a few degrassi Thoughts as i rewatch the first 5 seasons (mostly season 4)

> jay and rick are my problematic favorites, not in the sense that i condone their actions or think theyre good people in anyway, but they are too enjoyable for me to hate. i think this is a bit more controversial to say about rick than it is to say about jay but idc. jay is the funniest character of the whole show and rick is arguably the best written, not to mention theyre both acted incredibly well.

> craig peaked in his first episode lmfaoo like he really had this INCREDIBLE character introduction and they never were able to recapture that. i still think hes one of the best acted characters in the show but after a certain point i feel like im going to overdose with all the craig content they shove down my throat that is good at best and insufferable at worst.

> sean and ellie are at their best and arguably their most tolerable when theyre dating each other. thats probably my sellie bias but before and after they break up neither are all that remarkable as characters. when sean comes back in s6 hes just kinda boring and ellie in s5 is downright insufferable. also i hate how they never really bring up sellie after they break up? they say they love each other and then sean stays in wasaga and ???? they never speak of or to each other again? weird choice for a pairing that were so close they were living with each other for a period of time, but anything for semma i guess.....

> ashley isnt that bad and i still dont understand why the hate for her is so overblown that people put her at the same level as canon abusers, rapists, and general criminals.

> jt was probably the first character i latched onto from the TNG era but on rewatch hes kinda unlikeable???? i still like him a lot but idk the way he treated toby and liberty pissed me off >:/ not to mention he lost almost all of his charm by s5 (coincidentally around the time they gave him a Serious storyline) idk.... toby and liberty outsold and thats why they got together 2 seconds after he was murdered :p

> 'mercy street' (aka the penis pump episode) is the best episode of s4 and one of the best in the whole series you can fight me on this. the only other episodes in s4 that i think are close enough to mercy streets level are 'time stands still' (duh) and 'secret part 2' (alex punching amy straight into the black hole? social diseases?? jiberty nonsense in the background? kid elrick in the flesh? banger episode all around)

> the shows treatment of toby will never not make me viscerally upset. my boy deserved so much better than he got and i will cry over him to this day bc the writers hated him so much for no reason. i hope hes out there somewhere dating liberty and living his best life working out the insane amounts of trauma they piled onto him without proper resolution.

> when i first watched s1-8 i remember liking manny but not really understanding how she was SO popular that its like sin to say anything bad about her. on rewatch, i totally get it. manny santos is an icon living who has done nothing wrong in her entire life.

> i like spinner and the direction his character took in s4B onward, but man do i wish he wasnt the focus of the shooting aftermath. i get he was heavily involved with it, but the other characters that were also heavily affected barely got anything! sean got that one episode where he told ellie what happened when he accidentally killed rick before lamely jetskiing in circles and nearly drowning, and the resolution to his trauma was staying in wasaga for a whole season. emma got gonorrhea and i guess her hanging around with jay and acting out was her way of coping, we got like 5 seconds of tobys feelings on ricks death because god forbid toby has screentime for any longer than that. hell, we barely saw jimmy in the hospital and dealing with being newly paralyzed outside of the episode where craig and marco snuck him out of the hospital to see kid elrick. idk i like spinners arc but oh my god why couldnt we get more elaboration on the other characters' trauma surrounding the event. :/

> rick making that list of girls in the school was pretty gross and i hate him for indoctrinating my meow meow toby into misogyny but that list was fucking bonkers. his top 3 in order was ms hatzilakos, heather sinclair and emma. at that point i just think rick became down bad for any girl that didnt shove him into a locker on sight. in another universe he pointed the gun at ms hatzilakos for 'flirting' with him lmao

i saw a thread of information abt the suspected nine members before they were officially announced and was like ‘yes i must stan them and love them with all of my heart.’ so uh,,,,, back in august or september??

2: What is your favorite episode of Stray Kids? uhm, i’m gonna expose myself rn and let y’all know that i’ve never actually seen a full episode of the show; as soon as i heard it was gonna be a survival show, i knew that i couldn’t watch it bc my heart was too weak and i was emotionally incapable of becoming too invested while watching it; but from clips, i quite like the episode with the 3:3:3 mission, and also the last episode when all nine were reunited and told they were going to debut together

my initial one was chan, and they i got rlly confused, and then slowly came to realize that it was jeongin (anything else after that is a fucking mess)

Kamen Rider Amazons Series Thoughts

Something a little special today since Amazons ended so just like with ghost im gonna run down my thoughts and feelings to the first (Of hopefully many) kamen rider amazon prime shows. Here’s hoping Stronger is next since Double is now utterly off the table (Maybe? just cause its getting a manga doesnt mean they wont do more does it?)

First off I really loved season 1 of Amazons, it was a great change of pace since it aired along side Ghost. It was a dark, bloody look at what Kajin would be in a more realistic way, Monsters with a desire to eat humanity while not as grand as some kamen rider villains plans its a much more horrific and brutal one. The two protagonists themselves were monsters who walked the line and werent afraid of brutally brutally killing their enemies (Especially Jin) as opposed to Takaru and his trying to understand his enemies or reason with them, with the Amazons this just wouldnt work, they were hungry and humanity was on the menu. It was a sort of refreshing look to see what a truly dark rider series with completely morally ambiguous characters. The show didnt say Hakura is right or Jin was right, it let the view decide who had the better point and both of them had very good points too.

Now Season 2 started weak im not gonna sugar coat it we randomly jump to a bunch of new people (expect for Fukuda who is working for 4C) and we get a bunch of brand new amazons with the threat of humans who can become them when exposed to a certain type of cell. It picks up when Hakura shows back up determined to end Iyu who he knew back when she was alive. Then the story jumps back into high gear with Jin now blind showing back up.

Right on to the things I liked. Jin and Hakura were the best protagonists we could ask for, two men with different morality who basically want similar things but couldn't agree thanks to one detail (Jin wanting all amazons dead while Hakura only wanted to take out the ones who had eaten human). All the characters felt like they had a part to play and expand on the plot. The suits and monster designs were fucking beautiful. Chihiro's and Nanaha’s amazon forms being a shining example of just how fucking good it can be. Chihiro’s especially was actually frightening and looked like something out of the SIC collection. Fuck I want them to make a SIC figure of that form just to see how fucking crazy they can make it. The music was exceptional. the two themes were spectacular and have made the way into the best themes category in my mind. Despite season two’s slowness at the start when it picked up it really picked up. The not pulling punches on showing exactly what a rider fight would do blood and gore and all. The fight scenes were well done and violent as fuck It had genuinely funny moments despite all the horror going on, there were heartwarming moments (Nanaha and Jin’s final convo for instance) that served to make the characters feel like real people. The twists made sense and made you want to tune in next episode

Now on to the stuff I didnt like. Their attempts to make Chihiro sympathetic. I’m sorry but even if the kid was less than 4 years old but aged up he still acted like a fucking shit the entire time and only focused on really what he wanted (Iyu) and nothing else. Compared to Hakura who had the same type of thing ya know not even being very old but still being a pretty decent guy (who never ate anyone as well) or even Mamoru who despite being young was STILL childlike and innocent and not a fucking shit (at first).  I hated Hiroki suddenly becoming an advocate for Amazon rights when he lost two friends to them (one becoming one and then eating the other) but seeing Chihiro and Iyu hanging out and Chihiro having a really creepy crush on what is essentially a living corpse was gross. NOT SHOWING THE FINAL BATTLE. I was actually surprised they showed only the aftermath instead of ya know the fight everyone had been waiting for. It was a real massive disappointment. Season 2′s first four episodes they kinda threw us in the deep end with out really explaining much till way after. It killed a lot of the work season 1 had put in. Inconsistent episode length. Its a minor minor thing but just bugs me that some episodes seemed super short compared to some of the others. going from 50 minutes to 30 is a big jump.

Overall I really really enjoyed this series and really hope another old kamen rider gets the same type of treatment. I really want Stronger to maybe get a run or even V3 but if they do V3 they would have to do kamen rider 1 and 2 again which ya know super fine with! I do want to know what that last little stinger with Tachibana declaring a new sigma project could mean? Another season? a sequel show? just a tease? who knows?

overall 8 out of 10. Would rewatch for sure.
