I kept forgetting to post this cause I’ve been so busy, but this was my gift for the ever so lovely @sincerelywhistler ‘s birthday not so long ago of their Misery Demon OC (and loml) Wolf-Rayet<3

One of the best people I’ve gotten to meet since joining this fandom. Who knew being cool, sexy, mysterious, hilarious, and creative could all fit into one person am I right?

Bubbles and Arcs in NGC 2359 - January 2nd, 1997.

"What caused the bubbles and arcs in NGC 2359? The main suspect is the Wolf-Rayet star in the center of one of the bubbles - visible slightly below and to the right of the center of the above photograph. Most Wolf-Rayet stars are known to be massive, highly luminous stars that continually cast off material in a stellar wind - which commonly form bubbles in the interstellar medium. But the unusual structure of the NGC 2359 arcs indicate something more complex is going on. Is the star moving supersonically? Is there another energetic star in the vicinity? Future observations may give more pieces to this picturesque puzzle."

King Abdullah II, Queen Rania and Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan attended the national event marking the Silver Jubilee, held on the 25th Accession to the Throne Day on 9 June 2024.

Upon Their Majesties’ arrival to the event venue surrounded by the Red Motorcade, the national anthem was played and Royal Jordanian Air Force fighter jets conducted a fly-past.

Around 9,000 Jordanians attended the event, including members of the Royal family, senior officials and officers, and diplomats from Arab and foreign countries.

The event highlighted Jordan’s achievements throughout a quarter of a century, through a military parade by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and security agencies, showcasing the latest developments in these national institutions, reflecting the high professionalism and commitment of its personnel.

Around 3,200 personnel from all military and security formations and units marched before the stands.

The military parade also showcased various JAF vehicles, including tanks, cannons, and other weapons recently introduced to service, as well as defence machinery manufactured by the Jordan Design and Development Bureau, along with air shows by the Royal Jordanian Air Force, and free falling paratroopers.

The JAF musical band also performed at the event.

During the event, His Majesty and the attendees saluted border guards and anti-terrorism troops, as well as cadres who participated in airdrops to Gaza and worked at the field hospitals in the strip, in recognition of their efforts, and their role in safeguarding Jordan’s stability.

The event also featured cultural and folklore segments representing all governorates performed by over 1000 young men and women, with 12 floats representing each governorate.

A group of young Jordanians performed the Silver Jubilee anthem and another national song composed for the occasion.

james webb has snapped an image of a rare wolf-rayet star, a star phase that occurs in only some stars before they go supernova!! it’s super cool that we were able to see this, especially since you can see the star “shedding” its outer layers, resulting in the nebula you can see around it :D

A Wolf-Rayet Star Blows Bubbles - January 3rd, 1997.

"Wolf-Rayet stars can blow bubbles. These unusual stars are much hotter and more luminous than our Sun. All extremely massive stars will eventually evolve though a Wolf-Rayet phase. Approximately 200 Wolf-Rayet stars are known in our Milky Way galaxy. Wolf-Rayet stars generate bubbles because they continually eject their outer atmosphere as a stellar wind. This outgoing wind of particles typically carries away more than the mass of our Earth each year! The wind is caused by atmospheric particles absorbing outgoing starlight, although many details of this process are unknown. The Wolf-Rayet is the brightest star in the above picture and is in the center of the large bubble, within the nebula known as NGC 2359."

HUBBLE'S BUBBLE. 🌌🫧

This blue "bubble" surrounding a massive, late-stage star about 30,000 light-years away is called a Wolf-Rayet nebula.

It was created when speedy stellar winds interact with the outer layers of hydrogen that are ejected by Wolf–Rayet stars.
