Reviving Hope: The Vital Role of Fire Restoration Services
The aftermath of a fire can be devastating, leaving behind destruction and despair. Amidst the chaos, fire restoration services emerge as beacons of hope, offering a path to recovery and renewal. In this article, we delve into the crucial role of fire restoration services in restoring homes, businesses, and lives.
Understanding Fire Damage
Before delving into the restoration process, it's essential to understand the extent of fire damage. Fires can cause structural damage, smoke and soot residue, water damage from firefighting efforts, and lingering odors. Each aspect requires specialized attention during the restoration process.
Immediate Response
One of the key aspects of fire restoration services is their prompt and immediate response. Time is of the essence in mitigating further damage and salvaging as much as possible. Professional restoration teams are equipped to assess the situation quickly and devise a comprehensive restoration plan.
Assessment and Planning
Upon arrival, restoration experts conduct a thorough assessment of the damage. This includes evaluating structural integrity, identifying salvageable items, and assessing the extent of smoke, soot, and water damage. Based on this assessment, a tailored restoration plan is created to address each aspect effectively.
Structural Restoration
Structural damage is often a significant concern after a fire. Restoration services encompass repairing and rebuilding damaged structures, ensuring safety and stability. This may involve structural drying, repairs to walls, ceilings, and floors, and reconstruction as needed to restore the property to its pre-fire condition.
Smoke and Soot Removal
Smoke and soot residues can pervade every surface, causing discoloration, odor, and potential health hazards. Fire restoration services employ specialized techniques and equipment to thoroughly clean and remove smoke and soot particles from walls, furniture, and belongings, restoring them to their pre-fire state.
Water Damage Mitigation
Water damage is another aftermath of firefighting efforts. Restoration teams tackle water extraction, drying, and dehumidification to prevent further damage such as mold growth and structural weakening. Thorough moisture control is essential for a successful restoration process.
Odor Elimination
Lingering smoke odors can be persistent and unpleasant. Fire restoration services utilize advanced deodorization techniques to eliminate odors at their source, ensuring a fresh and clean environment post-restoration.
Salvage and Restoration of Belongings
Many belongings may seem beyond repair after a fire, but skilled restoration professionals can often salvage and restore items through meticulous cleaning, drying, and restoration techniques. This includes furniture, electronics, documents, and sentimental possessions. To know more about the restoration process you can visit here.
Post-Restoration Cleanup and Inspection
Once the restoration process is complete, a thorough cleanup is conducted to ensure no traces of damage or residue remain. Quality assurance inspections are also carried out to verify that the property meets safety and quality standards, providing assurance to homeowners and businesses.
Conclusion
Fire restoration services play a vital role in reviving hope and rebuilding lives after the devastation of a fire. Through prompt response, meticulous planning, and specialized techniques, these services restore properties to their former glory, offering a fresh start and peace of mind to those affected by fire disasters.

The fact that Restoration actively makes me, a known shisno trilogy hater, want to rewatch the Shisno trilogy says a lot
Shisno trilogy I’m so sorry I ever doubted you (except you season 16, I still don’t like you)
#jadey speaks#rvb#red vs blue#restoration critical#the more I think about restoration the more I actively don’t like it#at least the shisno trilogy understood that the reds and blues are actually friends and care about each other#the writing might have been ass but at least it had soul#and not just mindless fan service that actively misunderstood what made the fans like the show in the first place#maybe this was Burnies plan all along to get us to appreciate the shisno trilogy 🤡

what is msmc? im kinda out of the loop
Huh, I guess we never really explained that too well in our intro post, did we. Welp! Doesn't hurt to educate the newbies.
According to the Lancer Core Rulebook, pg. 411:
"A pan-galactic mercenary organization known for its low rates, broad portfolio, and civic legitimization service, the Mirrorsmoke Mercenary Company (MSMC) is formally incorporated as a “grayspace” private military company. No job is too big or too small, as long as a Union state in good standing will call it legal."
In short, there are a whole bunch of mercenary companies scattered across the world of Lancer, and MSMC is one of the larger ones (referred to in the Core Rules as a "notable non-state actor" - i.e., a smaller company than the Big 4 and Union that is nevertheless widely known across the galaxy). Best known for its terrifying legal teams and reputation as the "garbage men of the galaxy", MSMC is the company you call when nobody else will do your job for you.
There are 999 mercenary squadrons employed under MSMC, each with a numerical designation and a few nicknames apiece. This blog catalogues the adventures of MSMC-796 "Heaven's Fury", consisting of the mercenaries Angel (that's me!), Slipshod, and Lockbreaker. By association, we've kind of become the de facto voice of MSMC among the Lancer community on Tumblr, though there are other MSMC-affiliated blogs out there if you poke around a bit.
As of our interactions with them, MSMC-796 has made good friends with a fanmade mercenary group known as CORSAIR Mercenary Company, or CMC (found at @corsair-mc-official). The Core Rules list a few other named mercenary companies from the world of Lancer, such as The Golden Hand and Goblin Throne Industrial (GTI), but to our current knowledge, neither of these companies have an official Omninet (that is, Tumblr) account just yet.
So yeah, that's us! Hopefully this helped explain some things.
-- Angel
#lancer rpg#lancer ttrpg#lancerrpg#// I forgot to mention - I act as the PR rep for our squadron; and as of late have started speaking on behalf of MSMC Recruitment#// it's a daunting (and demanding) job for sure but so far I feel I've been up to the task#// admittedly we don't talk about that whole “civic legalization service” a whole lot on here despite canonically being known for it#// basically what that means is that we can grant / restore legal citizenship if you sign on with us as a mercenary#// whether that means clearing your name / records or creating entirely new ones so you can start over fresh#// pretty nifty service I'd say - both of my squadmates have undergone that process (for various reasons) with resounding success

As U.S. conservationists continue to fight for federal protections that would cover gray wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains, research released Wednesday highlights just how important the apex predators are to the western United States.
The study was published in the journal BioScience and led by William Ripple, a scientist at Oregon State University (OSU) and the Conservation Biology Institute known for his work on trophic cascades and carnivores as well as his demands for climate action.
The paper uses gray wolves to show the trouble with "shifting baselines," which, "in ecology encapsulate the gradual and often unnoticed alterations in ecosystems over time, leading to a redefinition of what is considered normal or baseline conditions."
As the study details:
Gray wolves (Canis lupus) in North America have experienced a substantial contraction of their historical range, at one point almost disappearing from the contiguous 48 United States. However, their conservation is important in part because of the potential cascading effects wolves can have on lower trophic levels. Namely, the proliferation and changes to behavior and density of large herbivores following the extirpation or displacement of wolves can have major effects on various aspects of vegetation structure, succession, productivity, species composition, and diversity, which, in turn, can have implications for overall biodiversity and the quality of habitat for other wildlife.
"By the 1930s, wolves were largely absent from the American West, including its national parks," Ripple said in a statement. "Most published ecological research from this region occurred after the extirpation of wolves."
"This situation underscores the potential impact of shifting baselines on our understanding of plant community succession, animal community dynamics, and ecosystem functions," he continued.
The researchers examined journal articles, master's theses, and Ph.D. dissertations from 1955 to 2021 that involved field work in national parks in the northwestern United States for whether they included information on the removal of gray wolves.
They found that "in total, approximately 41% (39 of 96) of the publications mentioned or discussed the historical presence of wolves or large carnivores, but most (approximately 59%) did not. The results for the theses and journal articles were similar."
While the researchers focused on wolves, Robert Beschta, co-author and emeritus professor at OSU, noted that "in addition to the loss or displacement of large predators, there may be other potential anthropogenic legacies within national parks that should be considered, including fire suppression, invasion by exotic plants and animals, and overgrazing by livestock."
Ripple stressed that "studying altered ecosystems without recognizing how or why the system has changed over time since the absence of a large predator could have serious implications for wildlife management, biodiversity conservation, and ecosystem restoration."
"We hope our study will be of use to both conservation organizations and government agencies in identifying ecosystem management goals," he added.
Amaroq Weiss, senior wolf advocate at the Center for Biological Diversity (CBD), welcomed the study, tellingInside Climate News that "I think this is a really important paper, because sometimes science advances at a certain rate without a self-introspection."
"Nature is a really complex tapestry," she said. "It's woven together by threads that hold it together and keep it strong. When you start to pull threads out like you remove apex predators, the whole thing begins to unravel."
The paper comes amid a wolf conservation battle that involves Weiss' group. In February, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) determined that Endangered Species Act protections for the wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains were "not warranted."
Two coalitions of conservation organizations, including CBD, swiftly filed notices of their intent to sue over the decision if FWS didn't change course. After the legally required 60-day notice period passed, they filed the lawsuits in April.
Earlier this week, "the cases were voluntarily dismissed and immediately refiled to avoid any potential arguments from the defendants that the plaintiffs failed to give the secretary of the interior proper 60-days' notice under the Endangered Species Act," Collette Adkins, an attorney who leads CBD's Carnivore Conservation program, told Common Dreams in an email Thursday.
"Plaintiffs believe that their case was properly noticed," she said, "but we refiled to avoid any further disruption of the proceedings."

Just wanted to thank you for taking the time and effort to put together the long climate/environment post, especially the online resources. I've wanted to replace the neglected/dead non-native plants at my place with native plants for months, but didn't know where to start my search for species except to walk around my local nature preserve trying to find something that isn't invasive lol. I'll be able to start (re)introducing native plants this month because of you :-)
Thank you for the kind words. I'm glad the post has been helpful and inspiring. If you'd like more directed guidance on native plants, I can probably point you in the right direction if you can give me a general area to work with (state would suffice!). In general, go for keystone species- those that are common in your area and support many kinds of insects- or pollinator favorites, or host plants for rare/imperiled butterflies/bees/moths.
#glad I could help :)#unfortunately I think too many people forget that helping the environment is much more than recycling or taking public transit#the most direct tangible difference comes from preserving habitat#because that's where ecosystem services come from - clean air and water and carbon sequestration and fish/game habitat#and much more. we need biodiversity and functioning ecosystems to be able to cope with climate change. if habitat is lost and#fragmented then local populations of plants and animals will struggle to persist#they need to be able to move through the landscape safely. to migrate and shift their ranges and find food#they need to maintain gene flow and a source of new individuals to keep populations alive#habitat fragmentation is as insidious a threat as habitat loss. every time a new housing development is built we chop up the land more#but it's easy to restore those stepping stones#and the effects are measurable. you'd be surprised how many species including rare ones can show up in these little patches#because a corridor can support many more species than each patch alone. connection trumps isolation. connection saves us.#the earth is a living breathing thing. the soil is alive the water is alive. this entire biosphere coevolved together. we can't break it up

This is so funny to me bc this is about my tav who is very much not the dark urge! just a bit of a freak
#tav yeric#astarion#bg3#started rambling about yeric in the tags couldn’t stop lol#yeric is pretty well adjusted for a guy who’s been living in the woods alone for a decade#he is generally really reserved and quiet#but off putting stuff just spills from his mouth sometimes#and when he does open up he says things without thinking them through (and that’s on his 8 INT)#also the thing about cannibalism is that yeric got trapped in the mountains with a bunch of travelers when he was 23#and they ended up having to cannibalize some people and eat their dead#Yeric’s partner died and he ate her#this launched the previously mentioned decade long woods isolation#and so yeric has issues around food and hunger#and a deep deep fear of people around him starving to death#so I’m some ways like getting fed on by astarion is genuinely a comfort to him#doesn’t need to worry about astarion being hungry!#he has direct proof that astarion is physically well!#all he has to do is take care of himself and cast lesser restoration and someone else can be sustained just on that! how wonderful!#yeric is also a big acts of service guy so that desire also gets fulfilled by the blood sucking agreement#at the same time#yeric also processed the cannibalism thing in a weird way where his survivors guilt manifested as a desire to be eaten#so while he genuinely does get a lot out of the agreement with astarion it is also triggering to him and does not help at all with#his self worth issues#astarion and yeric have a long talk about this post game - I think their relationship would need a break from the feeding for a while#yeric needs space to be see himself being loved outside of his utility to other people#and also to know that astarion is going to be okay if yeric takes a break from being his personal juicebox for 5 minutes

Instead of dwelling on negative thoughts I am sharing a good parenting moment I witnessed today.
While Forte (SDiT) and I were walking back to the car for a water break we passed a mother and young child. Kid was maybe five? possibly younger and lit up at seeing Forte while yelling doggy! Mom quietly told her "I know you love dogs but that one is working so we can't say hi."
Little kid immediately burst into tears and mom took her to the side of the path. In an oh so gentle tone mom said "I know you have big feelings about dogs. Do you want to tell me about it? Or do you want me to explain why we can't say hi?"
I didn't hear the rest because I didn't want to linger and make the situation any harder.
But A+ to that mom for how they handled it. What a kind way to educate and honor your kid's feelings. Love to see it.

STORY TIME.
I used to work in a cafe by the seaside in a small Cornish town. We mostly had elderly customers having a tea or a coffee almost every day. Talking to us was often their only social interaction of the day. We heard lots of stories. It was great.
One day, I was replenishing the fridge with soft drinks and sandwiches. One of our regulars came towards me and poked me gently on the ribs with his elbow. He was a lovely guy. Super witty. Great sense of humour and very kind. He pointed at something behind me:
“Can you introduce me?” He said, with palpable anticipation. The man was clearly in awe.
I turned around to look and burst out laughing.
It was his wife!! Had been married for over 50 years!! To this day, one of my favourite interactions ever.

There is a dissonance issue that we still need to grapple with. The Left must stop trying so hard to separate people who are and are not criminals. Then, we need to revisit and process our Punishment kink. Justice does not now, nor has it ever come from the Criminal Legal System. The CLS can only offer retribution, which is something different. Police, prosecutors, judges, corrections officers only serve to uphold the system. That's their only real job. Keep boots on necks.
The need to seek justice for harms done is real, but the "justice" that many of us are seeking isn't an effective solution, and more often than not only serves to further reinforce systemic harm, spreading it around like a virus.
Criminality is subjective, and also, only a symptom. It's not the root disease, and until we stop frothing at the mouths to send people we don't like to jail or prison instead of dismantling those systems and building something that actually helps, we're going to be stuck in this cycle of never-ending horrors.
The Prison Industrial Complex must be abolished completely. That means that we need to start being a little bit more creative when it comes to what we want to see done with people who cause harm.
In order to make progress, we're going to have to face the fact that even people who have committed grave harms and injustices still have basic human rights.
As long as they breathe, and with the right approach, people can learn and grow. And even if some of them can't or choose not to, not trying is a reflection on us, not them.
When humans are kids, experts agree that we do not have the right to physically punish them or put them in cages when they mess up. Pet trainers also generally agree that you cannot punish an animal into good behavior. Between childhood and adulthood, however, there is a disconnect that happens with our brains, and suddenly it's justified and expected to use such practices on living humans that we perceive as adults.
I know what I am saying is counter to what we have been taught, but we don't have the natural right to confine or harm someone simply because they have done bad things. It's not about whether they deserve to be rehabilitated based on their merits. It's about the fact that our collective soul deserves the chance to help people instead of putting them in locked facilities to be assaulted, murdered, bullied, and extorted. We deserve a social agreement that recognizes that all people should have their basic humanity respected.
People can be reformed. Systems of Oppression cannot.
