Rain's LU Febuwhump: Day 8
"Why won't it stop?": Sky
Wind flinched when Sky started screaming again. A wizzrobe had managed to get a lucky hit, and when the fight was over he fainted and hadn’t woken up since.
Occasionally he would start screaming. It was agony to have to sit right there but not be able to do anything.
Most of the time it wouldn’t be actual words, just a desperate cry that wouldn’t stop until Sky lost consciousness again.
-
It happened again, in the middle of the night. The chain shot awake at the sound of Sky’s shouts. If Wind listened, he could make out the words ‘Zelda’. The younger boy wondered what nightmareish visions he was having, wishing he could stop them.
Wind watched as his brothers ran over, talking to each other to work out what to do. Hyrule was trying to see if Sky would respond to his name, but the knight couldn’t recognise his surroundings.
Suddenly, his eyes shot open, frantic. He was breathing quickly, and Time was trying to calm him down.
“Time.” He croaked, then whimpered, hands grabbing his ears.
Time tried to move his hands down and away, but Sky flinched and started shaking his head.
“Make it stop, make it stop.” He repeated it like a mantra.
“Sky, I need you to focus on me.”
“Make it stop.” He groaned.
“Hey bud, can you hear me?”
“Make it stop why won’t it stop why won’t it stop.” Sky’s breathing was getting faster, and coming in shorter gasps.
“I can’t help you if you don’t tell me what’s wrong-“
Skye pressed his forehead to his knees, a tortured groan forcing its way through his lips.
“Why won’t it sto-op?”
“Sky, you need to breathe!”
Hyrule suddenly lurched forward, putting his hands on either side of Sky’s temple and the hero slumped.
Hyrule covered his mouth with his hand. “I’m sorry.” He whispered, staring at Sky’s limp form. “I’m sorry I didn’t-“
“It’s okay.” Legend said, a hand on Hyrule’s shoulder.
Warriors sighed. “We all just want to help him.”
He didn’t voice the rest of his sentence, but they all knew what it was.
We could if we knew what was going on.

Febuwhump Day Twenty-Four: "I'm doing this because I care about you"
Featuring Four and Legend. Probably at least half of the reason I picked Four for this is because it's day twenty-four. I missed my chance at four and fourteen, so here we are lol
AO3
First part | <- Previous part | Next part ->
-------------------------------
Four staggered under Legend’s weight as the veteran leaned heavily against him. They half-stumbled, half-ran through the woods, Four’s boots slipping in the wet grass. He took a misstep and nearly lost his grip on Legend, the older boy groaning while his steps dragged. Four gasped, trying to get a better grip on Legend’s tunic, arms aching from supporting him for so long. He risked a glance over his shoulder, trying to see through the lashing rain. He thought he saw shadows move in the distance, weaving through the trees toward them. He turned back around, trying to run faster.
Legend’s boot caught on a root and he toppled forward, bringing Four down with him. Four yelped as he landed flat on his stomach, mud slicking the front of his tunic. He dragged in a breath and forced his trembling muscles to cooperate, trying to haul Legend to his feet. The veteran groaned and swatted at him, mumbling something incoherent. Four paused, pushing a hand beneath Legend’s bangs to feel his forehead. It burned under his palm despite the rain and Four cursed, looking behind them again. A monster screeched, far too close. He threw a desperate glance around. Legend was in absolutely no condition to fight and Four wouldn’t be able to defend him against so many monsters. Tall, thick evergreens stretched high overhead, the needles only blocking out some of the rain. Shrubs grew between the trees but none were big enough for Four and Legend to hide in. A monster cried again, closer, hunting. Four bit his lip and shook Legend’s shoulders.
“C’mon, Vet, please,” he hissed, fingers digging into the red tunic. Legend batted weakly at his hands, mouth twitching in a frown as he shook his head, soaked bangs falling in his eyes. He did nothing to help Four walk. Four looked around again, heart slamming against his ribs. Then he spotted a fallen tree, a massive tangle of roots sprouting from the upended base. Making a hasty decision, he wrapped his arms around Legend’s armpits and hauled him backwards toward the tree. Legend squirmed, attempting to dig his heels in the mud as he clawed at Four’s hands. Four felt a sharp sting as Legend’s nails scratched across the back of his hand but he ignored it. He finally managed to make it around the roots and he dragged Legend up against the trunk. He dropped Legend then shoved him as far up behind the roots as he could without hurting him. Legend immediately tried crawling back out so Four did the first thing his panicked brain could think of and sat on the veteran’s stomach. Four could hardly be considered heavy and in any other circumstance, Legend would have been able to shove him over easily. But Legend’s fever-addled brain could hardly string together a sentence, let alone come up with the coordination needed to get out from under the smith. He tried once or twice before a whine left his throat, head thudding back against the ground in defeat.
A screech sounded close by and Four leaned over Legend, staring out through the roots with wide eyes. The roots only hid them so much. He hoped desperately the monsters didn’t pass too closely on that side of the fallen tree. He caught a flash of armor and a green tail through the roots. He hunkered down further, nearly flattening himself against Legend. The lizalfos slowed, bowed its head to examine the ground more closely. Abruptly remembering all of the mud, Four’s eyes darted out to where he’d stepped. Gouges lined the mud where he’d dragged Legend, but patches of grass threw off the trail and it didn’t lead to where the two hid. He stared at the lizalfos, breathing slowly through his mouth and remaining as quiet as he could.
Legend let out a whimper and the lizalfos stiffened.
Four whipped his head around to see Legend shaking his head from side to side, expression twisted in discomfort.
“Le- lemme go, I did’n… did’n do it…” he mumbled.
Four clamped both hands over Legend’s mouth, breathing picking up as he looked back toward the lizalfos. It stalked in their direction, tail flicking back and forth.
Pain burst in the blade of Four’s hand and he sucked in a breath, yanking his hands back. Blood welled in teeth marks in his skin, the same blood staining Legend’s teeth. Legend squirmed beneath him, shoving at the smith with renewed vigor.
“Lemme go,” he groaned, louder.
“Vet, be quiet, please!” Four whispered, grabbing Legend’s wrists to keep them from pushing him over. Legend responded with a high-pitched whine. Four cursed, glancing back. The lizalfos continued making its way toward them, picking through bushes and growing ever closer. Four forced himself to take a deep breath. He slipped a hand into his bag as Legend whined again, fighting weakly against Four. He glanced down at Legend’s mud-streaked face and sent a mental apology to him. Then he grabbed a roll of gauze and stuffed it into Legend’s mouth.
Legend’s eyes widened and he immediately grabbed at the makeshift gag, yelping into it. Four held his wrists fast so he couldn’t take it out. Between the gauze and the rain, Legend’s vocalizations were hardly audible, but his fighting caused too much movement. The lizalfos would be able to spot them with Legend’s stark red tunic and Four’s multicolored one. Four set his jaw, forcibly jamming his empathy into a corner of his mind. With a shove, he pinned Legend’s arms to the ground and lay flat against him, holding him still. Legend writhed beneath him, abdomen rumbling against Four as he tried to yell. Four bit his trembling lip, narrowing his eyes against the tears. You have to, he told himself firmly. You have to, you’ll both die if you don’t.
Legend’s heartbeat thudded rapidly against Four’s ear as the smith turned his head to get a look at the lizalfos’s position. He caught flashes of it creeping through the shrubs, head sweeping back and forth as it searched. It moved closer to the tree, but didn’t look directly at them. Legend suddenly bucked beneath him. Four jerked, panic spiking in his mind. He shifted, digging a knee into Legend’s gut and pinning him down. He barely made out a muffled whine from the veteran. The bridge of his nose burned, vision growing blurry as hot tears welled in his eyes. You have to.
The lizalfos stopped on the other side of the roots, mere feet away. Its forked tongue flitted out of its mouth, lashing at the air briefly. Four stiffened, all too aware of his bleeding hand. Rain pounded against the ground and trees in a quiet roar and he could only hope the water was enough to smother the scent of blood. The lizalfos stood there, head twitching from side to side, eyes darting around, tongue tasting the air. Four breathed silently through his mouth, Legend’s heartbeat deafening under his ear. Legend continued to squirm, voice muffled by the gag. The lizalfos blinked, licked the air. Then it turned and darted back the way it came.
Four listened to it slink through the underbrush, the sounds growing fainter. He waited a long moment, then another. Then he sighed, going limp over top Legend. Legend twisted. Then he wrenched his arms free of Four and punched the smith in the jaw.
Four yelped, head snapping back. Before he had a chance to recover, Legend grabbed him and threw him to the side. Four hit the ground with a grunt, blinking raindrops from his eyes as he pushed himself up. Legend collided with him and sent him back to the ground, knocking the air from his lungs, head smacking painfully against the dirt. Legend untangled himself from Four and vanished a moment later, hurried footsteps receding behind the rain.
Four coughed, rolling onto his side. He looked to where Legend had run only to see nothing but trees. His eyes widened. He scrambled to his feet, head throbbing as he spun around. He barely managed to stop himself from calling after the veteran, cognizant of the monsters that probably still lurked nearby. He jogged a few steps in the direction Legend ran, blood roaring in his ears. His gaze darted to the ground, trying to spot Legend’s footprints in the mud. A few gouges scattered unevenly about the mud here or there, but not enough to get a good sense of where the veteran had gone. Four’s heartrate picked up and he ran further, looking around every tree and bush. Where- how did he get so much energy all of a sudden? He’d barely been able to move and then-
Four took a breath to call out, stopped himself again. He ran faster despite the exhaustion pulling at his legs. He had to find Legend. He had to, if Legend ran into a monster in his state- Four forced the thought from his head, running faster. He’d find him first. He had to.

Febuwhump Day 6: "I Love You" (Time/Malon)
Ao3
This takes place pre-lu
CW for blood and injury, multiple threats of death, and temporary character death
--------------------------
The worst dreams are always the ones where she can do nothing but watch. The ones where her body is paralyzed, the ground as uncooperative as quicksand. The ones where something terrible occurs. Something so horribly, vibrantly, gory that the only escape she has is to awaken from it, choking on hot, wet tears.
Never before had she realized how lucky she was to have that escape. To be able to curl into her husband’s waiting arms and let the images drift away, carried on the tide of his steadily beating heart.
Malon wishes she could do the same now.
This, however, is anything but a dream. The blood splotched across the ground, the sword lying useless amongst the green grass, the limp form crumpled beside it – it is all too real. As is the tall, lizard-like figure who stalks forward Link’s fallen body.
The Shadow grins and it sends shivers down her spine.
She thrashes again, straining helplessly against her bonds. Coarse ropes dig into her wrists, a tightly tied rag bites her cheeks until they ache. Somewhere behind her, a monster looms, claws slicing into her shoulder. Shards of pain travel down her arms, following the thin trails of blood.
But she has to get away, she has to. Link is right there, only a few feet away, broken and bleeding and helpless. She must reach him.
The Shadow extends talon-tipped fingers and drags Link up by his hair. He slumps in the monster’s grip, eye half-lidded and dazed. Blood dribbles from his mouth and nose and mars his clothing. He coughs and more splatters onto the lawn.
“So, this is the famed Hero of Time.” The Shadow shifts and his very being seems immaterial. Malon can see now how he got his name. “I’ll admit I’m disappointed. You went down so quickly.”
Blood-red eyes flick to Malon. A forked tongue zips out of scaly lips, quick as lightning.
“Love has made you soft.”
His grip tightens and Link lets out a sharp hiss.
“Let her go,” he croaks, “l-let her go or I’ll make you wish you were n-never born.”
The Shadow’s laughter rings out across the lawn, making the horses rear and dart further into the paddock. All except for Epona, who bucks and whinnies, trying desperately to reach her master. But the chain the Shadow had conjured around her ankle remains unmoving as ever.
“Make me wish that I was never born?” He jeers, tightening his grip on his captive. Link falls backward, bumping against his side. “Oh, my dear, dear hero! Are you unaware of your current situation? I recall you being smarter when we last met. Perhaps, you hit your head a tad too hard. That was quite the noise your skull made against my sword.”
The air flickers and suddenly, his ebony sword is back in his hand as though it had never disappeared. He fits it snuggly against Link’s neck, right over his jugular. Malon’s breath hitches.
“No!” She screams, kicking out, blindly. A clawed hand slaps her smartly across the cheek and her head snaps back. Before she can even recover, cool metal nips at her throat. She swallows, tasting icy fear.
“Malon!”
Link jerks in his captor’s hold, terror and fury battling in his gaze. The Shadow yanks him back, tilting his head in calm contemplation.
“Now, let me see. Which one of you should I kill first? I came here to slay the Hero of Time, but to find him with a wife…well, that was a pleasant surprise.” He pauses, that cursed gaze fixing itself firmly onto Malon. “Yes, I believe that is the answer. The wife goes first.”
“No!” The scream tears itself from Link, hoarse and desperate and agonizing, even as the words wash over Malon like spring rain, slowly seeping into her thoughts. With them comes a distant sort of terror, so close it turns her palms clammy, yet so far she hardly knows it is there.
Another monster grabs a hold of Link, claws digging into the wounds already marring his body. And the Shadow stalks towards her.
“Hello, dear,” he croons.
With a taloned finger, he removes the gag, allowing it to flop limply into the dirt. Malon fixes him with a glare.
“What makes you think killing us will help with anything?” She spits, straining to keep the fear from her voice.
He chuckles as he straightens, looking over her like an obsidian statue.
“Your husband is a hero, a blessed one of the gods. And as such, he has only furthered the relentless cycle that grips Hyrule. Without his demise, it will continue, unceasingly.
“As for your death, well — ” He shrugs — “that is merely for my own enjoyment. I wish to see your precious Link’s anguish before I slit his throat.”
“No!” Link screams again, fighting desperately against the monster who holds him fast. Chains have appeared around his wrists now, though Malon cannot remember seeing them before. They sing with every panicked movement.
“Don’t you dare touch her! It’s me you want, not her!”
A tear skitters down his cheek, glittering in the noonday sun. The sight of it breaks Malon’s heart.
Oh, fairy boy.
“I’m the hero,” he chokes, quieter now, defeated before his fate has even been set in stone. He raises his eye to the Shadow, a plea behind the fury in his gaze. “I’m the one who killed Ganondorf. Your vendetta is against me and me only. So, let her go…please, just let…let her go.”
The Shadow grins, all sharp teeth and shifting shapes.
“The Hero of Time groveling. It does me good to see a sight like that. I doubt anyone has seen it before, now, have they? Such a display of weakness is not to be taken lightly.” He gestures to the monster who holds the sword over her neck. “She is every bit as important to him as I hoped. So, go on. Do the deed.”
Something leaden and sickening and absurdly calm settles in Malon’s chest.
This is the end, her mind mourns. This is the end and there is nothing to be done now. Nothing to be done but to accept it.
“Link,” she calls and there is something hopeless in the way she does it. He looks at her, blood draining down his face, chest heaving with every panicked breath, pain and fear bright in his eye. But for a moment, she can see him as he was only this morning, gazing at her as though she is the most precious thing in the world, calloused hands cupping her face as he whispers that he loves her.
She smiles through her tears. His expression shatters.
“I love you.”
The Shadow grins, the monster begins to move its sword…
And the world comes to a screeching halt.
Malon remains still for a beat, waiting for the pain of metal slicing skin, waiting for the sensation of choking on her own blood. It doesn’t come.
The claws holding her are motionless. The weapon held against her neck doesn’t budge. The Shadow stays where he had come to stand, lips parted, fangs glinting, hand outstretched towards her. Off to the side, Epona remains reared up, hooves kicking at the sky, mane flying out in frozen strands of silken white.
The only person that moves in this strange place of living statues is Link.
He stumbles towards her, half-dragging his left leg. Chains still encircle his wrists, but now he holds his gilded sword in one hand. Behind him, a monster stands, a spurt of blood frozen in the space between his neck and chest.
“Link…what?”
She gazes around again, mind stuttering as it tries to catch up. She is no stranger to the oddities of her husband’s powers and adventures but this…this is something she has never seen before, nor heard of. As far as she knows, he has no power over time except by his ocarina. And that currently lies in a locked bedroom drawer.
He looks over her, fast and calculating and bitter. Then, with one swift movement, he drives his sword into the monster behind her. Malon cringes, awaiting a stream of gore that never comes. In fact, the monster doesn’t even budge. Like its companion, it merely remains where it is, gripped by the fate that does not yet have full reign.
Link kneels before her, now, knocking away the weapon that threatens her life, slicing at the ropes that bind her. He pulls and they fall away.
She raises her hands, rubbing dazedly at her aching wrists.
“What is this, fairy boy?” She murmurs, awed and terrified all at once.
“I’ll explain later,” he replies, quickly, shaking his head. And she knows that he will. “But we have time. Only…only a little, but we do.”
He reaches out, knuckles ghosting her cheek. She leans into his touch and draws a shaky breath. To feel him here warm and real is more than she could have hoped for after today’s events. In that terrible moment, she had believed that their only reunion would be in the icy embrace of death.
“They hurt you…again.” His voice cracks, shattering like a piece of pottery. “Malon, I’m…I’m so, so sorry.”
Lifting a hand, Malon rests it over Link’s, fingers intertwining with his.
“Oh, fairy boy, it’s not your fault.”
He gazes at her, broken and vulnerable. Then, slowly, he pulls away and gets to his feet. Holding out a hand, he helps her rise.
“I’ll fix this,” he says, voice growing tight and determined. “I promise you.”
And she has the strangest feeling that she has heard it before, that they have done this before.
What had he said earlier? That they had hurt her again?
“Link.” She steps after him, worry taking hold of her heart once more. Something is strange here. Something is wrong. “You’re keeping something from me. What’s going on? What’re you gonna do?”
He looks back at her, danger and grief in his eye.
“I’m sorry,” he whispers and time jolts back into normality.
No sooner has it done so, than the Shadow rushes forward and slits his neck.

Rain's LU Febuwhump: Day 3
"Bite down on this.": Legend
Warnings: Blood, Injury, Poison, Barb-tipped arrow, Unawareness of surroundings.
Art
Legend cursed. The stray arrow stuck out of his arm, shooting pain all the way down to where he gripped his sword.
It hurt like a bitch. Not that he’d ever admit it.
“-end? Legend?” Was someone calling his name? He didn’t remember the battle ending. Or sitting down. Or-
“Legend!” Oh yeah. People calling for him.
“Mhm?”
“Oh thank the goddesses. How are you feeling?”
His arm decided to remind him of its existence. Legend groaned.
“Just peachy. Ev’ything great.”
The person in front of him suddenly came into focus.
“Oh, hey Rulie. Watcha doin’.”
Hyrule seemed to be having a conversation with someone just out of view.
“I looks like a barbed tip arrow. It seems to be covered in some kind of poison too.”
Legend looked at the arm Hyrule was referring to.
“Man, I was wondering why my arm was sore.”
Someone sighed, and Hyrule pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Ok. Legend, I’m need to get this out of your arm before I give you a potion, alright?”
Legend nodded woozily. “Wha’ever ya say.”
Legend eyes stopped taking in what was going on around him as Hyrule carefully snapped the shaft of the arrow. Was his brain meant to feel this fuzzy?
“Hey, don’t go falling asleep.”
Falling asleep sounded like a pretty good idea. The ground seemed pretty comfortable… oh. Someone was holding something in front of his face.
“This is going to hurt Legend. I need to cut the arrow out of your arm.”
“Hmm.”
“Just,” the person in front of his groaned, looking a bit sick. “Bite down on this, ok?”
Legend didn’t feel like arguing right now, and the person seemed to know what they were doing, so he took whatever was in front of his face between his teeth.
Good thing he did, because it hurt. Actually, it hurt a lot. He was probably going to break his teeth biting down on the strap in his mouth.
Legend tried jerking his arm away from whatever was causing him pain, but it there was just more pain. Great.
It seemed that someone was trying to cut his arm open. Looking at said arm, there was blood leaking over a wound caused by something stuck in his arm, the skin around it being cut away by delicate fingers was also covered in blood.
Oh yeah. There was an arrow in his arm.
“Son of a one eyed goddess.” Legend swore around the strap. Except he couldn’t talk that well, so it sounded more like: “Shun ev a wu eye go’ess.”
Legend didn’t think it made a difference. His companions probably knew what he meant.
After agonising hours (It probably wasn’t that long), the knife was finally out of sight. Now could he have potion please?
Guess not. Legend had forgotten the head of the arrow was still in his arm.
When it was yanked out, his screech of pain and surprise (which, to someone walking by, probably sounded like a feral cat being waterboarded) caused the strap to fall out of his mouth, and his eyes (which yes, had been watering) to betray him and spill tears.
Someone was murmuring reassurances close to his ear, though he couldn’t make out what they were saying.
“Hurts.” He croaked out.
Hyrule came into focus again in front of him, hands covered in blood as he held a bottle to Legends lips.
“Here, drink this. It will be ok.”
The potion tasted familiar, but the smell of blood was strong and seemed to cancel out the nostalgic taste.
“It’ll be ok Ledge.” Someone new said. “Just sleep.”
And he did.

Rain's LU Febuwhump: Day 1
Helplessness: Four
Warnings: broken bones
Art
All Four was doing was investigating the sound in the forest. It could have been a rabbit or some other kind of animal. Now he won’t find out.
Stupid, careless. He was a Hero! He had defeated evil! He could split into four other people for Goddesses sake! He… wasn’t looking where he was going and had fallen down into a particularly large ditch.
When Four tried to move, pain spiked up his leg. If only he had brought someone with him, or at least told one of his brothers where he was going.
Four had already tried calling out, but the pouring rain and distance from the spot they had set up camp wasn’t much help. Mumbled curses didn’t help either.
Gritting his teeth, Four pulled himself up, keeping the weight off his injured leg. He reached up to grab a hold of the side of the ditch, but instead of moving upwards, the softened dirt collapsed under his fingers and sent him straight down again.
Four hissed, and said some things that would put a sailor to shame.
The others would be bound to notice he was missing by now, right? They might be searching for him right now.
“Twilight! Legend!” He called out. “Wild! Warriors! Time! I’m stuck!”
If his friends were near they didn’t seem to hear his calls. The stray bokoblin from Wind’s era however, did. The monster peeked over the edge of the ditch, mouth wide. Four gaped at the monster, and grabbed the nearest weaponish thing to him, a stick.
Four yelped as the bokoblin jumped down and started towards him.
“Get away you stupid thing! Stay back!”
His back was pressed against the wall of the ditch now.
“Help, somebody!”
Four grabbed a rock which sat to his right and threw it, striking the bokoblin in the eye. All it did was make the monster angry.
The teen cried out as the rock was sent sailing back to him, arms coming up to cover his face.
If Four knew one thing, it was that he hated being helpless.

Rain's LU Febuwhump: Day 9
Bees: Wind
Warnings: Bee stings, self-hatred
Art
Wind was bored. Wild and Hyrule had run off without him, Four and Time were busy, Twilight had disappeared, Sky and Warriors were resting after their injuries in the most recent monster fight, and Legend was snapping at anyone who tried to talk to him.
So Wind decided to go for a walk.
The youngest Link trampled through the forest, swinging his sword and singing sea shanties obnoxiously. If some dumb monsters heard him, at least they’d give him something to do.
“What will we do with a drunken sailor, what will we do with a drunken sailor.”
He his voice hit high and low notes, like he was trying to win an award for the worst musical performance.
“What will we do with a drunken sailor, early in the morning!”
Wind wasn’t sure how far away camp was now, but he didn’t really feel like going back yet.
“Way hay and up she rises, way hay and up she rises, way hay and up she rises- ooh.”
The boy stopped and looked up the tree. Hanging off one of the branches was a strange kind circular thing, and lots of bugs buzzed around it.
Curious, Wind picked up a small rock and aimed high. He hit the thing straight in the middle and cheered.
Wind quieted down. The buzzing was louder. He yelped as the bugs surrounded him, sounding angry.
One flew down and landed on his arm, the spot stinging. Wind flicked it off and inspected the sting. He was distracted by a similar feeling on his another arm.
The bugs began to attack.
Wind yelled out as he ran, calling for help from the weird little creatures. They continued to sting him, his arms legs and face, until he finally seemed to have run far enough away from their nest thing.
Once Wind was sure they had stopped pursuing him, he looked down at his arms and legs and the sting began to kick in.
“Ow, ow, ow.” He whimpered. Most of the bugs had left little pricks in his arms and legs, so he began to painstakingly pull them out.
There wasn’t very many, maybe ten or so, but they still hurt. Wind suddenly thought to look around, and he realised he didn’t know where he was.
“Well shit.” The boy voiced out loud. He’d also managed to loose his sword, so the other heroes wouldn’t be very happy with him.
Still out of breath from running, the sailor decided to rest for a moment before going to look for his brothers. Unfortunately when he went to get up, he was struck by a sudden wave of nausea that made him sink right back down.
Wind groaned. The bugs must of been venomous. Or poisonous. He couldn’t really remember the difference. All that mattered was he was sore, his head hurt, he felt ready to be sick, and he didn’t know where the others were.
Wind mentally scolded himself. No wonder the others thought of him as a burden. To them he was a kid who got lost and injured all the time. His Gran would call him an albatross, slowing them all down.
Wind hated those damn bugs.

Rain's LU Febuwhump: Day 6
"You lied to me.": Twilight & Wild
Art
“You- your.”
“Wild please.”
Twilight wished the situation had happened better than this. He’d planned to tell Wild that he and the wolf who’d guided him on his journey had been one and the same in a safe environment.
When the younger one had been having a good day. Maybe when they were talking about their journeys. Maybe he’d tell everyone all at once. Instead, he’d gotten a badly timed portal, a hoard of monsters armed to the teeth, and a shit ton of blood. Oh, and a very distressed Wild after a memory returned to him mid-fight.
“You lied to me.” He whispered. Wild pushed Twilights hands away, moving them up to his face and tugging on his ears, his hair.
“Do you know why I like Wolfie? Because-“ His words were cut off with a sob.
“I can’t talk to people. I don’t know how! Whenever I travel to towns, people judge me and I understand! I understand I’m different! But I hate having to put up with the stares and whispers and people telling their children to stay away from me!”
Wild looked at Twilight. “I have been called countless names, I have been called feral and abnormal. And I told Wolfie everything because animals are easy to understand. They don’t lie or judge me for who I am.”
“Wild-“
“And you sat there, while I pored my heart out to you-“
“I care about you Wild!”
Twilights sudden interruption made the younger stop suddenly. Twilight held out his hands as an offering, but when Wild didn’t take them he continued.
“I know that you may not see it, but we all do. You are my brother. And I can assure you there is nothing wrong with you.”
Twilight sighed. “I listened to what you had to say, and I try my hardest to help you because I love you. Ok? And yeah, I know that you might feel betrayed or like I was lying to you but I never wanted to hurt you.”
Wild sniffled. “Promise?”
Twilight opened his arms and this time Wild accepted the invitation. “I promise, cub.”
Wild laughed shakily. “I may have over reacted a bit.”
“No.” Twilight whispered. “I understand why you feel that way. But everything’s going to be okay now.”

Rain's LU Febuwhump: Day 5
Alternate prompt "I love you.": Twilight and Wild
Warnings: unconsciousness, injury, implied/referenced character death
Art
“Stay away.” Twilight growled. The approaching monsters growled right back.
Twilight swung his sword, though both him and the monsters knew it was close to breaking. “Stay away from him!”
Wild slouched behind his mentor, centimetres away from the edge of a dangerous drop. Blood flowed steadily from his side, coating his hands and the grass around him.
The monsters only drew closer. Twilight knew he was injured as well, but he was running on pure adrenaline, without only one thought in his mind. Protect his cub.
“Twi.” Wild croaked out.
“It’ll be okay cub.” The older one kept his eyes on the enemies in front of him. “The others will be here soon.”
“Twilight, you can’t fight them all.”
He sounded so defeated. Twilight hated it.
One ugly bokoblin tried to sneak around the side of him, and was greeted by a sword in its neck. The only problem with that was that the two heroes were now injured, cornered and defenseless.
Twilight looked around at the dire situation. “On three.” He said.
There was no reply.
“I’m going to turn around, grab you, and we’re going to jump.” Twilight said urgently, fear and panic lacing his words.
Still nothing. Nothing to tell whether his protege was still breathing or not.
Twilight blinked back tears. “I’m so sorry cub.” He counted down. “1, 2, 3!”
On the final count he spun around and grabbed the smaller teen’s body as the group of monsters charged with angry roars.
Then they were falling.
Twilight kept a firm grip on Wild, pulling him close to his chest.  He could feel the blood seeping through his fingers.
Twilight curled around Wild, like he could shield him from the free fall. “I love you.” He whispered.
They plunged into the freezing waters below.

Rain's LU Febuwhump: Day 7
Suffering in Silence: Hyrule
Warnings: Broken ribs, difficulty breathing, hiding injuries
Art
Hyrule was the healer of the group. The medic. He took care of everyone whenever they got hurt. When ever they needed it. Always.
And yeah, sometimes Hyrule might accidentally forget about some minor injuries. No biggie. As long as his brothers were ok, that was all that mattered.
-
The fight that day wasn’t different to any other one. It was going well at least, until a lucky boko managed catch Hyrule off guard and give him a good wack with its club.
“Hyrule!”
Huh. That was Legend. He was standing in front of where Hyrule lay dazed on the ground, shoving his sword through the boko’s stomach. The monster gave a questioning grunt before disappearing in a dark cloud.
“You right ‘Rulie?” Legend asked.
Hyrule nodded and stood, trying to ignore the world spinning around him.
“Is everyone else ok?”
“A couple scrapes, nothing to bad. You sure your good?”
Hyrule forced a smile. His chest was a bit sore, but he’d check it out later. The others were his number one priority.
A bit a healing magic and some potions later, everyone was back on their feet.
“We’ll set up camp over there.” Someone said. It sounded like they were speaking through water. Was that Time talking?
“‘Rule?” Wild asked?
“Hm?” When had Wild gotten there?
“Your looking a bit pale. Are you ok?”
Hyrule waved him off. “I’m fine. Come on, we’re lagging behind.”
Wild grinned. “Race you.” He said, before taking off towards the rest of the chain.
Well shit.
Hyrule raced after him, gritting his teeth at the gritty sensation in his chest. It burned when he breathed, but he would be fine as soon as they got to camp.
-
He wasn’t fine. Breathing felt like agony, and he hid his coughs as they tried to crawl up his throat.
“Going to the loo!” He chimed, before limping off towards the trees. No one spared him a second glance.
One he was out of sight of the camp, Hyrule eased his shirt up to look at his chest. It was already bruised pretty badly, and felt tender when he touched his fingers to it.
A red potion should heal it fine.
…double shit.
Hyrule had forgotten to bring a red potion with him.
Maybe he could just use his magic to heal himself? It would be a bit different to healing someone else but it would be fine, right?
Nopenopenopegobackreversebackundo.
Ow.
Hyrule sucked in a breath, which in turn made the burning in his chest flare up again. The others would be wondering where he was soon, so he should probably head back to camp.
His injuries decided against that. When he tried to stand, his ribs protested, making sure that he definitely knew they were there. It was harder to breathe now too. If Hyrule had to describe it, it felt like a moblin was sitting on his chest. A very heavy one.
Trying to breathe made the pain spike again. He’d get up in a second. Maybe two. He’d get up…
-
“Hey, has anyone seen where Hyrule went?” Wind asked.
“I think he went to piss.” Legend replied, not looking up from where he was cleaning his sword.
Wild looked over, brow furrowed. “Wasn’t that half an hour ago?”
Everyone stopped what they were doing.
“Wind, Sky, Wild. Stay here and make sure no monsters stumble upon the camp. The rest of us will go look for him.”
-
Hyrule opened his eyes blearily.
“Thank the goddess’s we found you.”
“Twi?” He mumbled.
“You absolute idiot! Why were you hiding injuries from us?!”
Ah, that was definitely Legend.
“Come on kid,” Time said, carefully lifting the younger hero. “Let’s get you back to camp.”
“And don’t ever hide injuries like that from us again you ass!”

Rain's LU Febuwhump: Day 14
Blood Stained Tiles: Warriors
Warnings: Blood, injury
Art
Warriors left the rest of the chain the second they reached the inn. Trying to hide his limp as he walked for the bathroom, he gritted his teeth to try and hold the noise of pain back.
Warriors had gotten injured in the recent battle, a lucky monster’s sword cutting into his leg. But they hardly had any supplies, so he had kept silent while the others treated their wounds.
He sunk to the ground once he’d closed the door behind him, taking off his boot and rolling the leg of his pants up to examine the cut.
It was deep, and he was glad no one had noticed the blood soaking his pants. They had enough to worry about without him adding more to the mix.
The captain pressed one hand to the wound as he reached for medical supplies with the other. When he looked back, the tiles of the bathroom floor were stained red. Great, now he had to clean them.
Someone called his name from outside the door.
“Oi, captain!” That was Wind. “Please hurry up? I need to piss.”
There was the sound of someone smacking the back of the youngest Link’s head, and a soft ‘ow’.
Warriors looked back at his leg. Damn. He’d lost a lot of blood. Not to mention he was feeling a bit light headed.
“Just wrap your leg.” He whispered to himself, wondering when he’d gotten distracted.
Clean up the injury. Bandage it. Clean the tiles. Simple. No one ever needed to know.

Rain's LU Febuwhump: Day 10
Killing in Self Defence: Wind
Warnings: Murder, Blood, Self-doubt
Art
The chain had been walking through Wild’s Hyrule for a couple hours. It had been relatively peaceful so far. A few stray monsters and that was it.
Wind sang sea shanties while sitting on Twilights shoulders.
Wild and Hyrule kept darting off the path  to inspect some bug or plant, often dragging Four over to look.
Time and Sky were deep in conversation.
Legend and made it his duty to insult Warriors, who sniped right back at him.
Everything was fine.
Twilight made a joke about something or the other, and everyone laughed. But Wind was the one who noticed the extra voice, the more sinister laugh.
He turned around to see a figure in a red costume, laughing along with the rest of them.
“Yiga!” He yelled.
Everyone spun immediately, drawing their weapons. The yiga stopped laughing and pulled out a deadly looking blade, curved like it would be used to gut them. That was probably the intention.
Wind kept down from Twilights shoulders, readying himself to fight along side his brothers. Then the sound of laughter and sickly sweet fruit filled the air.
Multiple yiga appeared out of smoke, surrounding the heroes. Wild snarled, and the yiga attacked.
They were fast. Leaping in quickly to attack then darting straight out again, disappearing then reappearing behind your back like some sort of magic show.
“Stop running you cowards!” Wind yelled as his blade met air once again.
He spun at the sound of laughter, but was too slow in moving his sword to block the slash of the yiga’s blade.
He felt the sting of a shallow cut across his collar, saw the glinting blood on the retreating blade.
When the yiga teleported away next, Wind was ready. He spun and slashed upwards, catching the assassin as they reappeared on his blade.
There was the feeling of his sword catching flesh and muscle, the spray of blood. The yiga fell, and lay still.
The yiga fell, and lay still.
Wind knew the yiga were people. Part of the Sheika tribe that had turned on Hyrule to support Ganon. Wild had told them that.
But it didn’t make it real until Wind saw the body just lying on the blood soaked ground, not disappearing like defeated monsters do.
That was a person. A living, breathing person.
Wind was okay with killing monsters. Mindless creatures that served the dark? Tried to kill anything that moved? That was fine.
No one would call that murder.
Wild called the yiga clan monsters. So why did the body lie there, so still?
“Wind?” Someone asked. Hyrule knelt in front of him, blocking his view of the body. “Are you alright?” He asked, expression one of concern and seriousness.
Wind blinked, trying to focus his gaze on Hyrule instead of what was behind him.
“I- I killed someone.” He whispered. “That was a person.”
Hyrule’s gaze softened. “Wind.” He said. “The yiga were trying to kill you.”
Wind swallowed. “Yeah but, he was still a person. I murdered him.”
“Don’t.” A sharp voice came from behind. Warriors knelt down next to Hyrule. “Don’t start thinking like that. Don’t go down that path. It was self defence, and you had no other option.” Warriors placed his hands on Wind’s shoulders. “The yiga are just like any other monster. You are a good person Wind, and just because they don’t evaporate like a bokoblin might doesn’t change that. Hear that?”
Wind nodded. But he still doubted their words. Maybe they were wrong. Maybe he was the problem. Maybe he was the monster.
Murderer, the little voice in the back of his mind hissed.

Rain's LU Febwhump: Day 4
Obedience: Wild
Warnings: Implied/referenced past abuse
When Wild first joined the chain, it wasn’t a secret that he tended to avoid Time and Warriors. Whenever they tried to connect with him, he would shy away from their hands and eyes, answering with simple sentences or not at all.
One day, after a particular difficult battle against 3 black blooded Lynels, Warriors rounded on Wild, calling him out for the poor strategy, but stopped abruptly as the teens back straightened, eyes glazing over.
“Wild? Are you ok?”
He didn’t reply. Warriors reached out to grab his shoulder, but pulled his hand back when Wild flinched.
“Hey cub.” Twilight said, concerned. “Can you hear me?”
Wild mouthed something.
“Pardon?”
“Sorry. It won’t happen next time sir.”
“Sir?”
Twilight looked back at his other brothers, the silent message of ‘What do I do?’
He turned back to his protege. “It’s ok Wild. It’s just us. I don’t know where you are right now, but can you come back to me?”
He gently took Wilds hands and murmured reassurances to him until Wild seemed to focus on his surroundings once again.
“Twi?”
“Mhm.” Twilight said softly. “Can you tell me what happened?”
Wild looked away.
“I can’t help you if I don’t know what’s wrong Cub?”
Wild sighed. “The soldiers, from before the Calamity weren’t…”
His cerulean eyes flicked to where Warriors was standing behind his mentor.
“Weren’t… the nicest. I just, I just thought…”
He trailed off, voice no louder than a whisper.
Warriors came to stand beside Twilight. “I’d never try to hurt you kid. I just want to make sure your safe. Ok? Same with all of us.”
Wild looked at Warriors, and seemed to approve what he saw. He nodded, then gave a small smile.
“We’re your brothers.” Warriors affirmed.
“Thankyou.”

Rain’s LU Febuwhump: Day 2
Solitary Confinement: Wind
Warnings: Isolation
Art here.
The first bad thing which happened was that the portal opened up right under their feet, which was never a good sign. The second bad thing that happened was when they landed in Wild’s Hyrule.
Obviously Wind had nothing against Wild’s Hyrule in particular, but the 9 of them were dumped in the centre of the Yiga Clan hide out. Really Hylia?
They had been surrounded instantly, stripped of their weapons and valuables and shoved into a tiny cell that smelled like bananas. At least Wind had. He didn’t know where his brothers had been sent.
The nine heroes had all had to go through some stuff alone of course, that’s just how the journeys worked. But after months of being surrounded by the groups naturally loud (and sometimes obnoxious) personalities, Wind finally got to notice how quiet it was without them.
He didn’t like it very much.
When a yiga guard passed the bars on the boys cell, Wind banged against the cold metal demanding to know where his brothers were. The man just laughed and kept patrolling.
The silence was deafening, pounding in Winds ears and burrowing deep into his brain. Every noise made his ears prick desperately, straining to hear something familiar, anything.
He wasn’t sure how long it had been. Days? Hours? Mere minutes? Either way the isolation was becoming unbearable.
Eventually, he realised no one was coming. Not his Time with his stern expression, or Wild with his carefree nature, or Legend with his grouchy remarks. There was no sign of Twilight or Warriors. Not a single noise that could have been Four or Hyrule or Sky.
For the first time in a long time, Wind was truly alone. He didn’t like it very much.
