Rare and collectable! Quartz movement running while cataloguing. Dial looks nice and clean. Diamonds and gemstones in nice colours and sizes, diamonds totalling 1.04 carats. 2 cats, case retain good definition, but please note that only one earing remaining on one cat. Case retains crisp French 18k gold hallmarks and case maker's mark stamped in 5 places: 1. On the outside of the case back, in the center 2. Right panel of the base 3. This piece belongs to a series of one-of-a-kind clocks produced during the early 1980s, made on special request for Patek Philippe customers.  The lapis lazuli and turquoise used in this exotic piece are typical of the jewelery and design of this period, with an emphasis on powerful symbols of status and luxury.  For similar clocks see Erhart, R., Demesy J., Patek Philippe, p. 217, 219 and 220.

ky and rim are hanging out, and lupus is en route to rescue them, and my god! action! intrigue! could this be the soul pearl? (reader, it won't be.)

Ky walked around the cave. "It seems I'm stuck." "Nah, I can get us out easy" He laughed. Then there was a rumbling. Rim stopped. "Hmmm?" she asked, slightly scared. "What was that, Rim?" "What was what?" Lupus asked, popping up from under the water.

He really knows how to make an entrance. Crucially, also, we get a Clove update:

Clove found some berries near by and picked it. Then she ate it.

I love her, I love Virginia's dedication to not catching up too much with what's going on in the story. Clove found some berries nearby and picked them. And then she ate them. Flawless.

There's a bit where Obsidian "looks down at Lupus" meaning... what... looking down at Lupus swimming away? I don't think they can see him right now! Anyway, Obsidian appears to be ready to make fun of Lupus for... for what? For being worried about Ky??? Correctly, Quartz tells him to pipe down and stfu.

Down in the cave (so many caves in these stories. caves within caves), Lupus and Ky reunite. Also, Augustine mentions that he was grounded! I did note his absence. Time always felt so slow and full back then – I'm sure he was really away for, like, two days.

"Lupus!" Ky shouted. She ran across the stone cave floor. She hugged him as hard as she could. "Now get us out of here!!" He nodded slowly, then stopped. "I hear something..."

Rim watching all this unfold like man_emoji.jpeg which is also the nature of Moopy observing this roleplay. Instead of contemplating his third wheeling too long, though, Rim suddenly works out what's going on. Look, the narrative tells us as much –

Rim suddenly worked out what was going on. He grabbed their wrists and dragged them out of the way of the stone slab which dropped down, blocking the entrance. "Common trap system of some ancient race, I don't remember which one," He heaved, "Do you want to take your chances running through a trap system with me or do you want to trust that I'll get halfway quickly?" "I can do it," Lupus said. "Good thing everyone didn't come here. Ky, do you have experience with these things?"

Lupus, buddy, as if you have experiences with convoluted and kind of goofy underwater trap systems. Reader, he doesn't!! Nobody does except possibly Rim's Boy Detective ass. Somewhat incoherently, our favorite boy detective explains that we are doing Indiana Jones now.

Rim cut in. "No, we need someone to go in there and start the trap system. My guess is that there'll be multiple entrances, I'll go through the one to the far right, and you go through the one next to that," He chattered, a serious look on his face. "Now Ky, if you could step into that rectangular shaped hollow in the wall and pull the lever…" Ky nodded and did as she was told. Lupus stepped through the indicated entrance. "We have to hurry." Rim shot through the entrance, and there were eight paths of stepping stones. They were slowly sinking, and the liquid was "Quicksilver, mercury" He yelled leaping from stone to stone. "And the stepping stones are sinking!"

Thank god, honestly, that among all of the very us-authored adventures Moopy got to take some leads of their own. Lupus confronts his own, somewhat less frightening adventure where he has to cross a narrow bridge over tentacle-infested waters. Jack has this iconic line:

Ky felt herself being lifted into the air and tossed aside by a giant raven "What is this place?!?"

To which Moopy finally explains that their idea was for Lupus and Rim to navigate traps together while Ky stayed behind and trusted that they would navigate the traps in time, which is... like, fair enough. Sand starts flooding Ky's room, Rim dodges boulders, Lupus jumps across rocks and avoids tentacles (did I nix the bridge between storyline comments???) and Lupus and Rim pull levers to move on to the next room.

Clove turns into a water dragon (she can still talk). Everybody ignores this.

More importantly, pendant drop as Ky's room gets flooded with sand.

The door to Rim and Lupus rooms opened and they emerged into two different rooms, there was a lever, and a podium with a pendant on each one. The pendant were necklaces with spheres of crystal On lupus podium the sphere of crystal was a bluey white and rolled cold, just looking at it seemed to make you feel cold. It had metal in the shape of jagged ice around it. Rims pendant was an aqua orb, it seemed to shift and move, as if it were liquid. The metal around it was a wave in a circular shape Rim walked over to his slowly, just watched it for a moment before remembering what he had come to do. He looked around for an exit, and seeing one shut, picked up the pendant and walked over to the exit. The pendant seemed to fill him with power, and when he looked at t closely, he could almost hear waves.

There's some confusion over how many levers there are and whether Lupus pulled his.

Rather perturbed, Lupus pulled the lever immediately. Ugh. This was James's or Lorcan's specialty, though at least he could navigate traps and follow orders. "Right. Now what?"

He's so me. Also why do we know what Lorcan's specialty is. Nobody knows anything about the man.

Ky gets freed from the sand and gets a pendant of her own, Lupus and Rim gets their own pendant, and up by the shore, Quartz worries about why they're taking so long, which is sweet. Rim contemplates that the lever mechanism is a trust test – you have to trust that the person doing the trap system with you has to pull the lever every time. I do not really think the mechanics of this are very well established, but it's an idea, which nobody else has had for several days because they're too busy doing cannonballs. Also, in a comment, we learn what Rim looks like!

The story perks up in terms of compellingness when the old-ass trap/lever system BREAKS, BADLY, and –

Lupus saw the lever ahead of him. Now knowing what to do, he ran forward and pulled it. Lupus's door opened. "Well done, Ky," Lupus called across the room and looked toward the door on the other end. "Rim should come out any minute." Rim watched sand pour down even faster and realised what had happened. The pulley system that should of opened his door had broken. It was already up to his chest. Rim was struggling to stay above the surface of the sand, but he was up to the roof now. He held his breath and the sand filled up the whole room. Sand leaked out of small cracks, hissing Lupus looked at it apprehensively. "He should be out by now," he said uncertainly. He then glanced at the cracks. "Ky! You don't think that..Rim's room is working differently or something? Broken, or a trap?" Rim was losing conciousness. Then the pendant that he had hung around his neck began to glow faintly. Lupus and Ky's pendants flashed brightly.

It's funny: this roleplay style of narrative is impossible to replicate in a novelistic manner, but it's so fun to read and write things that are happening in different rooms and still impact each other. It's a very hard thing to recreate, aside from in comic format.

Rim suffocates slowly due to Dying Of Sand, Lupus kicks the wall and worries, and eventually it occurs to Lupus to funnel the magical energy in his pendant to that of Rim's.

The pendant floated upward of its own accord, and floated of its own accord next to Lupus's nose. It was now glowing more brightly than ever. Suddenly, Lupus felt his power over ice ebbing away, into the pendant. A chill filled the room for a while, then left it. The energy passed through the wall and into Rim's pendant, enhancing Rim's power. (I dunno....) Rim was barely concious, but felt water. Or rather, the essence of water, in his pendant. He let loose a torrent of water which smashed the wall, letting him out in a flood of wet sand. he lay on the floor, spitting sand out of his mouth and gulping down air. Lupus rushed toward him. "Are you okay?" He felt rather odd from the pendant's extraction of energy. "Wait, no, that was a stupid question and deserves a sarcastic response." Rim barely heard but he shook his head. "I think I've felt worse though" He managed to say and dragged himself to his unsteady feet. (Timeskip back to the beach?)

They have a fun dynamic. Isn't it nice when people who aren't in love still get to be friends and hang out? This could be worth learning from.

We cut to Quartz,diving under to keep a lookout – presumably she's coming down and then coming up, given that she no longer has Rim's diving helmet.

Noting that Rim didn't look too good, she surfaced. "Guys! They're back!" "Oh, good," Obsidian said, feeling like he had breathed out after holding his breath for the whole time they were gone.

Wow, they care! It is nice to see Obsidian worry tangibly about people who are not Quartz or Chuji. Moopy and I do a little bit about having almost one hundred pages worth of roleplay. We learn that Rim hates sand, which is very real.

Rim came ashore feeling slightly better, and instinctivly lay on a rock rather then sand. He lay there soaking up the suns warmth. 'What was lighting up down there?' he wondered but filed it away in his brain under: to tired to think about right now. "What happened down there?" Quartz asked, looking from Lupus's eyes, which seemed less icy than usual, to Ky, shaken and covered in sand, to Rim, lying on the rock. "Too much sand," Rim replied. "Is all you need to know. There was way too much sand. And these," he held up his pendant. "Not worth it though." She raised her eyebrows. "Okay..." "What I don't understand though," Lupus said to him in an undertone, "Is how you got out." "Flashy light thingy, and the pendant was water" He muttered and passed out. "I'll look into it," Lupus said, more to himself than anyone else. Now that Rim was probably going to be okay, he hugged Ky, then sat down on the sand.

Really, you guys, give him some water or something instead of immediately asking him a bunch of questions. This is not a very heavily weighed or plot-important act of passing out, though, because Rim just wakes up and gets back to the technicalities. You can tell it's just me and Moopy online because we are both pretty stoked about this stuff and ready to technobabble. But how about we save that for another part?
