So it’s entirely possible I accidentally played New California in a way that had me miss out on a ton of content.
For those of who may not know, Fallout: New California is a massive, character-focused narrative mod for Fallout: New Vegas. It’s been in development for seven years, by Radian-Helix Media, lead by Branden Lee and Rick Hukkanen. It takes place in 2260; twenty years after NCR-Enclave War and twenty years before the events of Fallout 3 and New Vegas. The game’s world space is about 66% the size of New Vegas, and it has nearly 17,000 lines of professional-level dialog from 60 voice actors.

It’s a big day for Fallout. Most eyes are trained on the Fallout 76 beta that goes live later this evening. (It begins on Xbox One at 7pm eastern; here’s how to access the beta.) But there’s another lesser-known project that released today.
After seven years of hard work, the Fallout: New California game has finally released. It’s a Fallout: New Vegas mod that takes place after Fallout 2. It details the war between the Enclave and the New California Republic, and it leads into Fallout 3 and New Vegas. And, unlike that other game, it’s purely single-player.
Developer Radian-Helix Media has crafted a hefty campaign for Fallout: New California. There are approximately 48 quests (give or take depending on what choices you make) and 13 endings. The map is two-thirds the size of New Vegas‘. Radian-Helix expects it’ll take a minimum of 6 hours to finish, but players who are completionists will find themselves stretching it out for approximately 30 hours.
All that’s required to play Fallout: New California is a PC copy of New Vegas. Anyone who bought it through Steam or Humble will have a 4GB update to download. GOG has patched New Vegas so that it’s ready for New California. From there, it’s a 6.6GB download for all the files for the new campaign. For exact instructions, follow the steps on the ModDB page.
It’s also worth noting that this is technically a beta. Fallout: New California is content-complete, but some bugs are going to pop up when it’s in the hands of the masses. Still, it’s a landmark day for Radian-Helix. It took seven years, but everyone can finally play Fallout: New California.

Fixed – If you choose to infiltrate the Raiders in a mob playthrough, Kieva and Duville will approach you at the end. Even if you accept Duville’s offer, Kieva will talk to you and you’ll take her ending instead of the mob ending.

New major version of Fallout: New California, Fallout: New Vegas fan prequel, available for download
Radian-Helix Media has just released a new major version of its Fallout: New Vegas fan prequel, Fallout New California. According to the release notes, this new version of Fallout: New California automatically patches FalloutNV.exe to 4GB Large Address Aware and implements many many new bug fixes to quests, visual glitches, stability, some performance upgrades.
This new version also totally revamps the meshes and textures with new compression and fixes lots of errors therein, which both reduces crashing and improves the framerate in all but the most intensive scenes. Moreover, many of the empty houses that were previously copy/pasted placeholders have been fleshed out with decoration, lore, and loot.
The team has also fixed the bug that caused Eastern European users to fail to launch, a user error installing the mod with a simple one stop shop EXE that does everything for you, the “Black Screen on Startup” bug that causes the mod to hang forever, and some bugs in the character revision menu.
Those interested can download this new version of Fallout New Vegas from here (do note that while you’ll have to download the whole game this time around, future patches will be significantly smaller).
