3. Cultural Performances:
Evenings in the desert come alive with traditional Rajasthani folk music and dance performances. Enjoy the soulful tunes of local musicians and the graceful movements of dancers as you sit by the campfire, soaking in the warmth of the desert night.
4. Star Gazing:
The clear desert skies provide the perfect backdrop for stargazing. Without the interference of city lights, you’ll witness a sky filled with stars, shooting stars, and constellations. It’s a serene and awe-inspiring experience that will leave you in wonder.
5. Adventure Activities:
For thrill-seekers, our desert camping packages include activities like dune bashing, sandboarding, and jeep safaris. These adrenaline-pumping adventures are the perfect way to explore the dynamic landscape of the Thar Desert.
Local Festivals of Jaisalmer: A Cultural Extravaganza
Jaisalmer is not only about the desert but also its vibrant culture, celebrated through various festivals. If you time your visit right, you can witness some of the most colorful and lively festivals in Rajasthan. Let’s take a look at the top festivals:
1. Desert Festival:
One of the most anticipated events in Jaisalmer is the Desert Festival, usually held in February. This three-day festival showcases the rich heritage of Rajasthan, offering a unique opportunity to experience the culture up close. Key highlights include:
Camel Parades: Watch camels adorned in colorful attire as they march through the desert, showcasing their grace and importance to the region.
Folk Performances: Enjoy traditional music, dances like Ghoomar and Kalbelia, and puppet shows that reflect the folklore of Rajasthan.
Competitions: Quirky competitions like the Mr. Desert contest, camel polo, and turban-tying contests add a fun and lively atmosphere to the event.
2. Jaisalmer Fort Festival:
Held in February, the Jaisalmer Fort Festival celebrates the city’s architectural gem, the Jaisalmer Fort. During this festival, the fort is decorated with lights and hosts cultural events, including Rajasthani folk music, dance performances, and art exhibitions. This festival is a tribute to the fort's historical significance and is a visual spectacle not to be missed.
3. Ramdevra Fair:
The Ramdevra Fair is an important religious event held in Jaisalmer, where devotees gather to pay homage to Baba Ramdev, a revered saint in Rajasthan. The fair attracts thousands of pilgrims and offers a unique opportunity to witness the local faith, rituals, and customs.
4. Teej Festival:
Although celebrated across Rajasthan, the Teej Festival in Jaisalmer is an experience of its own. Held during the monsoon season, this festival is dedicated to Goddess Parvati and is marked by colorful processions, swings, traditional music, and women dressed in beautiful attire. It’s a vibrant celebration of womanhood, love, and fertility.

Kuldhara is an abandoned village in the Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan, India. Established around the 13th century, it was once a prosperous village inhabited by Paliwal Brahmins. It was abandoned by the early 19th century for unknown reasons, possibly because of dwindling water supply, an earthquake, or as a local legend claims, because of the atrocities by the Jaisalmer State's minister Salim Singh. The local legend claims that while deserting the village, the Paliwals imposed a curse that no one would be able to re-occupy the village. Those who tried to re-populate the village experienced paranormal activities, and therefore, the village remains uninhabited. Gradually, the village acquired a reputation as a haunted village and started attracting tourists. The local residents around the area do not believe in the ghost stories but propagate them in order to attract tourists.
