THE THING ABOUT CHIMERA ANT ARC GON is that he suddenly turns around and is like 'yknow what? all of this was planned by ging bc he wants me to do something. he wants me to pass some test so he made me me kite he wants me to grow so maybe he set me up to meet killua. i cant leave the NGL if the worst happens bc i wouldnt be worthy to meet ging i would disappoint him'

and like... hes always CARED about finding ging but this whole turn around into like NO it was PREDESTINED and he HAS TO FOLLOW this path or hes not WORTHY to meet his dad.... contrasted to the audience seeing that ging literally. asked the greed island crew to send gon to kite if he was going with a group bc he was embarassed abt it. this change in gons viewpoint is like. sooo sudden and so frustrating but it MAKES SENSE

bc suddenly after becoming a hunter the amount of info he learns about ging builds and builds. and its always positive and its always 'he restored all these ruins' or 'he's so important u cant search him online' or 'yeah he's really famous he's one of the best hunters in the world' its always he changed someones lives for the better and he has all these friends who are powerful and who care about him and never like. huh. yeah it WAS fucked up he abandoned you! yeah it is shitty he boobytrapped the accompany card so he didnt have to meet you!

like it just. it HAS TO BE gon's taking his curiosity and turning it into idol worship and he already like. wasnt really. letting himself feel any abandonment about ging but what was 'i want to find out whats so great about being a hunter that my dad chose it over raising me' turned into 'i have to earn the honor of being able to meet my own dad' its just like. tragic. and frustrating. and you can SEEEEEE!!!! killua already having seeds of doubt when gon tries to go 'well maybe me meeting you was all part of gings plan too ^_^' LIKE KILLUAS LIFE BEING RULED AND DECIDED FOR HIM. AND HIS ABILITY TO CHOOSE AND MAKE HIS OWN FRIENDS. ISNT A HUGE SOURCE OF TRAUMA FOR HIM AAAAA
