今月の大筆レッスンが出来ました。 Finally, my assignments are done. This month I have practiced more than I have in the past. I think it’s because I’m changing how I practice. This time I was able to feel myself pushing the ink rather than pulling the ink. I was able to visualize my character on the page before I even started. I was able to confidently begin my stroke and move with confidence and end with confidence. This is much different than the way I have been doing it, which was nervously placing my first mark, slowly moving across and stressing that my end point was right. When your brain is cloudy and you are filled with indecision, it’s difficult to make decisions that will get you where you want to go. When your inner monologue becomes so overwhelming that you can’t finish a thought, let alone something on your to-do list, it may sound tiring.

While many people emphasise the importance of a positive attitude, it is preferable to have a straightforward mindset. This is the formula for success. When we are unsure of who we are or what we want, a significant portion of our brain space is consumed. The most effective way to increase your life’s certainty is by Being True to Your Purpose.

Once the idea is set, once the purpose has been defined, NOW IS THE TIME TO CREATE A SHIFT. AWARENESS WITH PURPOSE IS CONSCIOUSNESS.

In Coaching one way to stay on your purpose, is to practice Reflective Thinking.

Homework, if you can call it that.

Before starting this assignment, I never would have dreamed I could get away with doing half of these things under the guise of homework. 

It’s almost half way through my personal change challenge so I thought it would be beneficial to note of some of my practices that have been helpful in challenging my gender stereotypes. 

Journalling

This has been one of my most important methods of reflection. Dedicating time to writing about certain parts of yourself instantly validates that which, until then, you were choosing to reject; lamentably, ignoring feels doesn’t make them go away. It’s also a great way for me to comprehend feelings before sharing them with other people in a way that we both learn from. 

Sharing thoughts and feelings

Whenever I have a thought trying to suppress another thought or feeling, I let that which I am trying to cling to go. These counter-acting anxieties are just years of ingrained ideas about what it is to be a man giving their own voice to my ideas, sadly for them, I’m not so attentive to what they have to say right now. 

Engaging my romantic

This used to be incredibly difficult for me, as romantic display is the height of emotional openness. Throughout the whole process you are thinking about that person and preparing to put your feelings on an open stage for them. 

Attending events outside my comfort zone

Ecofeminist exhibitions, theatre, singing, classical music, dance, and plenty of jazz (sometimes I forget this is a coursework assignment). That’s not to say any of these performance types are feminine, but these are art forms all of my role models would have firmly dismissed. 

Exploring my creative

Making things and stylising my personal space. Again, these are things I’ve always tagged as feminine and have steered from. Trying these things is not inherently about doing something I see as feminine in a counter-balancing way, and more in that I have removed a barrier (my gendered idea of what I should do) to things that I regard highly.

Production Schedule

Here is a few screenshots of my original production schedule. Through looking at my schedule, it is evident when reflecting back upon my journey that I have not met my original production schedule and have gone off track several times because positive and negative experiences, this is something I mention in my evaluation. However I feel it is okay to have slightly changed and devised a new production schedule, this in turn shows I have developed and my journey has progressed. Furthermore if I was to stick to my specific schedule I do not think my journey shown any inch of progress since the beginning which contributes to success. I have learnt that experimentation and creativity is crucial within this journey. I feel positivity and being open- minded is necessary when embarking on an individual personal project. Through my creativity and experimentation I think my project has developed greatly. I am extremely proud of my journey and the book I have produced.
