Today’s Adventure. Finally have time to catalogue a fascinating archive of material by one of the principals in GE’s development of the Jet Engines during WWII. Included in the piles of research reports and the like are a number of these remarkable blueprints, this being “Engine Assembly Aircraft Turbo-Jet”. 12 feet long and 4 feet wide. @overlord-flinx who says ‘spoken like a true Tumblrite’ on my post reminding people to register to vote.
What do you mean? I am fully aware that I use Tumblr and people on Tumblr tell other people on Tumblr to register to vote. This is because the process to sign up in the UK is free and literally took me two minutes earlier. I’m telling people bc I’m not able to vote myself (I registered as I am sixteen but will not be able to vote until August 2018, sux to be me) and I think more people should be aware of their ability to have an effect on who is in government.
It is a fact that people on Tumblr are usually in the younger part of the population. It is also a fact that younger people are severely under-represented in the electorate because they don’t vote. 2015 saw a 66% turnout (and this is only of people registered) with 43% of registered 18-24 year olds voting compared to 78% of those 65+. https://www.ipsos-mori.com/researchpublications/researcharchive/3575/How-Britain-voted-in-2015.aspx This is the source for that information.
These figures are only with people who are registered to vote, of course. The thing is that when you’re registered, you can choose if you vote or not. The power to do so is in your hands. However, once you’re registered to vote (and the cutoff will likely be before the start of June, I think), you can vote. And it’s the power to choose to do so which I think is important here.
For good measure, you can register to vote at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Fallout
The Videogame series Fallout is a post-apocalyptic which is set in an alternate timeline in the United States which divulges from WW2 in our history. This alternative world is very much stuck in 1950's cold war paranoia and the aesthetics right through the 21st century, thus the technology in the world is bizarre in contrast to the retro feel of the clothing, vehicles and music and art deco architecture of the ruined buildings. The advanced weaponry that the player can use include energy weapons much like laser guns which emit a deadly beam, also advanced robotics in which the player can use or fight.
Fallout draws from 1950's pulp magazines and sci-fi which hold a atomic age ideal which all goes wrong in the events of the game. The entire game is very retro-futuristic with the 1950's inspired clothes and such while the weapons being of a futuristic feel.
The world has become a wasteland in which the player must fight their way through to survive the creatures that were created due to the nuclear fallout and radiation as a result the player has to combat the high chances of being subjected to radiation also if the player can become addicted to various drugs/alcohol which will effect the health of the player leaving them somewhat vulnerable if they have not used in awhile.
The general feel of the series is what draws me to it, it's unique with it's retro-futuristic theme. And the storyline in which the player must make the choices that will determine the outcome of the game. The factions they side with and general karma decides whether a companion will follow you or not with the exception of Dogmeat whom will follow the player no matter what their moral standing is. The first instance of this extreme moral choice is brought in the form of Megaton in which the player has the choice to detonate or disarm the bomb that rests in the middle of the town.
The landscape throughout the game despite being a wasteland is somewhat beautiful and yet very dangerous to cross alone. The sheer lack of greenery make the player yearn for some sort of shrubbery and when/if the character reaches Oasis which small settlement surrounded by steep cliffs inside the settlement is full off trees and plants also birds can be heard singing once inside. This place feels very sacred due to the bleak landscape outside it.

My mixed media work began as an attempt to capture my frustration with photography and it's inability to represent sensation, and has moved into an exploration of mental health and anxiety - the unseen forces that govern our interactions.

A Scanner Darkly
I enjoyed watching A Scanner Darkly, it was thoroughly enjoyable watching these dynamic characters in this drug culture. The Film focuses on Bob Arctor who is also Fred an undercover agent who shields his true identity from both the group and police as is the protocol for agents using a scramble suit which is constantly changing the look of the person wearing it making it impossible for anybody to use voice and facial identification on the person wearing the suit.
While undercover Fred/Bob begins to get addicted to Substance D which causes damage to the user, he becomes to lose his grasp on who he actually is unable to tell the difference between Fred and Bob. Hallucinations also come into play when he is sitting with Barris & Ernie he see's them a giant bugs, similar to Charles whom at the beginning of the film sees his apartment crawling with what he describes as aphids.
For me Ernie was the most enjoyable character as he was very laid back and generally very amusing. The scene in which Barris brings back the "18 speed" bike which he purchased for $50, it was interesting to watch these characters argue about how many gears the bike actually had and whether or not they should go and get the rest of the gears which they claim had been cut off, Barris tells them that it was part of their plan to get more money from him. The Paranoia of the groups begins to show through in this scene.
Overall the look of the film was great to watch, with the Rotoscope animation that has been used gave the film a very unique feel to it and worked effectively. Certain parts of the background and landscapes wobbling adds a very hallucinogenic feel to the film.
