The golden sand streched meeting the ocean, they have rented a private area of the beach for the next few days, one for the wedding, and parties. Magnus and Alec danced slowly, as the song I get to love you played, all eyes were on them. Helene and Aline sitting next to each other, hand holding.

Mark was failing at making balloon animals for the little ones, Tavvy and Rafael were bored.

Magnus and Alec kissed once more, as the song changed.

"I love you Magnus Ligntwood Bane."

"I love you too Alexander Gideon Lightwood Bane." Magnus kissed his husband, bringing him close.

"TEAM MALEC." Simon yelled.

"Malec?" Alec eyed him, his arm wrappes around Magnus waiste.

"Magnus and Alec...Malec it makes sense better than the other name ideas." Simon stated, Alec noticed that the kids were bored, except for Max who was playing with what was supposed to be a flower ballon but it was just flat ballons.

"Kids, we are going back to the hotel for food." Alec called, giving Mark a small smile.

"There were all worms dad." Rafael huffed.

"Uncle Mark tried though."

He ruffled his sons hair.

"Can we go in the limo." Raf and Tavvy spoke, as Max was now bashing the balloon against his dad's arm and making roaring noises.

"Yes, go ask your granddad, and Tavvy ask your sister Helene." Most of the kids followed Alec up the stairs, he noticed that Magnus, Stanley, and Charlie and a few others were by the rocks.

"Congrats on being married." Hannah smiled at him, as he returned the small smile.

"Thanks. Oh Hannah I was wondering what is it, that your family does. Like I guess your royals, but it feels different, like there is more?" The question being in the back of his mind as he first met Magnus's dad when he was a young teen.

"Its a family secret?" Hannah walked towards the car, Alec quickly followed behind.

"But since im part of the family -"

"Okay, you know how the world opperates, so basically we get,unlimted tech, unlimited data, we get knowledge and access to other countries and sometimes when problem rises we sort it, sometimes we dont. Its like the mafia except no one knows who we are, we opparate in the background, money comes to our country and we run the globe.

There was still more questions.

"I dont get it. If your like the Mafia then how - "

"We control it, okay. Jobs and positions get passed just like the crown. Asmodeus is 17th in line, making Magnus 18th. However with the mafia positions can change, and we can go to places and govern areas. Like what Belial did in London in the 1980s." A red haired male said, Alec didnt remeber his name.

"Can you call the others." Hannah suggested, getting in the limo, sighing he turned back, and headed towards the beach.

"Alec wait up." Jace jogged over.

"Oh hi Jace." Jace bumpes his shoulder.

"Im so happy for you man. Youve come this far. Anyway I need your advice. Im going to propose to Clary, what do you think?"

"Go for it." Alec smiled, as Jace nodding his head, and running back to their car.

"Come on guys." Alec called.

Magnus kissed his husband once more.

"So honeymoon, where are you lot going?"

"Bali."

"Wow! Charlie exclaimed.

"So Magnus and Alec." Felix stood in front of the couple smiling.

"We got a superise." Stanley exclaimed.

Felix got out a key and handed them over to Magnus, looked up at them with an confused look.

"The island that we own off Costa Rica, well the family that work there are on vacation, and its empty we think you should go, since you havent been."

"Island off Costa Rica?"

"60 miles from Costa Rica. Travel by boat. The island is huge. A range of mountains, grasslands, and also we have houses and a park. Its nice, the animals are kept in their enclosure and the zookeeper will be ther-" Stanley was cut off as Raziel pulled his arm.

"Come on. Dont keep us waiting." He huffed, as Stanley pushed Raziel gently before running away as the others ran towards the steps, with Raziel walking behind them.

The house key was warm in Magnus's hand.

The couple looked at each other.

"One more trip?" Alec stated, as Magnus nodded.

Not only do water sports decrease your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and diabetes) but they've also been shown to offer a significant mental health boost. There’s a reason sound machines have multiple water options, it’s instantly calming.

This has all certainly been true for former pro surfer Jessi Miley-Dyer, head of competition for the World Surf League. “I truly believe that water sports are cleansing. I always feel like I’m a better version of myself when I get out of the water," she says.

“I started surfing when I was young and I remember just loving being at the beach. Today, surfing has become an escape; when I surf, I don’t have to worry about anything else going on in my life or in the world.”

Windsurfing

Windsurfing is one of those sports that you can definitely try out if you’re a beginner as long as you take a class at a windsurfing or sailing school. You'll stand on a surfboard holding the attached sail and zoom along the water. (Easier said than done, depending on the wind and waves around, but so worth it.)

Where to try it: Lake Garda, Italy, boasts two reliable winds making its water world class for windsurfing. The stronger early morning wind, dubbed Peler, blows north to south. During the afternoons a medium intensity wind known as Ora, blows in the opposite direction.

Book a lesson at one of the lakeside windsurfing schools to get the basics. Rest easy, there’s also no chance of drifting out to sea because you’re in the middle of a lake, plus wineries and Northern Italian fare await ashore to refuel after.

Surfing

The Blue Crush is real. If you want to enter your surfer girl phase, there’s no reason why you can’t catch some waves of your own. Never surfed before?

Most beach communities have surf schools that offer lessons for all levels.

Boating

If you read the “beginner” status and made a quick mental note of the fact that you don’t actually own a boat, don’t worry. You can find all sorts of rentals in pretty much any community near a body of water—and if you don’t want to take on any waves (don't blame you there! ), you can always opt for a lake or bay.

Where to try it: is a boating mecca. In the Glen Canyon Recreation area, you'll find all kinds of boats (speed, house, pontoon, and more) for exploring the desert region. Rent one at the marina and cruise around admiring the rock formations.

Wakeboarding

This water sport is a high-adrenaline mashup of surfing and snowboarding. Feet are strapped into a wake board with bindings, like a snowboard, and then you can hit it pulled behind a boat or in a specialty lake park with a cable system, skimming the surface of the water or flying above it doing flips and other tricks.

Where to try it: No boat, no problem. You can try wakeboarding at AREA47 adventure park in Ötztal, Austria surrounded by stunning peaks. The lake boasts a cableway to tow up to six boarders in a loop with optional freestyle features, turns, and more to keep you on your toes.

Don’t worry, the cable runs slower for beginners in the mornings and lessons are also offered to get anyone up to speed.

Skimboarding

You may remember skimboards as those funny-shaped, foam-topped boards with wooden bottoms that teenagers always seem to be messing around with at the beach. If you’re going to a beach with a large, flat slope, it's a perfect activity. While you can definitely find some pros who take their boards right into the waves , you can totally stick to the shoreline ( like in this video , but maybe without the flip at the end!

Where to try it: There's no better place to try skimboarding than where the sport got its start in Laguna Beach, California, and Victoria Beach. Here, the waves break close to the shore ("shore break"), which lets you hop on your board and play.

Bodyboarding

Don’t sleep on bodyboarding (a.k.a. boogie boarding) just because you did it as a kid—it’s truly fun for all ages. The best part?

You can truly make it as adventurous as you want. Stick to knee-deep waves or kick out ( swim fins come in clutch here) to grab the big swells.

This is also a great place to start if you want to surf but feel intimidated since it allows you to get familiar with the board and the ocean, says Miley-Dyer.

Where to try it: Ideal bodyboarding beaches are sandy and free of rocks and coral, so you don't have to worry about taking a tumble. Go to Maroma Beach in Mexico's Riviera Maya to catch some beginner-friendly waves with resort-provided boogie boards.

Kneeboarding

This activity is super popular on lakes, and for good reason: It’s not as technically difficult as wakeboarding, but it’s still so much fun. (Yep, instead of standing, you just kneel!) Of course, it does require a friend and a boat to pull you, but from there you can pretty much learn on-the-spot.

Where to try it: Head straight to landlocked Nebraska and its largest reservoir, Lake McConaughy, to get a taste of kneeboarding. Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area boasts 30,000 surface acres perfect for speeding behind a boat. Boat and gear rentals are easy to find in one of the marinas.

Snorkeling

Don’t you dare sleep on snorkeling, especially if you’re visiting a new, scenic beach. It’s truly the best way to get a glimpse of the aquatic life below without disturbing the ecosystem. If you happen to be staying at a resort, call and ask if they provide free gear to guests (they often do).

Otherwise, you can rent the snorkeling basics at most water sport shops. Just don't forget the reef-safe sunscreen !

Where to try it: Curacao is known for its marine life and rich coral reefs. You can access plenty right off the shores if you bring your own snorkel, mask, and fins and no tour required. There aren’t strong currents, so waters are gentle for beginners to float around through schools of fish and bright coral.

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving can definitely be suitable for all levels because anyone who wants to try has to complete a training class. Scope out the National Association of Underwater Instructors to find a quality instructor. From there, they'll teach you all about the equipment and breathing techniques required to explore the depths of ocean.

Where to try it: Bonaire is known as the “diver’s paradise” thanks to thrilling sights right from shore. There are more than 85 dive sites in the island's surrounding turquoise seas, and 54 of them are easily accessible off the shore. The waters are calm and clear so you're able to see all the marine life.

No experience is required either, as dive operators offer one-day intro courses for certification.

Snuba Diving

Don’t want to set aside hours of your time to get scuba certified? Enter snuba diving. This activity allows you to dive much deeper than you would free diving or snorkeling (as far as 20 feet) thanks to an air supply that remains above the water and floats along with you.

Where to try it: North Carolina's Nantahala Outdoor Center employs multiple Olympians to lead everything from gentle float trips to high-octane class IV rapids. Raft the thanks its U.S. Forest Service permit, NOC can take adventurers through both public and private lands. Also in the state is the U.S. National Whitewater Center, the official Olympic training ground for whitewater slalom racing.

Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP)

It's not just flailing around in the pool to tunes, either.

There are many variations including floating yoga, aqua spin, and aqua Zumba.

Where to try it: New York City’s Aqua Studio is the spot to try the surprisingly intense-yet-therapeutic cycling in the water. Hand paddles offer additional resistance and upper-body work while the legs peddle along to the motivating instructor’s beat.

Kayaking

Kayaking is one of those activities that you can really make your own. If you want to explore a resort, many offer up free kayaks that you can hop in and paddle around a lake or in the ocean. Or, you can always start training for rapids if you’re looking for a bit more of an adrenaline rush.

Where to try it: Head to the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico to practice your paddling and tour around the protected reserve with complimentary equipment at the resort. Then, take it up a notch and coordinate a tour of the nearby Laguna Grande. Known as a bioluminescent bay or “bio bay,” there are enough microscopic organisms called dinoflagellates to produce bioluminescence (a neon-blue-green "glow-in-the-dark" effect).

While kiteboarding requires some equipment, it’s a fun, unique way to enjoy the breeze and the waves. Where to try it: Turtle Beach on St. Kitts provides a topnotch learning environment through St. Kitts Water Sports offering private or group lessons. The combination of steady cross onshore winds and calm shallow water mean even beginners can progress fast. Turtle Beach is an uncrowded, long white sandy beach, so you don’t have to constantly worry about sailing into other riders or another kite entangling yours.

Water Polo

If you love the water and find that you enjoy workouts the most when there’s an element of competition involved, water polo is a fun option. Many recreation centers offer intramural teams , which are a great option for those that are looking to make friends while scoring a full-body workout (ahem, you tread water the entire time and can swim multiple miles in a game).

Water Skiing

Water skiing is a little difficult to get started with (ya know, you need a boat, someone to drive it, and the fortitude to try standing up over and over again), but once you get the hang of it, it feels seriously great. Lakes are definitely the best place to try it out, as you’ll want to avoid waves and wakes (which will have your knees wobbling) as much as possible.

Where to try it: Lake Tahoe is 22 miles long and boasts multiple water skiing schools, so it's an excellent spot to get comfortable with the sport for the first time and improve your skills. Head to Lake Tahoe Water Ski School in South Lake Tahoe for hands-on instruction for the whole fam and all the gear you need included.

Jet Skiing

Make sure you’ve skimmed your state boating laws if you’re going to hop on a jet ski in the United States since some states require a license (which is luckily a pretty simple process in most). But whether you're still getting comfortable zipping around or pushing your limits with speed, it's a fun way to explore a lake or surrounding beaches quickly.

Where to try it: A jet ski is an ideal way to zip around Miami’s surrounding beaches and get the prime skyline view from the water and explore one of the Miami sandbars. Book a guided tour with Miami Jet Ski Rental with photo opps, picnic lunch, boating test/certificate, and a bonus boat ride included. 2 DAYS IN TORTUGUERO

Tortuguero National Park (TNP) is located northeast of Costa Rican territory and is one of the main tourist icons of Costa Rica since it is internationally recognized for protecting the most important green turtles nesting beach in the Western Hemisphere.

Away from the city and made up by an extensive network of rivers and canals, the access is possible only through small boats: this way the Tortuguero National Park is, a place unlike any other; where small communities surrounding Protected Wilderness Area, as Barra del Tortuguero and San Francisco, still retain their traditions and also enjoy the benefit of having the bicycle as their main transportation method, making the travel a true encounter with Caribbean culture.

2 DAYS IN LA FORTUNA

The La Fortuna region has always been beautiful, but it has not always been this calm. On a clear day, the majestic Arenal Volcano can be seen looming over this peaceful town. La Fortuna’s history is intimately connected with the region’s volcano. Now dormant, there was a time when it was awake and ferocious! On the morning of July 29th, 1968, Arenal Volcano violently erupted — spewing ash, rocks, and gas for three consecutive days. As the smoke cleared, the villages of Tabacón, Pueblo Nuevo, and San Luis were found buried under the debris, with 87 people dead.

Out of this tragedy, La Fortuna (The Fortune) was born as the central town in the Arenal Volcano area. The region has become a successful travel destination, and (like the whole of Costa Rica), is a champion of sustainability. As for Arenal Volcano, it’s now dormant, so you can enjoy its beauty up-close in the Arenal Volcano National Park without being in harm’s way.

2 DAYS IN MONTEVERDE

Monteverde is a small town in the mountain ranges of Costa Rica and a major destination for ecotourism in the country. About 3 hours from San Jose, it is one of our top recommended destinations in Costa Rica. Monteverde is the best place to experience a cloud forest. Cloud forests were given their name because you will see a thin veil of clouds just below the canopy. The clouds eventually dissipate into water on the leaves and drip down, watering the plants below. It is breathtaking to see from above.

The three main reserves that protect the sustainability of the cloud forest covered mountains in this part of Costa Rica are the Monteverde Reserve, the Santa Elena Reserve, and the Children’s Eternal Rainforest. A quarter of a million tourists from all over the world come here to explore these biodiverse highlands. There’s a total of 755 tree species there, which means, that one square mile, The Monteverde Cloud Forest can have more species of trees than the entire Unites States of America. Visit Monteverde to experience what Costa Rica is all about: incredible biodiversity and environmental preservation.

MANUEL ANTONIO

The magic of the beach and the greenery of the forest come together in one place, and the result is a natural paradise. Not in vain the Manuel Antonio National Park is the Protected Wild Area that receives the largest number of national and international tourists.

In addition to beaches, the Park offers a very humid tropical forest where species of flora and fauna in danger of extinction coexist, a mangrove, marine environments, islands and a lagoon of 14 hectares.

In a short trip you can cross several paths that will take you through a primary forest. You will also have stunning views of the sea and you can enjoy the wildlife that is possible to find at any time.

UVITA

Just 1 hour from Manuel Antonio, Uvita is a small town that is easy to get around as it has paved roads throughout. The town has the main entrance to the national park and the beach, there are several restaurants, info centers, tour companies and the cheap hostels and cabinas. For someone who isn’t renting a car, you can stay in town with no problem and be in walking distance to supermarkets, restaurants, the beach, etc.

Corcovado National Park is one of the most unique and biodiverse places on the planet and visiting the Peninsula is a real treat for the nature lover. It contains over five percent of the world’s animal population just within that small area, making it a popular ecotourism destination. For example, the national park is said to contain the entire ecosystem of insects that is found between Panama and Mexico. Additionally, National Geographic describes it as the “most biologically intense place on Earth in terms of biodiversity.”

Corcovado National Park is the backpacking experience of a lifetime. It encompasses the only remaining old growth wet forests on the Pacific coast of Central America, and 13 major ecosystems including lowland rain forest, highland cloud forest, jolillo palm forest, and mangrove swamps, as well as coastal marine and beach habitats.

Square Eyes

Do they still say that if you watch too much television you'll get square eyes? Or is that an expression that went out of fashion when kids started spending all their time in front of the internet? Putting aside the obvious riposte (televisions aren't square, they're rectangular) I can report that I have been doing extensive research in this area and have come to the scientific conclusion: no, you won't. I have been watching so much television. SO MUCH TELEVISION. I never believed that I could watch such an immense quantity of television. On the whole I don't watch it during the day except for sometimes when I am having my breakfast and also when having my lunch, but in the evenings, when I have finished pretending to work, I might start watching television at about 6pm, or 5pm, or 4pm on a bad day, and keep going until, say, 11pm or midnight. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE. HOW CAN A PERSON LIVE THIS WAY. Well it's easy enough, it turns out, if you're under lockdown in London in December and it's dark from 4pm and raining most of the time and you have the emotional resources of a gnat and reading is too demanding and talking on the phone is too exhausting and the light in the living room is not good enough for doing a puzzle in evening hours and you quit social media a month or so ago because it was driving you out of your mind with anxiety. I don't watch six or seven or eight hours of television every night. Don't be ridiculous. Some nights I only watch about three hours of television because I have a Zoom call or I'm cooking dinner or I've got stuck into a good cryptic crossword, maybe the Saturday Times Jumbo one because the Guardian ones are too gimmicky, or at last I've found a book gripping yet easy enough that I can't put it down (thank you Robert Galbraith, thank you Marian Keyes), but I would say that three hours is the minimum and my god that is a LOT. EVERY DAY. THREE HOURS. MINIMUM. But you don't need to me to explain that to you because you are all watching three four five six seven hours of television every day and when you are not watching television you are phoning your friends and first of all talking about the specific way that your own personal lockdown is terrible but then eventually saying 'what are you watching on television' because what else is there even to talk about? At the start of lockdown there was quite a small pool of television that everyone was watching (that thing about the Tiger King, which I didn't watch because by the time I got back from my early lockdown in Costa Rica you'd all seen it, and Normal People which I didn't watch because I was too embarassed to sit through all the sex scenes with my flatmates, and I May Destroy You, which I didn't watch because about five minutes of it was enough to send me into a massive panic spiral, but I hear was very good), but once we had all (other than me) got through that and Covid dragged on for months, our conversations began taking on the tenor of Vikings crowding around one another as a boat returns from a foray, WHAT IS OUT THERE, WHAT DID YOU FIND OUT THERE, IS THERE SOMETHING OUT THERE THAT I MIGHT DESIRE? And the Viking says yes, there is this thing called Schitts Creek but you really have to push on through the first season because I promise you it gets better and better and you will start to love that obnoxious family. And then we all watched Schitts Creek. (Including me, it's wonderful, you have to push on through the first series you will start to love that obnoxious family, Dan Levy is a divinity in human form and if you want more of him you could do worse than checking out the lesbian Christmas-themed romcom Happiest Season, which you can rent from Amazon Prime.) And now we are beyond even that and all our lives resonate with the screeching sound of a televisual barrel being scraped and now this is when things get really interesting (or put another way, VERY VERY BORING) because everyone has fractured and we are all watching different kinds of random stuff found in the dusty corners and unloved algorithms of our streaming services. There's the friend who has got into watching obscure French crime series on Netflix (The Chalet! La Mante!) and the friend who is watching every episode of Poirot on Britbox (thirteen series, 70 episodes) (though that pales in comparison with the friend who did a total rewatch of Friends from beginning to end (236 episodes) and finished it ages ago and is starving for more) and the friend who calls me up seemingly every week with a new old show nobody else has ever heard of (such as the early 1990s Nigel Havers and Warren Clarke comedy spy drama Sleepers, which he is watching old-school-style on DVD, and which apparently is like The Americans only with Nigel Havers and funny, and also, you should watch The Americans.) When I look back on the amount of television I have watched this year it defies comprehension. There were the things I would have watched anyway like the whole of Strictly Come Dancing and His Dark Materials, and the things that took me by surprise, like the stealthily hilarious Danny Dyer gameshow The Wall that was on straight after Strictly and drove me into a total obsession with the way that Danny Dyer says "Drop 'Em" (he's talking about the balls that are dropped down the wall, it's hard to explain, you can find it on iPlayer, but meanwhile if you only click on one link in this whole newsletter PLEASE click on that one), there were the things that were created especially to get me through lockdown (the wonderful David Tennant and Michael Sheen Zoom comedy Staged, which is not only extremely funny but allows you to see inside David Tennant's house which I'm not sure I am technically allowed to watch because of the restraining order? Anyway, new series coming on Monday, fellow DT fans) and the familiar things I watched to soothe me when it all got too much (Doctor Who, starting before Tennant even gets in on the action, right at the begining of the New Who seasons with Christopher Eccleston, because armchair space travel is the only kind of travel we are going to be getting for a while) and the exciting things I watched when I could no longer bear the tedious repetition of every identical day (Line of Duty, in which the famous-for-the-far-inferior Bodyguard writer Jed Mercurio delivers ludicrously compelling twisty-turny stories about police corruption that cannot be predicted for even a nanosecond) and the things that I watched just because I loved them (Fosse/Verdon, the Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon bio-series starring the breathtakingly charismatic Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams, which is one of the best-made pieces of television I've ever seen, Love Life, the Anna Kendrick romantic comedy series which was surprisingly touching and truthful about the relationships that make up a life and which didn't make me want to open a vein as a single person the way that many looking-for-love shows do, and Better Things, a sort-of-comedy sort-of-drama written, directed by and starring Pamela Adlon, which began as a collaboration with Louis CK and initially reflected the sensibility of his show Louie, but became far more experimental and interesting once, after CK's disgrace, Adlon took over completely - the fourth series is maybe the closest thing I've seen on TV to a representation of the rhythms of real life, with long scenes of Adlon just cooking a meal on her own, or contemplating the rain, of having arguments with her children that explode from nowhere and end just as suddenly with tears or laughter or nothing at all.) And this entire paragraph is just things that I have watched on the BBC. Not even everything that I have watched on the BBC. The BBC is INCREDIBLE and my license fee has been serious value for money, before you even count all that time spent watching the news [Munch Scream emoji]. But overall, it doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of television that I have watched this year. Though while we're here, have you noticed that sometimes it's more relaxing to watch something bad than something good? Have you noticed that a vapid, cliched show like Virgin River (heartbroken city nurse with a secret moves to small town and falls in love with battle-wounded bartender with a secret), a show that makes This Is Us look like Succession, has the same effect on your brain that taking off your work shoes and putting on your slippers has for your feet? You can rest now, it says, there is nothing more for you to do. Have you noticed how easy it is to chug down, say, four episodes in a row of Designated Survivor - a show designed by a committee charged with taking elements of The West Wing, Homeland and 24, and making something similar but, crucially, much more ridiculous - without your mind even noticing that anything has happened at all? And if you're really ready for something utterly idiotic, might I suggest The Bold Type, in which three twentysomething girls in bonkers designer outfits "work" at an aspirationally "feminist" glossy magazine, and by "work" I mean constantly leave the office in the middle of the day to take care of personal business, and by "feminist" I mean "empowering women by for example having them post selfies of themselves looking perfect but without makeup on social media", a feminism so very feminist that they called the magazine's parent company Steinem in the first series and then had to change it to Safford, I can only presume because Gloria Steinem threatened to sue them. A couple of episodes of that is the televisual equivalent of having a nice relaxing full frontal lobotomy. Don't get me wrong: I love these shows. I owe them more gratitude than I can say. I would be unable to survive without them. I've managed to watch five hours of television just since starting this post24 hours ago (three episodes of Doctor Who, half a really cheap and very bad Sky Arts documentary about the musical Hamilton, and a travelogue in which Torvill and Dean go in search of a frozen lake in Alaska on which to dance Bolero but can't find one for almost the entire show because of global warming, which made me simultaneously and conflictingly want to give up air travel, fly to Alaska immediately, become obsessed with Torvill and Dean AND wonder how they managed to skate together all these decades without killing each other especially Torvill but also especially Dean). Five hours of TV, sounds like a lot, but with eight hours of sleep, that still left me eleven hours to fill in this boring boring boring boring BORING BORING BORING boring boring BORING boring BORING BORING lockdown. I think I am being incredibly restrained, all things considered. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some time to kill, having finished writing this post, and with at least five hours to fill before bed. I wonder what's on TV?
