Silent Confessions

• Yō Uei A confident, cocky individual with a history as a police officer before the petrification. His usual bravado falters when trying to impress the reader, revealing a softer, more vulnerable side beneath his swagger. --- Yō Uei wasn’t the type to feel nervous. Cocky, yes. Confident, absolutely. Nervous? Never. But tonight, sitting by the fire, watching you focus intently on weaving a basket, his usual bravado faltered. Something about you always had that effect on him. Maybe it was the quiet way you carried yourself, or the soft, mysterious aura that surrounded you. Either way, he couldn’t stop himself from wanting your attention.

He cleared his throat, his usual swagger returning as he leaned forward. "Hey, uh... you got a second? Did I ever tell you I used to be a police officer?"

You glanced up at him, a flicker of surprise in your eyes. He mistook it for intrigue, his chest puffing up as he leaned in closer. "Yeah, back in the modern world, I was kind of a big deal. Catching criminals, saving lives—dangerous stuff." He gave a laugh, expecting you to join in.

Instead, you simply tilted your head, offered a small smile, and returned to your weaving.

Undeterred, Yō pressed on. "One time, there was this hostage situation. A guy with a knife—real dangerous. But me? I handled it, no sweat. Talked him down, saved the hostages. The chief even said I had nerves of steel." He leaned back, flashing a grin.

But you didn’t react.

The grin wavered. He frowned, scratching the back of his head as he tried to think of another story. "You know, there was another time—bank robbery this time. Four guys, armed to the teeth. But me? Took ‘em all down. Not to brag, but they called me the ‘hero of the day.’"

Still nothing.

Yō’s shoulders slumped. His usual charm seemed to bounce right off you, like words thrown into the wind. For someone used to commanding attention, the lack of reaction stung.

"Guess you’re not into that kind of stuff, huh?" he muttered, his voice quieter now. He stood up, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Never mind. Forget I said anything."

You watched him walk away, your heart aching. You had seen the fire in his eyes, the pride in his posture as he spoke. You knew he was trying to impress you, trying to connect with you in his own way. But the truth was, you couldn’t hear him. The world had been silent for you long before the petrification, and even now, in this new Stone World, it remained that way.

Still, you didn’t want him to think you didn’t care.

Yō lay on his side near the campfire, his back to the group. His blanket was pulled up to his chin, his mind replaying the earlier conversation—or lack of one.

"Guess I’m not as charming as I thought," he muttered to himself, the words bitter on his tongue.

The soft crunch of footsteps in the dirt broke through his thoughts. He frowned, glancing over his shoulder. You stood there, hesitating.

He sat up slightly, blinking at you. "Hey, uh... something wrong?"

You didn’t respond, but you knelt beside him, your movements deliberate. Before he could ask again, you gently tugged at his blanket, silently requesting space.

"Wait, what’re you—?" His words caught in his throat as you slid under the blanket beside him. Your arms wrapped around his, and you rested your head lightly on his shoulder.

Yō froze, his heart hammering in his chest. "W-what are you doing?"

You looked up at him, your gaze soft but determined. You didn’t need words to convey what you felt. Your presence, your closeness—it said everything.

It took him a moment, but he finally relaxed, letting his head rest against yours. The silence stretched between you, but for once, it didn’t feel empty.

"You know," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper, "you’re... kind of hard to figure out." He chuckled, the sound low and warm. "But... I think I get it now."

You smiled against his shoulder, your grip on his arm tightening slightly.

"Guess I’ll just have to show you how cool I am instead of talking about it, huh?" he murmured, his lips curving into a grin.

He felt you nod, your cheek brushing against his arm. For the first time in a long time, Yō Uei was content to let his actions speak louder than words. The warmth of your presence was all the reassurance he needed. ---

I think I phrase it weird. I meant that other characters react to reader having a crush on ukyo in a similar format like the xeno one, I still love it though! My bad g I really should've wait to ask after my nap lol

Okay, so I decided to leave the confession part out of this one since I covered that in the first post. Sorry I misinterpretted your ask! I can’t entirely blame you, I sometimes take an ask too literally or somehow COMPLETELY skip over a chunk or crucial word. But! I hope these thoughts will make up for it! I didn’t do the same characters, bc I like the variety and randomness of it all, plus it gives me an excuse to practice more dr. stone characters, like the painfully awkward Tsukasa! Yippee! I hope you enjoy as a result!

TSUKASA SHISHIO

You were the color of a tomato as you stood by the towering MMA fighter who had simply meandered up to you for a ‘casual chat’. your eyes fixed on the cracked, rocky ground in hopes that it would open up and swallow you so that you could escape the question that hung in the air at the treeline you patrolled. The tense silence only broken when Tsukasa hummed “I...suppose that wasn’t a good conversation starter.” As if he’d simply chosen the wrong dialogue option in a game. “Uh, no i-it was a fine conversation starter, I suppose.” You assured in an attempt to not upset your leader. “It was just a bit jarring to know that you’re aware of my crush…” "Well, I thought everyone knew? Minami spoke of it like it was common knowledge, or clear to see.” He pointed out, and all you could think was I’m going to kill that damned reporter. Before the brunette continued. “I only asked because if you do have feelings for him, I...suppose you two could be paired together on hunting trips more. You do seem to work rather well together, and he seems to like you more than other members of the kingdom for the task.”

You didn’t know what to do about his words, though. It felt so alien to hear the prim, professionally distant man offer to essentially play your wingman with the asocial archer, you didn’t know what to do beyond stare up at his warm eyes for a moment. Before managing a shakey, “O-oh that wouldn’t be necessary, I wouldn’t want to wear out my welcome with him. Th-thank you, though.” “Are you sure? I read somewhere that time together is a good way to form a romantic relationship, right? And if the kingdom is to grow, I think you and Saioniji would make a good start to the next generation of strength. With how valuable his hearing is.” He pointed out, but it didn’t take the violent shade of red that you turned for him to grimace. “That...came out horribly…”

I’m going to die of embarrassment…

YO UEI “Ukyo? The archer?” The ex-cop said in utter confusion as you hid your face in your hands to cover up how angry you were at the copper-haired buffoon’s eavesdropping. “I was talking to Nikki, Yo. Why were you spying?!” But he waved your question off, “That’s not really that important. I was walking by, the caves echo. The bigger question is why do you like Ukyo of all people? He’s super useful, but he’s pathetic in terms of strength. Someone like you deserves a strong, handsome beast of a man, like me! Not a scaredy cat archer.” “He’s not a scaredy cat, he’s sweet, and he’s prettier than you’ll ever be. You look like the Cynthia doll from rugrats.” You spat back at the cop, and while he was stunned at the insult, you stormed off with a huff.

MINAMI HOKUTOZAI

“Ooooo! You and Ukyo would be so cute together! I did a report on him once, and he was single too, so this is great!” Your best friend about squealed with stars in her eyes after you’d finally coughed up the name of your crush. “Oh, this is going to be such a relief from all the toil and misery! Thank god you didn’t develop feelings for someone as scary as Hyoga, or one of his underlings.” And you laughed at her words while you let her crush you in a bear hug.

Admittedly, a part of you had feared what the admission might stir up in your best friend. After all, the blonde was a reporter by trade, so it was sort of her job to gossip and spread news. But, as you two sat together with new clothes half made in your lap, you were actually a bit relieved to have finally told someone. “I’m glad you approve so much, Mimi. Just, uh, try not to spread it around? I don’t really want Ukyo to overhear, y’know?” You chuckled, and she let you go to salute you with a bright smile on her lips, “Not to worry! Your secret is safe with me...for now!”

At least she was honest.

NIKKI HANADA

Nikki just about kicked her feet by the dinner fire you shared with her once you told her about your crush. Her face as pink as yours, her eyes full of wonder. “Oh that’s so romantic! He seems like such a shy guy, I’m sure your guys’ whole...thing, would be adorable!” She said, the contrast of such a powerfully muscled woman squealing like a little girl at the shojo-ness of you and Ukyo Saioniji together fun to see out of your best friend. “Yeah, I’m sure it would be, if I could just admit it to him…” You chuckled, and she smiled back, “Don’t you worry, I’m sure you’ll get the courage soon!” She assured.

After that, the two of you continued to discuss what exactly drew you to the archer. From his gorgeous teal eyes, his refreshingly non-violent tendencies, and his quiet personality, Nikki just about pried every detail out of you until your dinner’s bones were picked clean and the campfire burned into embers. And, it was nice to feel like some normal girls again, even if it was just for a while.

TAIJU OKI

Taiju seemed to space out when you confessed you had a small crush on Ukyo Saioniji. It was almost as if he was thrown back into his own war flashbacks of a love he held. When he came back, he was rather serious. “You’ve gotta tell him. Soon. The last thing you wanna do is wait and risk losing him!” He told you, the intensity of it enough to make your cheeks burn bright red as he stared into you with soft brown eyes that had hardened as much as they could. “I-I’ll try,” You assured despite the heat, but Taiju put a strong hand on your shoulder and looked deeper into your eyes. “I’m serious. If we go to war with the- the village, you might lose him. Don’t live with the regret of never telling him like I almost did.”

With that, the golden retriever of a man gave your shoulder a gentle squeeze and turned to go about his work, all while you were left stunned and a little shaken at how serious he had become. It was almost scary to see from someone usually so loud and happy, but you had to push that aside in favor of checking the traps the kingdom of might had set up.
