The Paleo Party Guest of the day is Schinderhannes bartelsi!

This is a radiodont, a relative of the more famous Anomalocaris of the Cambrian. However, Schinderhannes bartelsi is from the Devonian, the latest in geologic history we've ever seen a radiodont!

Age: 408-400 mya.

Location: Hunsrück Slates, Bundenbach, Germany

Aiolornis, Adriosaurus, Graciliceratops and Shucaris. Context for the Adriosaurus:

These "flesh ribbons" are speculative soft tissue structures. The arms in this species of Adriosaurus are reduced to just a small useless humerus.

Explanation:

This is the only fossil of Schinderhannes bartelsi, "the last anomalocaris" from the early Devonian period.

When it was found, the fossil had been pyritized, turning it a color of gold.

The words are taken from the novel How to Betray a Dragon's Hero, the 11th book of the series How to Train Your Dragon.

Here the protagonist is writing in his memoir about a character who sacrificed his life for him.
