TDV ASK - choose one song, what are the BEST and worst performances of this song in your opinion ? (date/actors/etc)
OUGH this is a good one!! I'll go with Wenn Liebe in dir ist just because it's the first song that comes to mind for bad and great performances nfgdd
The worst one I sadly saw live, back when I saw the show in May 2022, performed by Jakub Wocial. He just seemed either completely out of it, giving 0 energy, or way too much energy in his movements that I was overwhelmed by and felt rehearsed fknjf. Didn't help that his looks at the time didn't work for Herbert much in my opinion. The vocals were fine but the rest threw it off. The Alfred (Vincent van Gorp) was great but didn't save the performance either.
The best one however is hard! Can I say the one where the actors swapped roles? I obviously love Máté Kamarás version of it (Vienna 1999) but my love for him blinds me to its faults....Same with the Kevin Köhler version. Tbh Anton Zetterholm and Marc Liebisch always bring the best ones, with Raphael Groß and Charles Kreische as a close second, they just both have rlly good dynamics for this song and clearly have fun with it, I just cant rlly say a specific performance hmm but I'd def say Marc in 2012!

I couldn't have said it any better!
I am so happy I got to be a part of this night, one that only was made special by the unbelievable energy and dedication of the fans.
As Drew put it: 'we gave you a show - you gave us an EXPERIENCE!' 💜
Tanz der Vampire Vienna Closing Night
Well guys, it happened. The last Vienna Tanz show finished today. And let me tell you: it was absolutely fantastic! The cast got the emotional goodbye it deserved. But quite a lot of things happened and I am here to talk about it!
The Gags
Yes, there were actually some last-show gags! And a surprising good amount of them:
-During “Nie geseh'n”, Rebecca pulled the knocked out Chagal to her side and didn’t let him go.
-Instead of biting into garlic, Chagal gave Rebecca a big hug before running into the woods.
-Abronsius uttered Mark Seibert’s name in his sleep before “Carpe Noctem”.
-Krolock kissed Sarah before biting her.
-Not just Herbert, but ALL the ball guests clapped when the ball begun.
The Fan Participation
That was another great thing because the fans had a HUGE presence tonight.
-When Alfred muttered “no-one will miss Alfred”, the audience just went like “WE WILL!”
-During the Prayer, not just the actors, but the entire audience held up candles. Possibly the most emotional moment of the evening.
-When Alfred tried to remember the word “rib”, the audience just screamed “RIB!” and he was like “…rib.”
-Non-stop cheering.
-Standing ovations at “Die unstillbare Gier”.
-The entire Finale had the audience clapping and standing!
-A lot of roses were thrown.
-There was a rewritten version of “Eine schöne Tochter” sung by the fans outside to the actors as a goodbye song. Why did we choose this one? Because nobody did it before XD We wanted to have something fresh and not just the most well-known song. It was great!
The Cast
I am always going to remember this cast for it pretty much contains most of my favourite actors for the parts: Drew as Krolock, Abla as Sarah, Raphael as Alfred, Sebastian as Abronsius, Marle as Magda, Nicolas as Chagal and Florian as Koukol.
Hoooooly mooooly, EVERYONE was fantastic tonight. So many great moments from the actors. I think this is the best performance I’ve ever seen of this cast. Not one second did they lose energy. They were always at the top of their game. When the curtain call came, everyone received the loudest cheers. Even Florian Fetterle appeared at the bows! Great of the VBW to let him be part of this.
This was truly one of the best assembled casts I have ever seen in my entire life. Great work guys, great work.
But…it still felt too much like a regular performance
I don’t know why the VBW has such a bad attitude towards closing nights recently. I mean, let’s compare this to Elisabeth’s closing night in 2014:
Elisabeth: Two fan participations were officially permitted, the fan song was sung in the theatre and accompanied by the orchestra and Christian Struppeck, Michael Kunze and Sylvester Levay all held great emotional closing speeches.
Tanz der Vampire: Only one fan action was truly officially permitted, the fan song was not allowed in the theatre and without the orchestra but had to be done on a rainy street, NONE of the producers showed up on stage and there was no closing speech at all. If it weren’t for the fans and the small gags, it would have felt like a regular performance. Apparently the VBW want a closing night to pretty much be like any other night. I heavily disagree. A last show needs to be special. And the actors should have the opportunity to just have fun from time to time. If a closing night isn’t supposed to be special, why advertise it in a special manner? Why leave it to the fans to make it special?
I think that a show like Tanz der Vampire deserves a closing speech at least. Russia did it, even STAGE ENTERTAINMENT did it! Why can’t you? Why does the home of the vampires treat them less special than foreign productions do? It just makes no sense to me…
Overall
It was a great night! Thanks to the dedicated fans, an amazing cast and a phenomenal orchestra this was truly a night to remember! I will definitely miss this cast very much. Vampires…please don’t be gone for too long.
