Colony Palms Hotel is one of Palm Springs’ most iconic and luxurious downtown hotels.  Located just one block off the city’s main downtown strip and built in the 1930s, the 57-room resort retains many charming features of the original Spanish colonial architecture, from arched entryways and coved ceilings to original Moorish floor tiles and is home to the Purple Palms Restaurant.

We are currently interviewing for a Director of Sales!
This position will be overseeing and managing the sales and operations of events to ensure the achievement of the Hotel and F&B event revenue, profit and guests satisfaction goals.  The scope of this role includes developing and implementing successful sales and marketing activities to secure new business, maintain existing business clientele relationships, negotiate new business, and oversee the coordination and execution of the events and banquets with other departments. Additional duties include providing site inspections and tours; creating and updating BEO’s; communication with meeting/wedding planners; and overseeing the events to ensure success and achieve guest satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Managing Sales Activities:
Manages the inside sales efforts for the hotel, restaurant and spa
Solicit/book group rooms business
Solicit/book events and banquet business
Solicit/book group spa business
Maximizes revenue generation through the process of upselling
Responds to telephone and walk-in inquiries for events
Serve the client by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations
Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked:
Negotiate rooms, food and beverage prices, function space, spa and other services
Provide guests proposals and write contracts (reviewed and final approval by Hotel and Purple Palm General Manager)
Generate all customer correspondence including proposals, contracts, BEO’s and ensuring all documentation has required signatures and initials
Event management system:  Input and update information
Confirm in writing to the guests, and all associates and management, guests’ requirements, sales contract terms, addendums, confirmation of pricing, and/or banquet event orders (reviewed by and final approval by Hotel General Manager and Purple Palm General Manager).
Assists the Hotel and Purple Palm General Managers in developing strategies and annual business plans
Works with the management team to create and implement a group sales & marketing plan addressing revenue, customers and local market.
Conduct hotel and banquet facility tours and entertain qualified clients in accordance with company and property policies 
Actively participates in community events and activities as a Colony Palm’s representative
Maintains relationships with business accounts and source new business opportunities
Maintain database with group inquiries, lost and turned down business to re-solicit
Develops and manages sales and support programs to ensure achievement of annual objectives
Develop a close working relationship with hotel and restaurant operations to execute strategies at the property level.
Attend and participates in local business/trade events as directed by Hotel or Purple Palm General Managers.
Ensure security and confidentiality of guest information and hotel information.
Operations/Event Administration:
Assist the guests in menu planning, food and beverage coordination, table arrangements, decorations, traffic flow, room set-up, VIP services, etc. 
Ensure manager(s) have a list of needs for each event/function to ensure all products and supplies are available and in house for the event
Requisition or obtain equipment and supplies needed for each event.  Ensure that they correspond to guest specifications
Check function room set ups prior to client arrival, ensuring all details are in agreement with guests’ requirements and hotel/restaurant standards. Ensure deficiencies are corrected by appropriate staff members
Greet guests prior to the onset of event
Periodically check with clients during the event to ensure satisfaction and respond to any additional requests
Prepares an accurate event bill.  After reviewing with General Manager, presents to the guests at the completion of the event and collect payment
Monitors the effective resolution of guests issues that arise before, during or after functions and channels issues to the appropriate property manager(s) in a timely manner
Leadership
Monitor and hold staff accountable for successful results
Motivate event and banquet staff and maintain a cohesive team
Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
Project a positive image of the hotel, restaurant and spa. Speak only positive comments to guests regarding staffing and hotel information. Be an ambassador of the hotel, restaurant and spa.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Detailed understanding of hotel and restaurant property operations and have the ability to perform all positions in banquet operations in order to supervise, direct, and train all banquet personnel.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate in a second language.
Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.

We are currently interviewing for a Director of Sales!
This position will be overseeing and managing the sales and operations of events to ensure the achievement of the Hotel and F&B event revenue, profit and guests satisfaction goals.  The scope of this role includes developing and implementing successful sales and marketing activities to secure new business, maintain existing business clientele relationships, negotiate new business, and oversee the coordination and execution of the events and banquets with other departments. Additional duties include providing site inspections and tours; creating and updating BEO’s; communication with meeting/wedding planners; and overseeing the events to ensure success and achieve guest satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Managing Sales Activities:
Manages the inside sales efforts for the hotel, restaurant and spa
Solicit/book group rooms business
Solicit/book events and banquet business
Solicit/book group spa business
Maximizes revenue generation through the process of upselling
Responds to telephone and walk-in inquiries for events
Serve the client by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations
Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked:
Negotiate rooms, food and beverage prices, function space, spa and other services
Provide guests proposals and write contracts (reviewed and final approval by Hotel and Purple Palm General Manager)
Generate all customer correspondence including proposals, contracts, BEO’s and ensuring all documentation has required signatures and initials
Event management system:  Input and update information
Confirm in writing to the guests, and all associates and management, guests’ requirements, sales contract terms, addendums, confirmation of pricing, and/or banquet event orders (reviewed by and final approval by Hotel General Manager and Purple Palm General Manager).
Assists the Hotel and Purple Palm General Managers in developing strategies and annual business plans
Works with the management team to create and implement a group sales & marketing plan addressing revenue, customers and local market.
Conduct hotel and banquet facility tours and entertain qualified clients in accordance with company and property policies 
Actively participates in community events and activities as a Colony Palm’s representative
Maintains relationships with business accounts and source new business opportunities
Maintain database with group inquiries, lost and turned down business to re-solicit
Develops and manages sales and support programs to ensure achievement of annual objectives
Develop a close working relationship with hotel and restaurant operations to execute strategies at the property level.
Attend and participates in local business/trade events as directed by Hotel or Purple Palm General Managers.
Ensure security and confidentiality of guest information and hotel information.
Operations/Event Administration:
Assist the guests in menu planning, food and beverage coordination, table arrangements, decorations, traffic flow, room set-up, VIP services, etc. 
Ensure manager(s) have a list of needs for each event/function to ensure all products and supplies are available and in house for the event
Requisition or obtain equipment and supplies needed for each event.  Ensure that they correspond to guest specifications
Check function room set ups prior to client arrival, ensuring all details are in agreement with guests’ requirements and hotel/restaurant standards. Ensure deficiencies are corrected by appropriate staff members
Greet guests prior to the onset of event
Periodically check with clients during the event to ensure satisfaction and respond to any additional requests
Prepares an accurate event bill.  After reviewing with General Manager, presents to the guests at the completion of the event and collect payment
Monitors the effective resolution of guests issues that arise before, during or after functions and channels issues to the appropriate property manager(s) in a timely manner
Leadership
Monitor and hold staff accountable for successful results
Motivate event and banquet staff and maintain a cohesive team
Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
Project a positive image of the hotel, restaurant and spa. Speak only positive comments to guests regarding staffing and hotel information. Be an ambassador of the hotel, restaurant and spa.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Detailed understanding of hotel and restaurant property operations and have the ability to perform all positions in banquet operations in order to supervise, direct, and train all banquet personnel.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience as a sales manager in an upscale restaurant or luxury hotel.
College degree
Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, g-mail, POS systems, Open Table)
Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to communicate in a second language.
Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
