things that Remus Lupin didn't do:
Care about music
Smoke
Drink heavily
Call Sirius stupid or talk down to him
Physically fight anyone in his human form
Threaten anyone in his human form
Hold a grudge

tried to read wfrau as i saw people rec it, but there's something bothering me in that fic. i don't like the alpha-male-ification of remus in wfrau. remus is not a beast who can fight another beast werewolves. he was a timid, sheltered boy in canon, but it's like you're making him fit into the fanon toxic wolfstar heteronormative box. it feels weird to read. please don't make me start on why it seems like you hate sirius OR use sirius as a self-insert to indulge in your fetishization of remus. like why do you write sirius as abused, when it was canonically remus who was disabled. can you consider rewrite some points in the fic, aligned to canon?
lmao where do i even start with this. uhhhhh okay first of all to answer your question - no, i will not be rewriting to make my non-canon-compliant fic more compliant with canon. if you don't like it, i suggest you don't read it! i'm not writing the story for you, and i'm not really sure why you think it would matter to me whether you like it or not. there are plenty of other fics out there that you can go read.
this fic was explicitly written to be a werewolf-fighting ring au. if you don't like remus fighting other werewolves, then i'm baffled as to why you even started it in the first place, considering that it's clearly tagged "werewolf fighting ring." i don't agree with your interpretation of canon that he was a "timid, sheltered" boy; even if i did, this fic is specifically exploring how the characters would be different in an au, non-canon-compliant version of their world. if the gay romance between two men is too heteronormative for you, there are, again, other fics out there that you can read. and if you don't want to read about "toxic" relationships then u DEFINITELY shouldn't read this fic, because none of the relationships in it are wholesome and healthy lmao. if you think i hate sirius...i don't even know what to say lol. like yeah i hate him so much that i've written hundreds of thousands of words of fanfiction about him. that checks out! and remus is fetishized in this fic for being a werewolf, which is a topic that gets explored in-depth in his pov chapter and is not something condoned by the narrative. i'm assuming you didn't read that far, though, and that what you mean by "fetishization" is the fact that sirius finds him sexy. so. again, i think you probably should just not read this fic if characters being sexually attracted to each other bothers you. i write sirius as being abused because that's the story i wanted to tell; not really sure how remus being canonically disabled is something that would cancel that out? those are two separate things. and remus's canonical disability is his lycanthropy, which....also exists in this fic. and is another topic that gets explored throughout the story.
in conclusion i truly cannot emphasize enough that i am not the person out here reccing this fic, i am not trying to grow an audience or go viral or any of that bullshit. not sure where you got the rec from, but i have actually asked people not to post about my fics on tiktok to try and avoid them blowing up there, because i do not want people like you reading them. i include an entire warning on the first chapter about the fact that this fic is dark and deals with heavy topics; i've tagged the fic thoroughly and have also included "additional tags to be added" to remind people that it's a wip and things are subject to change. all this is to emphasize -- i really, really, really don't care if any person reading the fic dislikes it. i don't care if they dislike it so much that they have to stop reading, because i don't care how many people are reading it in the first place!! i'm writing this story purely for fun, for myself, so i'm going to write what i want to write. even if you intended for this message to be polite, it just comes off as incredibly entitled to ask a stranger on the internet to spend hours of time and labor tailoring a story to your specific tastes, and if you think this type of message is okay to send then i think you should genuinely sit down and reevaluate the way you approach fandom. nobody is making you read fics you don't like, so just....don't read them.

What are your headcanons or thoughts on Remus and Lily’s friendship?
thank you for the ask!
remus and lily are in my top 5 favorite characters, i loved them and i love to put them together, but i also think they were never truly close to each other, or at least that's what canon points to
now, the reason why we even ask ourselves this questions is to read and write fanfiction. and i tend to see prequels, sequels and missing moments as fitting into somewhere in the range of "the most likely thing to happen under this circumstances" and "barely possible", the latter being often the more interesting choice, and if we have to read or write about it, we better make it interesting
so, a list of headcanons for remus and lily, not the most likely but the most fun:
lily got along with remus better than with any of the other boys during the first five years of school
they were very weird kids. before hogwarts, remus had no friends and lily's only friend was severus, making it that he had a very weak sense of normality and she had disproportional interest for the abnormal
muggle culture was shared common ground even if neither of them was too versed in it. they liked the beatles and western movies and christmas songs because that's what they had a home whenever they came back
i also suspect they'd both watch the odd episode of doctor who but i don't have any strong opinions because i've never seen a single episode
they did enjoy monty python's flying circus though
big readers, both of them. fairy tales, children's classics and as they grew up they would swap books and recommendations
later on, when the order had remus out for months and the potters went into hiding, they'd swap annotated books and leave their own commentary in the margins for the other one to read. they made through quite a list like that, james read only one book but it was don quixote
she was glad he was pointed out as prefect, even if it was just on the account of not giving james and sirius any institutional power
they argued together for the days they wanted to be free of prefect duties and never asked for the other's reason
they were very clever! steady, organized and hardworking, not necessarily like hermione, but they took value in studying magic because neither of them took it for granted and they felt genuine pleasure in learning
james&sirius and severus were obsessive creative forces and remus and lily balanced that out in a way, remus by directing focus to one task at a time and making sure it was recorded somewhere, lily by bringing out possible issues that sev overlooked when he went tunnel vision about anything
(severus was a good, practical potioneer, but lily had more whim. she recommended adding things that would correct the taste or the smell)
lily helped remus with his potions homework sometimes. not during class, because she and sev were in another world entirely and then remus didn't take newt level potions
in exchange he'd let her copy from his defense and history of magic notes when she didn't have the time to do it herself, the two subjects he did slightly better on
they sat next to each other, but in separate groups for herbology and would often gossip during class
lily had a grandmother in wales and remus' parents lived permanently there after he started school so they'd sometimes make small talk about beautiful or interesting places they'd seen
i like to think that at least once they took the same train home for whatever reason it was
the reason why lily was so dismissive of severus' theory of remus being a werewolf was because, having most of her views of wizarding world formed by him and then never facing that specific issue since the mainstream opinion was against werewolves, she thought remus didn't match the profile. when the time came that she had sufficient evidence, she questioned her views of werewolves and not her views of remus
once she and james were head girl and head boy they'd patrol the corridors with remus sometimes and the two of them would show her some of the secret passages they had found
the two of them and sirius read the newspaper cover to cover every morning and discussed it religiously (james only read the main story and the sports section, but he was somehow very aware of everything. he also trusted their opinions)
lily made sure remus ate well when he came back from the werewolf camps
she was his fiercest advocate in the order, even after he and sirius suspected each other
the first ones to laugh at peter's jokes
lily got a lot closer to sirius after she and james started to date, but she always that ease with being around remus. if he were asked, he'd list her as his best friend after the marauders, at any point in life
something they recognized about each other was fighting to choose kindness whenever they could

Bonus 3- Werewolf!Remus x Emma
Tumblr media
Warnings: 18+ readers only, werewolf sex, aftercare
Copyright: I do not own Remus Lupin or any other Wizarding World/Harry Potter characters. However, Emma is an OC based on a friend. (although since this is a oneshot, it won't be continued and I do not own the rights to the name 'Emma'). I do not condone copying this.
"Remus?" Emma asked nervously, eyeing the werewolf in front of her, cursing herself for being so stupid. Full moon and she had gone out in the woods. The werewolf in front of her was a light grey colour with orange eyes.
The werewolf growled, coming closer. It's large teeth were bared, showing just how long its' fangs were, saliva dripping down them.
Suddenly, another werewolf lunged at that one, biting it and scratching it. The first werewolf howled, running off and the second werewolf turned to Emma and she started to blush.
Obviously, the first werewolf had been female, because it had been missing the very large, very obvious appendage that this werewolf had. This werewolf was also a little darker in colour with yellow eyes.
"R-Remus?" Emma asked with more difficulty this time, her eyes continuously flickering down to the erect appendage connected to this werewolves body. It seemed that Remus' constant sexual state up to the full moon, carried over into it as well.
The werewolf leaned forwards, its nose butting against Emmas' cheek and she relaxed. Remus had taken his potion tonight and his mind was more human than animal.
"I'm so glad you're safe." She whispered, petting along his nose to his head. She had never touched a werewolf- it would've been a suicide mission- and found that he felt pretty much exactly like a dog with short hair- sort've soft, but also not fluffy either.
Remus snarled, but not in a menacing way. Emma wasn't entirely sure how to describe it, perhaps protective? Or possessive? Or maybe that was his way of agreeing with her?
Suddenly, her back hit the ground, the air leaving her in shock. Remus' claws ripped her clothes away, leaving her bare to him and her eyes darted to his hanging appendage once more. Her breathing became labored and she was aware that she was becoming slick between the thighs.
The wolf prowled around her for a second, nuzzling her again with his snout. He came back around the front of her, standing over her.
"Remus?" Emma asked quietly. "Do- Are- What-" She tried to think of how to phrase her question, trying to figure out what he wanted. He placed a paw on her chest and she found that he wasn't heavy. The paw was soft, not unlike a dog's paw. He'd drawn his claws in so that they didn't scratch her.
Then he removed it again, lowering his head, nuzzling his nose between her thighs again, before throwing his head back, howling at the moon.
Emma couldn't help but smile at him. Then Remus was lowering his elongated nose again, before licking her.
The noise that left Emma's mouth was some mix between a whimper, a squeal, and a surprised gasp. Maybe even a little bit of an unintentional scream.
But once she got over the fact of what had just happened, she realized with flushing cheeks that she liked it.
"Remus." She moaned softly, hoping to encourage the wolf, though she couldn't admit even to herself that that's what she was doing.
The wolf took the encouragement, licking her repeatedly. She fell back into the leaves, panting. His tongue was longer and thicker as a wolf, not to mention able to go deeper inside of her. It was such a strange, unnatural feeling, but Emma found that she craved it.
"Feels so good." She breathed out, staring up at the midnight sky, the full moon glowing perfectly above her. "Remmy."
The wolf continued to do as it liked, his licks long and pleasurable. Emma could feel the slowest build up of an orgasm in her abdomen. She craved it, pushing her hips forwards a little as though in a dream, so that Remus would increase the pleasure to cum.
The wolf growled, tongue actually circling her clit before his tongue delved deeper into her cunt. Her legs shook, knocking against the ear of the wolf, but he took no notice, focused solely on the task in front of him.
And then, when Emma thought it could last no longer, she burst, releasing on the wolfs' tongue. The wolf growled deeply this time, lapping up her juices, before pulling away. His yellow eyes seemed darker, satisfied, but still craving.
Emma couldn't help it. She shakily kneeled, reaching forward, wrapping her hand around the wolfs cock. Remus let out a whine, ears drooping, eyes closing slowly.
Emma realized she was shaking, her hand trembling as she moved it up and down. If Emma were to close her eyes, she wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between the wolf and Remus when touching the long appendage.
It was still just as thick and long as Remus', no difference at all besides maybe the way it was hanging.
She found herself on her back again, the small of her back stinging where she'd landed on a small stone. She wiggled a little as Remus stood over her again, yellow eyes having darkened to amber.
The wolf growled against the side of her cheek, before lowering himself directly in front of her.
"Remus please." Emma begged before she realized what she was saying. But she didn't take it back, waiting on bated breath, before Remus pushed inside of her.
Now, there was a difference. She felt fuller than she thought possible at the halfway point and when Remus had pushed his way fully inside, she thought she was going to burst. Remus as a wolf was not patient or kind, only needy. He started to fuck her before she had adjusted and she had to ride out the pain before it turned into pleasure.
Once it became all pleasure, Emma opened her eyes again. The wolf was moving slower now, as though in a tired way, but not quite. The wolf looked up at the sky and she could see that the moon was becoming lighter as. . . as the sun was coming up!
The wolf started to change, even as it continued to fuck Emma slowly. The snout shrinking back into a normal nose, the yellow eyes becoming a warm brown. The gray fur fading, becoming the smooth tan skin of her husband.
Remus stilled for a second, looking down at her with shadows under his eyes. He was still balls deep inside of her, one hand tangled in her hair, the other pinning her hands down.
Emma smiled a little, looking up at him. "Remmy."
Remus seemed to scan her over, before pulling her up into his arms and started thrusting into her furiously. Emma cried out, clutching at his shoulders, scraping her nails down his back as the pleasure pulsed in her cunt, squeezing around his cock once, twice, five times before she was cumming fiercely.
Remus snarled, slamming his hips into her, before spurting up inside of her, coating her walls white. He let her back down on the ground, pulling out of her slowly.
"Em?" Remus asked hoarsely, hands cupping your face. "Emma did I hurt you?"
"No." Emma murmured softly, sitting up with a tender wince. "You protected me Remus. There was another werewolf and you scared her off."
"Her? How did you know it was a her?" Remus asked while staggering to his feet, looking around. He found his wand under a bush and summoned clothes for the two of them.
Emma blushed darkly as Remus wrapped her in his cloak, picking her up in his arms. She reached up, picking a leaf out of his hair and murmured. "She didn't have. . . you know. Your. . . thing."
Remus went as red as Emma, looking up at the castle instead.
They made it to his quarters without seeing  a single person and Remus carried her straight into the loo. Emma sat gingerly on the toilet while Remus filled the bathtub with hot water, pouring in an ample amount of apple and honey soap into the water.
He undressed, groaning and wincing, before helping Emma into the water, following her in.
"Here bunny." Remus whispered, washing her back gently and carefully. "Does anything hurt? Should I fetch a healing potion?"
"No." Emma said, shaking her head. She ached, yes, but she wanted to remember this. She looked over her shoulder at him. "Remmy, are you okay? I mean, you know, with what happened? You didn't hurt me or bite me or anything. And. . ." Now she face the front, cheeks burning. "It was really good."
Remus' chest rumbled against her back, his arms tightening around her. "I'm alright. It was a bit of a shock, coming around to see you really there. I thought I had fallen asleep and it was a dream. But being aware in a werewolf body has always been a dreamlike state. I was more afraid you would hate me for it."
"Can we do it again?" Emma asked, shoulders hunched as she spat the words out quickly, as though a faster delivery would mean acceptance.
Remus breathed out, his hand freezing where he had been washing her. "I-" Then he paused an cupped her face so that she was looking at him. "Yes Emma."
Emma leaned up, touching her lips to his and he pulled her tightly into the kiss. "I love you Remmy."
"I love you too bunny."

Go OFF lovely give us your TED talk about Dumbledore
Dumbledore masqueraded as a force for good and change and he was neither.
Dumbledore was a force for the status quo of what he considered "morally right" which is, in itself, a massive grey fucking area.
Man was not only head of the only known magical school in the UK but also held multiple positions/titles of power/prestige throughout the society.
He had the magical power and political and social clout to enact real and measurable change on multiple levels of UK wizarding society and, more than likely, wizarding society as a whole thanks to ripple effect, for decades and he did not do it.
Dumbledore was one of the only people who knew the full story of how Tom Riddle became Voldemort just like he knew what drove Grindelwald.
He knew what made both of the two most powerful Dark Lords UK and Europe had seen in centuries, if ever, and he did exactly nothing to stop history from repeating itself.
There were numerous students Dumbledore was in a position to help that he did not help and there were numerous changes Dumbledore was uniquely positioned to handle/enact and he chose not to do any of them.
From Riddle to Snape to Sirius to Harry himself. Dumbledore could have helped them all and he didn't.
Take Remus Lupin for example. Yeah Dumbledore let a werewolf into Hogwarts as a student and then later on as a teacher.
That was a good thing for Remus and a kind thing to do on the surface, but what's important is that Dumbledore only helped one werewolf.
Dumbledore doesn't get the same kind of pass we'd give to other characters when it comes to advocating for change.
Dumbledore had the position/power and responsibility to change things and he actively chose not to.
He could have used his influence to help all werewolves as Remus Lupin proved that they were not innately evil/dark and could, in fact, just want to be regular people with regular lives.
He did not do that.
Instead, he helped a single werewolf that just so happened to come to his attention when he was young, vulnerable, and not already aligned to any other faction/power. And that kindness he showed Remus Lupin made Remus into yet another "Dumbledore's man for life".
He then sent Remus out to attempt to negotiate with other werewolf packs when it became obvious they would likely join Voldemort's cause.
Dumbledore didn't care about them until it became possible they would be opposition instead of a neutral party.
Same could be said for Hagrid's entire situation and then later on the giants. Dumbledore knew Hagrid was innocent but did he get his name cleared? Did he help him get the life that was taken from him back? No. He made him groundskeeper, a position good and high enough to keep someone as unique as Hagrid both close at hand and useful as well as loyal.
Dumbledore wasn't a force for good, he was a collector.
He gathered discarded, mistreated, and overlooked individuals, and he granted them just enough kindness to gain their loyalty.
Then he held that loyalty over their heads until they were no longer useful or until it led to their deaths.

The Auror Question
I would like to talk for a minute about Ch 18 of LTL, and the ethical implications of a werewolf dating an Auror. If you haven't read the chapter and would like to avoid spoilers, come back after. <3
For those who are reading this meta without having read my work, I do not tiptoe around this subject in LTL: I grab it by the throat. This entire point is something that I have been building towards since Ch 7 (incidentally, around the time I actually started to plot the story out properly lol.) And it's basically THE moment of character development for Dora in LTL. Her moment of crisis. The turning point of her character arc. So in Ch 7, you get the following:
Remus details why he's not going to have any luck swinging the werewolves and all the threats they face (himself included)
The Order very clearly Does Not Get It
Dora defends Remus and takes the rest of the Order to task for effectively dehumanizing him
And that's the point where Remus finally goes "yes, okay, I'm in" and starts the relationship with her. Because he sees that she sees him as an actual person and is willing to try. Which is huge for him. (Ya boi's bar is LOW okay?)
Dora is still very idealistic in the beginning: she's still a fairly fresh Auror and isn't as well-versed in How Things Work as, say, Kingsley and Moody are. So she's got it in her head that this is something that can be quickly and easily fixed, and she's just gotta be patient and work at it from the inside, and Remus can see that she really believes that. It's... endearing, in the beginning. But by this point in the story, he's really beginning to struggle to reconcile his feelings for Dora vs Auror Tonks. Their relationship is under clear duress, and they've been fighting a LOT, despite how much they've come to love each other. If she had continued trying to "both-sides" it, they would have eventually hit a breaking point, and Remus likely would have put a stop to things -- he does actually have an amount of self-respect in this story, appearances aside.
There are several major points that begin hacking away at this pillar of her belief system leading into Ch 18:
Lyall in Ch 11-12 (just... Lyall.)
The confrontations with both Draco and Umbridge in Ch 13. (The Draco one was So Small but also So Big.)
The hearing and how it was handled in Ch15-16
The general public response, and the mail bomb in Ch 17.
The way that Remus responds to all of the above.
Every bit of information is like a battering ram: she cannot ignore it. She cannot rationalize it or explain it away. This is more than just a few assholes. This is systemic. And Remus had been trying to tell her that and she was hearing him but not really understanding. It was so far out of the scope of her personal experience that she couldn't wrap her mind around it fully. Like, she thought she understood. But she didn't, not really. She's only beginning to understand as she and Remus continue weaving their lives together.
However, Dora hit a crossroads the moment that Scrimgeour confirmed that the law she'd sworn to uphold did not protect Remus -- in fact, quite the opposite. And that if she wanted to continue to uphold the law, she would be co-signing the idea that her partner was not only subhuman, but that he was "deserving of death." There would be no concessions made. So she follows her conscience, and she divorces herself emotionally and morally from the Department. She is preparing an exit strategy when she is suddenly forced to stay due to Bones' assignment -- if she didn't, it would have put Remus and Sirius' lives in immediate danger. But she's still shaken and questioning everything (I mean if she's staying NOW, maybe she should just try to stick it out?) until the moment that Lyall accosts her, and THAT is when she breaks. She chooses, and she chooses Remus -- immediately and unequivocally.
It is a MONUMENTAL move on her part, and it came from months of pressure building, of cracks appearing and then growing. And best of all: it gives some validity to Remus and his (normally very good) ability to read people. He trusts Dora, despite her occupation, and she's finally showing that she's deserving of that trust. She has now divorced herself morally and emotionally from the Department, which was really the biggest sticking point with Remus (he doesn't really give too much of a shit where she's getting her paycheck from, as he understands where her skillset is. Her options are fairly slim unless she gets into an entirely different field -- but that's a discussion for later.)
Overall, this entire chapter was a bit of a come-to-Jesus moment for Dora, and when given the choice between doing what was right and what was easy, she chose what was right at every turn, taking Remus and Sirius' safety into account with EVERYTHING she was doing. It is probably the strongest reminder that I can give my readers that her mother is a Black, born and raised, and Dora learned a lot from her. (How to play with knives, for instance.)
Definitely going to have some fun moving into the next phase of the story. :)
