“Where is all the content that previously existed on this blog?”
This is genuinely a heartbreaking revelation, but to cut a long story short: did you know that Tumblr allows you to register more than one blog to the same email address? But that, despite allowing this, if you log into just one of those blogs and specifically select to close down that one, isolated blog, it will delete every account under that same email address and erase every post from every one of those blogs? And did you also know, despite this huge website flaw, Tumblr holds no account backup to restore lost blogs?
Well, let me tell you, I certainly know now!
This blog has been mine for many years, and it had many years of my writing for it, spreading through multiple fandoms that I fell in and out of love with throughout those years. Just over 3,000 people had found this blog and enjoyed the content enough to follow it. Some of them may have only stuck around to reread older works from fandoms I no longer wrote for, that history was a source of nostalgia for them as much as it was for me. And now, all of them and all of that content is gone. And because I have no means of restoring any of my previous work, many of those people will not find their way back to my blog, because I am no longer as involved in those fandoms.
Of course, this is not entirely the fault of Tumblr. Naturally, I should have had a means of storing my own work elsewhere, but perhaps foolishly I trusted Tumblr to keep my posts safe. I know now that, going forward, I cannot put that faith in this site.
That said, I feel that I owe it to a lot of you to at least try. I cannot remember the full extent of the majority of the writing I posted across all of those different fandoms, but at the very least, I will be attempting to write a few blurbs and headcannons for each of the characters whose content has been lost, referencing details I recall from said lost content. I do not know how long this will take me or how consistent I will be, but I promise you, I will do it.
As of now (29/12/2022), all I have are the most recent pieces I’d written for Brienne of Tarth, as these were still stored in the bin of my documents folder, due to be cycled into the abyss until I was thankfully able to restore them.
Any writing posted here, from now on, outside of the Game Of Thrones franchise, has somehow been recovered or is being written and posted almost in homage to what I - and, to any of you that have found me again, we - have lost.
Thank you for reading, nobody is more sorry than I am for this.
- Heather

found out today that google is full of sh!t PLS PROTECT YOURSELVES
my account got hacked, the hacker changed all my recovery details and now has access to my google drive files, my emails, any photos in google photos, and also the login info to so many websites that use google and there is NO way to get anything back or at least delete the acct.
You would think that google, as a company offering to store and handle so much info and FILES in particular and also passwords and login infos for other websites would have some kind of support for this but no they don't even have a single customer service phone number or any way of recovering anything. I searched around online for solutions but the internet is FILLED with THOUSANDS of ppl with the same concern for YEARS who lost their files, lost their connected youtube accts with thousands of subscribers. I lost access to my yahoo acct too but they had a customer service phone number (paid) but at least they verified my identity and helped me to get access back and secured my account. PSA: DO NOT RELY ON GOOGLE TO SAVE ANYTHING FOR YOU. BACK UP YOUR OWN STUFF ELSEWHERE. If anything goes wrong there is literally 0 recourse - google offers absolutely 0 support:
Tumblr media
My only wish now is to be able to at least delete the account so they don't have access to all my info anymore but there is literally no place to go for that so I just have to be okay knowing some evil people indefinitely have 10+ years worth of my private info (emails, files, photos)
PLS learn from my mistake and use this opportunity unentangle yourself from google. They literally. have no recourse if anything goes wrong. It's not like it's impossible: Yahoo literally asked me for my state ID and location to give me access back to my account.

Seeing discourse about strikethru and the ff.n m work deletion on my dash in relation to the creation of AO3 is wild as someone who got caught up in both of those things.
yeah, my author journal was lost in strikethru. I wasn't a pedophile or a deviant or whatever puriteens are trying to frame it as nowadays. I was just a regular ol fanfic writer, writing regular ol fanfics. Most of which weren't even explicit. Actually come to think of it... None of which, at that time, were explicit.
I didn't write smut off of anon kinkmemes until way later.
I also had fic deleted without warning in the ff.n wipe of M rated fic in idk 2002 or whenever that happened. A couple of which were before I got savvy and started backing up everything always. None of my works were explicit. They were however widely beloved and many were and are considered fandom classics in the fandom I wrote for at the time. Several of them were never recovered to my knowledge and now and then I get an email forwarded from my ancient Yahoo email address from some sweet soul asking if I have a copy of one of my lost works.
What people are failing to understand here is when these sites decide to nuke all the content you want nuked, they just carpet bomb. They don't carefully select and make sure only the stuff you've decided is morally wrong, though not illegal, is excised. They just hire some poor schmuck on Fiverr to write a script that scrapes through and purges stuff that meets some arbitrary criteria. Or they open the database and drop a table.
lj and ff.n are not the noble warriors you want to be defending while trying to find a loose brick in the foundation of AO3.

you know sometimes instead of studying for an important test you go on a quest trying to recover your old wattpad account, but you find out that they wont let you unless you reset your password which you need access to the email linked to the account but oh would you look a that you have a book where you have written down every.single.password and log in information from the past 9 years + EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE EMAIL ACCOUNT you have the email account written there and you have this lovely line under it with "password: .............." written down and nothing next to it so you try to use forgot password on gmail but would you look a that you didnt have this account connected to any other account or phone number ever so that wont work so you try to look into wattpads account recovery service and oh wow they have a thing for when you lost access to your email specifically day saved except not because they ask you bunch of security questions which u dont.have.answers.to because its been like seven years since you last logged into that account so they tell you you cant recover it, so youre like this is fine ill just use interenet archive and the wayback machine to go back to when the stories were up and ill use my old mutuals username to find myself, flawless, and then you promptly find out wattpad has been removed from the wayback machine, but then you remembered you have an old tablet where u were always logged into not only your wattpad account but also your email account! huzzah! except when you try to turn it on it doesnt, no worries just charge it, it turns on and starts the loading screen.... and nothing, you try for an hour but you just cant.turn.it.on so now youre sitting here broken tablet in hand its way past your bedtime you still havent looked through your notes for the test and you think, maybe ill never get to read my shitty fiction writing from when i was 13 ever again.
And the worst part is you dont even remember whether you didnt just delete the stories when you were 14 anyway

(1/2)Hi Hilary! This is uglybusiness (Zugma) - we talked a few times, you might remember me. You're always so sympathetic and willing to answer the most random questions people send you, hope you don't mind another one. Tumblr deleted my blog for some reason a few weeks ago, and all my attempts to reach the support team seem to be going into the void. I recall that you had similar trouble a couple years back and managed to restore your account in the end. Could you please share how you did that?
(2/2)Any tips would be great: I'm starting to despair, to be honest. Sorry for bothering you - and thanks in advance! ~Zugma
OH NO. This has happened to me not once... not twice... but THREE TIMES, and it is the absolute worst. The first time it happened, it likewise took me a month to get it back and I almost gave up hope. My one and only piece of advice in the crapshoot of dealing with Tumblr support is as follows, and that is: make a new account. If you try to send support requests without an account, they do indeed seem to just disappear into the void and don't even prompt automated messages saying that they got your ticket.
This is pretty much the only thing that worked for me (and has worked for a few other friends who also randomly got their blog deleted for no reason). Make a new Tumblr account, then send a support ticket referencing your URL and email address for your deleted blog. These ones at least seem to get through, and should result in some kind of ZenDesk automated response saying that Tumblr got it. This at least causes a real person to take a look at it, and after a month of trying and getting nothing when I didn't have an account at all, I set up a backup account and got a response within a few days.
Now, this isn't guaranteed, and I know some people who lost their blogs in the Great Purge of 2019 and didn't ever get them back, but for the most part, while it is stressful and frustrating and yet again makes you wonder what cocaine bears are running this website, most....? people subject to random deletion have managed to recover theirs, with effort. So yes, make a new Tumblr account pronto, send them that ticket with the url and email address used for your last blog, explain that it was deleted for no reason, and keep sending until you at least get some kind of acknowledgement. Then cross your fingers.

In the second in a series of personal perspectives, the John Snow Project talks to [a successful, active early-thirties professional] based in California, who developed Long COVID after his third SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Perspective: I Did Everything Right and Things Still Went Wrong - John Snow Project
NOTE: “did everything right” in this headline is not in terms of what COVID-informed people know and do, but rather the average person who follows CDC & govt. guidelines: the “vax and relax” approach.
Excerpts:
Salvatore was Covid cautious and followed public health advice from the outset, including with regard to the vaccines.
“I completed my first vaccine series in May 2021 with two doses of Pfizer. Believing I was protected, I lived normally and was infected in September 2021. I had a known exposure and lost my sense of smell and taste. I was sick for about a day and went to bed early that night, but I didn’t even take time off work. I went back to my remote duties the next day and felt fine after a few days. I had my third Pfizer vaccine in March 2022, and was infected for a second time in September 2022 and for a third time in January 2023.”
Salvatore wasn’t initially concerned about his subsequent infections.
“I tested positive on a Cue at-home test for the second and third infections. Both infections were even milder than the first, maybe because I took Paxlovid. Within a week of the second infection, I developed heart palpitations, which were not initially linked to Long COVID. After the third infection, I began to develop many more Long COVID symptoms, and was diagnosed with the condition.”
Looking back, Salvatore had experienced persistent symptoms since his first infection, and developed new ones with each subsequent infection.
“I was aware of Long COVID since I had persistent loss of taste and smell going back to my first infection, but I never really considered it to be Long COVID, as it did not have a major effect on my life. The third infection is really what tipped me into Long COVID. Since then, I've had intermittent chest pain, heart palpitations, various neurological issues (face numbness, buzzing in the feet), joint pain, anxiety, issues with my vision, fatigue, complete alcohol and caffeine intolerance. I alternate between good weeks and bad weeks, with the bad weeks slowly becoming less severe. Some symptoms have totally resolved, while new ones occasionally emerge (the neurological symptoms did not arise until 3-4 months after my third infection). Although I have been able to keep my job and parent my daughter, this year has been one of the worst of my life. Where previously I was having fun on the weekends, for the last 8 months, I have basically spent my weekends laying on the couch and trying to recover. This year, I had two vacations planned, but cancelled them both because of how bad I've felt. My wife and I have delayed having another child because of my health. Even if I do recover fully, I have read so many stories of people relapsing back into Long COVID, that I am afraid I will never be fully healthy. For that reason, we may not have any more children because of Long COVID.”
Salvatore emailed Dr Bob Wachter, after the noted physician said booster vaccinations or infections will protect people from Long COVID. Dr Wachter posted on Twitter that boosters or infections “will protect you from severe infection & Long Covid – I give them 1 year of credit in this regard.”
Salvatore asked Dr Wachter to delete his erroneous tweet, saying, “Just reading it has caused me immense anguish knowing that someone might believe you and wind up in a similar situation [to me]. I hope you can appreciate how someone could reasonably hold you responsible for their Long COVID in the future.”
We asked Salvatore how the medical profession has responded to his Long COVID.
“Most doctors have believed me, but none have offered any substantive treatments. For example, my cardiologist at UCSF ended our last appointment by encouraging me to take CBD oil, telling me he hoped I would get better. The CBD oil seems to help a little bit, but I haven't gotten better despite his hopes. An ER doctor I saw after my face went numb was kind and caring, but described me and people like me as a "science experiment" that no one really knows how to help. Primary Care Providers have been hit or miss. Once I brought in a document with my list of symptoms to a new Primary Care Provider. He ignored it, then suggested the only explanation was that I was suffering from HIV. I have no risk factors for HIV. Once when I was feeling really bad, I visited urgent care. When I told the doctor that I had caught Covid three times, he implied that it was my fault, and told me not to catch Covid again, as if I hadn’t tried, or could somehow wave a magic wand to prevent it in the future.”
[ Comment: The PCP’s explanation is unsurprising. It’s been said repeatedly that Long COVID is similar to HIV and AIDS — the latter can also start as a “mild” or asymptomatic HIV infection and becomes much worse later on. LC affects the body / immune system and presents in some similar ways.
“If they are not treated, almost all people infected with HIV will develop AIDS (Stage 3). Some people develop AIDS within a few years of infection. Others remain completely healthy after 10 or even 20 years (called long-term nonprogressors).“ - Penn Medicine ]
CONTD.
Salvatore isn’t alone in his experiences of Long COVID but wishes more people would pay attention to the risks.
“My friends and family have been broadly supportive. It might be because I have several family members and friends who also have Long COVID, or who had it in the past and recovered. I don't think my experience has actually influenced anyone else's behavior, except my wife, who masks diligently because of me. When I talk about Long COVID, people who were already behaving in a COVID-cautious manner see it as validating, while those who weren't react with a sort of hopeless indifference. Long COVID isn’t rare. It affects many people who catch Covid even if they caught Covid before. Even if they are young and healthy. Even if they are vaccinated or not vaccinated.”
Salvatore has a message for people who don’t think about the risks of Long COVID.
“You probably won't develop Long COVID after your Covid infection, but there's a good chance that you might. The only way to avoid Long COVID is to avoid catching Covid. The vaccines and Paxlovid seem to help but aren't a panacea. If you get Long COVID, it will probably be somewhat mild, but it also could be so severe that it will derail your life entirely. Doctors will not be able to help you -- there are no cures or even approved treatments.”
Salvatore is concerned about the failure of governments to respond to the danger of Long COVID.
“Government officials that downplay or ignore the risk of Long COVID are directly responsible for the suffering of millions of people. Even if there's nothing to be done about it, at least telling people the truth would give them a chance to make a decision about the amount of risk they're willing to take. Be honest with the public about Long COVID: stop downplaying it.”
He is also concerned about the systemic risk Long COVID poses to social and economic wellbeing.
“Long COVID is the biggest, most mispriced risk facing the United States. Based on the latest studies, it's entirely possible that as many as one-third of Americans could be struggling with Long COVID in just a few years. Many of these people may be too sick to work, which poses a huge risk for the economy, and may already be manifesting in the form of the persistent labor shortage. As the number of people with Long COVID grows, health care and disability systems will come under even more strain. Long COVID should be treated as seriously as the initial COVID outbreak.”

okay lol, I was planning to postpone the new blog until after I'd moved, but I guess word spreads fast.
So hiii it is Clara, my old blog got isekai'd for reasons that still aren't completely clear to me. I still have a bunch of emails and discord messages (I actually lost access to my password, but didn't bother too much to recover it having taken an opportunity to fall off the face of the earth) that I'll get to eventually, again, probably after moving out — in the meantime I apologise if any of it inevitably came off as ghosting, but I really had to take a break from online, it wasn't personal. That being said, I read most of what was sent shortly after I got deleted, and really appreciated the words of encouragement <3

/708489285561696256 anon people are allowed to grow and change, if someone made an alt account six years ago when they were younger and didn't understand the ramifications of cheating and making an alt account, and they regret it now that they're older, they're allowed to be a little nervous about what their past self did and about it coming back and hurting them now that they've grown, this is a game for 13 year olds, 13 year olds are stupid and irresponsible, and they will grow and mature and realize they fucked up, and it's not like FR lets them delete their alts, I think there's nuance in it all, and if they went and made a new account so they can keep playing on a fresh slate.... That's still being a multi. FR is an old enough game that people have been playing since they were dumb kids. And what if, in a similar vain, they haven't touched the game since they were kids, they've lost the email and password and everything. By your logic, they wouldn't be able to make a new account, and they wouldn't be able to recover their account because they've lost everything associated with it. Would they just not be able to return to a game they loved as a kid?
People shouldn't be punished for having an old inactive alt. There's multiple reasons that someone might have an old abandoned alt.

hi, im super curious about how you lost your things on drive, was it an accident? bc it's been at the back of my mind since you posted and now it's a new fear of mind. im super glad you got them back!
it was a little bit my fault haha. i found out google is feeding people's work to train AI so i wanted to transfer all my writing to my laptop. i archived it all with google takeout (basically lets you put everything in one big zip file you can download) and deleted everything from google drive. then i had to go out for the night and didn't immediately download the archive to my laptop. object impermanence is so real and i forgot all about it until it was too late because the link to download the archive had expired and all my stuff had been in the trash bin for too long. i had no idea google automatically cleans out trash after 30 days now. so that's how i thought it was all Gone gone. but you can still recover things if they haven't been permanently deleted for over 25 days. my files had only been cleared out from the trash for like a week so i emailed support and they were able to restore everything. now i've saved my novel docs to my laptop so they're in two locations until i get a new flash drive and can save them there as well before clearing them from google

WAIT WHAT HAPPENED???
OH DOG LET ME TELL YOU
So I had like 4 side blogs that I wasn’t using, right? A horny one, a backup one, one for dogs and one for specifically Sebastian. But I wanted to delete the back up one but I deletwd it from the settings side of things thinking if I was in the editing portion of that specific blog, it would just delete that one. But instead it deleted my MAIN account including everything else I had 🫠 SO I had to rebuild my whole blog from the bottom up, lost 5,000 words worth of stories (ones I didn’t save), sent an email only to get told they couldn’t recover it:( BUT IM BACK BABEEEEYYYYY and I’m here to stay:)
Having the digital arts blog may be a bit much for me now, so I’m deciding on just being a writing blogger for now:)

iPhone Data Recovery: How to Retrieve Lost Data from Your Device
Tumblr media
Losing data on your iPhone can be a frustrating experience, whether it’s photos, contacts, messages, or important documents. Accidental deletions, software glitches, or hardware failures can all result in lost data. Fortunately, iPhone data recovery services, such as those provided by Apple Expert, offer a solution to recover your valuable information.
Common Causes of Data Loss
Accidental Deletion: This is perhaps the most common cause of lost data. Users often mistakenly delete files, messages, or photos that they later realize were important.
Software Update Issues: Occasionally, updating to a new iOS version can cause unexpected data loss, particularly if the backup process was incomplete.
Physical Damage: Water damage, drops, and other forms of physical harm can make it difficult to access or recover data.
Forgotten Passcodes: If you're locked out of your device due to a forgotten passcode, regaining access to your data can require specialized recovery tools.
Jailbreaking: While jailbreaking an iPhone offers more customization options, it also opens the door to increased risks of data loss or corruption.
Steps to Take After Data Loss
Stop Using the Device: If you suspect data loss, it’s essential to stop using your iPhone immediately. Continued use may overwrite the deleted data, making it more difficult to recover.
Check Your Backup: Before considering professional recovery services, check whether you have recent backups in iCloud or iTunes. If a backup is available, restoring your iPhone to a previous state may solve the problem.
Seek Professional Help: If backups aren’t available or they don’t contain the lost files, professional iPhone data recovery services can offer advanced tools to retrieve your information.
iPhone Data Recovery Methods
Using iCloud Backup: If your iPhone was backed up to iCloud before the data loss, you might be able to recover your data by restoring from the backup.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
After erasing the content, follow the setup process and choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
Using iTunes Backup: If you have synced your iPhone with iTunes, you can restore your lost data using this method.
Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes.
Select your device and choose Restore Backup.
Select the most recent backup and click Restore.
Third-Party Software: Several third-party applications are available to help recover lost iPhone data without a backup. These tools connect to your device, scan it for recoverable files, and allow you to retrieve what was lost.
Professional Data Recovery Services: If you can’t recover the data yourself or the issue is due to physical damage, professional recovery services like Apple Expert use specialized tools to recover data. Their experts can retrieve data from damaged devices or corrupted files that may be beyond the scope of standard recovery tools.
What Data Can Be Recovered?
Professional iPhone data recovery services can often retrieve a wide variety of lost data, including:
Photos and Videos: Personal memories, family pictures, and recorded videos can all be restored.
Contacts: Lost phone numbers and email addresses can be recovered.
Messages: Whether it's iMessages, SMS, or MMS, your lost conversations may be restored.
Documents: Important work files, PDFs, and other documents stored on your iPhone can be retrieved.
App Data: Information from apps, such as notes, calendars, and browsing history, can also be recovered in some cases.
How Long Does iPhone Data Recovery Take?
The time required for iPhone data recovery depends on the extent of the damage and the amount of data that needs to be recovered. In most cases, professional recovery can take anywhere from a few hours to several days. The complexity of the issue, such as physical damage or encrypted data, can also influence the duration of the recovery process.
Preventing Future Data Loss
To avoid the inconvenience of data loss in the future, consider the following precautions:
Regular Backups: Regularly backing up your iPhone to iCloud or iTunes ensures that even if data loss occurs, you can easily restore your device to a previous state.
Enable iCloud Sync: By enabling iCloud sync for essential apps such as Photos, Contacts, and Notes, your data is constantly updated and saved in the cloud.
Use a Passcode and Face ID: Adding a passcode and enabling Face ID can help secure your phone from unauthorized access.
Avoid Jailbreaking: While it may seem appealing to jailbreak your device, it increases the risk of data corruption and loss.
Why Choose Professional Data Recovery?
Choosing a professional iPhone data recovery service like Apple Expert comes with several advantages:
Expertise: Professional technicians are trained to handle complex data recovery processes and can retrieve data even from physically damaged devices.
Advanced Tools: They use advanced data recovery software and hardware tools that are not available to the general public.
Safe Process: Professionals ensure that your iPhone’s hardware and software are not further damaged during the recovery process.
Losing important data on your iPhone doesn’t have to be a permanent problem. By taking the right steps and seeking professional help, you can recover photos, messages, and other crucial data. Services like Apple Expert offer reliable and secure iPhone data recovery solutions, helping you retrieve your lost files efficiently.

How to Regain Control of Your Crypto Assets: A Guide to Recovering Lost Wallets and Reporting Scams
Cryptocurrency offers exciting opportunities, but it also comes with risks. Many people face the frustration of losing access to their wallets or falling victim to reclaim stolen crypto scams. Understanding how to recover lost bitcoin wallets, report broker scams, reclaim stolen crypto, and seek refunds can help restore your peace of mind.
Understanding Bitcoin Wallet Losses
Losing access to a bitcoin wallet can happen for several reasons:
Tumblr media
Forgetting passwords
Losing hardware wallets
Accidental deletions
Each scenario can be distressing. However, there are steps you can take to recover your assets.
Tips for Recovering a Lost Bitcoin Wallet
Use Seed Phrases: Most wallets provide a seed phrase when you create them. This phrase can restore your wallet on a compatible platform. If you have it written down, use it.
Check Backup Locations: If you created backups, check all possible locations—cloud storage, USB drives, or even physical copies.
Seek Professional Help: If recovery seems impossible, consider contacting a recovery expert. They can assist you in navigating complex recovery processes.

Lack of regulatory oversight
Pressure to invest quickly
If you suspect you’ve been scammed, act fast.
How to Report a Scam Broker
Gather Evidence: Collect all relevant communication and transaction details. Screenshots and emails can serve as proof.
Report to Regulatory Bodies: In the U.S., report scams to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
Contact Local Authorities: File a report with your local law enforcement. They may not recover your funds but can help track scammers.
Notify Your Bank: If you used your bank account, inform them about the scam. They may be able to assist in freezing transactions.
Reclaiming Stolen Cryptocurrency
If someone has stolen your crypto, reclaiming it can be challenging but not impossible. Here’s how to start.
Steps to Reclaim Stolen Crypto
Identify the Theft: Ensure that the transaction was unauthorized. Review your wallet history carefully.
Document Everything: Keep records of all transactions and communications related to the theft.
Contact the Exchange: If the theft occurred through an exchange, contact them immediately. Provide details about the transaction.
Report to Authorities: File a report with local law enforcement. Also, consider notifying the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3).
Engage with Recovery Services: Some firms specialize in cryptocurrency recovery. They can track stolen funds and help in the recovery process.
Seeking a Refund After a Scam
If you’ve lost money due to a scam, it’s natural to want to get your money back. Here are steps to help you in that pursuit.
Steps to Seek a Refund
Document the Scam: Similar to reporting scams, gather all related evidence. This includes transaction IDs, dates, and amounts.
Contact Your Bank or Credit Card Company: If you made a payment with a credit card or bank transfer, contact your provider. They may offer chargeback options.
File Complaints: In addition to regulatory bodies, consider filing complaints with consumer protection agencies like the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
Consult Legal Professionals: If the amount is significant, consulting with a legal expert can provide guidance on possible actions.
Staying Safe in the Crypto Space
Prevention is always better than recovery. Here are some practices to enhance your security.
Security Best Practices
Use Strong Passwords: Combine letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid common phrases.
Enable Two-Factor Authentication: This adds an extra layer of protection.
