About the flag

On April 4, 2002, the County Commissioners adopted this official county flag for the first time in its history. The celebration of Ohio's 200th Birthday was the catalyst for the endeavor. Over thirty designs were received from students, residents and workers of Mercer County. The commissioners accepted the flag created by a group of nine individuals employed by Fanning/Howey Associates located in Celina, the county seat.

Foundation of Lighthouse – The foundation of the lighthouse is comprised of  fourteen stone blocks, representing the fourteen townships in Mercer County, Ohio.

The historic Duval-Metz property is owned and managed by the non-profit Duval Preservation Trust, Inc., with assistance from support groups. The Fort Cooper Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is one such support group. Fort Cooper Daughters of the American revolution Offer Free Tours of Duval-Metz House Feb. 8 Members of the Fort Cooper DAR have been docents for the house tours on one Saturday during each month from September through April. In addition, the DAR has generously installed a bronze marker on the corner of the property facing Orange Avenue which relates a brief history of the house and builder. In 2024, a path was cleared on the south acre of the property in preparation for a venue to preserve and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
