💁‍♀️Strong Female Lead 😿Dog dies, DEAD DOGS

An interesting French foreign film about a young girl struggling with new and exciting urges. Not entirely dissimilar to Swallow but much more primal. Not very scary but a pretty nice story overall.

Trigger Warning R word in song, eyeball licking

Justine and Alexia are sisters at vet school going through the trials and tribulations of life. Justine, the younger sibling, is being hazed and part of that hazing means she has to eat Raw rabbit liver even though she and her family are vegetarian. She calls for her sister but Alexia just forces her to conform and eat the liver. This awakens a hunger for meat in Justine that she was not entirely prepared for. To the point where an accidental severing of her sister's finger results in Justine eating said finger. Wow. I don’t know what I would do if I woke up to my sister gnawing on my cut off finger… That is a doozy. But Alexia is more or less hardened to this and shows Justine how to hide in the trees and cause car accidents so then they can feed off of the dead passengers. Not exactly the turn of events Justine had imagined.

Justine sleeps with her gay roommate for no real reason other than hunger, she bites her own hand to keep herself from hurting him. Next the girls get into a fight, like two wolves, biting each other and then finally giving up and bandaging one another. Justine wakes up in bed with her roommate but this time he is dead, lightly cannibalized, both girls appear to be to blame but Alexia is catatonic. Justine bathes her but she still goes to jail for the death of the roommate. The movie winds down with their visit to the jail and sharing their war wounds. 

I thought this film was going to be a pica thing like in Swallow but instead it was more of a primal thing. The girls have an animalistic desire for Raw flesh that is not a disease of the mind but rather a hunger of the spirit. At the end of the movie they show us that the mother was the same way as the girls, just as uncontrollable in her hunger in barely being able to hold back eating her husband. That this hunger ran in the family. You would think the parents would want to warn their children but they rarely do. Certainly a shame for Justine and Alexia.
