I finally got around to watching A Christmas Number One, and I was expecting an awful steaming pile based on the reviews, but I actually really liked it. Maybe my being an Iwan Rheon fan skews my opinion because I'm just sitting there in awe watching him- oh, beautiful man ✨😍. But I really liked Blake as a character. I wish Iwan gets to play more similar roles in the future (and more rom-coms please, please) I love it when he plays sarcastic, sassy, sweathearted but kinda asshole characters.

I thought it was funny and sweet and had a nice character to it. The movie ended a bit bittersweetly, but I didn't mind. The actors performances in my options were good, but some were not super strong at times, but they did hit in the more emotional moments.

Reading other reviews, a lot of people did not like the character of Nia, but I really did. I thought Helena Zengel did a wonderful job. Plus, Nia's 13. She's allowed to be a cringey teen!

I also liked the character of Sophie (Rhianna Merralls) in her small amount of screen time. She always caught my eye. Along with Kandy (Georgia Small), but I also thought she was super hot, so that might have skewed my judgment a bit lmao.

As a fan of Iwan Rheon's music, I was very appreciative of the amount of pipes he got to show off in this. I liked a good chunk of the original songs, Fallen for You being my favourite. He was also very, very hot as Blake. (I miss you Iwan's lockdown hair)

I'm no film connoisseur; hell, I mostly indulge in the typical mid rom-com... I think I was very much the targeted demographic of this movie, so maybe that's why I liked it lol.

So what? I think some films are allowed to be silly and a bit shit, sue me!

(I also found it quite funny when they were obviously trying to hide Freida Pinto's baby bump the whole time lol)

Anyways, 4/5 stars from me :) 👍
