“It’s a very significant structure,” she adds.
After William Carson died, in 1912, the son moved across the street, but the Pink Lady remained in the family until the 1920s. The Carson family eventually left the area, and the Carson mansion has been a private club since the 1950s.
The blush-colored home remained a private residence until about the mid-20th century, according to Macdonald.
After that, “It went through a bunch of different uses,” she says, everything from a popular restaurant to office space. But despite all the changes over the past 130 years, the home has been the same shade for most of the 20th century, and has locally been known as the Pink Lady.

But overall, the property retains much of its original character, Macdonald notes. The older kitchen hasn’t seemed to deter vacationers from staying at the colorful residence, or prospective buyers from inquiring about the historic residence.
