Past ENLIVEN designers Simon and Elaine Burnell have created an alternative Mayoral Chain of Office as a gift to the Borough of Eastleigh. This talented pair created the unique chain by upcycling materials donated by Southampton Airport and GE Aviation. The coat of arms was engraved by artist Carly Mann from The Sorting Office studios in Eastleigh. Carly was also commissioned by Prysmian Group UK to work with them to create a new ceremonial mace as a gift to the Mayor of Eastleigh. The body is formed in brass by the team at Prysmian, then plated in gold and silver. The glass panels in the mace head were painted and gilded by Carly.

This is what designer Elaine Burnell has to say to anyone who is thinking about applying for the ENLIVEN Fashion Project 2015. She took part in our fashion upcycling challenge in 2013 with her brand RECYCLEDFORYOU and won a prize for her stunning designs created with partner Simon. There are only ten days left to apply so click here for more information!
