust me, I mean it."
You still hadn't crossed that boundary, mere looks and touches that lasted a bit too long -you shivered at the thought. It was building, loud and yelling in your head every time you so much as saw Rick in the corner of your eye. Eyes lingering for much longer than usual, you felt a bit like you were stopped.
Rick was leading, it wasn't that hard to tell -every smooth hand on the small of your back, pushing a strand of hair behind your ear, and recently, without so much as a break in the conversation, pulling you into his lap.
There were perfectly good seats, many of them.
And yet, he sat you there -one of his big hands splayed along your side holding you steady and the other rubbing a soothing pattern in your thigh. The brush of his hands still ghosted over you even now, and if you focused hard enough, you could feel the drag of his fingertips on your skin.
Maggie hadn't let it go for weeks. Fuck, you hadn't let it go for weeks.
Maybe that's why you'd been grumpy that morning, the itching of having Rick Grimes's hands on you had set you a bit on edge. The building tension only made your throat close up and your brain sort of lack words, but you'd truly be dead before you'd give up.
You knew Rick was up early, he always was -set to do whatever he had to that day, or even to take care of Judith. Conveniently, though, Maggie had taken Judith that night and Carl had slept over at his new friend's house (Rick had been hard to convince on that front, but his weakness had always been his kids after all).
It was a Saturday, he liked to rest on Saturdays. You knew that because he'd sit out on his porch in the heat, sweat dripping from his face and the top few of his buttons undone to accost for the warmth.
Or, he totally could've known that you watched him like clockwork -eyes heavy on the touch of chest that showed and trailing the sweat down his collarbone. You were sure if you'd gone up to him when he sat like... that, you wouldn't have had such a clear mind.
He had that edge of cockiness now, he would unbutton his shirt just a little bit more to get your head spinning. It was in his character.
Taking a deep breath, you made your way into the neighboring house -the distant puff of sleep on your limbs but your mind had never been clearer. The door was unlocked, as you waltzed into the house -the emptiness was a sort of unfamiliar tone in the house, yet your body moved forward.
You made your way to the door -his bedroom, before you stopped. Your feet froze in place, as you followed the trail of the wood -seeming to realize just what you had done. Running into a man's house, and ending up at his bedroom door... in your pjs.
At the thought, your head swam and a blush of crimson flushed down to your collarbone. Biting your lip harder than you ever had in your life, your eyes lingered over the wood -hesitating to even imagine what was behind that door.
He had a white duvet, they all did.
You groaned, not even noticing the volume level, because it was early and you weren't thinking- and spun on your heel, ready to confront him later. At a more reasonable hour, and more reasonable clothing.
The door creaked open, and something in you stayed frozen to your spot, only halfway spun towards the door. It was obvious, big t-shirt and sweatpants that you had just woken up, and in that bliss, you thought that maybe the shadow hid you in the hallway. It was early enough to cast the world in a sort of darkness -halfway between the sun shining and the cloudy early morning.
And then he chuckled -a sort of warm gravelly tone, "You want some breakfast?"
You opened your mouth to respond, turning back to the door -eyes settling on the man in the frame. His figure seemed somehow towering, more than usual, curls a bit wild -your fingers itched to smooth it down. And he was shirtless, the expanse of his skin making your head flutter in a pleasant sort of way -slight marks of freckles etched across him, and plaid pants hanging low on his waist.
You felt your anger dissipate, despite the urge to hold onto it, sighing, "I... yes."
"Good," his voice was low, sleep-slurred, and you suddenly got the thought this was a very bad idea. His arm wrapped around you -body warm tripled with just skin, as he guided you into the kitchen.
You had beaten this before, the sort of buzz that Rick Grimes put you in, but he had never been so close and shirtless before. The bare skin of his side pressed into you like it was nothing, your mind spun -lucky he was guiding you so swiftly.
"You gonna tell me why you're 'ere?"
He was looking at you now, the kitchen was much brighter -open curtains, and light cabinets. He looked domestic in here, and the kitchen itself seemed like his. A few bowls dirty in the sink, dish towels hanging on the oven, some baby snacks sorted into little baggies, it all screamed Grimes household.
You cleared your throat, "You wanna know?"
"I asked," he smiled, toothy and bright -so warm and fuzzy, "-didn't I?"
"You're not," you paused, trying to coil down the nerves tight in your stomach, "-freaked out that I'm here?"
Rick laughed, somehow getting somewhat closer to you, hands rubbing up and down your arms without much extra thought. Before his face settled into something heavier, affection still high on his face, but something more familiar there.
"Y/N," the smooth upturn of his lips, as he gathered closer to you, his breaths quick despite his demeanor, "-if I had my way you'd be here every night and day."
Your heart was fast in your chest, heavy against your ribs and you thought about it for a second. Waking up here, dinners with Carl and Judith, Rick... everywhere. It wasn't... bad.
It was far from bad.
And that wasn't just Rick, it was everything. A domesticity with Rick that you had come to terms that you'd never get, and yet here it was. Laid beautifully in front of you.
Rick was nervous, you could tell. The shift on his feet, his eyes glazing over your face so intently like he was memorizing every shift but to try and find out what you were thinking. He had always looked at you, you realized.
The amount of that blue shine you'd seen with such intense focus wasn't just this. And he'd always touched you. If danger was present, he'd tug you behind him without a single extra thought. With the gentlest of touches when you were injured, he was sure to help you through it -if not there with you, he'd stick someone he trusted. (Insanely, he'd told Daryl once when they were trying to raid another camp and Daryl would've been immensely useful-) And the smirk, it wasn't new... You'd seen it in banter, he'd make you laugh so hard and he'd make that face like he was smug, like he was proud.
"Y/N?" he asked, a bit scared of the silence, "-Everythin' alright?"
"I-" you started, a bit startled at the revelation but confident in pursuing it, "This was never a competition to you, was it?"
Rick furrowed his eyebrows, reiterating, "I told you-"
"No, no," you interrupted, taking a few dangerous steps forward, "-before that. Before that meeting when I didn't sleep enough... You-"
You couldn't finish it, the word hanging heavy in the air, just on the cusp of your tongue. It would be real then, and you still weren't sure. You couldn't say it, you could just act like it never happened-
"I love you."
And there it was, silencing your train of your thought, as you looked at him with a sort of curiosity. He wasn't looking at you, eyes scrunched closed as he rubbed at his face, embarrassed almost. Like he had never intended to tell you, or never have you find out. Was he... Was he afraid?
"I-" he started, trailing off in a deep sigh, "I never meant for it to be... Shit, this looks so bad. I wasn't trying to convince you to feel the same. I just- It just started. I didn't want to make you uncomfortable-"
"Rick," you tried -but your voice was so quiet.
"I never. Fuck. It wasn't supposed to go this far-"
"Rick-" you urged, louder, but it didn't stop his pacing.
"It just happened, over the years... I couldn't stop it, everythin' just kept adding up. I kept lookin' at you, and I couldn't stop. And then, you were half asleep but you said it- I thought maybe... I just wanted it to be real-"
"Rick," you leaned up, placing your hands on the sides of his face and making him look at you, "-breathe."
He stopped, eyes wide and blue -looking right into yours, and following your whispers of instructions. Trying to keep his brain right here with you, you counted out his breaths and he looked with something you wouldn't have noticed before. But now you did.
"You with me?"
He swallowed, nervous, "Yes, but-"
And without a second thought, you pushed forward and put your lips on his. It was a quick motion, a bit frantic, so Rick had to adjust. He originally wasn't responding, still and unmoving against every molecule of your body trying to be close to yours.
Then he did.
Rick was smooth, moving his arms to wrap around your middle (urging you even closer) and dipping into you without much less restraint. Your hands brushed across his stubble and tucked behind his ears, twirled up in his curls like it would keep you grounded. And maybe it was. The simple press had evolved, a sort of emotion lingering in the touching skin. You itched to somehow be closer, to ignite that sort of attention everywhere. The sparks were alluring, and all you could think about was more.
Rick was on a different page, pulling back with a grin so bright you'd almost flinched at it. After a few moments of looking, you watched as he slowly leaned forward -your body naturally leaning forward a sort of bliss piercing over your mind.
And then, he swerved.
He pulled his hand out of its position against your back -brushing your stomach as it came to your throat. And then, as gently as a butterfly landing on your finger, he pressed his thumb into your pulse. It was currently crazy, running on the adrenaline of showing up here so early and his confession, and the kiss-
All he did was grin.
"So fast," leaning into your ear, huffs of breaths hot on your skin -you just knew that he knew what he was doing, "-that for me, sweetheart?"
You growled, frustration at its peak, and pulled back to match his face -at a sudden mix of affection and anger, you let your heart speak, "Fuck you, Grimes."
He merely smiled brighter, head tilting ever so closely, "Well, since you asked so nicely-"
