Raspberry Forethought Nucleus

I think I'm satisfied with a cover and title at last.

What's it about? An android ranger with unclear motives and a chip on xer shoulder arrives at the company-owned Viper Den Space Station, where the local reeve and her security team are bracing for an attack from a rising cargo-theft gang. New clashes with old as the neoteric android, an outdated security AI, the long-standing reeve, and her hotshot deputy must join forces against this outside threat--but as tensions flare and questions about each other's checkered pasts arise, it seems the real threat may come from within.

Is that...a genre? I bring to you tonight a brilliant deconstruction of literature and life itself...Okay, fuck it, I lied. It's a noir western in space. Whatcha gonna do

The plan: I've got it started. It's gonna be a novel. Then it might be a whole continuous series for all I know. It compels me.

Some fun facts:

The station has no artificial gravity.

The personal spacecrafts don't have guns or lasers. Instead, space fights are described as "knife fights" because they're done by bashing each other's ships around until someone wins.

What's with the title? The security system can do almost nothing without human permission. "Raspberry forethought nucleus" is the verbal code given in the first chapter that gives him permission to straight-up kill people :)

Six(ish) Sentence Sunday

I’m sitting in an Uber on my way to JFK to catch my flight back to Arizona, and I figured I’d give you all some sentences from my New Orleans WIP, especially since this weekend, NOLA seems to be the theme in Kastle land, what with the shoutout it got from @the-restless-brook’s most recent chapter in the Carrying-verse (which everyone needs to go read RFN).

I didn’t get a lot of writing done this weekend (read: none, but I had so much fun running around NYC and meeting some people from the business side of my life, and spending an evening out in a GORGEOUS penthouse celebrating our accomplishments. There was much fun. And much wine.)

Anyway, here’s some more conversation between Karen and Leo in a cafe in New Orleans:

“I’m guessing this is a lot to take in,” Leo says, dark eyes strangely knowing as she takes another sip from her iced bastardization of a cup of coffee.

Karen nods once, slow, “I figured Pete left New York, but I didn’t think he had plans on coming back anytime, well, ever.”

“We didn’t either,” Leo said with a conspiratorial nod. “He just showed back up one day out of nowhere, kind of like when Mom accidentally hit him with her car the first time,” Karen really wants to ask what that’s all about, but Leo continues before she has the chance. “Except, this time, she yelled at him for missing Thanksgiving two years ago and never calling. It was kind of funny. Dad just laughed at him the whole time and told him about all the stuff in the house he needed help fixing.”

This is—this really is a lot.

So, more to come here soon. Or maybe the sequel to I Wouldn’t Know Where To Start, because I think I’m closer to finishing that one. Hell, it could be the soulmate AU I’m writing thanks to @ninzied. Or @ck90 enabling me to write something else. Or the birthday fic im writing this month for @nxbodygoesafterher.

Where are you from ? Nunya ? [WIP]

I listened to Despair by leo. and got a rush of inspiration to work on my very neglected (but loved) Roblox royalty story .

Royals from Nunya is very silly but it's currently my comfort story as it has minimal angst, lots of fluff, and a simple plot . Above we have our hero knight August Remington and the charismatic Prince Dax .

These two aren't the main characters but they are the first ones to come to mind when I heard this song . RFN is about the 5 princes from the Kingdom of Nunya (yes, it's a stupid pun) and their romances . Dax isn't from Nunya though, he's from Suhmware .

I'll explain August's relationship with Dax more when I finish this little comic thing . Auggie is a loser and Dax loves spending his visits with his loser .
