Richard C. Mowrey, BJU Class of 1979.
Richard ""Dick"" C. Mowrey, 88, beloved husband and father, entered the presence of his Lord on March 30, 2024. He was the son of the late Carlton and Anna Mae Hollenbaugh Mowrey on June 19, 1935, in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Dick loved his Lord and was a faithful example, pointing others to Christ. He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his service in the Vietnam War. After his military career, he graduated from Bob Jones University, taught for 4 years, and was a staff employee of Bob Jones University for 12 years. He enjoyed camping, building model airplanes, and spending time with his family.
Surviving are two sons, Richard ""Rick"" C. Mowrey, Jr. (Brenda) and Michael ""Mike"" Mowrey (Brenda) both of Taylors, South Carolina; one daughter, Amy Henry (Matthew) of Fairfax, Virginia; one sister, Sally Milliron of Carbondale West Virginia; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mr. Mowrey was predeceased by his wife, Audrey Mowrey; two infant daughters, Beverly Anne and Barbara Jo; and four sisters, Ruth Keller, Louise Kerr, Helen Kerr, and Eileen Muir.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2024, at Faith Baptist Church, 500 West Lee Road Taylors, South Carolina 29687 conducted by Rev. David Stockard. Burial will follow in Graceland East Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held 12:45-1:45 Friday, April 5, 2024, at Faith Baptist Church.
His sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Hidden Treasure Christian School, c/o Faith Baptist Church, 500 West Lee Road, Taylors, South Carolina 29687.
