What are your favorite books?

I’m glad you said “books”, plural, cause I dead set can’t pick a single one. That would be like asking me to choose a favourite child 😂 I wish I could give you a sophisticated answer (that’ll sort of come later) but most of my faves are still the YA fiction I was obsessed with in High School.

Honestly my top series would have to be “Harry Potter” by She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, even years later (I almost made an “after all this time” joke but we don’t stan Snape on this account). The Goosebumps books by RL Stine are also up there, particularly “The Ghost Next Door” and “Night of the Living Dummy II”. I also love the Vampire Academy/Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead, though those are also a little on the controversial side for a whole other set of reasons 😭 The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer was my favourite series for waaaay too long, and while it’ll always have a special place in my heart, I definitely planned to write my Honours Thesis on why it was a shitty influence on teenagers (until I dropped out of the course because I had undiagnosed ADHD and zero clue how to cope lol). I still feel bad vibes when I think too hard about that series lol.

Moving on from teen-drama, I will say I LOVE “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings” by Maya Angelou. Had to read it for a uni class and never got over it. “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee is one from my high school days that I still think about as well.

And this isn’t technically a book, but I really enjoyed the plays “Macbeth” and “Othello” by Shakespeare. Shakespeare’s plays are my jam, spent a lot of years studying his plays in both Literature and Drama classes and those were always a solid vibe.

If you ever wanna really trip out though, can I recommend the Ancient Greek play “Lysistrata”? Spoiler Alert 🚨 but essentially the Spartan and Greek women get the shits because their husbands are always at war, so they decide to prevent them from getting the one thing they value more than killing each other (another spoiler alert: it’s sex) until the men decide to finally end the war (and you guessed it, the play ends with an orgy. I think. It’s been 8 years since I read it lol). It’s magnificent. I performed this play for a Drama unit in first year of Uni and have never been the same (in the best way).

What I honestly read the most right now though are Riverdale fanfiction stories. Shamelessly, I’ve contributed to at least 100 hits on Our Story’s Not Over because I love it and I wrote it for myself.

You probably weren’t anticipating a full ESSAY in response to your question, but here it is 😂😂😂😂 I could go on but we’ll be here forever.
