“—and then he brought the cow into the lobby,” Wayne said, smiling blithely at Jim across the desk, “The lobby, Jim. Not the cafeteria like they alleged.”

Jim let out an extended, barely-audible sigh.

“One sec,” he told Wayne, grabbing his phone from the desk and jamming the cal button, “Ramirez? I need tech support.”

A few moments later, Ramirez shouldered into the room, a bottle of tequila under her arm.

“Here ya go,” she said, cheerfully dropping off two battered GCPD mugs alongside the bottle, “Don’t say I never did anything for ya, boss.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Jim muttered, reaching for one of the mugs. Across the desk, Wayne’s eyes were wide.

“Teq…support.” He said slowly, shaking his head with a grin, “I’m gonna have to use that someday.”

Jim passed him a healthy pour of tequila, lips twitching under his mustache.
