#Rayman Light Dark and Magic

Inspired by @vorktyunal, I tried drawing my version of Rayman falling in the void!

I just realised something about Laserhawk Rayman which I've been saying about Rayman for DECADES.

So what is Rayman's defining goal which powers him throughout all his games? It's gonna sound corny, but it's FRIENDSHIP.

And you'll say 'oh that's not uncommon, most videogame protags do stuff for the sake of their friends', but it's kinda more than that.

Rayman LIVES AND BREATHES through the love and support of his friends.

Rayman is a strange little freak guy, one of a kind even amongst his own species*, and instead of being shunned and alone he is held up and supported by his friends and propelled forward by the power of friendship. This is more of a driving force in his life than a romantic interest, a prized possession, or any kind of praise.

(*I still use the logic of Rayman 1 that other limbless beings like Rayman exist but were not created by magic. Hence why Rayman has immortality)

On the surface you have his friendship with Globox as a clear example of his devotion. Despite their differences the two are like brothers and bond through various games in different ways. saving and being saved by Globox is a big part of Rayman 2. Curing Globox of Andre is literally the driving force of Rayman 3.

When Rayman is trapped by the pirates at the start of Rayman 2 he is absolutely distraught, powerless and unable to escape on his own. Without Globox risking his life on the vague chance he'd get put in a cell near Rayman to give him a silver lum, Rayman might never have escaped the Buccaneer. Rayman's friendship with Globox trumped Globox's absolute fear of the pirates.

Rayman's friends are always the ones giving him support and gifts and powers to help him save the day, not in a 'you suck lets hold your hand as you go through the game' way but in a 'we have absolute faith in you, friend, anything we can do to help we will!' way. And in turn Rayman returns that love through his actions and compassion. Rayman is who he is because of the love and acceptance of his friends. Hence why he is always seen relaxing with them, chilling with Globox and Barbara and Murfy and the Teensies.

And it's Rayman's willingness to befriend others and turn the other cheek that betters him overall. Mosquito, Inspector Grub, the Rabbids, they have all been part of his journey despite being antagonistic to him at the start.

When Rayman is separated from his friends, or unable to make new friendships, he kinda falls apart and struggles by himself. He gets lonely, realises how small he is in the world. If he doesn't have a focus to find his friends and help them he is lost.

Which makes perfect sense when you see a version of him in Laserhawk.

Rayman is the most popular mascot in Eden but HE DOESN'T HAVE FRIENDS.

The closest connection he has is to the Counsel who run Eden and even they keep him at arm's length from what we see in the show. They are not his friends, they are his abusive, neglectful bosses that dropped him the minute he stepped out of line, and without them Rayman has NO ONE ELSE in the city he can rely on.

No wonder he's a complete mess even before the show starts. He has no one to confide his fears in, no one who understands his unique perspective. He probably has yes-men and people willing to lie about how great he is, not to mention adoring viewers and a whole fanclub of kids, but even Rayman knows that's fake. They are not his real friends. He's the picture of the lonely celebrity in an ivory tower.

You can see it in Rayman's face when he meets Bullfrog, and Bullfrog VALIDATES his feelings of betrayal and anger against Red and the Counsel. Finally he has someone showing him genuine compassion but also not mollycoddling him. Someone who is honest with him and not freaked out by/judgemental of how he looks. He's scared and angry, but there is a light at the end of the dark tunnel before him.

This and being replaced by Eden is the breaking point that causes Ray to become Ramon and fight back. He now has an end goal, take revenge on the Counsel and save Bullfrog from the electric chair. He has multiple reasons for doing this ranging from his belief in protecting hybrids in general to protecting his image to taking away some of Eden's power at gunpoint...but I also like to think he did it because he put his faith in Bullfrog.

Because as well as being one of the only people in Eden who might have an idea of what's going on behind the veil, he's probably the only person Rayman could consider a friend.

★⪀ In my headcanon, his name is "Allan Ranzie", his nickname being "MagicMan".

★⪀ He can extend his wand into a broom long, and fly around with it like a witch!

★⪀ He is trilingual just like his son Rayman, knowing English, French, and his native language, Jibbernesse. (the language Rayman speaks in Rayman 2)

★⪀ Even though he's around his late 30s and is a very powerful Magician, he's still afraid of the dark, the reason why he uses his wand as a night light a lot of the time.

★⪀ He's somehow very skilled at playing the flute, his wand can even turn into one!

★⪀ He actually was created by an Elder fairy, as a last gift for Betilla before she ran off with him, Betilla escaping from an abusive Fairy colony hundreds of years ago.

★⪀ I wanna share this fact since it's one of my favorites, but MagicMan is Aceflux!

★⪀ It took him a long while to notice Betilla's love for him, which was exactly 3 years. God, he's obliviously loveable!

★⪀ The day Betilla created Rayman, MagicMan swore to forever cherish Rayman as his son.

During his time on board The Dark's Dare, Rayman had been fitting in very well. The kids seem to be thriving on the ship and doing their best to help out. Lumlight was able to provide directions and her light guided them through the thickest fog, while Tily was able to help out with the physical chores. Grute has been helping by keeping an eye out on the kids, continuing to teach Tily and Rayman about the upkeep of the ship.

Minnie had surprised Rayman with his own pirate outfit. Having asked for his measurements and his color choices. He looked the part of second in command to the Black Lum. Finnegan gave him a knife, a sword, and his own energy flintlocke to use in case of emergencies. He shared the captain's quarters with Raymona and the kids, so he wouldn't have to be apart from them.

Raymona had gotten in contact with Murfy, who had tipped them on a high profile slave in need of rescue. They had been taken back to Port Shanghai by Razorbeard. Raymona dons the disguise of the Black Lum once more and they begin the journey back to the port city. Grute would instruct Rayman on what he needed to do: let the captain do most of the talking, do not let anyone near the coffer of money and gemstones, and try not to start any fights with Razorbeard or the pirates. They were meant to be bodyguards for the captain, and Grute warned him that Rayman's presence may lead to the admiral trying to provoke him.

Before Raymona put the disguise magic that covers her face and changes her voice, she pulls her husband in for a hug and a kiss before the shadows cover her face. She made sure her wedding ring was concealed beneath her black gloves before they arrived in port. Grute hoisted up the coffer and joined Rayman and The Black Lum as they disembarked the ship and made their way to the slave markets. The same one that held Rayman once.

Many of the bystanders attending the market began to whisper and gossip amongst themselves as they saw Rayman with his new attire. Razorbeard would approach, rubbing his hands together.

"Come to bargain with me once more, Black Lum? I see Rayman has been fitting in well amongst your crew. I told you he would make a fine addition!"

Rayman Headcanons

Oh shoot. I've become so hyperfixated on Rayman (despite not having time to play the games 😭) that I've developed some headcanons for him. Buckle up lads, this is gonna be one hell of a list.

Rayman's creation is pretty much the same from the trailer for Rayman Origins except he was actually a literal baby when the ritual worked. Oh and he was also created as part of a test for Betilla to pass for some magic exams or something.

His mother Betilla was pretty shocked at the results but soon adored the little thingamajig she created using some energy from some lums, an eggplant (lol), random strands of hair and blood. Rayman's cuteness won her extra marks as well. XP

His grandfather is the Magician who took Betilla in when she was young, alongside some other little nymphs who were displaced due to Mr. Dark stirring shit up.

Rayman and Betilla had a peaceful life together until he was only five when Mr. Dark began attacking the valley. She had to send him away to an old friend of hers, Murfy, to ensure that he'd be safe, even if it was painful.

For a while, Rayman had trouble adjusting to his new surroundings in the Woods of Light, until he met a talkative young Glute called Globox. Since then, the two of them had been best friends for life.

Rayman isn't a "prophesised" hero nor was he originally created to be the protector of the Glade of Dreams. He was just a magic experiment that became his own person, and he's cool with his unusual origins.

He's pretty much got the same personality as the one in the games, with his eagerness to help people being very great. Betilla was hesitant to give him the abilities he earned to fight Mr. Dark, but since nobody else was up to the task (or unable), she relented.

Even while being the Guardian of the Glade, he's still a big kid at heart and always tries to have fun so that he wouldn't be bored. Murfy jokingly calls him a bad influence that has dumb luck.

COMPLETELY in love with Ly, a wingless fairy, that is studying lumology.

Freed and befriended Clark at the start of the pirate invasion.

Initially hated the Rabbids with a passion for their shenanigans until he managed to convince them that invading another planet (Earth) wasn't right and managed to help broker a peace deal between them and the humans. Yes that does sound over the top but c'mon, I can definitely see him preaching for world peace. XD

Met Barbara when he was travelling between different worlds for a vacation. Their meeting was awkward since the people in her kingdom mistook him for a monster but she managed to befriend him after he helped her in slaying a dragon.

Often has nightmares about Mr. Dark, the robot pirates, the rabbids becoming evil again, the teensie Magician (different from his grandfather).

He is 28, similar to the age of his first game.

He is also demi-bisexual and is pretty open about it.

Loves chocolate, the native fruit to the glade, chicken (from Barbara's world) and peach juice.

His eagerness to help people often leads to him unintentionally neglecting himself and becoming burnt out. So he has to be reminded to take it easy every once in a while. XP

Is godfather to Globox's 650 children and finds babysitting them hectic. XD

4.) Dolos: With Elio (My Waddle Dee Oc who is the son of Bandee), after the betrayal of his friends. Elio was the one who went after Dolos. Elio tries to explain what's going on but Dolos doesn’t want any of that. They fight and Dolos can't bring himself to leave a scratch on him.

A. Because he’s very close friends with him and his sister

B. He felt pity for his disability

After that Elio took that chance to run. Leaving Dolos to think about what he had done. He wishes to apologize to him but couldn't find him anywhere, he’s avoiding him..

Zelena: Raymesis. She’s always there when Raymesis get scold if he doesn't succeed in his mission. But Zelena noticed Raymesis despise her. Why though? Did she do something to him? She only been nice to him when she was created.. Why is he so aggressive to her? According to Shadow (Shadow Rayman) Raymesis is jealous to her when Mr.Dark praises her. Telling her she did a better job than him and the rest of his siblings. Zelena felt horrible? She felt like its all her fault. She always apologize to Raymesis but he never dares to listen to her.

R2: No one, yet. R2 never done anything to his fellow family members.

6.) Dolos: Oh yes! Basic abilities that Marx has—splitting apart, creating black holes, and his own signature spell that is similar to Marx. He also learn chaos magic from Dimentio, Jevil, and Marx. Is he proud of that? It’s a yes and no. For the yes part, it’s all cool and it’s explosive magic. Great to blow up your enemies! For the no part, it drains your energy. Yeah no fun :P

Zelena: Dark magic is running through her blood. From what Dad (Alas) said. She was taught how to control dark magic by Mr.Dark himself! She learned her very own signature spell from Mr.Magician himself! Least favorite magic? Definitely light magic. Sorry Mr.Magican but it’s useless.. and weak.

R2: Technology magic!!! It’s so much easier!! Beep-O, Jeanie, and Peaches taught him the basics of it! What’s his least favorite magic? None!

8.) Dolos: ..Accidentally called Susie ‘Mama’ …He did not repeated again when Susie asked him again. Magolor and Taranza remembers that and always tease Dolos about it.

Zelena: Embarrassment? Hmm.. That feeling that Rayman feels the most from Ms.Betilia!! Probably when her Dad said, “My baby girl all grow up!!!! Wahhhhhh!!-” that made her hair turn pink hues..

R2: Beep-O showing embarrassing photos from his ‘youth’ days. That made him scream to Lu’s shoulder—when Lu, Mari, Yosh, Rosa, and Edge look at his photos. He was fully pink all day.

9.) Dolos: Is the one to start drama. He has entire Kirby team chasing his ass to stop him from freeing Marx and wanting him to understand them. But before that, he was the type of friend to pull pranks (The ones he close to) and express his interest. His machines help others in need! He always listen to his friends need when they’re feeling sad. Elio misses the old days so do Dolos and Maanya.

Zelena: She’s laid back and calm. Her friends are Raymesis and Shadow. But now it’s Rayman and his friends. Well she pretends those are her friends in order to trick them.. Anyways, like Dolos she will listen to her friend's problems. She will even protect her friends from bullying! What a sweetheart!

R2: Calm but short-tempered like Beep-O. Like Father and Son they say. Like Dolos and Zelena he would listen, protect his love ones. He’s the one with the brains and has a heart of gold! That's R2 for you!

Rayman Darkness Returns (FanMade Game)

Plot Summary: When the Glade of Dreams is threatened by the return of the sinister Mr. Dark, who has teamed up with the Seven Deadly Horrors—each embodying a different aspect of fear and despair—Rayman and his eclectic band of friends, including Globox and the Teensies, embark on a daring adventure through the enchanted yet perilous Nightmare Veil. As they traverse twisted landscapes and face nightmarish creatures, they must confront their own fears and insecurities to reclaim the light of dreams. Along the way, they gather allies from the Glade, each representing a unique dream quality, to help them in the ultimate showdown against Mr. Dark and his horrific minions.

Main Character Outline: Rayman, the fearless and whimsical hero, is known for his quick wit and agility. He’s driven by a deep love for his friends and the Glade. Globox, his loyal but clumsy companion, provides comic relief while harboring a surprising bravery. The Teensies, quirky and resourceful, offer wisdom and magic to aid their quest. Together, they represent the power of friendship and hope against the encroaching darkness.

Potential Conflict: The main conflict arises as Rayman and his friends not only battle the external threats posed by Mr. Dark and the Seven Deadly Horrors but also face their internal struggles—fear, doubt, and the temptation to give in to despair. They must overcome these challenges to unite the Glade and restore harmony before the Nightmare Veil engulfs it forever.

Raydad and his tiny lum daughter. This is Lumlight and she was going to be a major character down the line within my Rayman stories when I was planning on writing fan fiction. Now she's a character that may pop in depending on the timeline over on my roleplay blog.

The original story for Lumlight within my old stories went like this:

Mr. Dark was planned to return as a major villain when he finished his recovery period. This would've been long past the events of Rayman Legends. Mr. Dark knew that if he had any chance of taking Rayman on again, he'd have to strip him of his allies. When Rayman managed to rescue his friends with ease, Mr. Dark began using more underhanded methods. The primary target became Raymona. He knew that if he robbed Rayman of his girlfriend, it would be a major blow to the limbless hero. He succeeded in capturing Raymona and left her to Jano. Jano sealed Raymona away in a nightmare realm. In a last ditch effort, she used her power to weave a one of a kind lum. One made of pure light. She sent the Lum away to find Rayman before she succumbed and fell into an "eternal sleep plagued with nightmares." Mr. Dark went to great lengths to convince everyone that Raymona was dead. Rayman was in denial but eventually fell into grief and heartbreak at the thought that it might be true.

Lumlight, lost, cold, and scared appeared outside the window of Rayman's home. The limbless hero brought her inside and she told him her story. Hearing that Raymona might still be alive gave him the boost he needed. Rayman took to the lum like she was his daughter given that she was one of Raymona's creations. In his head, it was like how Betilla made him and Ly made Raymona. He was the one that named her, Lumlight. Lumlight would begin calling Rayman her dad not long after.

In his quest to rescue Raymona and defeat Mr. Dark, Lumlight becomes a member of his team. She serves as an active source of light, but her greatest power is the power to dispel or ward off darkness power or Nightmares. She is Jano's weakness. This made her an active target by all the villains within the glade. This leads to Rayman being a lil bit of an overprotective parent. She is also small and Rayman's one worry is her getting squished by something.

She goes with on Rayman's quest to defeat Mr. Dark. She helps him with defeating Jano and rescuing Raymona, and also played a part in helping Demona. Lumlight temporarily fuses with her and allows Demona to become less hostile and violent permanently. She is downgraded from an active danger to the same troublemaker status as her brother, Raymesis.

Lumlight was going to go with Rayman to the final confrontation against Mr. Dark and she was going to be the "final blow" by temporarily fusing herself to him and overloading him with light power. This final attack left Lumlight severely weakened, but she survived. Rayman and Raymona adopt Lumlight. Mr. Dark is sent back into recovery, but Rayman's not out of the woods as Lumlight's birth began a resurgence of other old foes, and a few new ones.

Lumlight is the only lum of her type and Rayman is often approached by people that want to take time to study her. He refuses every time. The only ones allowed to are Ly and Betilla. Lumlight displays a higher grade of intelligence than typical lums. She is capable of speaking full words and not the gibberish type language most lums use. She is very young, but will grow and mature. Her powers are a mix of Ly's silver lums and the red lums Rayman used to heal with in Rayman 2 and 3, along with her own set of powers that make her unique. Lumlight can fuse herself to people and creatures. She is absorbed into their body and can provide either power ups, healing, or she can overload forces of dark and nightmare with light magic to defeat them. She needs to be careful with using the overloading because it can harm her in the process if she uses too much power.

Lumlight's voice claim is Lara Jill Miller. She's done voice acting work as Fink in OK K.O., Kari Kamiya within the Digimon Franchise, Haru in the english dub of Beastars, The voice actress for Juniper Lee, or my favorite and choice for Lumlight: Allie from the Curious George animated series

Everybody Is Dead...!

In the Metal Fight Beyblade verse, Rago is capable via Diablo Nemesis of absorbing the power of his opponent and gaining their abilities. He can also gain the abilities and power of everyone that opponent has fought from the beginning to the present.

Despite this, Pluto states that Nemesis has the power of every bey in the world by the time he and Rago do battle with the Legendary Bladers and company. It opens the door to a potential trickle down effect that would go on and on. It makes Rago's main ability one of the most horrifying in any verse.

This got me thinking about another potential trickle down that could be applied to another overpowered deity. This one being of light rather than destruction. Galeem. Due to the incredible amount of crossovers and cameos that can be traced via some path to someone within the Super Smash Bros verse, there's a disturbing amount of verses that are almost certainly reduced to non-existence alongside everyone that ever existed within that verse by the Lord of Light and it's "Everybody Is Dead" attack. That isn't counting restoring the verses back into existence and shuffling them while everyone in them become mindless slaves. Even the verses with stages, Mii outfits and music have potential to be completely screwed. A scenario like this would represent the absolute highest limit of Galeem's power...

Let's Talk About Venus' Name and Where It Came From!

Okay, look, I PROMISE that I'll talk about Slash eventually, but I just had another great idea for Venus!

Granted, this is not my original idea, I was inspired by mad_and_thick_as_thieves' story, "Light When All Grows Dark," on Ao3. If you guys haven't read it already, I highly suggest you do. It's only 3 chapters long and insanely adorable.

But back to business! The story had me thinking of other ways Venus could have gotten her name.

As most of you know, in The Next Mutation TV show where was introduced, "Mei Pi Chi" was renamed "Venus de Milo," after the famous Greek sculpture by Alexandros of Antioch. In what is the most indicative move to describe the series overall, in a show with action fighters who are named after famous Renaissance artists, the one female fighter is named after a statue. It's almost poetic in its laziness.

So, to help combat the inherent problems with her name, I've come up with a few suggestions to establish how and why she was named "Venus," and how it adds more to her character

Here's my suggestion:

Venus was found with no arms.

The primary explanation I've thought of is that the lab explosion had, unfortunately, blown off her arms.

That, or it could be a birth defect. But I feel like the lab explosion would make more sense. It's horrific, but it makes sense.

So, like the beautiful statue she is named after, a symbol of grace, beauty, and strength, the little turtle was named "Venus."

Or better yet, as a nod to The Next Mutation (shocking that I'm referencing it, I know), whoever found her as an infant named her "Mei Pi Chi", and once she meets the family and wishes to adopt a new name, she, the boys, and Splinter agree on "Venus."

Now, I saw someone in the comments of the story suggest that Donnie would make her cool robot arms, but I have a better idea.

In my own headcanoned origin for Venus, she was found after the lab's demolition, either by Big Mama, my yokai cat interpretation of Chung I, or another magically-in tuned yokai. Therefore, I propose that Venus would create floating arms/hands herself, made out of magic.

Kind of like our buddy Rayman here!

Except light blue and magic-y.

So yeah! Venus was trained to fight with magic despite having no arms. This would show how strong and determined she is to whatever she puts her mind to, despite how difficult it may be considering the circumstances.

Once they all meet up and Venus becomes closer to the family, I have no doubt that Donnie would want to convince her to give his robotic prosthetic arms a try, maybe having them infused with her magic. That'd be pretty cool!

Obviously, they wouldn't treat her differently just because of her disability, but they acknowledge it and try to help out if they can.

Since she had to learn how to balance herself, as having arms helps to stabilize your balance, she can do anything that everyone else can do. Even so, anyone would be surprised by how incredibly graceful she is.

Author's Note: I know this one was short, but as soon as I read that fanfic, the inspiration took a hold on me. Anyway, what do you guys think? Again, I'll get to Slash soon. I haven't forgotten about him.

Personal Headcanons #3

Another set of headcanons for everyone. I forgot to mention that transformations can count as separate entities. It just depends on how significantly different they are from the original form. EX: Goku's Super Saiyan 4 counts but any other of his transformations don't.

Let's get started.

Dark Jak

Has three states of mind: vicious honey badger, spiteful house cat and cuddly snuggle bug. How Dark Jak interacts with someone depends on Jak's viewpoints plus that person's actions. Those he likes are considered 'treasure', kind like a dragon with it's hoard. Expected as this form encompasses all animalistic instincts.

Addicted to positive affection. The moment you give Dark Jak any form of it, he's going to latch on for more. Will melt into a purring mess if given cuddles or nuzzles. Definitely knead someone with his claws but is extremely careful. Horns are surprisingly sensitive to soft touches.

This Dark Eco entity is an utter food fiend. Jak definitely didn't eat well during his time in the Baron's prison. Something Dark Jak will try to correct whenever possible. Make sure you stock up cause your pantry is getting obliterated in a food frenzy. Dark Jak absolutely loves any home cook meal and tries not to make a mess unlike with any other food(he'll tear into that like a hangry raccoon).

Can talk but prefers not to. If Dark Jak does speak then it's usually towards people he really cares about. His voice has a distorted growl to it which can be barely heard unless he talks. If you aren't unnerved by this vocal change, then expect small conversations with this dark form more often.

Hank J. Wimbleton

Hank is definitely an animal lover with cats being his obvious favorite. Considering Nevada probably has no animals, if someone ever takes him to a real world zoo then this man will be vibrating in excitement. Hank probably runaway with any petting zoo critters if ya don't stop the Crossling.

It is possible to earn his respect, even rarer his trust. This partly stems from how one views Hank as a whole. If you don't care about his reputation or don't want anything from him is one step in the right direction. Hank does value physical strength and combat prowess but willpower is also something he admires.

Inquisitive as all hell. Anything that has Hank's attention is gonna to be watched like a hawk. Sometimes the art of killing can get dull so a new one interest helps ease the boredom. He will ask(sign) questions if possible.

Seriously needs food therapy than just normal therapy. Considering Nevada is stuck in a post apocalypse, then Hank definitely ate shit that isn't healthy and possibly not moral(i.e potential cannibalism). He will eat dirt or rocks on habit even if there's actual food in the pantry.

Rayman

Uncomfortable around any circus to the point he will stay out of the area it's being hosted in. Rayman doesn't like the place but the Thingamajig is completely chill with any performers or kind workers. People speculate he've might be an ex circus member and had a bad time at his old job.

Definitely the type to indulge in some new hobbies. Rayman taken up gardening after the events of his second adventure and has a small garden to help with stress. (Rayman 2) It's more manageable than baking cause he might've became a stress baker with that hobby.

Rayman takes a lot of naps because his adventures are usually quite exhausting. Travelling on little sleep and barely any proper meals will do that to anyone. He used to sleep like a log but is now a light sleeper since his second adventure ruined that habit.

Rayman is quite a skilled painter. He likes to paint things or scenery that he witnessed on his adventures. The Thingamajig rarely sells them as it's just a hobby and only does it if he needs cash. Rayman's paintings might be magical in nature but its a coin flip on whether something happens or not. He doesn't really do it on purpose and is unaware of any magic mishap.

Stella Cross is an ordinary teenage girl who finds herself transported into another world full of mythical creatures and magic, Stella learns she is one of 7 chosen to awaken the world’s sleeping princess and unify this divided world.

Of cause, it’s easier said than done

Agents of Wu Xing

Inspired by 2000s cartoons such as Xiaolin Showdown and Jackie Chan adventures, as well as the Adventure Bros, Agents of Wu Xing is an adult action comedy focusing on five young adults as they train to master one of five elements (Wood, fire, earth, metal and water) and hunt down mythical keys to ensure that Xiangliu is never free to unleash unspeakable evil upon the world. Of cause as all 20 somethings do, they get up into various hijinks, friendship dramas and debates on internet memes.

Also there’s a group of villains with a Chinese Zodiac theme, idk how else to add that.

I did a blog for it back in 2021 for a uni project you can find here and had a Google slides for it but I accidentally deleted it and I’m forever heartbroken over it ;-;

Little Pink Magical girl hood

Current status, just an excuse to draw fairytale girls?

Little Red riding hood but she wears pink instead and the big bad wolf was actually just a socially awkward gremlin GF, also Pink has magic powers maybe?

Debating if there be a larger plot involving other fairy tales/folklore characters or just make each one a separate plot unrelated to Pink Hood, perhaps all set in the same world though?

Palette Witch

Iris is the guardian witch of a small town called Inksmouth which is home to toons of various kinds, though her closet companions is Julius the cat, a street wise feline who smirks to hide his fears, and Fanny the rabbit, Mayor of the town who worries for everyone’s safety.

Inksmouth is surrounded by an ocean of darkness and the town folks has lived in darkness for so long they don’t remember what natural light looks like. The town is repeatedly under attack by disfigured monsters from the sea, which Iris must destroy with her paint brush in order to protect her home.

But when a glowing light falls from the skies, Iris’s perspective of both herself and the world begins to shatter

Cartoon and anime characters from various genres find themselves as apartment roommates due to the difficulty of paying rant on their own, but can they learn to live with each other’s differences or will tensions rise between them?

Oh if I may ask, are these “Wild Ones” related to the People of Prhys or are you gonna make them separate from each other?

The wild ones and the people of Prhys are separate from each other. Forgive me for I am about to do a little bit of fan lore dumping.

When I was still able to actively write for my stories, Prhys WAS going to make an appearance down the line in Rayman Retold as it's own hidden city.

The people don't actually dress like Ly, but it is a city heavily influenced by both magic and celestial energy. It was a city that was considered extravagant. Lots of crystal work. Often called the jewel of the magical community, also the Astronomy capital of the glade.

They have their own teensie Royal Family that the Grand Minimus and his queen are closely allied with. Ruled by the Grand Duchess Miniselle and her three children. One son, one daughter, and one gender-fluid heir to the throne. Their name was Jules and they were going to be an important character for a certain story arc. They were going to be a love interest for Ales Mansay, aka the teensie magician and Mr. Dark fanboy.

Prhys is said to carry a ton of sacred lore and information that was lost to the people of the glade, some even unknown to The First King. This city is hidden away from the rest of the world and to access it, you need to perform a special ritual that involves the light of the moon.

Some folks like to claim that Ly traveled to Prhys to gain the information she needed to create her own thingamajig and that's how Raymona was born.

Now, the 80s gave birth to a plethora of memorable Saturday morning toy icons, most we wouldn't have learned if not for Robot Chicken. One of which was what my friend called their "ultimate 80s comfort show", created by Hallmark - Rainbow Brite! It's not a masterpiece, and wasn't as memorable lasting 13 episodes and a couple movies here and there in its original run, but dammit, it sure was cute to the point it really felt satisfying. One girl unifying the world, one boy winding up in the new world for his adventure... the show says it all. But after its run, one would might think it would have a chance at rebooting. In reality, it did - it's timeless, but at the same time, feels like it's bound to the 80s. Sure, it was brought back in 2009 and then brought back again five years later, but both couldn't stand up to the chance of being rebooted due to how successful Friendship is Magic was. That and well, if you believe Takostu, it's worse than you actually remember! Don't believe me, check out her for it! Since I'm a different breed of reviewer than her, I respect her opinion on it, and I do admit it sucks, but bear with me until I'm done.

The story begins when a boy named Brian finds a mysterious key, which then starts to glow. When the glowing stopped, he was riding a mysterious rainbow to an alternate world. There, he meets Rainbow Brite (as played by Emily Osment), and of course, since he's from Earth, it's a lot to take in for him, Rainbow Brite herself being part of it, even though most Earth people can't see her. As it turns out, it's got something to do with his key. But word on the rainbow-colored street is that a darkness is on the prowl. Her name is Dark Princess and she plans to bypass into Earth and turn it colorless. No color means no energy, and that's a bad thing! A bad thing, that's also a task reluctantly befallen unto Rainbow Brite's former friend, Stormy. Brian's key may now be in Stormy's possession, but he's not gonna turn a blind eye on Rainbow, can he? But that was only the beginning. Stormy's attack did what her mistress told her to do - and the breach in the Color Barrier was successful. Little did she know... Stormy had been lied to. Even though she had retrieved the Ring of Hallow Light from Brian's room (which was brought to Earth long ago to keep it safe from the wrong hands), one little question against Dark Princess meant immediate betrayal, sending her back to Rainbow Brite the way she should've been with her - as friends. The reunion leads up to the third and final episode, where at the end, the color is restored thanks to a new upgrade bestowed upon Brian.

And that's pretty much all you need to know about Rainbow Brite (poorly executed, at least - almost treated like the way Ubisoft treated Rayman) crammed into three episodes that feel more like a 45 minute OVA. Then again, the DC comics short series Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld (I'm not sure if many of you still remember that), may be shorter than it in a 11 minute special, but might be more worth looking into than this color puke. Again, that's my 2 cents, and it's there if you wanna watch it.

Side note: Even after a decade since this reboot's debut, I'm glad some of the crew who worked on this moved on to bigger and better things - like Rachel Vine writing for The Owl House and Emily Osment as the voice of Courtney in Dead End: Paranormal Park.
