on Agatha's Revenge and the line "p*ssy d*mentia"? The gays and even cishets engage in this meme "jokey" talk when it comes to female characters like Jean and Wanda. The amount of stuff in Tumblr, Twitter (and possibly other social media) and real life making a joke out of calling women (even if they're fictional) crazy. It's a lot.
So, I'll say this about Ocean Kelly-- given the musical genre that she's working in, and being that she is a Black artist from the drag and trans performance scene, her use of "pussy," "cunty," etc. is definitely coming from a specific context that's not a memey joke, nor is it inherently misogynist. Also, Agatha's Revenge is written in a character voice as a response to the Wanda character in Kelly's other WV track, which, again, isn't necessarily comedic. That sort of narrative structure is pretty well established in these genres.
That doesn't change the fact that Wanda/Vision and the material it's based on do have sexist, ableist messaging, and I do think that the "dementia" dig is in poor taste, especially in that context. And, yeah, obviously, I'm a WV hater and I'm not happy that anybody is making content about the show that isn't a criticism of its inherent racism. So I'm not, like, trying to champion Kelly on this one-- but I am telling you to stream Black Pamela!
Now, I'm not fully plugged into M C U stan twitter-- I only really go there when I'm investigating fauxmani and the other racists creeps who dogpile anyone who's trying to have a legit conversation about the Maximoffs-- so I don't really know what kind of jokes people are making. I will say that not only have the comics industry, and their consumer base, failed to reconcile any of the problems presented by ~crazy lady~ storylines such as HoM, but a lot of folks seem to delight in perpetuating them.
