ok….. hear me out…… Kiss Kiss Bang Bang ‼️

Two of my favourite actors star in it and it’s just…. Man I haven’t laughed that hard for a movie in AGES.

It’s an insane movie but hilarious—lemme try to give a synopsis…

so you have this guy. this dumbass mf who loves his nephew I believe and is in the process of robbing a toy shop around Christmas time to get him a gift. Mans is ON THE PHONE with the kid while doing so lmao. Lockhart is trying to pull this off with a bud. Then boom shenanigans happen and he stumbles into an audition for a role. my man Harry Lockhart, freshly traumatized, gives the performance of his life and gets into the acting scene. Stuff happens, and our guy gets implicated in a crime—one he’s innocent in for once lol.

He basically gets a new buddy who is technically his agent if I remember right?? Or a secret cop??? Essentially they are now partners and need to solve the murder mystery. I need to rewatch this soon lmao I need a laugh. But regardless—their dynamic is so fun.

Might be one of my fave movies—honestly don’t know how or why I clicked with it so well—it is so unlike anything I’ve watched before.

As a last note, there are a fair amount of warnings that deserve to go with this film—I’m not gonna list them all, but just check through it if you’re interested :)) definitely not for kids lmao

How I Became a Superhero - this is a super fun and creative little movie about how bonkers it would be if superpowers were real, if you're burned out on superheroes at all (understandable!) this might be refreshing

AKA - seemingly standard gritty action movie but wait! the main action guy has unexpected heartwarming dad vibes with the mafia boss's adorable young son!

The Takedown - action comedy starring the guy from Lupin

Lupin - you're probably already aware of this one, season 3 just dropped, super charming mystery thriller heist antics thing, the main character has a guest appearance in one of my fics

Jusqu'ici tout va bien | Thicker than Water - crime thriller with just a super compelling main character, she's a protective older sister who ends up an accidental druglord maybe? you'll recognize her boyfriend from Disorder

Into the Night - environmental disaster survivors thriller, political in ways that are sometimes clunky and sometimes really interesting, stressful to watch at times but highly recommend if you like that sort of thing

Le Bazar de la Charité | The Bonfire of Destiny and Les combattantes | Women at War - soapy period dramas

plus a bonus rec that's not in French but it's my very favorite of my non-English watching: Onisciente. Brazilian scifi mystery that's sort of a dystopia but remarkably upbeat? hard to describe but I love the main character so much, I feel like she and Nile would dig each other

also also! I haven't seen this one yet, just discovered it when I was looking up titles for these recs: Oxygen, a scifi thriller starring Booker's wife's namesake Mélanie Laurent

LUPIN YEAH I love it haha I'm about to start the last episode of part 3 rn! Jusqu'ice tout va bien sounds interesting too (reminds me of La Haine which I doubt is a coincidence lol) Into The Night I actually started and abandoned :/ just didn't click at the time, can't say why. I'll keep Le Bazard and Les Combattantes in mind but I'm not super into soapy and period and drama together haha

I haven't heard of Onisciente but I WILL keep it in mind, it sounds great, and Oxygen sounds maddening lol

Nueve Reinas: A movie about an amateur conman and the mentor who decides to train him for a big strike. Set in the late 90s Argentina. It either won an Oscar or was nominated if you care about that sort of thing

Los Simuladores: TV series, also heist/conmen vibes, I've yelled about it a lot

Relatos Salvajes | Wild Tales: Five stories of violence set in different parts of Argentina, a dark comedy is how I'd best describe it

El Reino: Series, 2 seasons so far, A crime drama about an Evangelist presidential candidate with a murky background. Second season is more of a political drama but I haven't finished it yet!

Argentina, 1985: A drama following the attorney general who carried about the trials against the top leaders of the last dictatorship. Based on true events, not a lot of fun but in my opinion very well done. Also Oscar nominated. It's on Amazon Prime. In the same vein but fictional: La Historia Oficial

Un Cuento Perfecto: Spanish series, pure romcom very cute!

El Robo del Siglo: Heist movie based on a true story of a crew that robbed a bank. More of a comedy

Muerte en Buenos Aires | Death in Buenos Aires: crime-ish movie with very big homoerotic vibes, I really enjoyed it. Also, Chino Darín POR FAVOR QUE HERMOSO QUE ES

El Secreto De Sus Ojos | The Secret in Their Eyes: NOT the usamerican version with Jessica Chastain (why????), the argentinian one, deals with rape and murder so you gotta be ready for that

Just in general Almodóvar is a great filmaker though he likes a lot of shadier themes, his movies feature cheating, murder, incest, rape and etc. Guillermo del Toro's Laberinto del Fauno is vvv good if you want some fantasy! Sorry I went very argentinian on this but it's what I've seen the most haha and not a lot of action because we ain't got the budget akhdfñg

dm: mana jumping out of the pot onto Atem, tbh it was really cute and a great way to introduce Mana’s character since it shows how young and playful she is, and by the end of that arc Mana has become much more mature and hardened by the war (which is also pretty sad)

zexal: Yuuma and Shingetsu’s tag duel is still hilarious to watch because Vector goes out of his way over and over again to screw up Yuuma and the comedic effect is there (:

arc v: Sora vs. Shun was next-level edgy and such an exhilarating duel!

Wanda Maximoff (MCU/Comics) - She has such an interesting storyline, and a rich backstory, what could be a great source for a standalone movie etc. i just love her so much, she had to face so many personal tragedies, traumas, so much pain, and despite all, still stayed powerful and strong, managed to keep herself together, and honestly she’s just an amazing character

Eva Kviig Mohn (Skam) - Okay this one won’t really be a big surprise, but i actually love Eva because 1. We share the same name 2. Our personalities are basically the same 3. Even one of our best friends’ name is Noora/and they have the same personality - so these are some scary similarities. Also honestly many of the things Eva had to face, happened to me too, except having a boyfriend crisis lol. I understand her on a whole different level, probably because i feel like we are almost like twins, and that’s why i love her so much.

Rapunzel, Merida (Tangled, Brave/Disney) - Okay so i can’t really give a specific reason to why, but these two characters have a special place in my heart, and these are probably the both ultimate fave disney movies’ characters. Tangled was my fave from the moment it was released and then i grew to love Brave later, but they both made me happy in a way i can’t really explain (especially Brave). Each of them was basically more than just a princess needed to be saved, and get a love storyline blah blah *even though tangled is still kinda like that, but Rapunzel’s character goes way beyond that to me*Idk man i just love them so much

okay i just have this....need, for an MCU sitcom or comedy movie or whatever and there are certain headcanons i have, and basically a whole fanon universe in my head, how things go and stuff, and i mean saving the world is an important and serious thing, but the mcu is way too depressing lately and i just wanna see the domestic side of these characters. What are your top 5 Mila Kunis movies and why?

1. Black Swan – Well, I’m a ballerina myself and this movie speaks to me in many levels, even with its creepy and sexualized parts. Mila’s character is my favorite and it would had been even if it wasn’t her. Lily is incredible, she is the kind of ballerina we all want to be: her imperfection makes her perfect, and she has a natural gift of talent and beauty. I really like this movie.

2. Jupiter Ascending – I LOVE THIS MOVIE and not in an ironic way. No, I really enjoy the movie for what it is: a originl piece of awesome self incert fantasy. It’s a wonderful way to slap the patriarchy and Jupiter Jones is a queen in all her glory. Besides, the visuals of this movie are breathetaking!

3. The Book of Eli – This movie is a hiden gem. The characters, the world bulding and the story are fresh and treated with respect a subject that could had gone very wrong. Solara, Mila’s character, is a genuine strong female character in my opinion. She struggles with the world she is living in but doesn’t stay put to watch it burn. She grows up during the film and her relationship with the protaginist is incredible, not to mention that I love that there is no romance, they have a strong relationship even without that.

4. Friends with Benefits – My favorite comedy with her. The chemistry between her and Justin is incredible, they make a good couple to watch on screen and before they become one, their friendship is truly something awesome to see. This movie always makes me feel better when I’m down, and I love seeing Jamie. Mila does looks wonderful in this movie.

5. Forgetting Sarah Marshall – This was the first Mila movie I ever saw. I went to the cinema with my brother and my best friend to watch it, and we enjoyed the hell out of it. Even now that I’m older and know a little bit more about movies, I still love this movie. It was a great experience to watch and I love the comedy of it, I really enjoy this movie!

13: What is your favourite ice cream flavour? strawberry or coffee, really just depends on the brand and what i’m craving at the time. new york style vanilla is soooo good too tho.

14: What is the first thing you notice about people? usually, it’s what they’re passionate about. i notice physical stuff too but i really don’t pay that much attention until they start talking about what they love. or like.. i look at their phone case or stickers or buttons or decals on their bags/computer/car and if i ask about it and their face lights up-- that’s the kind of people i love. passionate people are the best kind of people

15: Red or pink? red, though i like more of a maroon-y red than true red

21: Favourite smell? the smell of freshly cut grass in the spring, rain, vanilla flavored coffee (i could literally shove my face in my starbucks cup rn and drown in it, it smells so good), beef stew when it’s cooking all day in the crock pot.

25: Eye colour? hazel, it’s like a swirl of brown, yellow/gold, and dark green

27: Favourite food to eat? potatoes. any kind, fried, baked, diced, whole, chunks, fries, i love potatoes.

28: Scary movies or comedy? comedy, though the comedy that Hollywood has put out lately hasn’t been very good tbh (though tbh neither has the scary movie section)

29: Last movie you watched? Suicide Squad is the last thing i saw in theaters, though I’ve watched a bunch of 30 for 30 docs in the last couple of weeks, but i’m not sure i should classify that as movies..

30: What colour of shirt are you wearing? grey (with the old school jurassic park logo on it :D)

31: Summer or winter? winter, cos at least i can layer clothing. anything above 75 and i feel like i’m suffocating

33: What book are you currently reading? slowly making my way through Chernow’s Hamilton again and Miné Okubo’s Citizen 13660 which is a brilliant mixture of story and drawings that illustrate her time in a Japanese internment camp in the US during WWII.

34: Who do you miss right now? my puppy :( i could use a cuddle from him

37: What is the best sound? silence, tbh, is my favorite thing unless i’m playing music. god i love when it’s quiet..

39: What is the furthest you have ever travelled? I’ve only ever travelled in the US, furthest I’ve gone is Disneyland when I was like 6 or 7. i don’t remember it tho lol

40: Do you have a special talent? errr... i don’t think so??? i don’t think i’d qualify photoshop as a special talent :\

41: Where were you born? Minnesota, though many people in my family love to point out that I probably would have been born in Wisconsin (ugghhhh) had I not arrived a week and a half early.
