scrolling the rtvs tag for current standalone apologies and statements on the "situation" has me reminded heavily of what the 2021 - 2022 mcyt space was like, with the amount of teenagers in the tag going "my fave is racist and idk what to doooo :(((" like jesus fucking christ we figured this out years ago. you shut the fuck up until everyone involved is done talking and then you hear what's said and fucking listen to it. I'm sorry and I do think rtvs were very fucking awful and immature in their responses, but at the same time if your mental well-being depends so heavily on a group of people YOU DO NOT KNOW whom your only interaction with is watching them play video games online, you need to disengage yourself from that space and find healthier things to focus on. jesus christ.

really disappointing that the way the letter authors conducted themselves was literally as painstakingly polite and civil as they could be when bringing up their concerns. like i cannot see any possible way someone could take it as coming from a place of bad faith. and they were still shouted down, rudely dismissed + accused of acting out of a vendetta. bc indigenous people talking about racism is seen as inherently threatening even when it’s being worded as gently as possible.

[Vent]. My thoughts. I'm not indigenous, so I can not relay the experience as if I could, and their voices matter more than mine. My heart goes out to the people of the letter. I'm writing as a fan who wants to just let out my feelings.

I don't know if it's just me. But I don't know if I can watch another rtvs stream with the whole crew until the rest of them issued their apologies over what happened or actually do something about the hurt they caused. It's obvious by the fan reaction that they're not just friends on the internet anymore and can't just shield themselves to be awful with criticism. Especially over fucking racial discrimination critique.

Especially Mike. Like everyone's initial responses and apologies at the time were bad, but man, that one was just REALLY BAD. Like if it wasn't limited to a discord server, the average rtvs viewer would have just been appalled by the comment and done worse reputation wise level bad. Not even the most dedicated sweep under the rug fans could argue that wasn't good. (Though I did scroll to read the entire situation, and few people tried). But, nope. It was bad. I still don't understand how he could go immediately to a 100 with that. I could give him the benefit of the doubt and say he probably had a shitty day (gamer moment level of exuse. I can't defend that), or idk he was just too aggressive with wanting to defend his friends. But, at the end of the day, that's an excuse, and the words were still typed and caused hurt. The action was still taken, and unfortunately, even *if* he feels terrible over it, he can't take it back. What's done is done, and just make up for it now.

But like I said, even with other mods and members doing the work behind the scenes. And I really hope to god that they do actually address this shit publicly. The longer it could go on, the more people will feel so betrayed (rightfully), and the more fans it will reach to demand something. Like this isn't the hlvrai days anymore rtvs, they have fans that can donate thousands to charity and sell out merchandise within hours. They want to unify the brand together? so they have to GET IT TOGETHER. Act maturely next time. If they aren't able to properly rectify a situation with a problematic sponsor or collaboration in time, then just apologize and listen to people's suggestions. God damn. How hard was it to read a letter that wasn't attacking them. And if anything, they tried really hard to give them so much benefit since it was from Fans. And even if not from fans, still don't treat indigenous people like this (common sense, no?). I know some of the crew are white and, or at this point, privileged to do what they can and probably never had to deal with the unique oppression indigenous people do as most humans never will. But, still. They have to get over it. Read the letter and understand it, and stop trying to act like any criticism is the end of your world/jobs. It will be if most of them don't learn from this incident.

Hey guys, sorry for posting this a bit late, I just got out of the hospital a day ago lol. I'm Jubi, one of the native writers featured in the letter to RTVS addressing the pt situation. If you're in the RTVS community, I encourage you to read through and consider what we have to say on the matter, as well as checking out the account @discord-pt-archive for more information on what was said/the backlash. (also shout out to @menderash for setting this all up!)

Some members of the RTVS team have personally apologized, and the team is working internally on an official apology as well, to be posted in a few days.

That being said, I think it is important for RTVS fans who may still be unaware to familiarize themselves with the circumstances and remind fans that it isn't non-native's place to accept these apologies, nor excuse the harm their actions and words have caused. Please keep this in mind as we wait paitiently for the official apology to be posted.

Lastly, I wanted to extend my support to any native RTVS fans who have been affected by the events. Know that your voice matters and deserves to be heard. My DMS are open if anyone wants to vent/talk about things. :)

ps. for those of you who would like to further support native causes, might I recommend donating to NIWRC. They do very important work in native communities, combatting the servere rates of violence native women experience, providing resources and support. As a 2S survivor, this cause is particularly close to my heart, and they could always use more support.

i worry about the fans not learning anything and going 'ok yay' when rtvs inevitably puts out a halfway-decent apology and never thinking about the situation again. i was in the discord when wayne and scorpy put their small statements out and the response was uniformly 'cool thx guys we appreciate it' with an air of reverence and respect for these guys who they were just upset about a few minutes prior

hi i really hope this doesnt come off as like. Ohh theres rtvs drama i need to add MORE and show these guys need to be Cancelled!!!! boiling down the crew’s immature response to being criticized as racist as just, Drama and controversy, is really shitty. what i wanna say next is just something completely unrelated to that, i just felt more Encouraged to say it at this time because i feel less afraid that im gonna get called silly for it.

ok so my main point is, i am concerned with how often rtvs (mostly specifically wayne, i cant recall anyone else in rtvs doing this) still uses ai in their stuff. by this i’m talking about the recent-ish novelai stream and to an extent the songs in the bbvr stream. i absolutely love the bbvr stream and i do appreciate what wayne’s said about the songs themselves, that theyre more comedic than meant to be Actual Art—same with whatever novelai writes being nothing but comedic and not actual art—and i agree with that partially. ai Can be funny as fuck in a very specific kind of uncanny and disgusting way that cant really be achieved by humans. but, by using that ai to create jokey stuff, you are still feeding the ai to be used by people that are genuinely serious about using ai. and whats most important to me is the environmental damage that comes with using ai, which i have not seen anyone in rtvs mention at all.

one thing thats kind of made me scared to talk about this is when i mentioned this on twitter (though admittedly i brought it up in a very Dumb way, it was me being afraid that scorpy’s section in the pizza tower stream was written by ai bc it just felt really convincingly nonsensical in the same way ai writes stuff, but now i know i was just Straight up wrong thats just how scorpy writes), scorpy qrted me without really addressing my concern and led to lots of people in my replies. again, what i was concerned with really Wasn’t as major as i was worried it was + my response to it was silly because i wasnt expecting so many eyes on a tweet i made just for my followers, but it would have seemed a lot better to talk to me directly about this instead of not even giving me a solid answer.

i am a minor so i cant go into wayne’s discord to talk about this/look at discussion (and i hope me being A Minor doesnt also diminish my opinion as well), so i’m sorry if im regurgitating stuff thats already been talked about by the crew!

i don’t go here so i may mess up some of the details but a handful of indigenous fans of rtvs penned a letter asking them very politely to reconsider their collab with pizza tower due to the racism both within the game and expressed by the dev. several members of rtvs responded to it in a way that was (to put it gently) incredibly immature, dismissive and generally not great.

RTVS Palestine Fundraiser, April 12th-14th

This weekend, Radio TV Solutions will be holding a 3 day marathon fundraiser event for the people of Palestine.

All weekend long, we will be streaming a variety of games and events in an effort to raise money for on-the-ground aid groups and direct Palestinian support campaigns.

The event will not be a traditional stream fundraiser, rather than pointing people at one donation point, we will be suggesting many different support recipients, and you may donate to any of them. You can then submit your donation amount to be tallied into our rough total.

The information document detailing suggested groups/campaigns to support will open up closer to when the event starts, as well as a schedule of events for the weekend. The event will be hosted on my twitch channel, where http://stream.rtvsfundraiser.live/ links to.
