4 Factors You Must Consider Before Installing Residential Solar Panels
Tumblr media
Residential solar panels have emerged as a popular choice for homeowners in search of sustainable and eco-friendly energy solutions! Using the power of the sun not only reduces the carbon footprint but also contributes to significant energy cost savings. Nonetheless, before hiring any professionals, consider these things before residential solar installation in the Sunshine Coast and other places to have a successful and efficacious solar power system.
The Solar Potential and It's Location
You need to determine the feasibility of installing solar panels to assess your location’s solar potential. Consider factors like the amount of sunlight your area receives throughout the year, possible shade from nearby structures or trees and the orientation and tilt of your roof. Optimising these factors will maximise the efficiency of your solar panel.
The Analysis of Energy Consumption
Before you invest in residential solar panels in North Brisbane and other locations, it is essential to understand your household’s energy consumption patterns. Analyse your past utility bills to determine how much electricity you use on average. This information will help you determine the optimal size for your solar panel system, ensuring that it meets your energy needs and provides the desired level of energy independence,
Battery Storage Alternatives Are Available
Although it is not mandatory, incorporating battery storage into your solar panel system enables you to store excess energy for use during periods of low sunlight or power outages near North Brisbane. Consider the cost and benefits of adding battery storage to your solar installation, including energy independence and resilience during grid disruptions.
Budget and Financial Incentives
Residential solar installation near the Sunshine Coast and other regions necessitates a significant investment, and it is imperative to comprehend your financial limitations. Nonetheless, it is imperative to contemplate the long-term financial advantages, encompassing potential savings on electricity bills and readily available financial incentives. Consider exploring federal, state and local incentives, like tax credits, rebates or grants, that could significantly offset the initial costs.
So, if you find this blog interesting, share it with your loved ones!

6kw Solar System Brisbane - Choosing the Right One For Your Home
Getting a 6kw solar system Brisbane is a great way to reduce your power bills. This type of solar system provides enough power to operate appliances and charge your phone. There are a few things you should look for when choosing a solar system. You need to keep in mind the quality of panels, the location of your home, and the amount of sunlight you receive. Choosing the right one for your home is a smart way to save money, protect the environment, and enjoy the benefits of solar power.
The most efficient solar system is the 6Kw. This type of system will reduce the average Australian power bill by about 90%. You can get your system installed in a matter of minutes and it doesn't cost much to do it. However, the power output will vary from month to month. A standard single-phase system should cover your average daily power consumption of 26 kWh. It is also a good idea to add a backup battery to the system to reduce your energy bills. This will store energy during the day, and you can use it when your utility company shuts off the grid.
The size of your home's roof plays a big part in the amount of energy your system will produce. A large roof can produce a lot of energy, while a small roof can produce only a few kilowatts. It is also important to keep in mind that you should not install your solar system where it gets direct sunlight.
One of the best ways to get the most from a 6kw solar system Brisbane is to ensure you have a good quality inverter. The best inverters will help to maintain an electrical balance in your home, and can help to increase the lifespan of your panels. A good inverter should have a 25-year warranty, and should be able to handle large amounts of power.
Solar panels are an efficient way to generate power, but you should also make sure they are maintained properly. The panels should be free of dust, fallen branches, and bird droppings. It is also important to have enough roof space to accommodate your solar system. The amount of roof space you have will determine how many panels you need.
The average 6kw solar system produces 24 kWh of electricity per day. This amount is enough to meet the average needs of a medium sized household, but it will vary from person to person. Getting a larger system will offer more discounts and rebates. A higher wattage system will be more appropriate in areas with year-round sunshine.
You will also want to take advantage of the feed-in tariffs in your state. These can be very generous, and can make your solar system even cheaper. They are usually offered in different STC zones, so you'll need to check with your state's government to see which ones you qualify for.
It is also important to get the right angle for your solar panels. The most efficient angle for your panels is a north-facing position. This will maximize the amount of energy your solar system can produce, and will also help to maximize the life of your panels.
Certified Solar specializes in providing solar energy and energy storage system installations for commercial and residential projects. We transform our clients’ energy needs by helping them drastically reduce and eliminate their electricity bills, aiming for the maximum return on each investment.

What Is The Optimal Angle For Solar Panels In Australia?
The is no debate in the amount of Solar Gippsland power your panels can generate is significantly affected by the angle and orientation of your roof, as well as the location of your residential or commercial property.
If you are looking forward to making the most out of your Solar Panels Gippsland, position them perpendicular to the sun; this way, the sun's rays would hit the panels at a 90° angle. The solar panels seem to produce the most power in this position.
We have all heard a lot like the rooftops that face the north sun perform best; the solar panels must be placed at the perfect specific degree tilt to produce maximum power and so it.
All such things that we hear have left a lot of room for misinformation and misconceptions. So here is everything that you need to know about the solar panel optimal angle and most powerful production.
Tumblr media
Why Is The Optimal Angle Of The Panels Important?
Yes, the position at which you place your solar panel is critical if you want maximum efficiency of your solar panels. As we have already known, the more your solar panels are inclined your solar panel at the right angle to sunlight, the more electricity your solar system will generate.
By doing so, you would have more energy than you can either utilise or export for feed-in-tariff credits.
Apart from the optimal angle or tilt, there are a few guidelines for maximising the output of solar panels. To begin, a roof facing north will be the most effective as Australia is in the southern hemisphere.
What Is The Best Angle for Solar Panels?
Not that you have your panels facing north does not mean that you have achieved maximum efficiency. The optimal angle for solar panels varies depending on where you reside! Believe it or not.
As per the Clean Energy Council's data, the specific angle you should achieve varies by major Australian city. It is because the optimal angle is always equal to the latitude angle of your home.
Here is a rough guide to the optimal angles for solar panels for Australia's major cities.
Melbourne – 37.8˚
Sydney – 33.9˚
Darwin – 12.5˚
Adelaide – 34.9˚
Perth – 31.9˚
Brisbane – 27.5˚
Hobart – 42.9˚
So, if you're building a new house, you could ask for a roof pitch that corresponds to your latitude angle. This way, you'll always have the best circumstances for solar. However, when mounting the panel, make sure to attain the ideal angle as per the guide.
Tumblr media
What Much Is The Solar Output Loss When The Panel Angle Is Not Ideal?
All of this information leaves you with the most apparent question popping in your head - how much solar energy do you waste by not mounting Solar Panels Gippsland at the optimal angle?
Well, without a doubt, it all depends on the panels' orientation and angle!
If your roof pitch is between 10° and 15° on either side of the latitude angle, you will only lose 1–1.5% of the maximum solar output achievable at your location.
To take Melbourne as an example, a roof pitch of 23° would offer roughly 98.5% of the maximum feasible solar output at that location, while an angle of 28° would deliver around 99 %!

Rob Kennon Architects, Fitzroy North House 02
This Fitzroy North project by Rob Kennon Architects challenges the traditional rhythm of a house with a backyard. The home instead consists of two buildings  – one a contemporary interpretation of a workers’ cottage, followed by the main two-storey house – with a main central garden in between them, then a second garden at the very back. By rethinking a typical terrace house, this project creates a freedom and openness not often experienced on tight inner-city blocks.

Lineburg Wang, Park Road House
An existing two-storey Queenslander is reconfigured to establish a greater aspect to its generous site. Early testing by Lineburg Wang found the removal, instead of addition, of rooms would best satisfy the client desire for enhanced indoor-outdoor living. The regulatory pool fence – typically an obstruction between house and pool that seeks to be hidden – was embraced and celebrated as a full-height metal screen enveloping the north and eastern elevations.
Benn + Penna Architecture, Balmain Rock
An extension and restoration project of an 1870s sandstone cottage in Balmain East. Benn + Penna conceived the new extension as an augmented duplicate of the existing cottage, featuring cement akin in weight and texture to sandstone. The complete home is a cohesive, protected space with interiors that feel as though carved from the one rock.

Owner Builder should know this!
Owner Builders and Solar Power
Over the last few months, several of my owner builder students have been asking what I know about solar.
Fact is, I actually do know a little, having recently installed a 6.5 kilowatt system at my own home.
6.5 kilowatts is 24 panels and the single inverter which sits nicely on my West North West facing roof.
Owner builders need to consider several things if they are looking to install solar.
Firstly, as an owner builder, you are not legally allowed to do any of the works associated with the installation of your solar system, unless of course you are a licensed electrician with solar accreditation. That should be obvious.
The second thing is deciding what size system will best suit your needs. There is some confusion out there generally as to how big a system you can install, with many owner builders thinking that 6.5 kilowatts is the maximum for a single residential property. Fact is you can go bigger but they need to be separate systems.
My son has two systems, that means two inverters and around 48 panels to generate the level of power that he wanted to achieve. He is a licensed electrician and does run a solar installation company, so he did have a slight advantage.
Other factors that should be considered are how and when you use your electricity, what your exposure to sunlight is and what type of roof you have.
How an owner builder will use their electricity is important, particularly because the rebates given these days is far lees than in previous years, so your aim should be to use as much of the electricity that you produce. Retail prices of between 25 to 40 cents per kWh are typical and sales back to the grid will yield you around 16 cents.
If your place is electrically ‘noisy’ through the day, then it makes sense to generate and use as much as you can during daylight hours. We advise our owner builders to run pool pumps, washing machines and dishwasher during peak production times to get the best out of their systems.
The ideal orientation is close to North for these latitudes and the angle of installation can be optimised by matching the latitude so for someone in Cairns they would set the panel pitch at around 17 degrees, 27 degrees for Brisbane and 38 degrees for Melbourne. Owner Builders should check that this is correct, because it may be old thinking and the technology has come so far that it may not still be relevant. That’s the way it was taught to me anyway! (Fraser?).
In any case there are other factors like shade from trees and obstructions that will affect exposure and hence production.
Owner Builders need to be aware that not all panels are equal and that a cheap system may be a nasty system and not provide the same output as a good quality set up.
Of course, the question most often asked is how much will I save?
Well it depends on all the factors I have mentioned above but as a guide, and by my owner experience, the 6.5 kWh system that I have installed has reduced my power bills by around 70%. This is inclusive of a 28% discount I got by changing suppliers at the same time.
So, owner builders need to shop around and get the best deal not only from the installation companies but also through revisiting their retail supplier.
Hope this demystifies solar installation to some extent.

Best Regards and Happy Owner Building

With a total floor area of more than 17,000sqm over four levels, the Newstead store will be more than double the size of a typical Bunnings, which generally come in at about 8000sqm.
The state-of-the-art mixed-use site, located about 4km from the CBD, will consist of a basement carpark, the main warehouse, outdoor nursery, bagged goods area, cafe and timber trade sales area, and will also feature six street-level tenancies for retail or office space, totalling just under 1600sqm.

Bunnings initially paid $20.6 million for a 9400sqm site in 2011, but the development application was knocked back by Brisbane City Council. A year later it bought the remaining 10,400sqm for $16 million.
A revised DA for the new-look store was submitted in 2014 and approved last year.
“The design of Bunnings Warehouse at Newstead relates to the fine-grain and sawtooth form typical of the historic Newstead wool stores and industrial buildings,” architects Thomson Adsett write.
“The clean, simple sawtooth roof provides indirect south daylighting and opportunities for solar panel installation on north facing roof shapes. It also assists to visually break down the large volume of the building into three sections and creates a strong street presence.
“Pedestrian linkages along the northern facade will be activated by shipping-container style cafes and will adjoin a future residential development.”

Bunnings declined to comment, with an official announcement expected on site when construction begins in the next few weeks.
In 2012, Bunnings chief operating officer Peter Davis said the development “forms part of Bunnings’ continuing investment and expansion in metropolitan and regional Queensland”.
